Don't look a gift horse in the mouth,
No man ought to look up
But down on which he is given.

Heywood, ever hear of the Trojans?
Or is that thye pun
On the stupidity of the common person?

But, then nobility repeats it?

Hey, look at me!
I know my history!
I'm so educated that I know better!

That a coward correctly surmised
That a cat may look on a king
Is certainly no surprise.

The more haste, the less speed;
Rush-in over your head,
And regret you did not faster think.

Wedding is destiny,
And hanging likewise.
To be married to such ideals,
I would rather swing.

For when I gave you an inch,
You took an ell.
I gave you a slighting
And you reached for arms.

Now, you tell me;
Did I say these things?

One man's interpretation
Is another man's insulting.
The more haste, the less speed.

Haste speaking more
To the mental state of the individual
Leading to rushed or hectic actions,
Whereas speed speaks of velocity
And the duration of the time taken
To complete or finish any one task fast,
At greater than the average

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Self-referential, in that
It is never the recipient saying it.
Be grateful for what you are given,
But do not look too closely at it
Lest something jump out at you.
A reference to the Trojans & the Greeks.

A cat may look on a king

People who are self-serving animals
Still have a place to sit,
So long as they bend the knee.
So long as they are good pets
And don't bite at the hand which feeds.
No barking!

Wedding is destiny,
And hanging likewise.

Often, our marriages to life
Are arranged
By those around us
And by such things as fate & chance.
For every gallow the crowns build,
There is a hangman.

For when I gave you an inch,
You took an ell.

Very little is given out
Compared to how much is taken.
It is an insult
Warranting attention and reflection.
If it is not rectified, acquire arms;
For an insurrection is required.

In each,
The default option among most
Is one where there is a sacrifice made.
A contrasting element or trade
Inherent in the concept
By such statements conveyed,
And likewise because of it
The statement itself.
and i fear when seasons

its rooted far from rational explanation
reason removed, because i know
change is good
and those things that come with it

Behind The Fraizes
If evidence is incrimination,
Then fleeting art is an exoneration.
Like pictures drawn in the sand,
Like lightning turning sand to glass;
As though a constellation were made from a man,
As though a mule became a golden ***.
Love is always so fickle,
Itself only as strong as our commitments.

Oftentimes, we seek a level
Which is non-commiserate
To that which we offer.

We often feel ourselves
To be what's most important.
Pushing & pushing.

Until that day
In which the push is away.
Distance becomes
Only that which we are close with.
But commitment must be mutually respected
i am full of red flags
the difference between you and i
is i look at you
and see them too
but i can still look beyond them
i am a butterfly
dreaming as a man
i am war's passion
crimson like blood let
and the dove
labored by his own beak;
the last breathed breath

when its later in the day
do our definitions matter,
or how we saw things?
when what we did
is what has been done
and at last
we've run our run
does it matter
who we were
or of us, that had become?

all is forgiven
in the setting sun

I'm talking to you;
Is it because I have to
Or because I want to?
I'm talking to you;
Is it to understand you
Or so I am understood?
I'm talking to you;
Is it that I like you
Or that I don't?
I'm taking to you;
Is it to hear myself
Or to be heard?
Is it solely from the verb
Or by the noun?
In this rhetoric,
Is it mine or ours or yours?
In this dialogue,
Is it gossip, chitchat, or conversation?
By the course of it
Is it chance, choice, or demand?
I'm talking to you

Spitting up blood;
Living, dying,
What's its worth?
I feel as the Emerald Ash Borer,
Hated by those around me
And stamped upon
Until I am eradicated
Whilst those same people
Attempt to find some use from me
Before I am killed.
These are not loving societies,
Reflected in our treatment of others;
It was very nice to have known all of you.

A Pallbearer For Athena
I know I am unworthy & undeserving,
Beneath you, love;
And yet, with shame,
I feel the same as I have always
This heart - of yours.
It is kindred, and full of lust.
Hopelessly infatuated,
Though I know we were all wrong.
I can't help it,
And I assure you it isn't obsession
For I have known that,
This is not it.

Just painfully unrequited,
For all my faults.
Be unrealistic, congratulations!
You are privileged.
And think me wrong,
I am only a realist.
If you don't like the observational
It's because you fail to see
Things as they really are
And rather, how you'd like them to be.

A Toga & Tablet
I walk alone
Purposefully,
I rest afar
From home.

These aching bones,
Debride me of such woes
And deliver restitution
Of with what I was born.

Painless, happiness,
Life without sorrow
Free from fortune.

To live as I was young
But with the benefits of growing old.

Bless me with that gift of insight
And provide me with good experience,
That I might grow & blossom.

Into the butterfly & not the buzzard,
Into the dove & not the eagle.

From the deserts & the mountains,
From mediterranean to peninsula.

Let me walk away
From the affairs of the needy,
Who have their fill
And are even fat because of it.

Let me walk away
From the affairs of the greedy,
Who can't stomach more
But make room by vomiting.

Let me walk away
From the affairs of the seedy,
Who have good families
But can't keep to themselves.

Let me walk away
From the affairs of the piety,
Who possess nice quarter
But must room in others'.

Let me walk away
From the affairs of the ******,
Who know what is wrong
But still freely engage in it.

I walk alone
Afar from home,
I rest purposefully.

Painless, happiness,
Life without sorrow
Free from fortune.

For the sake of wisdom, virtuously.
For the sake of virtue, wisdomously.

Modest & humble.

It's a quick battle,
One waged against your own interest;
It's a sad case,
To watch men spit in their own face.
It's family, God, & country
And no room for the self.
Don't you care about your race?
How will you protect it?
What about your religion?
Enshrine it, defend it, spread it?

Bolster, boast, expansion?

Experience was without form,
And so I shaped instinct.
Between them was love,
And so they gave birth to intelligence-
But intelligence grew alone,
So they adopted wisdom.
And wisdom loved intelligence,
And honored their parents,
So they created a family.
There were all the emotions,
And all together they built a home.
There was the body,
Something physical to provide shelter.
We called the land Elysium,
And we were the Ethos.

I recall the faux weddings
That youth had adorn.
We were something like five or six,
Playing in her attic.
They had setup
A whole play marriage altar
Out on the back lawn.
My "bride-to-be"
Was dressed in her attire properly,
White veil & everything.
We had often played at house,
But never at matrimony.
It was always explicitly implied,
In such games,
That we were already married.
I did, she did -
You may kiss;
Sweet pronouncement!
Just as with half of all marriages,
We eventually grew apart.

Maybe it was the economy,
Maybe it was our goals;
Maybe it was because we were children,
Maybe because it was just for fun.

I still remember picking for eggs
At her home on Easter.

On an isle of nymphs
And found myself
Only when I rejected,

Blinded by decadence,
Focused on filling coffers;
I broke for the ship
Calling to my officers.

Drunk and high, doing as you're told.

I see her in smiles of the living room fens,
When sunlight hits wet on the mire.
Between the waves that lick the bights,
On the steeps of the fjords as sound.
In the vibrations of breezes on stamens,
Like a gentle resonance of pollen on pistils.
In the currents of a universe as a celestial,
Through these fluctuations as mysteries.
Deep out like some starry cosmos,
Far out like some alien culture.
On proverbial outskirts as hypothetical fringes,
As like waterfalls after rains have swelled.
By the puddles stirred together as unison,
In the droplets as ink splatters join paper.
Moon sets as like blues jazz records end,
On mornings mist full as classical pieces.
Like indescribable ideas as beautiful emotions,
When pebbles fall as sand by the ocean.
As worlds collide like harp concertos,
Through chords of movement as cell division.
For like den to hare as ribs to hearts,
Like mind to matter as sight for hawk.

How I long to sing with you
Into eternity & for perpetuity.

The harsh things that stand
As obstacles for our race

A Voluntary Silence
Violence is never the answer,
But the implication of that quote
Is that violence is an answer
Even if it isn't ever optimal.

As someone once deaf,
And because of it once mute,
Such a quiet but thoughtful demeanor
Usually stirs one from their bitter attitude.

The slumber of anger,
Like that of sadness;
The tiredness is a dear friend,
The emptiness of them.

In that absence of contentment
Missing too is common sense.
The confusion of all emotions,
Their transient nature and overlap.

The first thoughts in the morning,
Filled with tension and anxious,
Mirror those like at night;
The nest of pests parasitic.

Anger, like sadness, is too broad.
Am I enraged by indignation?
Am I grieving from someone gone?
They have their places.

But violence is never an answer.
Peace, no matter what,
Is ever hardly secured
Even if it is always optimal.

Those who pit the people against one another,
Deserve nothing but pain and shame
Like those who seek absolute control

Classes who are not entitled to anything
But that which us, the common people, gave them.
It looks as though

Many enemies & siblings come to head,
And long did we have to tread before rest.
