She/He
Rockie May 2015
She's given up.
She can't take it.
She lies through the skin of her teeth.
She hides it well.
She'll explode some day.
She won't be able to control it.
She's sorry.

He's moved on.
He's forgotten it already.
He has no reason not to tell the truth.
He shows it well.
He's already mended.
He has it all sorted out.
He's glad.

Fourth Wall
Rockie May 2015
My mind suddenly breaks the fourth wall,
Unaware there's an audience,
More understanding of what I did than why,
I wasn't told of spectators upon my life,
Expressed not in the words of many townspeople
Who mill in the streets of my world

Sometimes you never feel good enough.
That everyone hates you.
Is judging for the expression you wear,
Or the shoes on your feet,
The clothes on your body,
Your music taste and how well you can make friends.
I get that all the time.
Never feeling good enough defines my darkest thoughts.
The shadows that cling to the invisible mass of my very mind.
Will I ever be good enough?
Will my expression ever be pretty enough?
My shoes expensive enough?
My clothes hip enough?
The music and friends pop enough?
Then these thoughts clear sometimes.
Sometimes.

He Gave Me A Choice
Rockie May 2015
He gave me a choice, you know.
Have a will of my own, or follow Him into battle.
One bite. One bite to free us all.
Did I dare?
No.
Yes.
No.
Yes!
I dared to be intoxicated, be blamed for it all.
Bite, chew, swallow.
He gave me a choice.
And I dared to take the wrong path.

Soul Colour
Rockie May 2015
When your true soul mate is near,
The world becomes more beautiful,
The colours more vibrant,
And it seems that everything will be ok.

When your true soul mate strays afar,
The world becomes more ugly,
The colours more dull,
And it seems that everything will be different.

When your true soul mate has passed away,
The world becomes more depressing,
The colours more black and white,
And it seems that everything will be breaking.

When your true soul mate comes back to keep you company,
The world becomes more manageable,
The colours more tinted and full of life,
And it seems that everything will be alright once more.

Inhale
Rockie May 2015
Children are playing in the pools of tyrant kings,
Who died during the war,
Of justice, lust and fear,
The need for starvation and death are the shining little gems in the hearts of the Kings Queens,
Inhale the sweat of broken toys,
Who knew no more than heartless throwings,
And kiddies puberty which makes them forget,
The fun that they had,
Oh inhale, inhale, in jail,
Gang tattoos are removed,
So death wouldn't be nigh.

Verses
Rockie May 2015
I'm the adult of sophistication,
The evolving dreams of kids,
Asleep and high and drunk,
Of the promise of the end of time,
Where birds are skeletal creatures,
With blood for wings and beaks of gold.
One of the verses for a song I'm writing for my friends and I :)

It's called being misunderstood

Reality
Rockie May 2015
This is most certainly
The strangest case of Not Reality
I have seen in the longest time.
The doctor's words rang in my ears,
His deadly expression curious.

Your family has seen it before,
And obviously passed it unto you.
The doctor shook his head,
His deadly expression curious.

I am rather afraid,
That you have reached stage three
Of the Not Reality.
The doctor smiled sadly,
His deadly expression curious.

I'm worried that I may have
To section you, my dear,
To the ward that cares for Not Reality patients.*
The doctor placed the jacket on me,
His deadly expression curious.

Appreciate
Rockie May 2015
I would like you to stop for a minute.
Look around.
What do you see?
Your mum? Your dad?
Maybe older or younger sibling(s)?
Do you have children?
Best friends?
Please. Stop for a minute.
Appreciate that not everything with those people is perfect.
Not you, not them.
But appreciate, even though they may not show it,
They love you.
The quirks, the ups and the downs,
The mood swings,
Appreciate them.
Care for them, love them,
Hold them,
Be there for them, even if they aren't always there for you.
Please. Appreciate every little thing.

Feel the heat pressing against my fragile fingertips.
Wanting to escape.
Wanting to be free.
The fire crackles:
The wood has been eaten away.
Most of it.
One piece refuses to split in half.
Like lovers, they cling on to each other,
Unaware of the danger engulfing them,
Burning them,
Splitting them apart.
Still, they refuse to let go.

Difference
Rockie May 2015
Listen to these differences
Between you and me
Because they'll be handy, honey,
When you're wondering what you did wrong.

You claw for attention
Of your music taste
Because it's mainstream,
All that modern pop making your brain
Wonder what it's like to prefer rock.

I Like It Heavy like the Halestorm song
Because I see the good in the bad and the ugly
Not like The Chainsmokers
Deciding which filter to use

You watch White Chicks
Because you feel like you can relate to the blonde twins
Locked up in the room
Waiting for those cuts to heal

My friends and I watch it
Because we have a laugh at the guys
Dressing up as teenage girls
Farting in the restaurant being hit on by another guy

I could list a whole lot more
But I'd rather not, so
Do you see the difference?

The wind blows through my hair
As I walk
And listen to my favourite music
Making me feel like I can escape my life
Even if for half an hour at most.

The wind blows a cold breath
Through my bones
Causing a light shiver
Across my goosebumps

The wind blows scattered leaves
Across the empty street
As I grin and grin
At the freedom of peace
I shall enjoy pleasantly for a moment,
If not a few.

You stare up at me
As I type, type, type away
With those big eyes of yours
Pleading for cuddles
And scratches
And kisses galore
But I can't I say
I've got work to do
You reach out a paw
Mournfully whining
I give in, tempting fate
For your soft fur
And wet licks across my palm
I giggle
As your tail wags
At a hundred miles per second
And leave my homework
For your joyful personality
Instead
For my dog, who captured my six year old heart at Christmas all those years ago and has been one of my best friends ever since :)
