Texas Nights
Alan S Bailey May 2016
Thick neck
Big fat gut
Hide of a mule
Packing dog
"Venomous lie"
Digging for fuel
Oil stained hands
Animals in sight
Shed with a lamp
Bag over shoulder
A military tool
Stick out the thumb
A lost soul fool
Don't "go black"
Or you'll be a ***.

The Darkest Light
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
All is vanity*

Denied, all under a veil of secrecy,
Big waves that are hidden in the
Darkness of night, still turn boats,
Capsized by the enormous vast
Presence that no one sees but still
In essence we feel we're "safer," guided
By the way of the darkest truths light.

It controls each person, to hide unique
Truths with our own vague, hidden lie,
Make sure we all know it's there,
My how we stumble upon the nail
In the dark, whilst cleaning our visible
Skins surface of debris. It's all you see,
The "devil" is that cessation of this pain,
This suffering foot that bleeds.

You turn the corner and find yourself
Unawares in the darkness of this light,
Hidden underneath your cotton enclosure,
It will lead you in "earnest," it will show you the way,
It will empty your purse of quarters, it will make
Sure the suns light can never find you in the fullness of
Natures own "un-important" borders.

I Knew An old Man
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
I knew an old man who swallowed a peach,
A peach is a pepper a pepper a peach, a peach is a fruit,
My what a toot to have eaten such fruit, he swallowed the
Pepper to follow the peach but I don't
Know why he swallowed the peach,
Let's make some pie!

I knew an old man who swallowed a plum,
A plum is a cherry a cherry a plum, a plum is a fruit,
My what a toot to have eaten such fruit, he swallowed the
Cherry to follow the plum but I don't
Know why he swallowed the plum,
Let's make some pie!

He swallowed 'em whole...! Gasp...

Never Satisfied
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
Can someone just help me to do my own thing?
Can someone help me to forget the past?
Can someone help me to be quick as lightning?

Can someone help me to even bother?
Can someone help me become wise?
Can someone help me to try harder?

Can someone help me to get a clue?
Can someone help me be confident?
Of course, once I do it all just for you...

Horizon's Promises
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
Beyond the whole of all we see,
Darkness...
Before our lives we carefully lead,
Darkness...

And at the top of the mountain
Looking down upon our land
Darkness...
And at the bottom of the dunes
Looking up at the hot sun and sand
Darkness...

Before looking at everything point
Blank, why not face it, ever looming,
Overcoming both Heaven and Hell,
On the horizon, our hands tremble,
Stomachs crawling. Here I'll soon lie,
*In darkness...

Freedumbs-Society's Prayer
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
Live in the dark, sharpen the steel,
Play the charade, mould of grey clay,
The bump in the night fills you with fright,
Indulgence in the air? Make the "sinful" care.
Vacuum the world, the big flag unfurled,
Bump in the night,  neighbour takes flight,
Pollution in the air? No one seems to care.
Slow work to get by, free lunch for the fat guy,
Masterful touch, the poor "lazy guy's" on the crutch,
A place they can afford to stay if you think they're OK.

*If you can stay, I pity those who pray "society's way..."

Quick Fixes
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
Behind the lime light of your computer,
You look a little like a self absorbed fool,
Hoping to be noticed by the next place
Seeking a cyberspace money making tool.

You see the world as a toy, one for your selfish
Gain. You look for a way to make this life
A quick stop to get your ever needy way.
Your computer over your fat belly, cigarette stains.

But this is not a toy, life is a serious thing,
When we take things for granted, make people
Disposable, it's for the sheer hope that if you're "king,"
Maybe the quick fixes will help us live your costly dreams.

Gay Marriage-Real Freedom
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
Buying a car, driving, that's a privilege,
Owning a gun is a right,
So why is it that we all had the "fair right"
To free marriage, it wasn't for gays to decide?
It's strange how you could get a gun,
Purchase it with little concern for WHY,
Or where you intended to use, or if you'd
Had a mentally unstable mind,
But yet if you wanted to obtain a marriage,
You'd have to show them you were "in the right,"
Indeed this was never a free country until JUSTICE
Was finally done over such a great amount of time.

Wisdom Poem
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
As a wise man once said: "hinder not the learning of youth,"
So what do you do? You build walls, you are anti-social,
You don't want to talk about "it." you are angry and hurtful,
You have to punish them for misbehavior, then do what you
Please, you hand them everything they need, then take away
The keys.

A wise man once said: "better to lay you down for your friend,"
So what do you do? Every man for himself! Run off and find
A small lil' mine and dig and dig until you find gold as well,
Pick up a small piece of the pie while starving people in the
Third world die, we "can't help them all" so why not just accept
Bread lines?

A wise man once said: "It's not ours to **** others, you shall not ****."
So what do you do? You make tanks and nuclear submarines,
You create machines of death and destruction for our "protection"
With the very weapons that so easily can turn back upon us,
You always join in every war and say destruction is simply
"A must."

Wisdom has been turned into words alone, we speak it, but we do
Not act upon it, thus we become hypocrites and knaves upon thrones.

My Weird UFO Dream
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
I was in a small crowd of roughly 300,
I was standing there watching the cloudy skies,
Near the beach. It was then that the spaceship landed,
Building speed, out of the blue, it found someone,
To take them away for their human life.
A battle broke out, it was almost like
A Transformer had just become the
Next alien spacecraft, and there was
Nothing like it, or so it seems.

I said "NO," seriously not liking the
Idea of this alien taking a poor human being,
But you know what the alien found?
Too much of a match, wrestling, he wound up
Losing control and the human won,
Walking back to the crowd. His friend gave him a
Cigarette and the right to look like a big space man
Had finally gone down...

Tomorrow's Newspaper
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
Would you attend a half-time funeral
Near the oak and pine branch at the cemetery,
Floral bouquet in hand, the last stand,
For the fool who dazzled in the light
Of dark, sorting through old newspapers,
Cigar in their mouth, unseen by such
That they remained happily in front of
Live TV watching the 7:00 news, amuse,
A vague smile, broken down besides
The window pane of a thousand tomorrows
Yet to come that never will. You will see them
All come, when they finally reach you at full
Speed, to end, to the same place you already
Arrived at in the light, and found the truth
Is not anything mystical or a fateful message,
It's ironically simple, life is simply life.

No such thing as a past life...
Your past life is today. You woke up,
Went to your work, lived by your
Lot you sustain upon, and are then
Weary from your many partures this night.
Now to find rest and safe haven the green
Grasses await you, of your bed spread,
To rise again and greet life tomorrow,
The stumbling, the fogginess of waking
up once again awaits you, no longer dead.

Tempted By Angels
Alan S Bailey Apr 2016
From day to day, everyone seems to be a bit off,
Some sort of people seem to be the same,
All the time doing whatever is popular enough,
Looking for a political or religious symbol to blame.

It's not true to me, it doesn't have to be,
It can be true to you, I won't make you see
My light the way I must believe your god is true...

Me? I'm trying to make sense of all of this,
Why with one little prayer a man can be pure,
Somehow his imagination sent us to hell, we are fewer,
I tell you it's not right, and you label me an evil-doer.

A superstitious lot, aren't we all? Everywhere I go
I hear all of these people have saved us from hell,
From temptation in this boring, ******* up society,
I don't think they know how to make a change, a copy
Of a copy is still a copy, but me? I'm born to live free,
I can see, but I wouldn't give it up, even if I would be godly,
I would rather grow up to be the same old unique me...

There are so many things wrong in this world,
If the constitution no longer has any effect on
The many kinds of laws that can be set in motion, can
We again vote against white/black marriage, for one?
Do you take the pieces of the puzzle and leave out
The ones that offend the common folk, even if it
Means forgetting about the right to the pursuit of
Happiness for ALL? Not just you and your "straight"
Drones who always do as their told?
We'll keep pretending that the rules don't apply,
If it's ruled unconstitutional, they'd still put it
Up for law, as if the constitution doesn't have
Or hold any sway on what is a decent choice for all.

Why not vote this country as appealing to the commoner,
Why not make it a place where only the rich are served,
Why not make cameras that fly and can remove any privacy,
Why not try and keep Mexicans and Muslims out again,
Why not bring guns and children closer, who cares,
Why not endorse psych drugs and throw caution to the wind,
Why not make bombs big enough to end the world.

This is the America we already know today...
Democracy>Constitution as far as you're concerned, admit it, Gop'ublicans!

Campside Remembrance
Alan S Bailey Feb 2016
Every weekend at summer camp
Memories of the midnight walks we made,
The rushing of the silvery creeks
As well as the daily art and games,
Entertainment as well as molding clay,
The mountainside at night gave good
Presence, the moon offering her halo,
With the memory of endless essence so,
During this time of adventurous fun,
A story telling we campers would all go.

Her raspy voice, I can remember well,
Those cute sparkly playful brown eyes,
We walked side by side, she told me that
The truth was being denied, she was a
Girl in disguise, how I dream of her
In Garnet, Capricorn. That feeling of total trust,
Now I will probably never be close to
Anyone I love again, already grown old,
To old to ever dream, but what a dream,
A lovely bliss to know that she was my friend.

One day, when the time is right, we'll find it,
This feeling again, of wild spirited joy, campfires,
Of following the forest path, now innocence lost,
A time that is long-gone and past, and if it
Never happens again, the darkness of night
With quiet whispering, story time moon light,
I will never forget her, never will I forget that
Beautiful freckled face, those beady eyes,

*No, never forget you, not for all time.
Alan S Bailey Feb 2016
If it is not a popular dream, they will dispose of it.
About the only thing this country has ever proven,
Is that on their best days they are about this:
A straight couple, with children, sitting in a
"Brady" home with their girls play with dolls,
Boys play with toy soldiers and football,
This is it, everyone!
The death of the Progressive Era, may we all become drones,
In the best known words of the Borg in Star Trek, Next Generation:

"RESISTANCE IS FUTILE..."

And we'll all be assimilated.
Prepare to be re-assimilated into society...!!!
What joy...NOT

Unless someone stops these sickos from further dampening what little hope the minority communities have ever had in years...

What is sharing? Abraham Lincoln said "Sharing is Caring..."
What is it though?

*I want to share my dreams with others,
I want to share this wild world with them,
I want to be a part of the natural goodness,
I want to find truth in solutions, not problems,
I want to avoid being part of a cult,
I want to avoid the haters, graffiti and gangs,
I want to achieve higher goals than laymen,
I want to be something different, not insane,
I want to have an uncommon interest,
I want it to be one not necessarily having to be
That of religion, destruction, politics or guns,
I want others to believe something different,
I want us all to be able to share honest, simple love.

Eco-Terrorism
Alan S Bailey Feb 2016
Being "in the right," this nation of sick animal killing,
Insect spraying lunacy has now gone ahead
And called us all a bunch of Eco-terrorists,
Yes, that is right, we're all "conspiring evil," everyone.
Whatever.
Cute, we're the villains for stepping in between
Their atrocious evil-doing and all of it's "purity."
May you all burn in hell if nature ever made one.

That Part
Alan S Bailey Feb 2016
Nikki*

You are a feeling,
Always present, a spectre,
A mere memory, once so
Vibrant. You feel like an
Empty spot in my very being.

Once there was joy and life,
All that is and was and
Will be is now bitter-sweet,
Tossed in the smoking fire.

Nothing but your number
Your name, your eyes,
You are a space where once
Was hope and care and peace,
These things burn up as well.

I gave up, and cast your memory
Into the fire, you will always be
Nothing but the smoke that climbs
Into the air and nothing else.

Encounters
Alan S Bailey Feb 2016
There are thousands of cars everywhere, parked,
Some to the sides, others facing each other,
The outside a gloomy dark grey haze,
The sun casting a pale empty light over the
Desolate, bleak landscape of sand far away.
Hundreds of empty cars, an end-days scene,
This dark tunnel unbelievable as can be,
I'm looking for a cause of all this I'm seeing,
Suddenly these angry glossy eyes of "the thin one"
Right before me, in an instant I see him staring back
At me, like a preying mantis? It's something unreal.
*But this is how I found out about them in my dream.

Envisioned Light
Alan S Bailey Jan 2016
With the sun
The fire spirits
Bring amber hues
Golden and applied
To a weathered canvas
In the deep blue water
Floating in pools
Of violet and marine
Evermore fulfilling
Evaporating upwards
Floating as silk-smooth white
Clouds, then only descending
Into the emerald green
And soft grass
Holding flowers
Giving them
A cordial of life
With her laughter
Echoing afar.

Writing Matters
Alan S Bailey Jan 2016
I would that if you increased
The spoken statements on your mind,
Would be you used this tone with me,
I'd "lop off your head," for better words
Suit me fine, defended by a suit of armor, one
For my own well-minded ears hearing safety,
An armor I deserve for being your king,
Your master, you are my throne even,
I sit on you when I'm sad, and spit on you
When I'm mad. This is it, there's nothing
More to say, you wash your mouth out now,
My "honest perfection" grows day by day.

A Non-Trending Poem
Alan S Bailey Jan 2016
I would write my poetry every single day,
To be trending
Not to be trending
It couldn't matter either way,
I'd write it because it is what I love
To do. Poetry isn't a game for popularity
Points, it is a form of art, and even  if it
"Isn't cool with you," I will still just do my best
To write my honest feelings through and through.
Probably an instant failure. I'll just trash it (as a private poem) Sorry to waste your space, guys.

It is not that I have made wrong choices
It is not that you do not matter to me
It is not that I must always be isolated
It is not my "imaginary friends" and "voices"

It is that you are way to demanding of me, I have lost a lot of
My most precious dreams, and am only running on empty.
Sorry if this isn't an excuse to you, but you're not me,

A story 2,000 years in the making...

Sparkling, beautiful vivid hues
Totally amazing stunning array,
The sky a deep blue with the sun
A vibrant white gold, whispy, cloudy
Haze, misty and peaceful, eloquent,
A piece of nature in your own backyard,
In endless awe, all of us watching this amazing
Clear blue day, whether the building and filthy
Trash dumps and rusty cars are in your way.

Such a desolate scene, temporarily blocking what
Was brought about by someone's envisioned dreams.

He's always around to be a wisest leader,
Loves to take you down if you failed inspections,
He's just so perfect!

But who cares, I'm the worst because
Of some stupid argument at a door.

It's always around when no one can see,
A glimpse into the truth of how you feel
Just within the thought, the written music,
No one can hear me, I am like a dream,
I fly in your sleep, yet leave you when
You wake up and find in your mirror image,
A tear that has yet to start forming
At your already wet and misty eye.
You seem to become the storm front,
The liquid that will only flood inside,
But never will show because you're more
"Mature" than to let any feelings fly at night.

Being "Yourself"

I am glad that you have a belief.
I am glad that you must always believe.
I am glad that you speak of it as guaranteed fact.
I am glad that you put this "fact" on various billboards.
I am glad that you will "live forever," one well worn past.
I am glad that you have a unique brand of faith-based words.

But you can not make me be able to "see."
But you can not make me feel I need to be "aware."
But you can not make me understand it as fact alone.
But you will not make me enjoy seeing it everywhere.
But you will not make my speech echo it's ideals.
But you can not take away my unique brand of my own.

And you can never break me, whether with "kindness" or "cruelty,"
No matter the guilt trip, I will hold on to what I want to believe.

And you made everything glimmer and glow,
Brought sunshine and flowers and bows,
Without asking one thing of me at all.
Today, you stand there waiting on my $,
Watching me as though I am a criminal,
One who invaded into your sacred world
For themselves and with no rules to follow.

Now everywhere one looks it's a "buy now" sign,
Displeased that I won't give you your "moneys worth,"
Joy in the pleasure of the things that are free and fine,
So you took everything free and made it much worse,
But will impart the same old good times to those who
Are willing to part with yet more pennies and dimes.

Prudent Devils of "Light"

When men brought him the Pandora's box, guns, the angel of "light,"
The "innocent and perfect" of all love, armed himself to the teeth,
To bestow such "safety,"  around children when armed, allows us to risk
The lives of all while the just "feel safer" having one, "less likely harmed,"
He is enlightened of all things and kills to survive, lives by the sword,
But "can not die, will not die." He is the advent of all this and more,
And he started this practically perfect way of staying safer in order
To find more "dangerous targets," even children, to shoot at in war.

Mind and spirit, the principle of human being...
This is not what one has known to be simple,
Yet advanced as we are, the truth still eludes,
An everyday individual, yet what are they?
Simplicity is found in the reality of our youth,
Is this life just  a concept of time and space?
Were we really brought here by some sort of
Alien space ship, or a genetic miracle master race?
I wouldn't assume anything. Sitting under the pine tree,
You can see every last hue as perfect, as real as time made
It out to be, just as light takes time to reach you,
Was brought to your eyes so you could truly see,
See that which is actually a part of you and me.
To be one with environment, you see the unruly storm,
You see the hot dust of the desert, you see the ice of
The glacier, the mountain and it's frosty height, or the
Beautiful garden and all it's delights, if you can
Look closely, a person falls asleep, dreaming,

*You can see it all living within their being...
Just saying-we must be part of the universe, our emotions and human needs can not exist if we are greater than the whole of all we are given, our natural needs-to survive

Always the flow of water-across muddy banks and
Passages into lakes filled with the essence of nature,
Pulling tides and the smell of alpine, hickory wood and
firn. Always the flow of water-ever passive, trance state,
Picking up speed it rushes, like the sound of blood rushing
Through the earths veins, towards endless vinyards and orchards,
Cascading over cliffs like sparkling mist, into ravines and it continues
On. Into the forest, into the pines and the sage brush-not thinking,
Quick to find solace in this mid-morning dew, this canopy, deer hide.
Continue to be cloaked by the grass and thistle, branches and vines,
Not stopping, ever hiding in it-never looking back until reaching that
One point where it is certain that the past concrete, cement and steel,
Are but a thing of memories of tragic times to be kept so forever, never
Looking back, never to return or see them again until the very world ends.*

Always the tide of stream water, endless in the universe, it's strength,
And it's endless source, that source, from which all life flows...

Each day the pollution fills this world with dry air,
Each day children are subjected to noise pollution,
Smoking, cars, madness and broken households,
Each day the world grows more careless of these things,
More unwilling to change, less interested in actual solutions,

This moment all will come to an end with an endless sky

Every moment less pollution increases her will
Every moment the moon's halo is becoming vivid
Every moment the clouds are smooth as silk
Every moment we take one step closer to saying goodbye
Every moment we are given more air to breath, greener hills
Every moment is another step closer to nature, to life*

After 2000 years, such irony, so much beauty, such amazing truth...

The Big Average Answer
Alan S Bailey Dec 2015
If I ask you what you think about who's in charge,
You say it's not my need to question,
To so quickly be the opposition of the one who
Fed us, clothed us, kept our home clean,
As well as kept locks on everything we'll need
In life to truly succeed. It's not to question.
When I ask you what you think of the score,
You say: "The fault lies in your hands, you are
The punk, (the riff-raff) the failure, the defeatist,"
The bold way men always do things, "*** 'er done!"
That's how it's meant to be, like a Ford commercial,
That and big tires, big guns, big on war, (big on
Everyone falling in line to be what society wants)

Very low on counter-destruction, love, solutions,
Being the key to our problems, communications,
On a small note doesn't seem to save anyone,
Can not solve any threat, and can't solve terrorism,
Hate, misery, and loneliness. From a long view, the "big"
Answer you give me, I still must confess, I disagree,
And big daddy tells us we can make change, in a world
Full of musty traditionalism, societies duality, he makes sure that
"Anyone can see" it's "always been possible for you and me."

At The Crossroads
Alan S Bailey Nov 2015
Her short hair glimmered, her eyes frantic,
like a deer in the middle of the grass,
her hands at her sides and a small jacket on
as she continued down the dusty path.
Her arms are soft, delicate like feathers
placed around her amidst small floating leaves.
She stood in the sunlight, with lost letters written
mis-spelled out all across her hand in pen of ink.
But still she had to move on, a young man stood
in front of her like a quick spoiled cat, he was dark,
a strange boy with eyes brown and hair solid black,
I still think about this, stuck on grass green parks,
like autumn days, all the wonder and moments we shared.
23 years can pass so quickly for some...

Case Spadet!
Look at all of the beautiful stars,
(yea, get a flashlight, it's too dark)
Look at the way I float so high up!
(the affects will wear off soon enough)
You are my chief of tactical officer!
(I'm also on your own, that makes two of us)

*We are rank 2 divisions finest, and this smore's for you!
Hippies high, lol...just playing. This is merely comedic, I don't intend any offence.

Cloud of Power Ties
Alan S Bailey Nov 2015
What's wrong with us getting together?
Conquering the world or conquering a
Fresh cup of coffee? What's wrong with
Being a pair, or being the friend sitting next to me?

What's wrong with just being different?
Being the one in purple, or being the one
With the suit and tie? What's wrong with
Being yourself in a world made for girl & guy?

Where's the innocence in taking control?
Having to mop up after the "worldly crowd?"
Or having to see you've made a mess for once,
Taking time to come down from your power cloud.
Just when are they being themselves...?
hmmm

I will sit here, watching you, to make sure you
In no way resemble the human animal,
Whatever you believe you are, until you suffocate,
Never again to be let lose, entrapped in the barriers of
Modern man's stifling, energy draining machines and tools,
But to be yet another failed experiment,
A natural person who has yet to be the
Next Einstein, or the next lead politician,
University professor, what have you, business tycoon.
Regardless of saying "judge not," in the end
You have all failed US.
I stand here prepared for you to show me
The tricks you learned in your spare time at
The east side ghetto gangster zoo...

Saying It All
Alan S Bailey Nov 2015
You know the funniest thing that occurred to me,
Is you and everyone like you, buzzing around trailer trash,
Fighting and lashing out at anything you don't understand,
You call us haters, why? That we accept the LGBT community?
Because we wont close our doors to them and "take a stand?"

Signs of Halloween
Alan S Bailey Nov 2015
In my dreams the spirits float far and fast ahead,
Delivering all the souls of the deceased in trips,
Carried to the one abyss their bones still hide the red,
Keep the truth when they are dead, so they are torn as sticks.
These bones carry the truth till they meet one with life,
Reach the fields and the dead part all their fear
With a silence that is deft they use a hatchet or a knife,
So that none can tell that death's dark spirit is quite near.
In the meadow none can see that foot prints have been made,
They walk until dawn is come, so they all must roam.
Misty and translucent, above the earth of wet brown clay,
They shall keep walking until they've found deaths home.

Real Maturity
Alan S Bailey Oct 2015
It takes more heart to stand up to the "fire"
When it threatens the very life of your loved ones,
Than it takes to hand some guy easy money
And then go off and help yourself to rich freedumbs.

Her Summer
Alan S Bailey Oct 2015
On this morning the sun rises,
And I leave my new bed.
I get up and go outside and the sun is warm on my head,
Oh the warmth. There are green hills in the distance.
I go to the tree and behold the blueness of the sky
And watch the sun rise as clouds are forming.
All is still and overhead a prairie bird flies.
There is a great field of wheat beyond me.
I lie down and relax staring up into eternity,
And I am already used to this.
I look up smiling and I can really see.
I wind up staying like this for life,
And I’ll never go back,
Back to my way of life before this field of grass I lay on.
It's all a vast encounter with nature.
It teaches me to release my fears and troubles to her.
As the golden sun warms my face, all I see is you.
And as its warmth enters my chest and warms my core,
I feel you in that warmth,
Her summer's beginning.

Healing Crystal Skies
Alan S Bailey Oct 2015
I always have loved you. Maybe when the time is right
100 years from now, or 20 years, who knows?
In a future life of inconceivable delights,
I will find you again somewhere, amid sparkling nature,
Living on and on you wonder why you can not die,
Like a crystal that will withstand the test of time,
Though you can not ever be the only one,
Be this moment always like this love of mine.
