Someday, perhaps, I will get to tell you everything my heart feels for you.
"I like to get hot and heavy under the sheets. But that's just me sleeping with the fan off. "

-Teddy Roosevelt (1911)
I used to spill my guts in poems and get 31 views. Now I post dumb **** while my country is bombing five other nations, there's satanic pedophiles in congress and I just ****** into my boxer briefs which was made in some sweatshop; and my crap trends. And views/trending don't matter but then why am I on this site posting this crap.

I couldn't think of
Anything nice to say
Hence; the silent
I've portrayed
The awkwardness
Of the night
Keeps bugging
My tired heart

I couldn't think of
Anything nice to say
Even my smile looks so pale
I was nothing but stale

I’m trying to be calm
I'm trying to stay content
I couldn't keep a straight face
the past hit me hard
it kept me awake
forever alert

I wondered if he noticed
The rage on my face
The grudge in my eyes
The distrust of his words
I couldn't think of another act
To cover up my disguise face

I've been used
To living alone
And his coming just
Add another groan,
I couldn't think of
Anything nice to say
Hence; the silent
I’ve portrayed

laughed our way into age,
growing older,
shorter,

we parted,

I stare at the mirror
not because I'm vain
and not because I'm pretty
I stare at the mirror
because the person looking back
is not me
It's a black, shadowy wisp
that runs away
when I try to touch it
I'm referring to myself as a shadowy wisp because nobody really notices me anywhere and I shy away when someone does notice.

Your touch; my love,
Like dawn, shines light
In my, tired eyes
Your warmth, the fuel
That moves, my Soul
Your voice; my calm

Simply, because
You breathe, like air
My heart, is light,
It feels: you're here
By me, and I'm
By you, my dear
Couldn't sleep; needed to write this
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, kitty-girl, kitty-girl,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?
Ye, champagne and roses,
A bag full of poses,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?

Oh, ye little kitty-girl, kitty-girl, kitty-girl,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?
From London to Denver,
you're glowing my ember,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?

Oh, ye little kitty-girl, kitty-girl, kitty-girl,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?
I know that you're fluffy,
You're cute and you're puffy
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?

Oh, ye little kitty-girl, kitty-girl, kitty-girl,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?
The sun is a-shining,
The silver a-lining,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?

Oh, ye little kitty-girl, kitty-girl, kitty-girl,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?
The moon is a-gleaming
For you I’m now dreaming,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?

Oh, ye little kitty-girl, kitty-girl, kitty-girl,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?
So, come ye, and take me
For you will not fake me,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?

Oh, ye little kitty-girl, kitty-girl, kitty-girl,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?
I love you, my kitten,
So put on your mitten,
Oh, ye little kitty-girl, why do ye purr?
The melody used for the poem was from an Austrian folk song, called "Oh, du lieber Augustin", presumably composed by a Viennese balladeer named Marx Augustin in 1679, though written documents date back to about 1800. The folk songs "The More We Get Together" and "Fat Turkeys" were all based on this song.

This poem can be read three ways, straight through, 1st line every other, 2nd line every other

Her heart is closed

In a casket of gold

Sealed by magic

With stories untold

Far beyond the moonlit sky

How will this adventure unfold?

Up and away in galaxies unknown

Her soul with scars so very bold.

She makes her way to the path most sure

To find her weapon to break the mold.

Because the earth’s round
Doesn’t mean it’s  having a ball.

Because waves crash
Doesn’t mean that they aren’t in control.

Because the sea is deep
Doesn’t mean that it’s thoughtful

Because land meets the sea
Doesn’t mean that they agree

Because you float my boat
Doesn’t make me the captain.
Five little ten worders to ponder.

Oh what have I done
I have betrayed my own
How could it be
I shall hide and depart

Take what you need
Leave no trace behind
Play it safe
No turning back

I am ashamed of my doing
What have I become
I have played the victim
For the devil's deed is done

Will God save me now
I fear for what's to come
I shall run faster
Until I have nowhere to run
And die in abandonment
Don't we have our own Judas in us?

Said the dealer
“Be my queen of hearts”
I handed myself over

I wish I called your bluff

My periods turn to semicolons
My suicide notes to poetry
My goodbyes become hellos
The blades turn to sunflowers
And the bullets, a rose
My heart still is broken
But the pieces have been found
Death isn’t for me anymore
What is, in the here and now
I still don’t feel enough
But I am alive
And that’s enough to say
Today is not the day I die.

If you could read my mind,
You’d see a thousand papers
Filled with broken poetries
And deadbeat proses
Full of woeful verses
With mournful pieces
Of unfinished stories
That are yet to be written
And failed to be spoken;
If you could read my mind,
You’d hear horrible screams
And earsplitting weeps
From shattered dreams,
Kept in a nasty notepad,
Scribbled on a bed
Of bloodstained words,
Ringing in my head.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see the shadows
That lurk within me;
You’d hear the bellows,
Screeching the words
“I’m tired,”
“I’m a failure,”
“I’m stupid –”
I know it sounds stupid,
It’s pathetically foolish
And seems too *******.
If you could read my mind,
You’d feel the tears
I had ever failed to cry;
You’d see the people
That make the weak weaker;
You’d see the monsters
That consume my head;
You’d hear the hollers
That failed to be freed;
You’d see the heart
That still bleeds and bleeds.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see the face
I’ve failed to show back then,
The face I’ve faked back then.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see a character
I had ever failed to become
If you could read my mind,
You’d be able to read
A book you never wished
To touch and read,
But sometimes I still wish
Someone could read my mind.

Speak

as if the world was going to
sleep. And the grass was growing
melatonin. Everyone’s interest was
stolen by the sandman in the sky.

Speak
as if this were the very last words
they’ll hear. Make it loud and clear. Cut
out the jargon and hyperbole. Sing it with
luster and glee.

Speak
as if the sky were falling. And chicken
little was calling everyone to run
for cover. Allow your words to be their
umbrella. When the sky falls to pieces
as a puzzle you’ll be their blood and muscle.

I love him
I tell myself
I know that
We will be together forever
I don’t believe that
We could be separated
My thoughts tell me that
He’s the love of my life
Sometimes my heart lies and says
I could live an eternity
Without him
Like my friends say
“We’re perfect for each other”
And you can’t tell me
He’s not the one.

Now read from bottom to top.

ANGER  has  5  letters, so

Not all storms come to
disrupt your life, some
come to clear your path.

Life is a double edged
sword, exceed your expectations,
dance the night away,
be your best self.
Don't look back.

Some people feel the rain,
others  just  get  wet, so
just do what makes your
soul shine.                                                                          Jon York   2019
