rules I have to abide to,

sick of all the things
I need to do,
and all the times
I must silence
myself away,

sick of going
through the hardships
just to enjoy the
good times for
a little while,

sick of proving
to others
my success, my self-love,
my worth,

sick of stressing
about life before it happens,
and forgetting to just live.

don't let
the ship sink,

and if
it happens,

don't
leave me
behind,

drown me
in your love.

please don't
doubt how
much love
for you
resides in
this heart

that lies
in the palms

wanting you,
or needing you,

leaves me in a
constant state
of confusion,

and focusing
on what I know
will not help me
reach a decision,

iridescent sapphire

Growing up
means realizing
that sometimes
you hurt others
unintentionally
in an attempt
to save yourself
from that first

anger should shoot out
but instead kindness drips
from my eyes onto
the palms of your hands

and so I caress the pain instead
as I push it to the corner
with the rest of emotions
that have gone unattended to.

Look at you, discovering yourself for what feels like the first time. There you were, sitting in the backyard with a book you never had the chance to read, learning the hard way that you should apply sunscreen more evenly next time. Look at you, greeting your lover and welcoming new feelings everyday with open arms. Look at you, experimenting with colours other than the three shades of black you've always known and being brave enough to wear pink on your toes. Look at you, turning a bad memory into a much better one, you deserve that crown, queen. Look at you, taking matters into control

I have come to realize that the hardest thing
to do is not picking out an option from two that
are very similar in nature, but rather putting myself first.

how can you love someone
and trust in them,
when you only carry love
for anyone but for yourself,
because you don't trust
in you,
and you can't love you.

I gave something to you
that belonged to me,
but most importantly
I gave something to you
that I should have wanted for me.

I hope that when you make a list of all of your favourite things, I’m somewhere on the top of your list.

to love, to learn, to fall, to grow,

and a sunrise to brighten your skies,

here’s someone who can hold onto all the feelings on your shoulders,
here’s an ocean for your thoughts to rest in,
here’s a breeze to remind you of the thick skin you have on which those goosebumps have formed,
here’s a nest of butterflies in your tummy for a change of scenery of all the imperfections you store inside of you,
here’s a shooting star to distract you from the darkness of the world and for you to look up to,

there is something
about the world ending
that makes us appreciate
the things we hog on year after year,
the people who we don't pay as much attention to,
the meaning behind every gesture,
the sunshine even at sunset,
the ability to feel the day in its full 24-hours,

he said that this doesn't change anything,
that he doesn't love me any less,

except there was a change,
this time around I broke my own heart,
and for that I loved myself less.

there she is,
laying in her bed,
wide awake
when it’s 4 am,
waiting for her lover's call

she is the sunrise shining from the west,
and he is the sunset that lovers adore,
darkness was her enemy that resided in his mind,
and arrogance never allowed her to stay down,
sometimes,
they cant handle the hours
that keep them apart,
so their colors dim
and tears fall out of the sky

the question is do you miss me
when we are fighting about
something you did
and something i said
because if the answer is no,
do you even truly love me?

i did not leave
because i thought you
would eventually ask me to stay,

yet i spent the night
and you still had not asked

in the moment,
we endure the pain,
we accept the challenge,
we live to survive,

but somewhere down the line,
we have to heal
we try to forget
we learn our lessons.

It's funny when 4 walls start to feel like 6

comfort
is such a foreign zone
that I long for,

a land that I can't seem to
be able to spot
on any map,

people tell me
its borders are indefinite,

and i tell them,
please take me
to the mother
I have never known.

the feeling of
uncertainty
creeping up
my spine
makes my
head twirl
in an attempt
to keep all
my thoughts
in place.

you make me feel beautiful
in three ways;

one - by calling me beautiful,
two - by looking at me with such
loving eyes,
and most importantly,
three - by being with you

thank you for
looking at me
with such kindness
in your eyes,
love in your veins
and warmth in
the wrinkles
surrounding
your eyelashes.

is meant to give you
one more chance
to cease the moment
and enjoy every breath
before the cycle ends,

the 31st of every month,
is a time to finish your to do-list,
even to start writing one
and to prepare before the
calendar folds its pages again,

the 31st of every month,
is a reminder that you
don't have to stop counting
at 10, 20, or 30,

the 31st of every month,
is a good citizen,
because it gives
more than it takes,

just ask February where its
30th has gone,
and it will tell you
how it retired and
took off with
the 31st.

all we need
is some sparks
and devotion
in our eyes,
and a little
bit of love
floating in a
pool of trust.

whenever this feeling
of uneasiness visits my skin,
i convince the goosebumps
that im just overthinking,
that im not in danger,
that they only show
because warmth is
a foreigner wandering
the premise of my heart,
but when I consult
my heart,
it tells me that this
warmth brings
back memories
of when it
was stone cold,
a feeling that is
now unbearable
to even imagine.

I forgot
how much
