Another Piece of Advice
Lyn-Purcell Jul 2017
A tongue needs no bones
Mine is lemon and honey
Prickly by nature

I have what you don't
A balanced filter for two
For sour and sweet

A tongue needs no bones
To cut in and wound someone
So, wield your sword well
Based on an incident that happened today. There is a time and a place to say things but some things should not be said, let alone thought.

Now she studies her new maps
For a new conquest

It will continue to grow

My current course has offered my group new conquests - new opportunities that will span over 2 months!
I'm definitely going to do them! ^-^

Eupheme
Lyn-Purcell Aug 2020

Willow-swift beauty
Flowered fruits have earned her praise
For she is acclaimed

New day, new haiku!
Taking it slow and steady as always.
Three of the Charites, children of Hephaestus and Aglaia [aka Kharis, one of the three Charites] down and after this, one more to go!
This is Eupheme, goddess of praise. And again, there isnt much on her but like her sisters before her, I wanted to give her some character.
I picture Eupheme as someone who is diligent and hardworking at her passions, someone who is worthy of praise because of how much heart she puts into her work. I wanted to make her more human in that regard, you know. This is something we all deserve, praise for our passion.
Please just keep at what you do and be honest and open too.
The best is yet to come, for us all!

Lesson Learned #93
Lyn-Purcell May 2018
You shouldn't feel the need to apologise
for burning so brightly.
When you get your success, don't apologise.
There will ALWAYS be people who will make you feel guilty or expect you to do things for them.
They would want to ride on your coattails and have a piece of the action.
It's cool to do things for them, just don't overdo it.
And most importantly, relish the ride!

Alcyone
Lyn-Purcell Aug 2020

Rest on golden shores
Taste of salt in pleasure's waves
Seagulls soar and cry

Forgot to post this yesterday, I was more exhausted then I thought.
Still following the trend of Pleiades,  the Seven Sisters.
This haiku is for Alcyone (or Halcyone).
There isn't much about her (and I had to ensure I am writing about the right woman as there are many who share this name and of course, many myths of other Halcyones as well, haha!)
With this lovely lady, she is know to be seduced by Poseidon and bore him many children so yes, this haiku is very much a euphemism!
You know me, I just love playing around with the portrayal of myths!
Anyway, thank you all for growing followers, I'm forever humbled and grateful for the support 🙏🌹💜

How...?
Lyn-Purcell Nov 2017
How can I become a star if
I don't attempt to reach for them?

How can I be a champion if
I don't overcome the roars of battle?

How can I claim to be one of the light if
I don't raise from myself from shadow and blood?

How can I love purely if
I still have venom in my heart and eyes and voice?

How can I face death with a smile if
I deny myself the chance to truly live?

My body is marred by the scars of justice.

The air of the Earth has choked me with its
treachery from the minute I was born.

My eyes blinded by the desert dust of life;
lies and trails and heartache.

My blood will water my passion, my legacy,
which I have fought to create...tooth and nail.

I need to make it so.
I always wonder how I can do certain things in my life...the most important thing is to find a way to make it so.

There Are Those
Lyn-Purcell Jun 2018
There are people who can sing

and

There are people who sing

There are people who can rap

and

There are people who rap

There are people who can dance

and

there are people who dance

There are people who can write

and

there are people who write

The difference is that with ones who 'can' are
usually the ones you bob your head
to as well as acknowledge.

But with the ones who just do what they do?
There are the ones who touch your soul.
Everyone is different, of course. I do listen to people who can sing, but I usually listen to the ones who do what they do. They are the ones who have that power to touch your very soul with what they do. Those people who do what they do have an aura of pure light...
Appreciate them.

Unwritten
Lyn-Purcell Jun 2018
I can't cope when my
page stares at me
White, soft and gentle
Empty, dull, lifeless
And the burden to fill it
becomes so heavy
My quill in the inkpot
Pen and pencils, unused
And I feel so flustered
when I am unable to
tell my truth

Words I think wither
Creative juices dry
My mind becomes a
disastrous chorus line
And I feel so trapped,
unable to talk with
my pen

I'm taken back to the
days where my soul
was heavy with pain
That pain was soothed
when I stained my page
with words because now
I had a medium and I
could go forth, confident
and free

When I stare at the canvas
I remember that little girl
who found a way to be
seen and still be unseen
That's the feeling I have,
was born with, that gives
me so much comfort
I can protect myself and
guard myself from how
the world wants girls to
be seen and how I don't
fit the mold

I find I feel more at peace
to be part of that world
that draws it breath
from the words
on my tongue
drawn onto the
canvas by my
right hand

But the words, I find hard
to pour on the page in new
verses. The page that is
empty and free, is
somehow grinning
at my misery
Writer's block *****.
Seriously. I have never been so flustered. I hate it because it reminds me of when I was little. Long in short, I did NOT have a happy childhood. The cause - the man my mother married. The man who was no father to me or my siblings. Long in short, it physically hurts when I can't write. I end up emotionally and mentally strained, and my body aches. Like I feel the years of aching pain pulse through my body.
It may sound dramatic but it's true. This is how I feel.
I can only ever right how I feel, even when I find it hard to really articulate it.

Upon an oak
boat

I float on the sea
like a petal

swilling down
sun-kissed liquor

the gentle waves
rocking the boat

cleaning my
hanging feet

the kind winds
so cooling

The fingers of
light caress me

seemingly flirting
with my skin

The skies dawn
into a shade of blue

bright, clear and true
With closed eyes

I hear the whispers
of the sea's secrets

as my oak and I
wash up on shore

my feet meet the
sand first and then

my buttocks
the water strokes the

stones and the
belly of the oak

crashing back to make
sand angels with

the firewater in hand
I sigh close my

eyes and open my
mind to the magic

that is under the
golden sun
A poem based on a lucid dream I just had.
With so much chaos around, I wish I had the luxury to sail away and forget all my troubles.

Flowers in The Prison
Lyn-Purcell Jul 2017
See all the maidens in pain
Sealed in luxury on the edge of the moon
Fair flowers forced to love their chains
Who feign affections for the Sun King

They're weeping in the shadows
And dream a dream of love
Forever bound and shackled
Only to rise above

To excel, they must all shed blood
Monthly moons and out
Shed a tear for the flowers in the prison

Though beauties spout and bud round them
They smile and sing to the Sun King's chime
Beneath the petals, they covet his rays
How hopeless you are, vagaries of time

Just like the Sun is King, the moon is his queen
In arrogance, he doesn't see the flowers envy
For they needed him to grow and rise above it all
So they tend to their weeds
Knowing if they are caught
They will burn and fall...
Poem I wrote today based on a documentary I watched.

The bookshop is alot bigger than
one would assume. High beige
walls, large rounded windows,
Staircases that lead to the upper
levels but most of all, books -
paperback, hardback, leather-
bound all resting comfortably
in the tall polished bookcases.

~ ⚪♫⚪ ~
All are in order, some alphabetised,
some colour-order.  They can even
see quills, inkpots, canvases, pencils,
letters and stamps all neatly in place.
The shop owner, a curly, black-haired,
strong man in a white shirt, brown
trousers and shoes, standing on a
stool, dusting away the cobwebs.

~ ⚪♫⚪ ~
When he hears the bell ringing, he
turns and spots Esshi and Ainhara
standing there. Smiling, he hops
down and walks to them.
"Welcome to my bookshop, ladies!"
he beams. "My name's Michael.
And your names?"

~ ⚪♫⚪ ~
"I'm Hara," says Ainhara calmly
before gesturing to Esshi and Lyn.
"This is Shia and Nyl."
"Nice to meet you all," he greets

"Is there anything that you're

Naked
Lyn-Purcell Jul 2017
What does it mean to be truly
naked for the one you love?
When you peel away the clothes,
ready to make love to one another?
In the kisses you share?
In the strokes of the flesh?
With butterflies in your stomach?
No.
That's not being naked.
Being naked is when you bare it all
Your pain
Your past
Your scars
Your dreams
Your fears
When you feel your lover trace over
the tales of your sacred body
and feel what you feel
It's only then that you can truly and proudly
say you're naked to your lover
That they are only yours.
And you are only theirs.
I'm an old fashioned soul by nature. This is what I feel it means to be naked.

Monolith of the black voice

All life is sacred
I dare not cage the sweet birds
because of their songs

The cage is a veil
Watch bejewelled hands touch and play
the sleek piano

The bird trills in sync
ivory and ebony
now weep of lost dreams

As we humans laugh
eating sweetmeats from rose-bowls
and drink mead from glass

~  ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ ~

Birds look to the sky
How she yearns to ride the wind
soar and touch the sky

But it is a dream
She is caged by luxury
by rich human glee

None dare lift her veil
She eats and sings, it fools them
But her soul it aches

She knows they see her
Broken in all her beauty
Her mistake not theirs

All life is sacred
I dare not cage the sweet birds
because of their songs

Lyn-Purcell Jun 2018
People come from all walks of life
You can agree or disagree but
never ever breach that
level of respect.
Call me old-fashioned but this is one thing I hate about this day and age. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but yet they attack people FOR HAVING a **** opinion. And I'm like 'really'. Gone are the days where you can have disagreements with people respectfully. At the end of the day, it's their **** opinion. It's not fact. I'm friends with people from all around the world. No matter the religion, sexuality, race or perspective, we still respect each other's opinions. We don't get butthurt over it.
This day and age is spoiled and entitled. I know its not EVERYONE but its the majority of people.
You can talk about anything, just don't be a ***** about it.

Thanks everyone!

Several chandeliers hang and reflect light
of the many mirrors, bring more light
and colour to the room, especially the dome
top; grand and caved with gilded wood
and animals of the wild and skies.
A sturdy rope holds up the greatest
chandelier of tear-shape crystals and
diamonds rare.

✿⊰✲⊱✿
Waltzing under the massive crystal chandelier,
swift and elegant on the sun-patterned
marble floor, is the King himself, smiling
as he twirls around one of the maidens there,
as expected. Paul is known as a playful
spirit, mischievous, kind and an accomplished
dancer. I see the herald, finely dressed
but he did not notice me at first, his eye
is on the bustling life below until I clear
my throat.

He turns and bows, "Forgive me, Queen Lyn-"
"It's alright," I chuckle, "I don't blame you.
This is a magnificent party!"
"I shall announce you at once." He smiles,
turns and cries, "Queen Lyn of Aurelinaea!"
Part 6 of 2! ^-^
Hopefully it's seen now.
Tomorrow, I'll post up part 8!

Blurs
Lyn-Purcell Jun 2018
I didn't bite the apple, but now I see that
there's a dangerously blurred line
between liberation and
thraldom
Really reflective today...
Again a lil off but fine, I hope. (My head hurts badly, though)
But I'm inspired me to do a project! Two projects but one at a time!
Thanks everyone! ^-^
Be back soon!

Then her eyes falls onto the various tiger lilies,
leopard lilies and the Queen Mother's
favourite of them all, calla lilies.
How each of them fill the air with
perfume-sweet songs! Each flower are near
the manmade pools, and bird baths and
the large stone fountains.
Florists are talking and laughing
as they made several flower arrangements,
each featuring the calla in it's classy glory.

~ ⚪♫⚪ ~
"Lady Ainhara?" she hears the guard snap
her from her thoughts.
"Ah, sorry." Ainhara follows him towards
the Moon-Lily Gate, the circular opening
that Queen Lyn has ordered be created
during her visits to East. The door is
made of iron-bars that are sculpted,
taking the shape of the proud peacock;
another favourite of the Queen Mother,
which the guards open.

~ ⚪♫⚪ ~
"Hold on." Ainhara quickly skips over the stone
paths to one of the florists. "Make a flower
arrangement for the Queen herself. Use all
of her favourites. And...if you can, use lavender.
When you're done, hand it to Esshi... give her
a quill, inkpot and paper. She'll know what to do.
She's currently in the Kitchens."
"Right away, Lady Ainhara," the florist nods.

~ ⚪♫⚪ ~
'Hopefully this will make our Mistress smile...'
With a smile, Ainhara runs back to the Guard
and exits through the Moon-Lily Gate and
out of the gardens until she comes to the
side entrance of Aurelinaea's grand palace.
'And just in time too!'
Riding into the Royal Courtyard are
many merchants with wagons and
wagons of crates and trunks;
silver Aurelinaean guards riding white
mares beside them.
SURPRISE! ^^
Part 3!
Part 4 will be out on the morrow! ;P

Would You...
Lyn-Purcell Nov 2017
See me?
Truly see me?
Past my eyes that feign innocence
and past my smile that feign happiness?
Would you see me?
That I decaying in my body.
In my prime, my youth?
See how fear eats away at me.
See how depression has chained me.
See how my white mask falls and
and bare witness to the fact
That I was never okay.
Its okay not to be okay.
But sometimes you wish for people to see past your smiles and be able to read you well...

Blessings in winter
Rain of spring leaves
Drift home once more
Hearth captures all hearts
with love as a cloak
And we bond
forevermore
This one is an old poem I just found reading my old journal from 2012-13.
Man, time seriously flies! And the trip down memory lane is great!
It really shows how much I've evolved with my pen!
And I sure as hell will keep on inkin'! ^.^
Thanks so much everyone! You're all amazing!
Be back soon!

The few should never represent
the many.
~

No one, not even a celebrity, should speak for you or represent you.
Do that yourself. I'm speaking to every single race out there.
Because as soon as a celebrity says something you dislike or disagree with,
YOU are the ones who get all up in your feelings. Their mistakes should never represent a community as a whole. This is one of the many reasons why I stopped putting celebrities on pedestals.
Man, I'm so glad I now have downtime! ^^
Thank you guys so much for your patience!
Working on the Masked Bard series now!

Being human, we all
have that ability to hurt,
harm and ****
Life and death are powers
in all our tongues
and you don't seem to
get that what you say
has weight
Once you think your
words, know what
to day and don't
You never know what
demons each person
faces
Yes, they may smile
but your cruel words
adds to their pain
adds to them corroding
on the inside
They may be dancing
near the edge with
death talking in
their ear and you
may be the give
them that final push
They will take death
by the hand with
their faith in human
kindness crushed
People want to live
but many just survive
Don't make anyone
feel numb or more
dead inside
I'm feeling really reflective this morning.
People don't seem to get that words have weight and can destroy a life.
Be careful what you say and who you say it to.
Depression, anxiety, loneliness, suicidal
These feelings are no joke.
I felt like I had to write this.
I'm not an angel, I'm a sinner like everyone else. I have said things I should not have said. I have done things I should not have done. I'm no better than anyone else. But I've learned. Who I was at 13 or 18 is not the same person I am at 23. As I age physically, I age mentally.
Please to anyone who feels low, know you are loved. Please get help. People will strike you down but never let it destroy you.
Never ever underestimate the power of human kindness.
Be back soon.
