The Concrete Poet
is it
the sea
that covers
the land

or:

is it
the land
that covers
the sea?

I wonder if the lavender
yearn for her scent
whenever she's not present.

I wonder if the sunflowers
crave her little light
as they do in the night.

I wonder if the roses
envy her beauty
that captivated me.

Last night you made me feel alive,
For the first time in forever.
But not the kind of alive that she made me feel—
Because she made me feel like the world
in which we live in is enchanted,
When I touched her I believed in magic,
And I finally understood what it meant
To feel infinite at the hands of another soul.
I kissed her dizzy on the bathroom floor and an unnamed heaven was discovered in her lips.

Confess they say
I wouldn’t want it anyway
It hurts deeply that I can’t receive the love that I want
Is it hard to achieve ?
Or do I have to bleed for you to see
I’m sorry that I couldn’t be what you need
My love one day you will see that I was here for you to lead
suddenly missing mothers company a rough animal sound comes

you were nothing to me
you thought i play cool
so you said
"be true,
to me, you don't have to be strong."

you mean more to me
i got soft, vulnerable
so you said
"be strong,
life is on your own"

thanks for your
empty words
they did make their point.

Full of breath, energy, and life
Empty of kisses, adornment, and contentment,
But it's bright
Same color of my smile, teeth, and skin but as elusive as reality
I love you, my belly
You saved my brain and was a envelop to the pain
You contain the yummy of earth, the strife of life
Yet, it's not understood or exhumed to the beauty of the round
But compared to the emptiness and expense of the leveled for the flatter
I am not a flat Earther, mother Earth is found to be round.

When I was a child,
I was taught poetry wasn't mild,
It was deep as the sea,
And it seemed truly unachievable for me.
I was taught poetry had to rhyme,
Every single line, every single time.
So poetry seemed out of my reach,
Like chasing a seagull down a beach,
Jumping ever so slightly away,
Or soaring into the sunny day.

So I never thrived for what I thought would,
No, Could
Never be.

I guess now I'm fixing the mistakes of past me.

My last attempt
to circle the square
anger takes the throne

Isolated
no longer to share
servitude alone

Wandering unsure
things left unsaid
words to disappear

Into the dark
deserted forlorn
heightening my fear

The ladder broken
every rung
unable now to climb

Direction gone
a beggar’s song
—with nothing left to find

I am intoxicated by you.
The smell of your clothing,
The taste of your lips,
The feel of your hair,
The structure of your face,
Everything about you
Overwhelms my senses
And makes me
Pull you in tighter
And bring you in close.
I cannot stop
Wrapping myself in
Your arms.
You intoxicate me.

my chest's burning like
i'm ready to slam my phone
and i'm just so sick of

adjusting my feelings
revising my words
setting up my smiles

to keep everyone happy
avoid another contrariety
runaway from the reality

you forced her to laugh
i recently realized this is not healthy

Never confuse
Love with Lust...
The latter subsides
after a while
like a froth
but love my dear
remains
all in one piece
even when
It reaches
to a point
where every molecule
starts breaking apart...

It was only me
in geography;
there was meant
to be another girl
but she didn’t come.

It was just me
and teacher:
he kept on
asking me questions.

I had literally
no clue
to any of them.

I got a lollipop
Based on an item by my granddaughter Libby

No matter who you are
You have my deepest respect!
Sometimes I question pouring myself out

Telling someone every bad thing

Every nightmarish part of me

I want them to tell me I'm strong

I want them to pity me just a little

I want them to try to heal these scars

I want to tell you every dark crevice of my soul

And tell me it's okay.

Love is a tidal wave
that one alone
cannot brave.

Unless it's a boat for two,
then the ocean is made
for the both of you.
I wrote this for my friend's cousin's wedding.

His sees her only in his dreams
her pale sad face an icon there
as soft fell down her long dark hair

the real match in his life
his wife, her words cut him like a knife
whetted on the hearthstone of their life

in the far distance he roamed alone
a falcon there upon his wrist
flying far from his fingertips
far into the burnished empty sky

& she that lived so lonely there
an ancient house in the city of light
with the scented oranges & lemon trees
under the starry dome of night

one day she saw the distant bird
as it flew the lonely gyre
his magic caught her in her heart

so sweet was it’s silver dart
& with he that was her master now
her eyes kept down to hide this fire
the singing blood of lost desire

If you love something
Let it go

So you did
And I'm free,

But I'll return
Knowing

You love me

Scramble for Africa,
Like pieces on a board game
North, south, east and west
Plains leading every way.

They don't have Bibles,
they don't have faith?
Perhaps it is time
we teach them of our ways.

Let us begin by erasing their past,
let's take some of their artefacts,
hang them in our museums;
admire our murderous past.

Queen Fathima the Queen of Heaven
she tones her rose-red colour
and lent nature a cool spark.
Boom, that fires up big bang!
So she shades her hue
puts on her black niqab
so in her shadow nature can flower.
Now the full-blown scientia nature
is beyond every hand’s touch
eyes on for her Queen everywhere!

You tread a fine line
Afraid to look down.
Instead, pretend to be fine.

Avoid the doubts and fears.
No matter the cost,
The floods of tears.

They come biting back.
The insecurity,
A welcoming snack.

Latched on for dear life.
You find solace
At the edge of a knife.

Comforted and bewildered.
Malignant, yet benign.
You are bruised and blistered.

Here is where growth lies.

Is it the words whispered
in secret corridors
i love you

are they proclaimed boldly
from roof tops
I LOVE YOU

Or maybe love
sounds like laughter
giggles shared only between two

what if love has no noise
its beauty is similar to a sunset
seen and felt
but never heard

I'm not worthy enough for love
I'm not ready for love
Lord please save me

I don't want to live
I'm nothing but depressed
A lost case
A piece of work
A damaged ex

And see the world differently?

Like I have a destiny
Like anyone wants me
