It gets cold at night
I close my eyes
Try to see
The loved ones who've left me
Faces growing dim
Tears creep
Down my cheek where they seldom
Fall
Fists clenched
Heart tight
For its been
Too many a night
Since I've seen
How their eyes shine

Too many to count
With one hand
Forgotten memories fade away
To return in a frightening manner
Unexpected
Dead people like trying to haunt me, I guess.

I didn't feel like writing today.
I was afraid I'd say the unsaid.
I dont wanna face the truth,
I dont wanna give up on us.
Why cant you come back to me,
And be the way it's supposed to be?
But alas I'm a poet. I must write.

Greenville, 10 AM
I see water dripping off
their tiny black hands in the street
i hear their laughter echoing out
like wind chimes up the shadows of the city block
heat flows out of their purple heads
and carries up into the chlorine air
into the orchestra of traffic
through which
we vanish
like smoke

I am still haunted by my late wife's beautiful eyes
I see them when I fall to sleep and
they're still
with me when I wake In the morning
beautiful blue eyes I've never gotten over nor will
I ever day and night
I'm
haunted In a beautiful way
by her beauty I do not fear
her spirit
for
I love Helen as much though gone just as when she was with me In life I've never gotten
over
her beautiful blue eyes long may her spirit remain with me the rest of my
days

Kind

I stood in silence
Watchin you from distance
I heard that you are kind
And these words i heard
They keep playing in my mind cause your kindness is
No where to be found
In this universe
You are real special made
What you define
Is greater than what they see you are
What you are because of thee
You are a rear flower
Mbalie
Cause kindness roams are around ur pertals....
Kindness is the key to success

I let the dog out into the yard
And for the first time in years
He runs
My feet bare as I run down the street
Sidewalk cutting into my feet
With every step
The faster I run
The further he gets
Finally I grab him
And as soon as it started
The chase is over

I want us to be perfect
But this isn’t the world we live in
You don’t get what you want
You play your cards
As best as you can
if you even can at all
You are the earth and we are pure
For fire is the source of a million faces
We are the stars in this amazing universe
We are the candles left to burn in the darkness
We are the turning of the dervishes
We are the songs of the wallahs
We are the mountainous caverns
We are the fountains of terror and bliss
Each one of us has a million offerings (and more)
To lay at the feet of the mother

the oscillation of anger and you
frequents my day my night
my fuel injected gut muscles
my rocking back and forth rhythm
and limbs that squirm and writhe
-pause to drink-
hit and wrestle this day down
and it is up again flinging desire
and **** you where are you
all over the moon and the sun
and this desert of and this desert of
-pause to drink-
enough of my brain leaps out at a thigh
nails on a red table cloth snag moments cause chills
powers flow through my thoughts and laugh
the laugh of old certainty on new foolishness
i am renewed in my stupidity of aim vs landing
vibrating rattles clanking down some mountain cliff
-pause to drink-
keeping keeping keeping
arms in hands close parallel to myself
not, in this case, me not in this case anyone
is grinning and gripping and grinding steps
and you are out there circling something
with something lit and sizzling ahead no matter ahead
-pause to drink-
i am behind the sound has moved on banging

Be my lover, be my friend

Lord, be my end.

Be my Father, my Mother too.

let me wake in You

There's a noose around my guts
A lump in my throat
  & a feeling that I can't win
A staredown with Death
& for once I have the upper hand
My soul runs faster than I can see
& fear doesn't meet me here
What is this place?
& why was I brought here?
What is this victory?
  & why is it mine?
If this is only a scent
I want to taste it full

There are two woman walking on a yellow field
and the sun is shining just so,
the dawn before the festering heat.

I'm laying in the fields and I've got wheat
in my hair under my nails grain flecks ***** my eyes
tearing up my eyes and it look's like I'm crying
I'm crying

The two woman walk past and they don't stop
they don't do anything
because I'm lying in a ditch
and I'm not breathing
I'm not breathing
I'm dead.

I am a tiger and a fawn.
The she-wolf that screams to the moon at dusk
And the meadowlark that whistles to the sun at dawn.
I am darkness and I am light
Flipping my tangled hair to the cascading stars at night
Lifting my hands in prayer, releasing the morning birds to flight.
And I will protect them,
These birds of freedom.
I will carve their songs
Deeply into my heart
And set aside a space
Where the cruelty of this world
Cannot, ever, tear them apart.
So laugh my little children,
And sing your songs of glory,
You are safe
You are heard
And you are worthy.

"keep your eyes closed love. sometimes all you have to listen is to what the sound of the waves tells you to do"

When I was much younger, beaches were my second favorite places. I still love watching waves as they go by, crashing against each other and the whole process repeating all over again.
Me, yes me!
I am the answers,
To all my irresolution.
Solving the puzzle,
Around my girdle,
Only the person, taking me pinnacle
May be the factors, can influence
But only me, can be the moderator.

When we enter this life, we cry.
If someone loves us they smile and laugh, we took our first breath.
When we leave this life, we cry.
If someone loves us, they frown and cry, we took our last breath.

If you could read my mind,
You’d see a thousand papers
Filled with broken poetries
And deadbeat proses
Full of woeful verses
With mournful pieces
Of unfinished stories
That are yet to be written
And failed to be spoken;
If you could read my mind,
You’d hear horrible screams
And earsplitting weeps
From shattered dreams,
Kept in a nasty notepad,
Scribbled on a bed
Of bloodstained words,
Ringing in my head.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see the shadows
That lurk within me;
You’d hear the bellows,
Screeching the words
“I’m tired,”
“I’m a failure,”
“I’m stupid –”
I know it sounds stupid,
It’s pathetically foolish
And seems too *******.
If you could read my mind,
You’d feel the tears
I had ever failed to cry;
You’d see the people
That make the weak weaker;
You’d see the monsters
That consume my head;
You’d hear the hollers
That failed to be freed;
You’d see the heart
That still bleeds and bleeds.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see the face
I’ve failed to show back then,
The face I’ve faked back then.
If you could read my mind,
You’d see a character
I had ever failed to become
If you could read my mind,
You’d be able to read
A book you never wished
To touch and read,
But sometimes I still wish
Someone could read my mind.

Leaves shed
as she leaves behind
Those worn old faces and troubled minds
to a distant land
Her brave heart is fuelled by freedom

I walk alone
over graves gold and red
Rustle and crunch! complain the dead
With a grimace,
I bid welcome to my favourite season

The northwest breeze
shares a smoke with me
As I solicit the shade of a leafless tree
The dust gathers
around my feet, around my life uneven

A golden sky
when the red sun sets
A cloud floats by that resembles her face
with the colours
that make Autumn, to me, so appealing
Fall is the season to fall out of love. C'mon little sparrow. Fly.

his kind of love was the kind of love that you got excited for nothing.

it was the kind of love that you had with your best friend ; an evergreen kind of love.

his love was the kind of story that had no ending because there were too much to tell.

but,

his love was also like a bottomless ocean.
you need to be careful,
or else you'll drown.

I love him
I tell myself
I know that
We will be together forever
I don’t believe that
We could be separated
My thoughts tell me that
He’s the love of my life
Sometimes my heart lies and says
I could live an eternity
Without him
Like my friends say
“We’re perfect for each other”
And you can’t tell me
He’s not the one.

Now read from bottom to top.

I listen to the moon
The moon tells me a story
I memorize each detail
Carefully

I try to hide
In between the sheets of a notebook
The moon continues to shed
It’s light on my nook

Now, it’s half past twelve
I have forgotten all my learnings
I ask the moon to kindly
Narrate to me a story

Some fable to remember
To fall asleep peacefully with
The moon shows no mercy
The stars offer no support

I hide in the aftermath
Of the monstrosity of
The demons
Of my own making

The moon never tells
A lie
I have never been more
Alive

I can’t describe
In words
Or numbers
Or colors

There’s just smoke
Tears on my denim
My notebook
And the moonlight

as i gaze upon the moon
i immediately stare at your face.
i look at you with curiosity
i just can't really spot the difference.
I once looked at you like the stars looked at the moon.
Feeling as if there was nothing more beautiful than this moment, made with you.
Just as the last of the summer roses died so did you.
Until we meet again I will never give
My heart to anyone

Where do they all go
the unspoken words
Do they melt, into nothingness
burning in the backs of our throats
Or delve into the blue deepness of our thoughts
a sunken treasure
I think they hitch rides
with the hopeless
and the heartbroken
Sitting heavy on shoulders

And I'm walking with the weight of the world
and I'm walking with the weight of the world
