ā€œThey say love is forever
But for me love is
When I get to see the happiness in your eyes
When you say my name my heart skips a beat
This Valentineā€™s Day is extra special
Because I get to spend it with you
Even when weā€™re together
I still wish there was more time
In the world to be with you ā€œ

The words slipped out-
"I donā€™t want this anymore"
Had I blinked,
I wouldnā€™t have said it.

And just like that,
they took shape,
sharp as thorns,
wilting his smile
as they struck.

And just like that,
I stood alone,
Had I blinked,
he wouldn't be gone.

the pink clouds move slow
slow like i was tricked by the years

gleaming over grass i walked
by feet
small in saturday's shoes

sharp patch grass and dirt that stuck to my back
replaced by the warmth of wood chips
familial love reflects off the set up sign
Ā Ā swaying on the lawn

i feel its burn in my eyes

the ice cream man drives by
i guess the best flavor isn't in stock anymore

the sun keeps setting on my dreams to escape
i already woke up from it all

In the "loneliness",
I find connection.
In the "boredom",
I find fulfillment.
In the "silence",
I find serenity.

Why aren't you at peace?

Every day the world grows darker.
Every day my strength pales.
Every day I lose a bit more faith.
Every day he drags us further.

There might have been a time I'd be proud to be American-
but the thought is now no more than shame.

I feel a burning brand upon my forehead,
stars and stripes carved into my arms
as red and blue pound behind the white
of my eyes.

Make America great?
You've made us the laughing stock of the world
I don't know if I'll survive this

Deep in the night,
when the world is asleep,
I dance with the memory,
I swore not to keep.

For some loves donā€™t end,
they just learn how to hide,
A wound left unhealed,
still bleeding inside.

"Poetry Challenge 1: One sentence, 17 syllables"

I'm doing a variation and writing a poem consisting of only 17 syllable lines:

Born with everything possible; how disappointing it came to this,

watching dull rain erode the snow from chilled off-white to curb-frozen ash,

drinking old Ardmore and lamenting an ironic philosophy,

Evan's law - as disposable income rises, so do all the bills.

"Poetry Challenge 2: 10 Words - Time, Place, Emotion"

I was thirty-nine in Washington with a Turkish girl:

I chased my feelings for two years until I found

her in bed with someone else. So, to hell with her:

I'd rather get drunk and watch the snow melt.

Sounds like a song
Sounds truly like a song
Syllables rolling out of the tongue
Your name truly feels like a song

Lulling slowly into the lovely lap of slumber
As the luring arms of lethargy
Envelopes logic where
Thoughts flee
To dream
Snoozing
Into
Peace

Sounds like a song
As the sounds tumble slowly
Mingling into the air
Carrying the sounds
To the fore

To the folks attuned
To the singsong
Sounds of your name

3pm on an outside stroll
will I see you then
I guess we wonā€™t know
But here I am
Flickering candles
They Dance
Burning the wick
They dance
Some stretching tall
They dance
Some so small
They dance!
Burning bright
They dance
Giving light
They dance
And thatā€™s not all
They dance!

This is the moment when you left
And the moment i knew you would never come back

It was the sight of watching a loved one go away on a trip
When you are young you wonder why you can't go with them
But they have to go any way for work, family, or death

It was the sound of your favorite song being paused halfway through
But you cant ever turn it back on

Worst of all it was the feeling of losing a piece of myself
I search everywhere to find

I try to fill the void
I try to forgot your voice

But I know what you were
And I wonder what you could be

Now you are probably looking down
Saying don't cry about me
I made it to the heavens
And I'll always have you with me

I'll always have you in my mind
In my heart
And in my pocket at the least

The streets are golden
The people are kind
And there's a spot next to me
Waiting for you to arrive

Full moon, at night.
The water shimmers in its light.
ā€œWill you jump with me, naked?ā€
I ask him in the cold wind shaking,
Standing on the edge of the unknown,
Like a lion that has fully grown.
As he hesitates fearfully,
I dive into freedom fiercely.
ā€œI must do itā€, he says, following my lead,
Before surrendering to the deep.

Certain things my dad said round me
I still remember to this day
Like when he'd ask how much is the cheese
In turn the waitress would say

Why it's only ten cents sir
Would you like to add a slice
You could see his eyes spin as the notion kicked in
I've never paid that price for a slice of cheese in my life!

Years later when I order a burger
And they ask me if I care for cheese
Just like my dad I ask with a tightening in my chest
Finding it hard to breath

Coming in at well over a dollar
I have visions of dad spinning in his grave
If he wasn't already dead this would be the camels back
That sends him on his way

White sheets and a warm hug;
Sun rays and coffee in a mug;
Your sleepy eyes and bright smile,
It makes the wait worth my while.

Yellow and green,
Fresh and crisp.
Mornings are wrapped in the perfume of eternity,
That assures evenings a scent of serendipity.

As always, my radiant sunshine.
And forevermore, my calm moonshine.

And thinking while sitting
about the feelings

when sinking in the seeking.
Raindrops fall,
streetlights--
a solemn night.

The flow of tears,
silent sobs,
a sorrowed skies.

The sound of raindrops,
cries of silent sobs--

Tonight,

speak your eyes.

I beg you for your might.
I praise your heavenly form,

Makes the beats of my heart a wreck.

My hands crave your neck.

I can see you in the smoke,
I can hear you in the rain.
Like a priest, your pleasure I invoke,
And like a doctor, I remove your pain.

As a poet,
I have some
sort of ā€œsicknessā€.
A ā€œdiseaseā€ that
makes me cough
cold, raw, inky words.
It forms sentences
you never heard
out of me before.

On endless hours
of sitting in a
room alone,
my throat
hurts so badly.
Someone sliced it
open with a knifeā€”
I lost my broken voice
in the processā€”
But not my soul

I am empty.
And I donā€™t mean it metaphorically,

I am empty.

Unreciprocated love took everything.
And thereā€™s nothing left.

i exist only for myself in that moment

Sometimes I think his scent lingers on my skin.

Scars impossible to erase no matter how hard I scrub.

His need for me always urgent.

Firm forceful hands always taking more then I want to give.

The secret is pain can be such pleasure..

Making love to monsters in the dark.

Eyes closed and gasping.

Physical need overwhelming,
and fireworks nowhere in sight.

(A lone voice whispers)

Do you write
For freedom
From boredom

Or even sympathy

Simply to defeat
Apathy

People who experience traumatic events may sometimes develop apathy syndrome

(indifference and emotional detachment)

As a means to further protect themselves mentally and prevent further distress

This is normally present in survivors of tragedies

And it can be part of post-traumatic stress disorder

Caused by emotions hard press

So are you ready to lay on my couch
And begin to confess

A beautiful green medow all bursting with bloom.
White jasmine that glitters like due drops in June.
A oasis of scent fills the air .
A woman stands at the edge ,lost in a distant stare .
Her red locks of hair kissed by the sun .
Her white laced dress flows on a magical breeze .
She searches the winds for love unknown .
But as she gazed at the world outside.
She found love waiting deep inside .

I have this blue window

I sit on this bed
like itā€™s the edge

the white sheets
sleep behind me
like restless angels
I scribble words
I call it poetry
I write the word
love in black ink
and the walls
become irritable
deep blue shadows
swallow my room
of souvenirs
I want to hear the
sound of violins
I want to hear the
sadness in your voice
become clear
I need a pleasant dream
I need something solid
to lean upon
I need something to
sooth these
shaking hands ā€¦
