Bhill Mar 2019
Drip, Drop, Splash

Drip, drop, splash...
Water, as it finds its final resting place below.
Falling with fellow (drops),
Falling off the cliff side, (drip)
Falling to form very special, beautiful waterfall, (splash).
Coming out into the light.
Waters from storms aged years ago.
Making their way through the tiniest of sandstone cracks.
Having been inside the mountains above for eons.
Not seeing daylight for all those years,
What a surprise, when finding themselves
falling and falling,
to make,
Drip, Drop, Splash...

Riding bikes in the mountains is fun
Riding bikes in the desert with sun

Riding the trails up and down

Riding the trails with dirt in your mouth

Riding the trails east and west

Riding the trails with pumps and drops
Riding the trails with sand and rocks

Desert Bloom
Bhill Apr 2019
When the desert gets rain, it wants to dress up
Their colors abound in the brightest of shade cups

The reds, pinks, and blues are showing off they're flair
Their beauty will amaze you, as you seek them with care

Some are hidden from view by their larger, taller friend
Their color will call out, cause they don't want to blend

You will not be disappointed with what your eyes see
Go out to the desert and see what can be...

gaze at the morning stars that have been above for eons

Rick the Toad
Bhill Aug 2019
Nature can be, savage or kind
Which way does it go; can it be defined

A young toad was trapped by a sprinkler today
His life could have ended and be swept away

I noticed him there and expected him to hop
He was stuck I could see and I needed to stop

The mower, would and could have, swallowed him up
Had I not looked his way and stopped so abrupt

His leg was trapped in a sprinkler retract
In came down quite hard with a vicious impact

I was able to raise it and help the toad out
His pour leg looked broke, in that there's no doubt

I hope that he lives and heals up real quick
I'm glad I could help, the toad I named Rick...!

Lonely Cricket
Bhill Sep 2019
The cricket was only doing what crickets do
Walking slowly up the walk looking for more crickets
Looking north and south, east and west
He or she appeared to alone
Where were more crickets
Where was the orchestra of fellow crickets
What happened

The wonderment stopped when this cricket let out “crick-it, crick-it”
The orchestra followed suit and sounded out in cricket harmony
Cricket harmony so welcomed by this once lonely cricket

Off it hopped to join in the symphonic noises created by the once hidden fellow crickets

Crick-it, Chirp, Crick-it, Chirp, Crick-it......

Desert Reflection...
Bhill Jun 2019
As we roam about the desert we learn to see what's there
The rocks, the dirt, the cactus, and the wildly blue sky glare

The creatures of this land can take on the heat that's here in stride
Turtles, snakes, and all the lizards take it on, with desert pride

Checking out the rock formations, that took many, many years
Shapes and colors, of these rocks, reflect their beginning, it appears

Reflecting for a minute, while gazing upon this land
Will open up your mind and give you much more than you planned

The desert, as we know it, can be a hostile place for sure
Wonderfully, beautiful and hostile, makes it mystical and so pure...

The desert has decided, to take away my mind
It is giving back some memories, that are the beautiful kind

It hard to understand, if you're are living somewhere else
The heat, the rocks, and the cactus, all can give you welts

Let's take each one and look, just how this love arrived
The heat, the rocks, and the cactus, certainly aren't deprived

The heat is hot, but the skies are clear, which makes for an awesome day
The rocks are red and beautiful, and that takes your breath away

The Cactus, of which there are many, and flowering is quite the sight
All together, they make up the desert, and all together they're a glorious delight

Why, oh why, did we move here, I used to have no clue
Now I know, and I understand, we came here for the view....

How and why is it birds can fly
What do they see, when they're up in the sky

So high, up above, and playing amongst clouds
Floating and soaring without any crowds

Finding the wind, to be their best friend
Having no fear of falling, never finding the end

Finding solitude and beauty as only flying can bring...

Dogs have habits, you bet they do.
They run and play, then eat and poo.

They Sleep all day, zoom, zoom all night.
They bark and bark, at something in sight.

They wait at the window or wait by the door.
To say hello to their people with eyes we adore.

Let's go for walk, they seem to be saying.
Really, oh really, that's my kind of playing!

They love without boundaries, they give the same way.
They are really true family and never, never betray.

Without them we are lost, so much that it hurts.
Pay attention to their habits, life with them, JUST WORKS.

Lost Worm
Bhill Oct 2019
I knew a worm who lost his way, boring and digging the earthen clay
He knew all along he could go where he chose, but lost his direction is what we suppose

Today, of course, was raining quite hard, he had to surface and let down his guard
He made the mistake of crawling too far and the end result is a bit bizarre

He ended up on the end of a hook, wet as hell as bait in the brook
It wasn't long before a fish can along and checked out the worm and sang him this song

Where oh where did you come from little worm
Are you lost and forgotten, and please, please don't squirm
You look very delightful I have to admit
I bet you are tasty, I think that's legit
If I eat you I fear, I may be unhappy
I have no control so let's make it snappy

You know the rest of the story....

Accompanied by her loudest, thunderous, dark clouds
What was she thinking, disturbing our tranquil, spring afternoon
With her banging around the evening skies
Allowing her pet wind to bet carried away
Leaving behind the largest drops of rain she could muster
I'm glad she decided not to hang around very long
She did, however, leave us her cool coat
And, and her colorful shawl

Cycle of Life
Bhill Jun 2020
suddenly, up out from his hole, the lizard crawled
crawled and wriggled over the dirt searching for it's prey
the prey that would sustain him for the rest of his life
he didn't know that it would be his final meal

a roadrunner, who delights in savory lizard treats right from the desert floor
he had no chance...
the cycle of life circles on as the roadrunner scurries away with the lizard dangling from its beak
