Lyn-Purcell Jul 2017
The struggles of the day
will give you strength to face the morrow
Give yourself the credit of bearing the
the pain
as well as all the sorrow
We're all here for a reason. Anytime I feel down or depressed over things in my life, I use this to remind myself that even with the pain that is unbearable at times, I am still here...

Lyre on her lap
Unsheathed the quill from inkpot
History now dries

Second muse for the day! ^-^
This haiku is dedicated to the muse, Clio.
I will always have a passion of history, haha!
The ink is dry on history but even so, history isn't always truthful...

Wisdom
Lyn-Purcell Jan 2018
I grew up being both loud and quiet.
I grew up speaking but was never heard.
I grew up seeing but was never seen.
I grew up helping others only to be back-stabbed.
I grew up proud but clouded by shame.
I grew up with writing because it was healing.
I grew up told I was ugly, never beautiful.
I grew up thinking I would never be good enough.

In short,
I grew up a rather lonely, sad, broken little girl.

I told others to keep going but I never followed
through with my own advice.
Hence my philosophy of,
"It's better to walk away than fight and be right."
Which is why I don't like arguing.
My doubts were so big that I was trapped
down a well,
drowning in my
LOW SELF-ESTEEM
DEPRESSION
ANXIETY
FEARS
PARANOIA
and wearing my heart on my sleeve,
all the while.

I didn't see who I was in my reflection,
I just saw negativity and I would cry uncontrollably.
I know I can't get back the time I've lost.
I can't restart my life with a push of a button.
I'm still a girl in a woman's body.

If only I knew everything I know now
when I was...
when life was more simple.

I want to feel proud enough that nothing
that can bind my wings.
To everything I dream.
Everything I want to be.
Not just lil ol' me.
Scared little Lyn...

As the sands of time run,
wisdom comes with every deed I do.
Every mistake I made.

My body is young, and yet I feel so old.
Like I've already lived and experienced things
and it leaves me feeling weary.
Anyone else feel this way?
You are not alone.
For everyone who commented on my poem 'Fear', thank you so much. It meant alot to me to have such kind things said when I was feeling so low. Truly, you're the greatest.

Winterspell
Lyn-Purcell Sep 2017
Can you feel it nearing?
The cold spell has been cast.
The energy of life and death
spread its wings.
A silken gossamer web woven.
And dances around, the music
of the wind.
And glancing down, the tranquilty
of the stars.
It waits.
Winter bares its teeth to all.
white and slimy and ready to bite.
Winter coils its frosty tail,
as it coils and sways and lashes about.
Flowers are blanketed and
houses are quilted.
And as the warmth fleets,
it retreats to the fruits.
It is through them
that we stay warm and
aflame.
Bite the peach.
It's sweet and ****.
And tendriled flame
will flutter and
coat.
Poem from my journal.

A bad choice made again and again
is not Fate's lesson,

Almighty God, Protector and Giver of Life,
I come to you this night for I have lost the light
and stepped into the valley of darkness.
Forgive me, for I failed you, breaking a
promise that I so wanted to keep.
I ask you to absolve me of my sins,

For as your Child,  I am the temple of your warm light.
Allow me to repent so I may spread

Change
Lyn-Purcell Jun 2018
I look to the past

to make sense of my present

and it will never stop me for

       looking towards the bright future

The journey my life takes won't get

better by mere chance or luck

It's up to me and only me to make

life worth living by choosing change,

a constant page that keeps on turning

                                      a rule that always reigns

But with it, I'll mature and chip myself

away and make my world shine anew,

                                                            and let the energy flow
Change is nature. One that people have a power to influence, for better or for worse. It's all down to our strength of our resolve.
We can learn from the past. The past has some answers for the present. But I don't want to be so focused on those that I miss the future.

Hope everyone's alright!

The sun is captivated by the moon's lunar fire
The moon is bewitched by the sun's blazing spears
While the moon sees the human soul, she aspires
To pierce through the day without any fears.

But she knows her duties, and she lights the tides
While her counterpart shines with a glorious touch
But unlike the sun, in her, the humans confide
Feeling loved by them, their secrets - her crutch

Unlike stillness of the moon, the sunlight can't be outrun
All he can do is stare and glare and comes, an eclipsing tune
So close, she was. Smiling and calm, the moon embraced her sun
So full of glee, he chuckled as the sun reached for his moon
I just let the words flow out of my head. And I transferred it from my notebook to the here.
Lyn-Purcell Jul 2017
They say the pen is mighter than the sword.
In truth, it is equally as dangerous.
Words can be steel against others
Words can cut deeper than a physical wound
(Especially now that the roots of race and prejudice
and ignorance is laid bear for all to see, along with
it's flames)
Words are arrows
Loosed into the air and once its been fired,
you cannot take it back.
There are some who abuse words as well
Just like swords, words can start a battle
A battle of wits
When the person must have a stone heart against
what is said.
When you hold the pen, you hold a golden flower.
Though there is beauty in it, you should also be afraid
of the gold tube and black ink.
In a society like ours, where the superficial rules over
the original, one word, what you saw, what you write
Has the destiny of creating a legacy
OR
Add further fuel to the fires of hatred
This poem is just me expressing how I see the pen. As I said before, this is my atonement in a way. The pen is nighter than the sword, they say. Honestly, the pen is just as brutal

~ Song of the Lily ~
Lyn-Purcell Oct 2017
Within my floral heart
are songs that have grown
from flowers I either
love or loathe

The lily is one that I love
And there are many variations
to be admired.
It is the blushing ****** of the water.
That wakes from much strife,
rising from filth for the
kiss of the sun.

~AND ~

Then there's the lily of the valley
the bright star of Morn.
A crying flower in my eyes
The lily of the valley among thorns
bowing their humble heads.
Frail clouds above whispering grass
that sway left and right, left and right.

Sweet watery beauty in one eye, weeds
hanging from a noose in another.
Out of the umbran moments, they seem to bloom
with their scintillating lights.
Blushing pink or white or blue or yellow
stars.

The earth is kissed and blessed with flowers,
each blessed with their own song.
Even I struggle to uncover their secrets.
Even I can not fully decipher their fragrance
All there is is fragments
so sad tales in desert air

Within my floral heart
are songs that have grown
from flowers I either
love or loathe
First of my floral poems...
