Maniacal Escape
My world is on fire everywhere I see.
So I stick my face under water, smiling secretly.
 160°
Tariq Al
The warm sun from afar gently wakes me
I yawn and then briskly greet my folks;
My neighbor smiles back after waving, ‘Hi!’
All the dwellers mix and race to the fields
Like they all are siblings from Adam and Eve
Letting out their qualms with the wind:
These are the times – we are as free as birds

Soon, all we dream about is flying
We sprout wings and span across the skies
This life is a jar full of fairy tales
For everyone can stop to smell the roses
And witness the beauty in the starry skies
Lazing in their haven, coz it is not haunted
While their days are industrious like bees
And their tomorrows, don’t fret them at all
They are only grateful that they have a Lord

This is the era of naivety, when
No one cares for hidden treasures
Or the enslavement of men for a sordid cause
Ours, is the cradle of huddled peace
For we do not hold resentment, but forgive
We also do not haggle, for we all are forthright
And triumphant over our Machiavellian selves
This way – we are happy beings for eternity
Till one of us, heeds the serpent’s whisper.

I'm tired of writing for you
They all get read
But are never seen
Spilling my heart out for you
No one likes
What isnt green
But it is
Sickly and nauseating
Atrocious, deafining
Every sense is overwhelming
When it comes to you and her
I'm tired of writing for you
I'm so tired of writing for her

I mourn for your lips

So much that I feel aches that send speckles of darkness sinking into the pit of my stomach
and your smile alludes the impression that you are satisfied by this
and I discern the notion  of my lips having been touched but never really kissed

yet still, I mourn for your lips

lips I have never touched.

I have never thanked you,
for the conversations.

I have never thanked you,

I have never thanked you,
for asking me how i'm really doing.

I have never thanked you,
for staying alive.

Thank you,
thank you.

Words will never say what I want them to
Or represent me accurately
Words are flawed, much like me
people **** other people over words
Words from holy books
Words from politicians
Words from military generals
And people lose themselves over words
We have infinite heads filled
with infinite strings of infinite words
Playing through each on an infinite loop
Infinite proposals flow out of infinite slitted eyes
From killing gods and accepting god-head
To signing off on the holy jihad
Dead flesh blazing from some wild raging fire
Submission to the learned word is a form of slavery
Of which most of us are completely unaware
A last pulse will be the end of words
And with it the promise of clarity

what does it feel like to be held
not by another body
not by a set of limbs, a chest, a chin
but
by another soul

what does it feel like
to see truth in another pair of eyes
instead of hidden intentions
instead of absence

what does it feel like
to hear a familiar heartbeat
resounding next to your own
reaching through skin
through bone
two rhythms
indistinguishable

what does it feel like
to write poems about
a love that exists

you desire of her
to be open.
study her inside and out
teach her
to love whole.
then call her weird
when she finds beauty
in you.

My Demons and I used to be best friends, we used to spend all day together in bed and chat about our future together. It was filled with everything I’ve ever wanted and all the things I was scared of.
At one point I couldn’t tell if it were my Dreams of the future or his. Everything seemed to turn sour, although I was waiting for things to turn sweet they never did.

My Demons and I were best friends, but I can’t live someone else’s Dreams, so now I have to build my own future.

I wake up
with you on my lips,
but it's only your name
and not your kiss.

I dreamt of you,
and I can’t get back
to our unconscious innocence.
I wish we had not woken.

The crack lets the light in.
Pitiless beams expose my lies,
and reveal your absence.
Regret is making coffee in the kitchen.

your name is
forbidden in
my mouth
or in my heart
because when
i think about
you;

i'll cry a little more,
hurt a little stronger
love a little softer
because you no longer
make me feel sober

i'm drunk on the
memory of you
if only i could chase you with pizza but shots don't work like that

you exhale; it is the wind through
the forest; the rising of brittle
brown leaves

into a uniform, twisting thing
of color; our lives bounded
along its length

then, it rests; the long brush-
stroke reaches canvas’s edge -
a clearing

(this is not the end, but as if
only to pause for another
breath)

Break my bones;
cut my throat.
Pull me open,
learn the ropes.

Breath me in;
taste the fear.
Shank my skin;
stand and cheer.

Kick my head;
let me bleed.
Unbolt my veins;
enjoy the read.

Gouge my eyes;
punch my face.
Wrap me up
in your embrace.
Get to know me like I do you; inside and out.

A heart that loves

A heart that hates

A heart that’s been broken

A heart that’s been damaged

A heart that's been scarred

A heart that’s been scared

A heart that remembers

A heart that misses

A heart that shields

A heart that protects

A heart that’s fragile

A heart that’s brave

A heart that won’t stop loving

A heart that can’t stop bleeding

staring out the window,
I remember you as you were

a bird always in flight

a fist full of tomorrows
held in the palm of your hand

staring out the window at the pouring rain
the warmth of your hand
pinions of a dove's wing
your hand in mine

I will not see the shadow
under your smile

gathering all the light in a room
like a flower in the sun

I remember you as you were

Be
Not the first and never the last.
Unique and extraordinary.
A journey through the strange and unknown.
The good and the bad.
The people we meet,
And the places we go.
Goals accomplished,
And miles traveled.
Live your own life.
Do what you want.
And be who you wanna be.

I used to read your poems
but lately you don't write
you're silent and aloof
you know that isn't right.
You can't close a door once opened
you can't abolish all your dreams
you're a poet of the heart
mustn't fall apart at the seams.
Say what you can in words
they speak the message true
spoken from the heart
the poems will see you through.
A hermit's not your style
a recluse, you are not
never give up writing
of things that you've been taught.
I used to read your poems
I'd read them once again
if you would send them out
(this one's from a poet friend)

REY
If you could read my mind,
You’d see a thousand papers
Filled with broken poetries
And deadbeat proses
Full of woeful verses
With mournful pieces
Of unfinished stories
That are yet to be written
And failed to be spoken;
If you could read my mind,
You’d hear horrible screams
And earsplitting weeps
From shattered dreams,
Kept in a nasty notepad,
Scribbled on a bed
Of bloodstained words,
Ringing in my head.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see the shadows
That lurk within me;
You’d hear the bellows,
Screeching the words
“I’m tired,”
“I’m a failure,”
“I’m stupid –”
I know it sounds stupid,
It’s pathetically foolish
And seems too *******.
If you could read my mind,
You’d feel the tears
I had ever failed to cry;
You’d see the people
That make the weak weaker;
You’d see the monsters
That consume my head;
You’d hear the hollers
That failed to be freed;
You’d see the heart
That still bleeds and bleeds.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see the face
I’ve failed to show back then,
The face I’ve faked back then.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see a character
I had ever failed to become
If you could read my mind,
You’d be able to read
A book you never wished
To touch and read,
But sometimes I still wish
Someone could read my mind.

If you ignore all the memories.
That you don't know me anymore,
It hurts.
The pain,
That left nothing behind.
Also to make money,
It hurts.
The pain,
To be a stranger to you all of a sudden.
To wait without success,
It hurts.
The pain,
To see you with others
To take care of her,
It hurts.
The pain,
That looks like a fool.
Being mad while you are in love,
It hurts.
The pain,
Of all the senses.
That's because you're writing the poem,
It hurts...

I love him
I tell myself
I know that
We will be together forever
I don’t believe that
We could be separated
My thoughts tell me that
He’s the love of my life
Sometimes my heart lies and says
I could live an eternity
Without him
Like my friends say
“We’re perfect for each other”
And you can’t tell me
He’s not the one.

Now read from bottom to top.
