I could water the forest
with my eyes
I could drown the ocean
with my tears
I could move the mountain
with my heart
I could summon the wolves
with my weep
I could cause a tornado
with my breathing
I could die
from sadness

i want to protect you
and blame what i need
on some deficiency in me

and say baby don't worry
i am hurting
because he hurt me

i am hurting
because i am just not quite right,
just not quite good enough

(and most of the time,
i believe it too)

but i have to try to believe
that i'm as worthy as anyone else
and that i hurt because i am human

the truth is this:

lately i have felt
like i am rationing your love
and my stores are running low

i am scared

please,
fill me back up

Sometimes, the words don’t come.

The consistent stream of consciousness, ceases.

I am left with nothing to say.

There is a beauty in the broken mind.

Like an abandoned building taken by nature.

It is not that my mind does not work.

It is that it works too fast,

And I am left behind,

Scrabbling in the dust,

Desperately seeking a connection,

In the discarded fragments of thought.

I am fighting a losing battle.

I fear the white flag will soon arise.

And signal the end.

I used to read your poems
but lately you don't write
you're silent and aloof
you know that isn't right.
You can't close a door once opened
you can't abolish all your dreams
you're a poet of the heart
mustn't fall apart at the seams.
Say what you can in words
they speak the message true
spoken from the heart
the poems will see you through.
A hermit's not your style
a recluse, you are not
never give up writing
of things that you've been taught.
I used to read your poems
I'd read them once again
if you would send them out
(this one's from a poet friend)

Reducing the time
Spent expecting
To earn
Not my usual
Practical
Way to unlearn
Inauspicious
Habitual
Preferences
Render me
Merely a cyborg
With some
Human tendencies
More like dependencies
On the pretending
I know what I’m doing
Convictions defending
What’s left to believe
To stay woken up for
To look forward
To future good things
Still in store

I've managed to fall
Totally
And completely
In love,
While also feeling like I'm going to pass out everytime you get close.
What if you get close enough to actually see me.

Sometimes I wanna pull my heart out and shake it like a magic eight ball,
And ask
Is this okay? Am I okay?
Does this make me weak.

Or plant a field of daisies and pluck the petals one by one asking
Does he love me?

I'll search for my very own wishing well, throw in every coin I can find,
And make the same wish over and over.

you don't exist when
my eyes are open
you don't exist when
my blood's not poisoned
when my soul's at peace
when my gut is full
and when I'm in company

So you exist most of the time

How to become a poet:
Let someone rip your soul apart.
And in the need of mending ,
You will replace it with words.

I write words of meaningless sound
Pour my honesty upon the ground
Coronate me with a cardboard crown
My poetry left in a heaping mound
I’m forgotten, as seen as a shadow

I converse with
The voices in my head

They talk slowly
So their guidance isn't misread
I have a few drafts. Not sure if it needs more or if short is better
Nothing dropped off in the night
I checked myself in the mirror
and

nothing dropped off in the night

you may laugh
but at a certain age
one has to check
just to be sure.

Its easy to be drawn to shimmering stars.
They light up the night like paint, spilled across the sky.
Like glitter, carelessly tossed onto a pitch black canvas.
Somewhat spilling across the floor of our home.
Like the hands that tossed it, small and gentle.
The eyes they are attached to, amazed at the shimmering landscape they just created in the world they barely know.
Eyes that sparkle like a newly born star with youthful wonder.
I cant look away.
After all,
Its easy to be drawn to shimmering stars.

I’m buried in a cocoon of stories
From poetry,
To biographies,
To dystopia,
And romance
So many stories
Of so many people
Real,
Or just figments of the author’s
Imagination
Sitting atop wooden bookshelves
Waiting for the right person,
To pick them up
And get lost in their story
For everyone has a story to tell,
Some are overly exaggerated,
And other’s are rarely heard
The important thing is
That we share our stories
Through word of mouth,
The internet,
Or in a notebook
To be found by future historians
Tell your story
Believe me, you won’t regret it

I love him
I tell myself
I know that
We will be together forever
I don’t believe that
We could be separated
My thoughts tell me that
He’s the love of my life
Sometimes my heart lies and says
I could live an eternity
Without him
Like my friends say
“We’re perfect for each other”
And you can’t tell me
He’s not the one.

Now read from bottom to top.

so shall we be cradled in another.

My God, I know this man is great
he makes me don't wanna hate myself
he allows me to be me
most of all, he stays

his words are detailed and they speak poem for me
long and sweet and safe and paired with strong actions, too
I maybe away from him for days or weeks
but I won't actually leave

all these good things,
while I'm being blind and stupid and young.
to experience such wonderful days when someone waits for you,
one ought to be really grateful

The poet lives two lives.
One on the outside,
And one in their mind.

When you look in their eyes
You could see an abyss.

If you looked long enough
You could sink into it.

But most people don’t see it.

Take the time to read the words, though,
And you would know for sure.

The poet lives in two different worlds.
A little escape from the madness.
Or maybe, into.

your name is
forbidden in
my mouth
or in my heart
because when
i think about
you;

i'll cry a little more,
hurt a little stronger
love a little softer
because you no longer
make me feel sober

i'm drunk on the
memory of you
if only i could chase you with pizza but shots don't work like that
sturgeon moon hides
behind woolly clouds
fishing at night

I see the lights through the window
Forming shapes in your ceiling
We lie in bed and you look at me
You don't say what you are thinking
But you smile and get closer.

I hear the traffic through my window
Keeping me awake till late at night
Too late to say what I was thinking
That time I wanted to stay
But left anyway.

They said,
"The most beautiful art is
looking into someone's eyes
when they talk about the
things they love.
"
And I said,
"Or looking at someone you love.
Or maybe, just maybe,
by looking at the mirror
is the most beautiful art
anyone should appreciate."

We're still fighting life
as if we stand a chance against Death.
I am but
one star
in the
universe
that you
deserve.
I am but
a rain's
puddle
when
it is
the ocean
that you
need to
swim in.
Wish
upon me.
Dance
and jump
within me.
I long
to be
enough
for thee.
