Nature's Serenade
Lyn-Purcell Oct 2020

Hear the hush of the wind dance above
Through lush lands of green eagerly spread
Birds soar and swoop, butterflies kiss foxgloves
Laughter rings wherever humans tread

◦•●◉✿ ⚜❃⚜ ✿◉●•◦

Through lush lands of green eagerly spread
As glass blades sway soft and sweet
Laughter rings wherever humans tread
On nature's palm, they openly meet

◦•●◉✿ ⚜❃⚜ ✿◉●•◦

As glass blades sway soft and sweet
Birdsong heard near and far
On nature's palm, they openly meet
A simple serenade to forget life's scars

The day's a grey one but even so, I wanna think of something sunny and happy. While looking for courses to try, I found a new form of poetry to experiment with - pantoum. Pantoum poems are described as 'a poem of any length, composed of four-line stanzas in which the second and fourth lines of each stanza serve as the first and third lines of the next stanza. The last line of a pantoum is often the same as the first.' [Credit goes to this site: https://poets.org/glossary/pantoum]

First time doing this poem, and I think it turned out really well.
I just pictured myself at a park and focused on my senses.
I think I may do more of these, I'm really happy with the end result! ^-^
Thanks everyone, wishing you a good day/afternoon/evening/night!

Stay safe and well!
Be back soon!
Much love!

Watch as she holds her gold needle
in the half-light
attaching a soul to the blossom's shell
and ensure that their dreams
and their lives don't fade
So their tongues and music
will last forever

Watch as she pulls her golden thread
The petals curl, revealing the beauty of
flush-kissed shoulders within
Sweetened with the fragrance of love
and care
Painted with colours that give our
senses love and rest

Watch as she pokes at the roses
and their thorns sprout
A rose extends their blades
to shield their beauty

Watch as she cuts her gold thread
and it whips around in the wind
As the earth erupts in joyous laughter
far and wide,
flowers adorns all that it touches
From the babbling brooks to fields,
From our parks to the mountain tops

How the Golden Thread can be sewn
and sprout the soul of music,
fragrance and purity.
Wow. This poem I remember writing when I was younger. Most of turbines were scratched out again but I managed to get the words anyway.
This poem I remember was when I was in a seeing class and I was actually seated near a window that had flowers for what looked like miles.

Lyn-Purcell Jul 2018
Silver lights shimmer
Tranquil peace from the moon
Its touch makes all rest

The moon stares at me
Deep into my very soul,
that's broken and bruised

She sees me naked
My true self that's so afraid
to keep moving on

But she calms me down
She shows me my inner light
The light I must spread
On the window sill currently, emotionally drained but still here none the less.
Today was so emotionally draining...
There's something so comforting about the moonlight, I feel like it seems who I really am inside.
Anyway, thank you everyone for your kind comments and support.

Clytemnestra
Lyn-Purcell Aug 2020

Blood of babes were spilt
Wrath has claimed her scorching heart
Cogs of vengeance turns

New day, new haiku!
This one is for Queen Clytemnestra, mother of Iphigenia [link to her poem: https://hellopoetry.com/poem/3921056/iphigenia/]
Now let me not lie, at first when I first read about her I didnt like her but after I did more research, I couldnt help but feel bad for her as she wasnt one dimensional. I found that in one variant before she was Agamemnon's wife, she was married to King Tantalus of Pisa and has a son whom Agamemnon slew before her eyes before taking her to bride.

Bear in mind Agamemnon was known to be a skilled warrior but arrogant and selfish as a ruler. He angered Artemis by boasting he was a superior hunter and killed one of her sacred stags. Artemis made the winds weak so he could not participate in the Trojan War. And so he lured his daughter Iphigenia and her mother under the pretense of marriage to Achilles...only for her mother to watch another child die before her eyes.

I cant imagine what Clytemnestra was subjected to being married to Agamemnon but to see two children die before her eyes...I can see her already having resentment towards her Warrior husband and with the death of her daughter, she snapped and wanted vengeance. I'm sure the cogs were turning in her head as she had an affair with his cousin,
Aegisthus. Depending on the myth variant, she was either seduced by him or chose to enter into it. Both were planning the death of Agamemnon. I believe Aegisthus's own father was betrayed by Agamemnon's. (Hence the cogs of vengeance turning).

And when her husband returned from Troy, he was slain, he and his lover, Cassandra. Some myths say she slew him, some myths said the angry loves did the deed together.
But it's hard not to feel some sympathy for her.
Vengeance is a never ending cycle that can cause great harm in the long run. That's one thing I've learned from her myth.
That, and hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned...

Anyway, thank you all for growing followers, I'm forever humbled and grateful for the support🙏🌹💜

STAY   HOPEFUL
The days seem to be blurring more and more.
With all that's happened in 2020, it didn't really feel like a new year and in a way, it still doesn't for me. So much has really dawned on me and Ive spent so much time brooding and just lost in my own head.
Even so, I just wanted to keep hope alive for this year.
So many lives have been lost in 2020.
I pray for all of my fellow poets.
May you and your loved ones be in great health and happiness and if you have lost someone you love, to the virus or not, I pray they rest in peace.
I'm cautiously optimistic so officially [though it's a day late], I wish you all a happy new year.
Keep hope alive in your hearts.
We shall get through this storm together for we are one.
Stay safe out there everyone.
Leave a candle in the comments to show your hope for this year.

Hear the seagull's cry

Wisps of clouds drift by
The cat's fur strokes my bare legs

His green eyes shine so content
And he sits by me

I hear all the cries
Startled, he runs away scared
Mum says, "England lost."
Everything was so calm...until I heard people screaming, not just from my neighbourhood but the people at the pub also!
I go into my house and I'm hit with the news
Croatia 2 - England 1.

~ ☾☀️☽ ~
Your fate was woven in the silence of time.
Embroidered with dread and pain.
Made bearable with bonds of friendship and love.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

Disrobed in the darkness, the sky freckled
with the light of stars, shivering.
Never will we forget the undying.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

For fate is something twined in a misty veil.
Ignore the flute that sighs a sweet melody.
For you, Noctis, will be bound to your threnody.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

Born with the Storm's Blessing,
in all it's strength and might and glory,
all that will be left for you is a ruin
of crying waters, deathless flames, and
flooding song of the Oracle's lyre.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

Her hair of spun gold; a primose in white,
and pearls around her slender wrists.
In her hand, a sylleblossom, bent low
in your final kiss.
Your final promise.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

She stands strong, her trident in hand,
knowing that she is a phantom of
transient life.
She looks at you.
In a field of flowered ice.
Standing as days of harsh sun and rain pass by.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

It haunts you.
The memories of where you dare not
tread.
Yet.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

Give yourself into the song of the sweet summer bird.
Give yourself to the Oracle - the Morn's Star who
fears no sun in her wake. For she was born
to die in the light.
As are you.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

No need to be afraid, Noctis.
Your corona is a crown that befits no other.
For all shall witness it's splendour and glory
as the Chosen King.
The days are waning.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

The nights are burning.
Alive with daemons and weeping plagues.
The Sun and Moon reap pain sown
from so long ago.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

It's alright.
Because you will be beyond our world.
Where you will no longer be weary.
Where you will no long be pitied.
Where you will finally be free.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

Where Love is sweet and Sleep is kind.
To you both.
The Storm was always yours.
It blessed you for good reason.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

Where the moon is full and the sun is high,
Where the mountains stand so strong in vain,
Where the meadows chant and greet the light,
Where the roses bloom and sylleblossoms cry dew,
Where the wind carry joy and not whirls of sad.
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

There you are,
The King of Kings,
Noctis Lucis Caelum,
and his consort,
Lady Lunafreya,
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

I see you there.
Swaying and drifting off to the sound
of sweet chimes.
Under the Sky of the Light's Night...
~ ☾☀️☽ ~

Atalanta
Lyn-Purcell Aug 2020

Swift-footed huntress
Life and death hangs on footrace
Love fierce like lions

New day, new haiku!
This one is for Atalanta, a courageous and fierce huntress (not be be confused with Atalanta, the Argonaut). Small wonder that she has been compared to Artemis, theyre similar indeed.
In fact, she swore an oath to Artemis, keeping to the two thing the goddess herself treasures other than hunting - her virginity.

She was more of a tomboy, other than hunting, she loved wrestling, riding horses and such. She gained a reputation for being so skilled and better than her male counterparts.

Theres so much story around this extraordinary woman of myth. Her father left her for death from the moment she was born and she was raised by a she bear, and eventually raised by hunters. She played a role in the hunt for the Calydonian boar was gifted the boars head and hide by Meleager, a fellow hunter and slayer of the beast who happened to be in love with her and was tragically killed by his mother. The reason being because he killed his uncles who were jealous that such a prize was given to her and not them.

Even from birth, this woman was badass.
Now for the main and popular myth!
Not only was Atalanta a skilled huntress, she was beautiful, grabbing the attention of men (who were intrigued and some probably wanted to put her in her proverbial place, so to speak).

So she said that she will offer her hand to the man who could outrun her in a race, but the losers will lose their life by her hand.

One man caught her eye, Hippomenes (aka Milanion or Melanion). He knew well enough to know he couldnt beat her in a race so he turned to Aphrodite to help. The Goddess of Love was outraged by Atalantas lack of interest in love, so she granted him three golden apples of the Hesperides before the race commenced.

As expected, Atalanta was beating him and he would drop a golden apple to make her stop and admire it. Some myths say she deliberately did so to give him a chance to win, haha! And win he did!

She did swear off marriage (oath to Artemis) but happily married him and gave birth to their son, Parthenopaeus.

But their marriage was shortlived and they were turned into lions...
The reason being because they were so consumed by their passion, that they actually made love in one of Zeus' sacred temples. Another myth states that her husband didnt honor his dues to Aphrodite and so she cursed them to make love in the temple.

Honestly, this is one of my favourite myths. I find her so inspiring as a character (and the fact that they apparently made love in one of Zeus' temples makes me laugh hard! The irony! The last line of the haiku is a reference to their...excited *******, haha! 😂😂😂)

Men didnt like that she was so strong and skilled as a huntress yet she stuck to her guns and proved herself, though she didnt really have to. Thats something we can all learn from as a whole to be honest. Even her name is rooted from 'atalantos' which means, "equal in weight"- a testament to her achievements and victories with men.

Man or woman, we are all true equals. None exceeds another. We all have our strengths and weakness in life but if we stay true to our resolve to be the best we can be, we'll be much better for it! ^^

Father's Day
Lyn-Purcell Jun 2018
He may have fathered
me but he was never a father.
He saw crumbs with his wife
and children.

He may have fathered
me but he was never a father.
For the home was not full of love,
he choose to raise and nurture
fear.

He may have fathered
me but he was never a father.
He saw wealth in chasing the
thrill of the illicit than soothing
the pain he caused with us in the
picture.

He may have fathered
me but he was never a father.
Who now recalls that he's getting
old. You think you're a man.
You were never a man.
You were and always
will be an immature
boy.

He may have fathered
me but he was never a father.
If anyone was my Father,
it was definitely my mother.
She did all she can to shield me.
She practically raised me.
With her, I didn't have any
memory re-written.

He may have fathered
me but he was never a father.
My mother played at both roles
But of course, she's strong because
she had her father and the
Holy Father.
They all are still here.
They will guide me.
He added another year
so I know He loves me.
I'll make my mistakes.
I may walk the wrong path
But with them at my side,
I'll always find my way back.

Truth of the matter is
Any man can be a father, but it takes a
REAL man
to step up and be
a Dad.
This poem says all about how I feel about this particular day.
To all those good men, all those awesome fathers,
I wish you all a happy Father's day! ^-^

Come cries of new life
Signals the war of birthing
Hands held at your side

New day, new haiku!
This one is fot Eileithyia, Goddess of Childbirth.
Personally, I dont have any kids but I have been told many stories of how hard it is to go through, contractions and all. On top of that, I have read many tragic stories where the child lives but the mother does not.
Metaphorically speaking, it sometimes can be a difficult war to truly win as for some it can be bittersweet.
I wish all mothers, new and experience joy and happiness!

New day, new haiku!
Hard to be believe that this is my 940th poem, haha!
Anywho, keeping with the Pleiades aka the Seven Sisters, this one is for Celaeno. She is also known to be a wife of Posideon and bore him children, Lycus and Eurypylus, and ruled over the Isle of the Fortunate, a
isle reserved only for those were supposedly reincarnated three times. They were deemed pure enough to be accepted into Elysian.

Burdens and Blessings
Lyn-Purcell Jan 2018
This poem marks my wishes that
I want in this New Year.
2017 is now a closed chapter,
and I hope to leave all the misfortune behind.
So I pray

That this year, I will be blessed with happiness
and stability for everyone; my three families.
My friends, my blood, and HelloPoetry...

This year, I will be able to hone my craft
and have to confidence to go
after my dreams.

And finally,
I pray that my mother remains in good health.
Let me not worry about her all the time.

2017 has been a year of heavy burdens.
Where I felt like I couldn't handle anything.
I know there is no end to our burdens, so
I ask for you to broaden my shoulders
So I can bear the burdens
and grasp my blessings.
2017 was messed up. I swear alot of things happened where I felt so overwhelmed that there were times where I cried so hard and I wanted to fade away.
I hope that 2018 will be a better year, for me and for everyone else.
Happy New Year, HelloPoetry!

"Oh yes! They're of the finest quality."
"Well, I would love to get that one!"
She points to a small A5 notebook
with watercolour swirls.
"Good taste!" Bree claps as Michael
pulls a stool, stands on it and pulls
the book from the bookshelf, handing
to Lyn who stares at it. She strokes
the book and opens it to stroke to
fine paper.
"Beautiful!"

~ ⚪♫⚪ ~
"That ring," Michael stares at it and
Lyn tenses, as did Ainhara and Esshi.
'How we forget about the ring!'
Esshi mentally facepalms. It is of
white-gold, the white lily of Aurelinaea
with the monogram of the Royal family.

~ ⚪♫⚪ ~
Lyn was granted it when she was
coronated, and always left it on, so
much so that it was like second
nature.

Clotho
Lyn-Purcell Oct 2020

One of Fate's traids
Threads spun long with great twine sides
From birth to the hearse

New day, new haiku!
I'm covering the the Moirai aka the Fates now! They were known to be the daughters of Zeus and Themis predominantly, but I have heard their parentage vary: from Chaos to Nyx to even Gaia. One of the best parts about myths is that it's so malleable. They were in charge of the fates of mortals, from who were born to who died and each have their own unique tasks as well. Clotho was the spinner - she spun the threads of life and death to which this haiku talks about. Imagine how that sort of power of life and death in your very hands. It's truly something that is quite amazing to think about as well as terrifying.

Anyway, thank you all for growing followers, I'm forever humbled and grateful for the support 🙏🌹💜

Get Well Soon
Lyn-Purcell Jun 2018

You will never be a dying flower.
No swarms of sick thorns will
plague you.

He will lay his hands over
you and all that ails you will
be still waters.

All sickness will wash away and
you will rise afresh, born anew.
To sing, dance, write and ride
to the winds of life with
joy.

Kim, take all the time you need because nothing is
more important than your health.
You're a strong person. I believe in you.
I pray for you to have a quick recovery.
Much love, hope and blessings

Beauty of Ballet
Lyn-Purcell Sep 2017
There is a beauty that comes from seeing
a flower dancing in the wind with the
leaves that follow.
It's no different with ballet.
For the art comes from the music within a soul
and the mortal coil brings it to light with
enchanting dances.
For I see myself in a the blank canvas of a theatre
and the Swan Queen graces the canvas as the brush,
with raw love expressed not from her body but her heart.
As she spreads her wings, I can hear the words behind her moves,
the flame that twirls with kaleidoscope wonders.
"I am here," the voice says. "Don't you see? I am here! I am free!
I am freedom!"
And as the Swan dies, broken but content, the crowd erupts
like thunder in the Heavens.
"For you see now," the voice echoes as I claps. "You see now.
The secret language within a soul that passion can only bring out."
A poem from my journal. I happened to be watching Black Swan which is one of my all-time favourite films. Ballet never fails to take my breath away, the beauty overwhelms me.

A Katana's Beauty
Lyn-Purcell Nov 2017
Imagine seeing a silvery blade dancing to the music of death.
Marred by the poetry of blood
A trumpet to the cries of war
But it also reflects the wielder.
When looking at it, you can see yourself.
But in my eyes, I can see the steel's heart.
As it's in your hand, preparing to protect, it's polished until it shines like luna wildfire.
In the end, I believe the true beauty of a katana comes not from the hilt or engravings, but from the steel.
How many songs has it sang in our battles, can you imagine...?
A katana's beauty comes from the polished steel as it's shines so brightly
with victorious prayers.
This poem is dedicated to several katana that I saw in a museum near me.
(I'm a nerd for these things and I'm not shamed)

A Bud No Longer
Lyn-Purcell Jul 2018
In the shade of green
Past orchids and blossoms
are roses in bloom

Duties getting hard
But I know I will succeed
My mind remains calm

Studies nearly done
I have learned and overcome
No longer a bud

A bright horizon
Though feeling stressed, I'm smiling
My Kingdom will grow

In the shade of green
Hushing winds bring me birdsongs
As I pick the rose

My diadem glitters
New knowledge now grows in mind
A bud no longer
Influenced by Edmund's poem, 'just like a rose.'
Editing is stresssssssss! But we are nearly done! So excited!
Then the Queen can come back and her Kingdom will thrive!
Be back soon!

I will tend to
I will ensure
that I only dance to
the tune of a very
sound mind

Mental and emotional health is just as important as physical health.
So do take time to take care of it, something I needed to do.
Take a break, let your emotions out and stand up again.
I feel so much better for it, too!
Thank you so so much for 220 followers!
That's crazy! I never thought my page would grow!
Thank you so much, I'm grateful! ^^

Scarborough Fair
Lyn-Purcell Nov 2017
Resting redly in an ocean of shadows
is Scarborough Fair.
With sweet and cardinal scent of the roses clinging to the air.
A woman of cherries, potential untapped.
With a harsh fate upon her as well as a pact.
A child born to parents star-crossed.
A love that was denied and a high cost.
I see her there
Fair-skinned, dark-haired.
Lips of rosed sin
And slinks the world prepared.

And with this woman walks the four,
Weapons of mass destruction that
the Devil would **** for.
The sass of Parsley
The wisdom of Sage
The touch of Rosemary
The passage of Thyme
A rewrite of my poem 'Umbra Witch' dedicated to Bayonetta 1.

I LOVE Turkish Delight, oh my gosh!
Mainly because of one of my favourite books, The Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! Classic!
It's because of both the book and film that I first tried it!

"She is. I think I make it worse with my constant
teasing." I chuckle. "But yes, I'm sure Paul's
'appreciation' for her is overwhelming.
He showers her too much with compliments."
We are lost in conversation until we heard Paul clapping,
gaining everyone's attention.
"Now that everyone has made their wishes, it's time
for us to present Donna and Dean with their
final gifts," he smiles. "Donna, Dean, would you be so
kind as to follow me up the hill? There's something
we all have to show you!"

✿⊰✲⊱✿
"Final gifts?" Dean is confused. "This party is enough,
as were all the shipments. What else do you have to give
us?"
Paul only chuckles and says nothing, beckoning them to
come to him. When Donna looks at everyone's faces,
she sees a sea of smiles, all knowing, all kind.
"Everyone, what's going on?" Donna asks.
"You'll find out soon enough!" Sue winks as Dean
takes Donna's hand and everyone walks down a pathway
that leads up to a high hill, where we can all see the horizon.

✿⊰✲⊱✿
Many of our distant kingdoms and the very calm seas.
One of the Luciuscemian guards holds a large green paper
lantern with the gold sun on Luciuscemi on it before
releasing it into the air.
"Paul, what's going on?" Dean asks his friend as
the paper lantern float high.
Donna gasps when she sees more small green
Luciuscemian lantern fly, and when her eyes look
to the horizon, the night skies come alive.
An abundance of paper lanterns are released into
the air, each of many colours.
