bodies drop, no pulse
graves with no name inscribed on
downtown festive no more
With 54,938 cases, the state I live in is the state with the 3rd highest corona rate. The downtown of my city, which used to have plenty of events and people roaming the streets, is a ghost-town, something that never happened even when the marathon bombing took place. This virus is terrifying. Everyone, please be safe during these times. (I just made this haiku about 5 minutes ago. I actually meant to make a haiku for haiku day but forgot lol.)

(In)Justice
Emma Apr 2020
The words of the King, said long ago and towards a vision of he who no longer breathes,
Of a future where different colored children are intertwined and men sees but not seethes,
Spoken by a man of dark skin who rose to be the king of freedom and equality and love,
Spoken in front of tall white buildings and spoken below a flying white dove.

He said, “I have a dream,” and those four words became a legend told to the next century
He raised his hands and shouted to the sky above, “Freedom and liberty!”
Even as decades went by those words were repeated and repeated, darkness into dawn,
And when children ask for the source, men say, “The Luther King is his name” to the fawns.

Yet of new times, southern states are still with loaded shotguns, ebonic skin shun red in the sun
Voices heard, yet brown children still fall seperated and their killers still hold loaded guns
Their mother(less)s hold them—Pietà—and shout to the sky above, “Freedom and liberty!”
And marches with signs saying “Black Lives Matter” carry the wake and funeral for equality.

Reaper comes to take the child, yet in death's place is the plants of a possible future of hope
Where society rebuilds and remakes and rehashes and restores, for light we wish to *****
“Is justice and righteousness rolling down?” "Is it like a mighty river who saves?”
We the people ask, and the King wonders too—the King, your king, who watches from his grave.
After almost a year of inactivity, I return with a poem made for a religion assignment. This is based around Amos 1:9 from the Bible as well as Martin Luther King's speeches and Letter from Birmingham. "Strange Fruit," the Pieta statue, and BLM also come to play in this. During this quarantine, I hope to go back to being active on this site like I was when I first joined. It was made 4/17/20.

Prisms of a heart
Shatters of mind and soul and
Lessons for a hurt brain
And yet again I make a poem about a topic I’ve never experienced lol. This was gonna be in some fanfic but I changed the story... I found the poem good enough to put here.

Strings around porcelain skin
Bruises that are so thin
Skin never grows
Face never shows never feels
Twirl can she ever
For my art project, I took my first poem on this site and made a black out poetry of it.

You know
It’s like a feat
It never stops or misses a beat
It’s like a feat
It’s like a dream
It takes you down an imaginative stream
It’s like a change
It surprises on what’ll be an exchange
It’s like a nightmare
It gives out a sickly red herring glare
It’s like a fall
It rushes out to a crying yet crackling call
It’s like a feat
It  stops or throws out a defeat
It’s like a feat
You know
Another poem for my art project, a reverse poem. Read it forwards or backwards, though I prefer backwards.

Self-Bitten
Emma May 2019
Itsy bitsy spider
Her heart is breaking inside her
Chandeliers turn into webbed hanging rope
Inflicting toxins that destroy hope
Eight eyes eight years two parents one parent
Stings from his death are still inherent
Restricts bruise brown skin with black lashes
Knives give out desires to mark with red slashes
Eight legs eight birthdays two paths one destiny
The memories make her head go really spinny
Poison has covered her whole shaking yet still body
And now she is set to succumb to what she has embody
Something for my final art project that I decided to upload here. For someone who doesn't like spiders, I sure make a lot of poems with them. This is self-reflective..."His death" is not referring to anything romantic, btw. Sadly referring to my dad. RIP 3/2/11 :(

Little rabbit, little rabbit,
Fetch me a lotus
Fetch me the infants born from nature’s paintbrush
Hopalong a long trail to the plentiful of colored leaves
Little rabbit, little rabbit,
Fetch me a fairy,
Fetch me the nectar of the water-dew above
Hopalong a long trail from the painted abyss
Little rabbit, little rabbit,
Fetch me a moon,
Fetch me the life grown from the quiet goddess above
Hopalong to the next canvas that awaits
Little rabbit, little rabbit,
Little lotus flower.

Web of Whopper
Emma Apr 2019
She is a girl who is webbed in her own lies
Lies that inflict stringed poison deep into her heart
Heart to the bad and dark, hate to the good and light,
Light loses all fire in her hurt and lost eyes
Eyes closed to continue to dwell in delusions
Delusions that serenade a tune of death to her ears
Ears that flutter with pink liquid that falls
Falls down with the same pink shade of her mouth
Mouth says no evil but embraces all evil
Evil she believes gives love to her soul and mind
Mind forever tangled up for she is a pitiful Persephone

Salut—welcome to Madam’s little fortune shop
Where you can see your own fate within an incense drop
My horns shimmer with necklaces that defeats all hexes
And my weapon is a skull of luck for both of the sexes
Now come and rest your left palm on this pentagram
I assure you that this is not a satanic scam
Cards shall give out a tale born from your consequences
As well as the horoscope that’ll mess with all five senses
I can pin a previous life and death within a single scar
I can name all your relatives as far as ones in alcazar
Withdraws are The Sun, The Moon, The Lovers, The Fool,
Listen to the revelations of storylines on your stool
With the Debut of Temperance, The Devil, the Hierophant,
Listen to the ways to avoid a man who is a sycophant
Pick a number from any of my twelve golden coins
To reveal a former lover that one day you shall rejoin
Now kindly look past the glimmers of my crystal ball
And you’ll see just how much your fortune can rise or fall
Last month, I asked a few artists if I could make poems based off their work, but I never got the chance...Until now. This poem is based on this lovely stockwork mashed up by Jasminira from DeviantArt: https://www.deviantart.com/jasminira/art/Predictor-785894696. I think this might be the best poem I've ever written, even more than Stringed Girl, tbh. Hope you guys enjoyed this.

The Golden Rule
Emma Apr 2019
♰♰♰♰♰♰♰♰♰♰♰
For all the flowers and wishes I’ve bestowed to others
And all the men I’ve treated like brothers
For all the children I’ve given affection
And all the “sisters” who shine in comparison
For I always remember the Lord tells me to bear arms with others
And to not stop even when they see me only as a bother.
My emotions are like a fire, easy to light and easier to burn,
My words can be like ice, cold but can defrost by what I learn.
My actions are like summer, heated and passionate with feelings
My wishes are like spring, still developing and a desire of healing.
Stick and stones may break my bones but words can’t be used against me
And with that, the golden rule is treat others the way you’d want it for you to be
And with that, give being nice and a disciple of Jesus a turn.
And with that, get rid of your negativity and let your anger burn.
♰♰♰♰♰♰♰♰♰♰♰

Turn Back the Clock
Emma Dec 2018
Reverse the growth of my upbringing roots
Start back to before the coming of one’s brutes
Let me put my clock's time backwards
I want to not have to take any more steps forwards
Fall we shall into a recurring pit
Mistakes allowed to have never been hit
Please grant permission to uncross the strings of time
Now all will be about to make a new outcome in their prime
Got this idea from Bleach's "Turn Back the Pendulum", though not about the events in that manga arc itself, but on the title's showing on going back to your yomger years...in my poem's case, going back to start over and prevent stuff. Btw...HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

The handles of time are wicked, pointy, and blood-lusting
They shoot into me like bullets and never stop their gusting
There is no talk on the matter on how getting out of me
Their marks on my life never disappear and historic shall they be
Oh, the pain of the mistakes done in time coming into history but never going out! Took me a few days to find a way to finish this lol
Emma Dec 2018
Thy is not blind, thy is full of life
Yet it be thy eyes has lost all soul
Thy colors have fallen and brutally died
There’s no hope, to find them is no more

Black, grey, whenever and wherever you go
Never to reappear in this monochromatic world
All colors have gone as if they vanished into below
Get them quick; they’re in hold!

Children will hear, children will be told
Of the story of no colors around
Only black and white are left, as the rest are mold
Grey in the sky, grey on the ground, colorless all around

Yet, in my hands, in this little polychromatic portfolio
I am still able to see the colors that left so long ago
I made this poem for an English project for the first semester of my freshman year in high school. I can't believe that was 2016, and I'm already about to enter into 2019 as a junior...Time sure flies! I was looking in google drives and suddenly saw this, and I knew right away that I had to upload this.
As you can see, even when I was younger I had depressing ideas for poems ****. Looking over this, it's not only nice to see how much I've improved, but also strange how I typed out gray in the British form (grey) when I'm American lol. I left this poem without any edits to show my work view of mistakes. xD also more lol I rhymed around twice in the third stanza.
Final lol: there was 2 spaces between the 2nd and 3rd stanza instead of one like for the reason of spaces between he four stanzas. I left it there to show how much I've grown lol.

The young ruler’s snow hair dissolves into sweet sprinkles of canary
And her golden eyes shall unleash a sting into whoever she shall marry

Emma Nov 2018
Tilted sword please spare my bow and arrow
I beg you not to throw your violet venom unto my wings of sparrow
Have mercy on my slicked backed and chipped horns
Less I throw my guardian and with him my thorns
Another poem made based on a character of mine, who's called Ryoko. Her ancestor was a Japanese swordsman most famous for slaying a dragon, on the request of angels, that was affecting the Asian parts of Heaven. He got to take the dragon as a trophy, and decided to put the dead monster locked away in his house, where magic let its blood flow, so he could put the blood into weapons for his descendants. Lol, guess this poem is more about him than Ryoko.

Crystal White Butterfly
Emma Nov 2018
Little insect that dwells into the dangling cocoon
Lend me your silk that is enhanced in voodoo
Look at the beautiful crystals that are above
That traps the angels and their golden harps and doves
Enhance to me your white smeared poison kiss
And I’ll be sure to melt with not even a hiss
Unravel your gown and engulf me into the silk
That’s already lost its flowers and gained its milk
Made off of two antagonists, who are mother and daughter in my story. I guess you could say the first four lines are for the daughter, and the four are for the mother? They're evil butterfly fairies with the power of making crystals, trapping people in their hair, and I guess some poisonous attack with the "lipstick" they use?

Sunset Flower
Emma Nov 2018
Pitiful aqua trying not to dissolve into the afternoon sky
She feels her dreams of being free also pass by
Her orange to pink hair falls unto the sandy beach
And remembers the dreams that are far too old to be in reach
Nectar from her locks engulf her body into a sweet poison
That the purple tinted water swipes away from the ocean
The black birds flap away as the orange vicinity closes
As the woman’s purple lips drip in shades of wilted roses
I recently got a tub curtain, and it has a large flower and then three mini flowers or so, all filled with the color orange and fuchsia, with dark pink branches, which gave me a sunset, tropical and memory lane feel, hence the poem.

I am writing a story about a girl seperated from her siblings due to a war, and she sings a song about a bird called the bar bellied pitta. Decided to make a poem about it in the POV of a witch that looks after said girl after the girl escapes the war.
Edit: I changed siblings to light cause it fit better and didn't make the meaning obvious
Emma Oct 2018
A heart that’s strained is one that bleeds a deep red,
And gets strangled by thorns known as blue veins,
To carry on with wicked, cruel, and purple dread.
All around, the scenery can give a green eyed feeling,
The pink of ****** cheeks spreads around the body,
And the blackness in the soul will require lots of healing.
Finally was able to finish a poem I started last week! It's the combination of emotions, depression, senses, and colors.

Dissolved Dream
Emma Oct 2018
At night I have the same dream that eases my mind,
Where my sweating arms float above and my eyes don't look at what's behind.
My neck get moist and my mouth forms clear bubbles,
And, for once, I am able to look at the sky and not feel in trouble.
My hair sinks down and with it goes my head,
And although my vision blurs I do not feel a dread.
My nose gets an overwhelming smell of salt and a sense of becoming nauseous,
But the folds of my clothes ensures me that there's no need to be cautious.
My feet slowly swing back and forth and warmness engulfs me,
As my ears succumbs to the intoxication of where my final resting shall be.
When I am able to rest my eyes and feel the clearing of my soul, however,
My eyes wake up with the sun that warms me shall it never.
A poem about a depressed person that feels warmth only when they dissolve into their slumber. I started it last Friday and finished the last four lines today.

Purchistic Bruise
Emma Oct 2018
Mistreatment, abandonment, corruption, exploitation,
Things that have been done, without any explanation.
Blue down the face, red down the brain,
Creating a purple, pleasurable feeling, of cruelty in perverted vain.
Yet the pleasure is reversed, for it was just an excuse,
For the deepest excuse that came from the most purple bruise.
I made this sophomore year. I believe I made the word "purchistic" up, and, no, I have no idea what purchistic means. Judging by the repeating "pleasure" wordplay, I think it was a combination of "purple" and "masochistic".

OH HOW THY IS STRUCKEN WITH TEARS DOWN THY FACE.
INVISIBLE MORTAL WINGS THAT SHALL ONE DAY BE SEEN AND RISE ABOVE,

Thy's Wings
Emma Oct 2018
If thy could have any heavenly wish of love,
It’d be for wings that fly past the clouds above,
With feathers that stick to thy back like gloves.
Thy would show great amounts of authentic glee,
To have been able to float high enough to look down on any tree,
And to finally be able to say that thy is free.
But when thy daydreams of such beautiful futures,
The amount of thy's enthusiasm becomes fewer,
As thy remembers the metal around thy's legs won't get any looser.
I did this in September, but I think I did the thy parts wrong opps

Stringed Girl
Emma Oct 2018
Strings, strings, wrapping around porcelain skin,
For why does the bruises not show?
With a waist, hip, and two legs that are so thin,
For why does the skin always glow?
Hair that never sheds, nor grows, nor messes,
For why does the girl not wash it?
With a merry face that still never truly expresses,
For why does the face not show even a slight fit?
Stoic, conjoined, the feet never stomping,
For why does the limbs never feel frostbit?
Perhaps it is a lie that the being is a girl,
As it is only with strings that she can ever twirl.
I did this about two weeks ago, as the poem you gotta send in order to the join the site. I hope y'all liked it. Does this count as a Halloween story?
