A Non-Trending Poem
Alan S Bailey Jan 2016
I would write my poetry every single day,
To be trending
Not to be trending
It couldn't matter either way,
I'd write it because it is what I love
To do. Poetry isn't a game for popularity
Points, it is a form of art, and even  if it
"Isn't cool with you," I will still just do my best
To write my honest feelings through and through.
Probably an instant failure. I'll just trash it (as a private poem) Sorry to waste your space, guys.

NIKKI
Alan S Bailey Feb 2015
You're still so far away I don't know where to start,
How hard it rained the day I left
And the pain driving into my heart,
I remember her sitting there, staring at me,
A lump in my throat, it was near Halloween,
Her short hair, her brown eyes so keen, so sharp,
Like she could cut right through me,
Like that day you broke my heart,
And only I know who you really are,
And this empty dryness still wont leave,
I don't expect your loving me although love is free,
Don't forget though that my love has always been near,
I've always been watching and waiting year after year
It's just a little bit farther, reach for the sparkling stars,
It can all be over soon, but I'm still not sure where to start,
The suffering in your life and your pain can all end soon,
I'll be in your arms just call me, find me, I'll be waiting for you.

So a person is gay, so they have to "have their way"
With a simple ring,  pizza or cake, a legal wedding day,
Doing things that straight people do everyday.
So a person is black, so they have to "vandalize,"
Even if in a decent non-violence as they demonstrate.
Remove the "threat," gang up on them even if
"Black Lives Matter" is all they were there to say.
So a person is an anti-war hippie, don't listen to them,
Instead go to war EVERY time and "make the world
A better place," especially for our children!
So a person is eccentric, "a dreamer," they have no right-of-way,
You're in this so-called free country,
Leave all of your dreams, your goals, your hopes
At home or take them to another MORE LIBERAL
Country to stay.

In life you are a total nobody if you aren't:

A "socialite superstar" who sacrifices moral for popularity
A tech freak
A work-a-holic
A married man or woman (opposite *** only!)
An insensitive "cowboy"
A confederate flag sympathizer (incomparable to ******, I guess)
A religious fanatic
Someone who is so open minded they are open to bad or EVIL
Rich as hell
Extremely violent or purposefully "unaware of bullies"
Anyone who graduated with honors (3.5 or higher, please!)
Certain everyone should work and/or drive
Covered by expensive life insurance
Popular with dozens of "honest friends"
A gun owner who doesn't believe in the need for regulation
A cigarette smoker (but *** is a "bigger devil!")
Hating cross dressers
A nudist hater
Built with a six pack
Absolutely certain that every hippy is "the devil"
A nature hater
Willing to **** anything that moves (they are the pests)
Giving away all natural love for money
One who loves to go to war, a.k.a. "gung-**"
Gifted with perfected teeth
One to ignore the "little lower people" at work/school
A "brown noser," trying to even out-do your mentors
A cheeky person obsessed with being manager (I'm #1!)
Poised to kick someone out on a moments notice (no hustlers here!)
Always on "mommy" and "daddies" side, even if they went too far

The list goes on and on, but you need to be most of these to succeed!
It's a long list! So many sharks! So little care about them...

The Company Prophet
Alan S Bailey Apr 2015
Miles and miles of emptiness abound,
Amidst a flowerless field the life is charcoal,
Ashen with soot and grime, this musty all around,
The scars of yesterday can still ensure rich gold,
If you take the past and forget it you can,
Insensitive is the way of the money maker,
It's just a hog, or a dog rapper, this silly dance,
A vase of roses next to a used up homeless man.
This world is filled with both dark and light,
Give and take,
So why do we give to ourselves more?
The pieces fit if we just use our open minds sight.

Backwards Beliefs
Alan S Bailey Mar 2015
It's funny to consider the "truth"
What almost every person still believes,
A 2,000 year old religion telling me
That a man walked on water easily,
The Red Sea parted for Moses,
Frogs and locusts fell from the sky,
That every first born child in Pharaoh's
Court died in a single night, slain by a man
Named Jehova, the "only true creator of all life,"
A man survived for a week in the belly of
A whale, Noah and his family were on a
Vessel somehow big enough to house
Two of every last creature and set sail,
These are the strangest tall tails I've ever heard,
And I'M probably corrupted because
I wont actually believe it, not a word!
YEA! We all know you exist! That on every street corner you preach this stuff, yea we've seen it! And you know what? You have locked us all up for years saying WE are the lunatics! But you guys are even CRAZIER!

Alan S Bailey Mar 2015
I know we've had our share of troubles,
And you're always quick to criticize,
How I've failed you every step and turn,
I guess you saw a way to use this guy.

So then I get to stay as long as I shut up,
Do as I am told, keep all of my emotions in,
Fill your life with garbage and waste your time again,
Until the day you find a better replacement,
Only a matter of when.

Therefor I came up with a way, the only way to win,
Simple, you just take off, find the furthest place to go,
Leave as much space between you and me and
Never take free time out to speak to you again,
Only a matter of when.

All Hallows' Day
Alan S Bailey Jul 2019
On my journey to the center of the world
Of phantoms dreams, I find all my thoughts with
Mysteries. The moon is shining bright and there
Must be a werewolf out tonight. In the dark I see
Ten people in white-a group of preachers, cursing the
Zombies, and I can also tell the vampires around
Every corner must be down below. Every night it's the
Same, the sanity of reason never seems to be
In anyone's brain...the full moon comes I hear
The wolfman call, this seems like a normal night
In fall, but then I can tell you it's just filled
With witches calls. They cook their roasts and cast
Bolts and hail, and I can hear them chant while I'm
On the speeding city Light Rail.

Yes, Tomorrow's End
Alan S Bailey Mar 2021
I stand between myself and this constant struggle
it goes on in my mind without end,
when you sit before the mirror and see
you're not always the one but that just might depend.

I can once be allowed to rest these bones,
true talent comes from getting back up
even when you fallen and you're alone.

It's this path I'm on, it twists and turns.
When I'm sad does it not show?
Tomorrow? It's faster than the speed of light,
Past is still here yet I'm well beyond anyone's sight.

You get lost in truth or fiction and decree
it's following you though it'll always be the one
to let me be. I'm here in the shadows yet
you see me aware-you got me caught in the
hatred-lost in a path that isn't fair.

If only we had tomorrow, a million tomorrows!
I would sing to the sun and breeze that yesterday
would become a mystery and I could still keep all my
memories! But tomorrow never changes from today.

I guess that's what they all know-once it comes to the end
of the play...

Always Win
Alan S Bailey Jan 2017
It doesn't matter what I say
And it doesn't matter what they know,
Tomorrow for me will be a rainy day
After they're through sending me where
No one even knows I may go.

And no matter what happens to me,
You'll be fine-fancy free,
You're all the same, just looking for something
Or someone that looks just like me to blame,
No one would hurt you just the same.

*And what was the point for this madness
That won't ever come to an end?
No attempt to find a way to ease the tension?
Why can't peace between us ever begin?
So you can always be certain you'll always win.
Alan S Bailey Jan 2015
So, the white man has come here, brought us "gifts"
Guns so we can all sleep less soundly, worried that
The stalker will find us in some dark alley-way,
Each one of these gifts are "perfect," "protect us" day by day.

So the white man has made his home here! He's got our "answers,"
He's made images and books that **** trees, needless to say
We don't need trees anyway, he's made houses that take even more,
His home is one of straw, will one day be gone but the scars remain.

So the white man has "aided in kind," he's given us blankets,
Blankets with all of our "needs met," yea we all don't mind,
Getting the small pox, leave this life behind it's fine,
We'll be better off dead than alive, but nature's deemed "less kind."

And all that I ask you is this, where will we be in the future?
We all know where this is headed. These creations are a lie,
Our lives and the land cursed with evil machines that will
Bring innocent life to an end, whilst men in vans take flight.
Tribal scars home answers nature innocent cursed machines

The spoken statements on your mind,
Would be you used this tone with me,
I'd "lop off your head," for better words
Suit me fine, defended by a suit of armor, one
For my own well-minded ears hearing safety,
An armor I deserve for being your king,
Your master, you are my throne even,
I sit on you when I'm sad, and spit on you
When I'm mad. This is it, there's nothing
More to say, you wash your mouth out now,

I am glad that you have a belief.
I am glad that you must always believe.
I am glad that you speak of it as guaranteed fact.
I am glad that you put this "fact" on various billboards.
I am glad that you will "live forever," one well worn past.
I am glad that you have a unique brand of faith-based words.

But you can not make me be able to "see."
But you can not make me feel I need to be "aware."
But you can not make me understand it as fact alone.
But you will not make me enjoy seeing it everywhere.
But you will not make my speech echo it's ideals.
But you can not take away my unique brand of my own.

And you can never break me, whether with "kindness" or "cruelty,"
No matter the guilt trip, I will hold on to what I want to believe.

Yes, All Good Things
Alan S Bailey Sep 2015
I'm surrounded by the feeling of doom,
This is only the beginning of the pain!
My life a mere part of this game,
Visible at every turn, feel I'm being followed,
Feel death is watching me, every single day,
It's violent, my stomach, dry mouth-I swallow,
Every thing will wind up going down the drain.

It's only a matter of time...

Years ago I used to think it was a value...
Not to swear in front of "grandma,"
Be clean cut and tidy all the time,
Follow all the rules, straight A's at school,

Buuuuut...when I got older...

Ooooops! Said a swear word, a sprinkle of donut
Over my fat belly, the world on the blink
Is dragging me under one cell at a time,
Toward my eventual demise, so I can drink
Coffee and just wait for everything to stop,
It's like we're all being stalked by death,
I'm really feeling dizzy,
This cold scentless style-free flat linen bed,
Then I breath until I know I no longer can.
The lamp dims, the hospital spinning.

You hold me in your arms and caress
My hair, I feel so soft as a feather, I grasp
At your short dark hair...so light and smooth.
Until you are kissing my neck, you move
Along so graceful, playful-wild-all that you do.
You hold me so close, I feel as if I am lost
In the world of natural love, like there is
A never-ending supply, gold from the skies above.

In time I am rocked back and forth between
The ebbing tide like a flow of water from the sea
Is holding me. It keeps me in a form of motion
Not unlike I am a boat and your arms are the sea.
Visuals aren't needed, this is all I feel and all I see.
We are sitting there in the green green grass,
It's a beautiful warm day, all sunshine and soft rain,
As if it was brought about from a world so divine.
We will forever be in this place...we'll always stay.

Classtime With Mrs. Pacheco
Alan S Bailey Feb 2015
In the early morning we knelt down,
And in the cool damp kindergarten classroom air,
The whole place bustled with so much sound
As all the children gathered there.
It was then the birds flew in and out
Between the bushes, through small holes,
During days we learned what their music was about
When we sang and laughed with giddy souls.
In the end we'd pronounce our letters dot our i's
And in the afternoon paint while warmed by the sun,
The golden birds one by one flew by,
And in the end our masterpieces were done.
I would come back with brightly cheerful eyes
Each step I'd take up the driveway so joyful, home.
I made a painting in class that day, it got 1st prize,
It was a painting of a sun and birds of my own.

Living Your Dream
Alan S Bailey Oct 2016
Vivid are all of my dreams,
Yes it's a place I go I believe,
I see visions, talk with spirits, feel,
When I am completely at rest.
Here, I am at a state where I am
Most alive when I am closer
To possible death, This warmth,
It fills me with a sense of truth,
The essence of my past, my youth.

I could have had riches and wealth,
I could have had everything, been a star,
I could have been a great musician,
I could have been famous, popular, gone "far."

But I would have given in to the age old
Way of the person who lacks confidence,
They need to be in the spotlight,
Hear the clapping near and far,
They need to over sacrifice,
They need to give up all their worth,
Sell out, become weaker, forget
Who they are.
*...and I am so much more than that.

Into the unknown, I walk down braving the heat
Searing and almost burning like hot cement,
Then dry and dusty like burnt sand and rocks.
I fall apart at the doorway, my strength all spent,
Falling into dusty shards of burnt ash.
Before me there is a violin playing as shadowy wraiths sung.
They sing a strange song, and I am visible to everyone,
The windows are on all sides, so I decide to run.
Up the stairs, running slow, feeling as though I can't,
Only finding a piano musty and cold, damp and old,
And I feel I am being watched as I look back
To see his red glowing eyes, as bright as coals.
Then I awaken to a forgiving night. It's cold, dark and black.

Lovers Abyss
Alan S Bailey May 2016
My voice rings loud and clear in the musty cellar,
Through the halls of the vast dungeon.
I call for one of them to come down and speak
To me about the "others," the valued, the "wise,"
It's the same thing every night, this dungeon.
I hear a creak, must be nothing, I turn on the light,
Swear I saw a ghost, still nothing. Vaguely,
I've been searching for an answer to this riddle,
It will only take a few moments of your time
To sit there between the vagabond with the fiddle,
And the one who must be low as slime.
It's your call-I ask you-for your opinion,
You laugh in my face-if I seek your words-I'm a disgrace,
Riddled with problems, they were handed to me
From a distance. I can still hear you laughing in my face,
Even from afar, even from my un-chosen wife's place.

The Big Average Answer
Alan S Bailey Dec 2015
If I ask you what you think about who's in charge,
You say it's not my need to question,
To so quickly be the opposition of the one who
Fed us, clothed us, kept our home clean,
As well as kept locks on everything we'll need
In life to truly succeed. It's not to question.
When I ask you what you think of the score,
You say: "The fault lies in your hands, you are
The punk, (the riff-raff) the failure, the defeatist,"
The bold way men always do things, "*** 'er done!"
That's how it's meant to be, like a Ford commercial,
That and big tires, big guns, big on war, (big on
Everyone falling in line to be what society wants)

Very low on counter-destruction, love, solutions,
Being the key to our problems, communications,
On a small note doesn't seem to save anyone,
Can not solve any threat, and can't solve terrorism,
Hate, misery, and loneliness. From a long view, the "big"
Answer you give me, I still must confess, I disagree,
And big daddy tells us we can make change, in a world
Full of musty traditionalism, societies duality, he makes sure that
"Anyone can see" it's "always been possible for you and me."

Bitter Sweet Whine
Alan S Bailey Apr 2015
Your voice echoes in the halls of my mind,
Fills them with a few sweet memories
Just enough to get by until the day I die,
A vague impression that at least someone
Had love that I could seek or find the vine.

But in the end we'll all be in the room,
Standing before the alter, right? Judged.
Some sort of ideal of someone who is
Angry at the world and wants them
To get what's coming to them, no way
To break this cycle with patient time to lend.

Bitter sweet this whine, it grasps at straws,
Seeps its way into our hearts and minds
Where it finds there is someone divine,
That which we must all face his wraith,
"He'll" be the one, this God, his kingdom vast,
To fill our world with firey pain if we all
Don't confess and repent again and again.

No, I'm not here to argue that a God can't exist,*
Or tell you that no one made this world,
That we can't find ourselves in a better place to live,
All I'm saying is that if there were such a person,
Someone behind the mask who made all of this,
They'd certainly not be here to seek so much
A way to make us to pay for every wrong we ever did!
Alan S Bailey Jun 2015
He stood with his face to the firey blaze,
The background sooty and ashy,
He told her "everything was alright, it's okay."
Violent flames lashing and smoke wisps vanishing,
It's just that...every second leads to something,
A cough, a rash...a blank wall...then some monitors,
Then you're dead, it's the same thing every time,
So why not live for good? Why not breath the air
Like you've never gotten the chance to know how,
To run like children into the woods...

*...or you're dead already.

Rainy Goodbye
Alan S Bailey Oct 2015
Your windbreaker holds back all of the rain that flows
Only seconds away from the curb where you stand,
Puddles distant near and far are the result from the
Violent storm at hand. I'll try to somehow understand.

Your hand stretches outward as if to beckon, but instead
You stick your finger up and let me know how you
"Really feel," but I'm always at your mercy, your dark
Brown eyes hold me in a somewhat helpless-make me reel.

If there was a way to go back to that time and find you there,
What I wouldn't give to tell you how you made me feel.
A lady knows when she's found her love, and there's no way
Without you I'll ever get bye when push comes to shove.
It's been nearly 26 years since we first met, and I still think of her every day. What can a person have ingrained in them that could last that long and somehow still mean nothing?
Alan S Bailey May 2017
What would it be like to be in your arms?
How would I feel protected by your
Amazonian charms, for now only a time
Filled with worry, my darkest day,
I the song bird, long hair, big doe eyes,
Would you with your short dark raven red hair
Be able to hold me as close and not become
Lost along the way, become 'trapped' in the love
Or take off when we 'can't get any space'
Any other way? You always do remind me
Of a twin 'sister,' I your 'brother,' lost in each others
Complex similarities. You see the pieces are alike,
But when you think about the pieces,
The truth is there's no telling if I'll ever be
Close enough to explore these arms,
Your pizazz, your wild charms, so boyish, yet light.
I'll be waiting for you on the other side,
Where the colorful green grass meets what's
Now become of this endless wait,
This extremely dangerous, toilsome life.

That Day-Busride
Alan S Bailey Mar 2015
Together, each day, in San Francisco on Christmas at the wharf, following our envisioned dream,
Youthful and childlike, the dock of boats and the ocean shore, standing in front of the Christmas tree,

That day, the day I first saw you, where you got sick and they let you off, sitting only a row behind, just over to the side,
At the meeting place, on the field trip watching you at the dusty Mission from a short distance, I felt something changing inside,

Together, at the piano in the square, playing our song "The Busride," our busride we share, that fateful day,
Every night, our whimsical moments together, in the ivory golden light of the moon, both asleep and at play,

The sidewalk, she runs toward me with her backpack, giggling she tries to smack me with it, then I remember,
You running towards me, clutching your lunch pail trying to land a friendly blow, three innocent lovers, September,

She's always been like a sister to me, and you, playful and boyish, like a total opposite, such unique treasures,
Breaths taken like the sea, onward like this music of hours, magical notes washing up on the shore in even measures,

Together, wishing and dreaming a dream so true, the petals I pick, the field of endless flowers,
I'm still on that bus, tomorrow, now and for all time, for the rest of my life, every moment, this eternal bus ride of ours,

Rain falling on and on to impart,
bringing the flowers a cordial of life,
With her laughter echoing afar.

That day-our busride, together...

Quickly hear my thanks as I enter your

Off my jacket and start in on your meal.
We eat and drink everything, unlike everyone else
You give us a small pat on the back, and so now
We must pull out our books and it is your
Turn to learn, to be brought to real light,
Our shined black shoes glisten in your lamp.
So now you will only take part in being shown
Our path to follow, the guide to believe
In, the miracle of speaking, of strange
Works, so you can pay all your money
Right to those who "will need it most."
As we leave, we only ask one thing,
That you always remember we'll be
Waiting on you, counting on your
Further interest in our promises.

From day to day, everyone seems to be a bit off,
Some sort of people seem to be the same,
All the time doing whatever is popular enough,
Looking for a political or religious symbol to blame.

It's not true to me, it doesn't have to be,
It can be true to you, I won't make you see
My light the way I must believe your god is true...

Me? I'm trying to make sense of all of this,
Why with one little prayer a man can be pure,
Somehow his imagination sent us to hell, we are fewer,
I tell you it's not right, and you label me an evil-doer.

A superstitious lot, aren't we all? Everywhere I go
I hear all of these people have saved us from hell,
From temptation in this boring, ******* up society,
I don't think they know how to make a change, a copy
Of a copy is still a copy, but me? I'm born to live free,
I can see, but I wouldn't give it up, even if I would be godly,
I would rather grow up to be the same old unique me...

Are quite simple to explain,
I'll never buy into the knife
And not into causing pain,
But that isn't popular
So I will have few friends,
Everyone is going to war,
Though bittersweet it's ends,
I guess it makes sense
The threats will end someday,
We'll just make life "Safer"
By blowing them all away.

Or whatever "solutions" still seem to work today...

What if another time, another space,

Why if we could have had just one chance,

Sparkling the stars, how I'd love to see them
In your beautiful, lovely, tender arms...*

So the rain it falls and falls for you,

I've had a fool and I've had fortune,
There have been mistakes and success,
I've been lost and in distress.

But life friends-not with me.
The best friends I've ever had?
Well, those would be music and
A love that's always free...

Loving myself, the me that no one
Will clearly ever want or need.

The Greater Truth
Alan S Bailey Oct 2019
If one is at an obstacle of an imposing sort
or with any other side step made, this state,
to find a way past each of these, in this life's
dangerous maze, somehow without mistake.

It's just that I've always stumbled
when I see that it's so **** far,
way beyond this side of the dark,
someone give me a way to find
the other side in the light,
if that is what it is, if this some
strange curse, a bad plight.

...or is it a greater truth?

Perhaps the "Gods are playing a trick
on me?" Or perhaps there is no way back
or forward. I look back at yesterdays
pain and see it's staring back.
Please.

Death is a visage we all put aside until
it is right there and there's no way
to avoid it. Just happen to be able
to keep running...unavoidable,
This and that. Stunning. I will write, I will
work, I will not hide. Eventually we all
have to face it, and sooner or later
we all have to try to fight it.
It's that stone cold that hangs over
you even with vices. They just happen to
be able to visualize a nicer tomb
than was waiting for you. I guess
that was worth all the human sacrifices.
Just thought I'd give it a whirl. It's been a while since I wrote...

Daddies Deadly Toys
Alan S Bailey Aug 2015
Daddy has his "toys" still, he keeps them in good condition,
His sentimental joys or whatever he may want to "need,"
His toy car, his toy planes, his toy guns and ammunition,
And can you sense them? Millions of them, spinning at full speed,
At thousands of miles an hour, drilling to make the oil  bleed,
Just to make these toys be everything we'll ever know or see.

These "handy helpers" help themselves to all of their toys,
Vaguely I feel quite amused, they've given us everything?
So to speak they've "protected us," blown up and destroyed,
These things have clothed our bodies-whether or not-it's "free,"
And every day these are our "heroes," our micro-manage "masters,"
The ones who made this world the way it is so they can all succeed.

So I ask you this, did it ever occur to anyone here this is just a game?
That I never asked for any of this, never signed up to keep on playing,
But still we're all a ****** lot to ask for less, we're all insane,
Sorry! I just can't help it, I'm not just the one for living in this craze,
I'd rather have the other world, this one of golden sun and sand,
Of warmth and freedom to explore, rather then work for my old man.

Instant Wedding Vows
Alan S Bailey Aug 2016
A toll rings loud and clear throughout the musty cellar,
Through the halls of the vast dungeon at night.
I wait for one of them to come down and speak
To me about the "others," the valued, the "wise,"
It's the same thing every year, this lonely life.
I hear a creak, must be nothing, I turn on the light,
Swear I saw a ghost, still nothing.
Vaguely, I've been searching for an answer to this riddle,
It will only take a few moments of your time
To sit there between the vagabond with the fiddle,
And the one who must be low as slime.
It's your call-I ask you-for your opinion,
You laugh in my face-if I seek your words-I'm a disgrace,
Riddled with handed down problems, no given grace,
A roaring of thunder, brew of secret ingredients,
From a distance I can still hear you laughing in my face,
Speaking magic spells of strange and creepy "enchantments,"
Even from afar, even from my un-chosen wife's place.

On foot, several soldiers in camouflage with flares ignite
A blaze of bright red sparklers, parting the thick murky haze,
Enough at least so that we could be seen, waiting for a
Helicopter to get to the rocket for my journey Into space.
I climb inside, they load up the cargo bay with supplies
And then 8...7...6...5...came the countdown and when it
Came down to it, I felt like putting my head between
My knees as the combustion sent the rockets from 2nd
Gear into 5th. As the flooding white light of nuclear bombs
Lit the sky I was sent hurtling up at maximum speed,
Beyond that of sound-and then total silence-so I check
The air tanks air and the fluid dispenser for water supply,
Only in minutes did I realize how many were gone, only
In seconds did everything die.

I once had faith in human-kind's goodness,
The idea that people could grow up,
I once thought people were genuine,
But now it's all gone down the drain,
People are just one and the same.
Some men are afraid to be sensitive,
Certain women can't seem to toughen up,
It's all what popular society wants,
For people to become something they're not.

But this has to sound like a cruel song,
No one wants to hear how I feel,
In the end everyone is on their own,
You love defending the master, at his heel.
I will do as I'm told, carry on with a heavy heart,
This way of life will tear us all apart,
I bid you adieu, time to be swallowed whole
By societies ever oppressive ways and greed,
Become what people want, never what they need.

*It's the worlds end, like anyone pretends they are aware,
And in the end it seems that no one was really there,
And in reality, no one even cares.
After all...no one cares! Will delete this POS soon, I've been writing for so many years, and I'm still a newb! I ****! I'm sorry I offended you all with my ****** poetry!

Past Ties
Alan S Bailey Mar 2015
The lakes and streams filled with natures goodness,
Skys eerie and filled with only questions,
The lilting laughs of the young playful women,
And the prompting for springtime suggestions.
I was always laughed at then, ridiculed, a joke.
In the mornings I would bring with me as always
Oats and honey for breakfast. Your beautiful doe
Eyes always batted at me. I was youthful, bearded face,
Strong lean body. My friends had all but abandoned me.
Everyone said we were evil, poisoned fruit from a tree.
The bon fire lit agains all of our faces, sparks flying into the sky.
The woven basket filled with dates, nuts and rice,
My work never finished, speaking of kindness, of life.
They thought I was there to ruin them, to give them over
To the authorities. My dream was to inspire them and give
Them a better understanding of innocent philosophies,
Never once did I mention eternal suffering or grief, let
Alone the way a life without pain. I was there to enliven
Their lives with music, with fine art, wild unruly entertainment,
I never quite respected the forceful authority figures or
The scorn of those who wanted us to "behave,"
But for one reason or another, everyone sought to clean
Up each of my statements.
But you were there, amazon lady, with such strength,
And I your effeminate match, how could it be that I'd found
Such a catch? Our story would go on to be silenced,
Bound with lies, why? Because when they found
Out the truth about us, they sought to change
It to something popular, so they could sell it.

Hello tree people, kings, figs and newts,
We delight inexplicably, mice and toads!
Under loud moons that wreak of pools,
Before greasy footsteps into knights and lions.
And loudly dwindles the extreme crown pig,
The reality hardship of all sun and crowd.
Forgotten mishap rulers that apply inch worms,
And a staff of quails, jesters, and pawns.
Sence to sentances, prison rain druming, squeeks.
Filthy boring evaporating with kangaroo shorts,
Cut half tall.

Just Rue'd
Alan S Bailey Jan 2017
I know I have a one track mind
I can't stop thinking of this broken love,
Wrapped up in the same stupid argument
From day one, maybe you said it means
I'm the dumbest man alive both far and near...

Or maybe it's just pointing toward my fear.

Settle this once and for all,
I get the old mirror out,
Wipe the half-smile off my face,
It was never really there in the first place,
Here I sit, neither man nor dog,
Just a person who can't like this way of life,
Whether for better or for worse,
I'm the poorest "selfish hog,"
Whatever you want me to believe
This is the end for me,
Where the road meets pavement and I
Am forced to continuously be what
Society wants me to be.

The Southern Witch
Alan S Bailey Oct 2015
She hangs upon the ladder, looking out on all of her glorious creations,
This sun that beats down upon her, she cringes at the pain of it,
Stinging sweat slides all along the sides of her face of newborn nation
Grand things she has promised, although she would build a monument
To honour the dead who fought valiantly to protect their land,
Their new found supposed right to enslave.
And also don't forget their brave new world of uneducated
******, all-in-the family goodness, "un-needed" liberation of
Innocent blacks. Those unlawful ne'er do wells! She would fight
To keep them all to herself and her bidding, even to the grave!

*While in truth they have not committed any absolute crimes,
Like their ancestors-nor any reason why they are doing hard time.

Ahh...the smell of "sweet success,"

Dressed up in bundles of bows,
Point out all of your "faults" and drill the teeth, braces on for years,
It'll make the "biggest difference," you'll be what you're "meant to be,"
Shove these roll models in your face, it's all about these prudent fears,
We've gotta follow suit, be moulded, from day to day, months, years,
Follow the path well followed until you're the "best" at this old game,
It'll be such a sorry path if you choose eccentrics-what *you
dream?

**What a shame!

Black people are wonderful!
Some of my best friends are black.
White people are just great too,
They aren't all greedy or "on crack."
So why is it that we can't all feel this way?
Good and bad, right and wrong, and how
We are all a part of this truth all along,
That we all have some part that needs to be fixed,
No humans were made without any faults or wrong,
It's all for the best, we're all wonderful-if the ignorant
Would just get to know them better-it's only a thing
That needs to be addressed, not to hold one ethnic
Color or another to follow a set of rules to the letter.

I'm sorry I have been writing poems that don't agree with society
This is just how I feel, sorry to offend thee. I know I shouldn't
Disobey daddy and mommy, I was a bad BAD doggy.
But you see this is the real me.
I'm not able to be something I'm not.*
And if that's terrible than I guess I should rot (in hell)

Prudence
Alan S Bailey Dec 2014
Everyday lives begin the same, with everyday peoples dreams,
Those who know everyday seasons promise us all our needs,
Unspoken 'til they know them, as natures heart still bleeds.

Before anything we choose, we just made a fatal error,
For anyone here that knows, just had a "Vegas" marriage
And then we find our future filled with wars of terror.

Everyday lives begin with a bang, planting future seeds,
People who hear the rumors spread them before you speak,
Spoken "exactly" as they heard you, as if your words cannot be.

Before anything we choose, we just made a fatal error,
For anyone here that knows, yet another broken marriage
And then we find our future filled with wars of terror.

Her Summer
Alan S Bailey Oct 2015
On this morning the sun rises,
And I leave my new bed.
I get up and go outside and the sun is warm on my head,
Oh the warmth. There are green hills in the distance.
I go to the tree and behold the blueness of the sky
And watch the sun rise as clouds are forming.
All is still and overhead a prairie bird flies.
There is a great field of wheat beyond me.
I lie down and relax staring up into eternity,
And I am already used to this.
I look up smiling and I can really see.
I wind up staying like this for life,
And I’ll never go back,
Back to my way of life before this field of grass I lay on.
It's all a vast encounter with nature.
It teaches me to release my fears and troubles to her.
As the golden sun warms my face, all I see is you.
And as its warmth enters my chest and warms my core,
I feel you in that warmth,
Her summer's beginning.
