Headaches.
MsAmendable Jun 2015
I like to get truely confused at the world.
At all the finicky things we avoid thinking about.
Like exactly how big the universe is,
Forever is hard to understand.
Or life.
Yes, life.
Not the meaning of it,
That's like 'what's the meaning of light?'
It just is.
No, I mean how.
How do plants grow?
That is, physically change size
What was before the big bang?
Or how aliens are like a cat
Well, Schrödinger's cat
See the universe is so big
They MUST exist!
But... At the same time, not at all.
Huh.
Also, what do things go 'boom'
Could animals swim inside the earth?
Is it possible to bend forces (like gravity)?
Yea, a lot of spacey questions.
Do we only think animals see black and white,
not just a different spectrum?

Sigh. I'll stop now.
Brain freeze.
Eh not really a poem but who cares. You, reader, yes you, don't think too hard about any of the space ones. Yes, its different from just reading.

Twilight
MsAmendable Jun 2015
I look for twilight,
The dim purplish light
Signifying neither day or night
But merely time,
held in lofty suspension
For precious few moments,
Not so blinding as day
Nor as smothering as night
But a momentary lapse
In the gaps between heaven and here,
Wherever here might be.

December

I'll see you next December
When the crisp leaves crack
And heads tilted back
To taste the snow- remember
Me, and our lovely flurry embers,
I'll never forget forever

With you next December

Electric Night
MsAmendable Jun 2015
I love the energy of night
You can feel it, you know-
Seeping out of the ground,
Filling the air with and electric buzz
Sleepy people also release energy
Out, out to the night,
Until very late
When even it grows tired and still
And the energy condenses into dew
Until morning.
MsAmendable Jun 2015
The dark drapes of night
hang over a sea of twinkling city lights,
held up only by the dark towering trees and distant velvety mountains.
The hot air finally cooled to bliss.
This is why I love the night.

The goddess
MsAmendable Jun 2015
Swirling coils of thick heat
Rise like snakes, reaching
Waving angrily in the air,
Poisoning us who cling
To the parched earth,
And stretch, up, up
Into the cool, tender night,
Whose cool fingers sooth
And gentle caresses calm
The angry snakes
Until they coil back down to sleep,
And then her gentle breath
Soothes, too, our troubles
And lays us down softly sleeping
Into the comforting coils
And warm bodies
Of the snakes

Dance!
MsAmendable Jun 2015
You've got to move to the rhythm and sway
Let the sound wash your troubles away
Its your turn to seize the day
So swim in the rhythm and sway

Hold your arms out to catch the beat
Lose your self in the music retreat
Spin on your new light feet;
Have the bad pounded out by the beat

Its not a song, its your soul
Feel it heal you until you're whole
It'll warm you when you're cold
Move to the music of your soul

Not a daydream
MsAmendable Jun 2015
The moon pours night into the sky
Dripping out a curtain of icy stars,
Inking over the drawing of day
Sliding over the silver leaves
Creeping along the corners
Trailing wet black smears
Filling puddles with tar,
Choking out the light
Until, at last, it's night.

Summer sunsets
MsAmendable Jun 2015
Golden sunsets glow
Slanting through your windows, cold
Lighting dust into lazy snow
Drifting, drifting slow
The blaze first to go
Then fiery Amber toes
Paint red skies bold
Then before the story is told
The colour away is blown
And melts into summer nights.

Chocolate pudding
MsAmendable Jun 2015
I am
Sitting in the sun
Eating store-bought chocolate pudding
Next to one who calls me a friend,
I cannot say the same.
The sun is warmer,
The pudding sweeter...
And the company is almost excruciating.
But,
Eating indoor pudding
Is nothing but bland.
And for all that she ******* about everything incessantly,
She is still warmer than the abandoned hall.

I welcome night
MsAmendable Jun 2015
I am not ready for this day;
The sun shines far too bright.
So I'll just shut my eyes again
And pretend its velvet night.

Yes, today I have work,
And I stayed up far too late,
But please wrap me in sleep, oh moon,
Though its time to wake

Sideways beauty
MsAmendable Jun 2015
Do not touch
The shards of glass
That lay fallen
Where the bottle broke;
No matter how pretty they are,
Or how nicely they catch the sun,
And no matter that they gleam like stars,
Because the edges are sharp,
And could cut your fingers,
And leave you so brilliantly broken;

And yet I still found you
Crouched beside glass like crushed diamonds
With thick beads rolling down your fingertips
Gleaming impossibly red like rubies
On crystal edges
With no regrets or regards
And I can't say I blame you.

Chips of gleaming ice
MsAmendable Jun 2015
It is cold tonight,
But that's alright.
Leftover winter air
Rushes through my open window ,
And coils of my heat
Languidly rise to the stars
Obscured by city air, true;
But still sitting undisturbed
Far, far away from this night.
This night that takes my warmth.

Great things to come
MsAmendable Jun 2015
The night was murderously quiet.
The air rushed through my ears as if it knew
How dangerous it was to be heard
In a night like that.
And the stars
Hushed like the grave.
That was the night you were born.

Leftover red paint
MsAmendable Jun 2015
Red paint dries on a tissue
Slowly
The same rush hue
Glazes imperceptibly
Gently losing shine
And carefully dulls without change
And softly hardens until dry,
When you can touch it without fear
of red fingers, red clothes, red smears
But still, wasted paint on a tissue
Will be thrown away without notice
And still dry red.

And our devious ways
Hide our smiles behind upturned cups
As we gaze; half lidded iridescent moons
Swirling in misty lakes,
And we raise our chilly glass to our lips
But not to drink,
For then we would be forgotten.
No idea where this came from, I was looking for painting inspiration!

Settle uneasily on cold sidewalks
Stirred into frenzy

And smelled like honey.

MsAmendable Jun 2015
Standing in light
Cast by day
Tiptoe through shadows
Which connect anyway.
The sun is so bright
It corrodes away;
And I'm healed by night,
Cool layers of gray
Also not a vampire. Not sure if writing while tired makes my poems loopy... Will have to check in the morning

My eyes plead for sleep, for sleep
But night entreats me to creep, to creep
Out in the black so deep, so deep
And follow the fence so neat, so neat
Up the hill so steep, so steep
Where light shines so meek, so meek
In a cold breeze so weak, so weak
Under a tree that's sharp, not bleak
And do the wild dance for dreams
But its warmer to stay in bed

A trick of the light
MsAmendable Jun 2015
The night whispers
Things the stars told them
Lines of truth to sound like ink
And stolen murmers, he didn't think
That, for all their wisdom, stars
Have wild mischief in their hearts
And oh, the things they make you dream
But still, all things I'm glad I've seen
But night soon grows too weary and old
And the stars fade in shining gold
Before night can tell me what he's told
From the stars who live so silver-bright
And so good morning, and goodnight
MsAmendable Jun 2015
The day's more lovely than a rose
Which under temperate climate grows
But soft, the sun and warm wind blows
The day's far more lovely than a rose

The rose, though lush, will fade away
And on the grass limp petals play
All in all, rose pales to day
Whose skies do dance on lands away

Flowers fade but day sustained
Melt to night and stars are gained
Flowers pulled from weak roots strain
But always, always day remains

I found a pretty little box
In a pretty shade of blue,
In it I sat to wait;
Both for change and you.
And if it starts to rain,
I'll wear it as a hat,
And wait for you again.

But, I wonder what I'd see,
From my box of blue,
If first came change, not you
And I'd wonder what I'd do

After all, you were supposed to come...

Tensions settle, stir
Slewing ink air into a blur
In the miraculous concord
Before the storm;
Ice hot and warm.

Lights in the skies glint
Not quite menacing, but a hint
In a grimacing, starry light
Mars is bright tonight.
Its bright, *tonight
In astrology, mars being bright signifies violence or fighting (forgive me if I'm a touch off)

With perfect pirouettes;
Starstruck for sparkle and luck
Which are lining the lane
Of cobblestone victories
And violet cracks
And I wove dreams from shadows,
Wild and soft, like thunder and frost
And what seems like stars hang suspended
In truth, are wishes  I was lended
And flowers spun from magic tended

Dance; Rain Trance
MsAmendable May 2015
I went out in the rain last night
With a soothing tap-pat on the roof
It nearly lulled me to sleep all right
But dream-spoke to come out for a gift
  and said only the truth

I padded, I glided to the door
And was rushed by the fresh rain-air,
I sunk my toes in puddles for more;
Arms flung wide, head back, feet bare

Lilacs and thunder smelled on the rain
And so I spun 'round and 'round
Not out for long, but I'll go back again;
To soak in the cold, fresh and the sound

Demented Ramblings
MsAmendable May 2015
We have
Too much confidence for competence,
Such deliberate disguises.
Our silly grins grimly thin.
We are the hollow men,
And insidious ideals appeal
In a dream stealing spiel with zeal.
No rest for a lost boy.
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a shout but a whisper
I.....only wrote half of this

where did dreams go?
MsAmendable May 2015
Where went wonder,
Magic and thunder
Wonder pulled asunder,
My miracles sunk under
Faster than floating castles
Those rascals got chills,
Their wide eyed wills
Thwarted with skill
And practiced 'goodwill'
Slowly filled by pills that ****
I'm I'll.

Petty, weak, pithy,
Silly society, limp and flaccid
Our goals and dreams
Scratched with acid, I'll pass it.
Thrashing, clashing, crashing
I'll break these chains
Breaking our bent brains
Bringing pain, no gain
All gains
I'm scared, stunted, strained
Stained, not changed
Brain-maimed I'm afraid
To stay, say what I see
I see deceit, pretty and neat
Row on row on row
In cages we built below.

Those C.O.D kills ****
Not them, but us,
Oh, less, less of us
No trust, we rust and cuss
Our silly grins grimly thin
Flowing through holes holes we made
In our soul, berefit
Leeched of life and full of ****.

Dreams were taken, or left,
And ambition theft.
Nothing to reach for, to dream for
To clutch at
To rip your limits, tear your seams,
What has been was never seen.
Our stunted dreams slowly wean.

People make no sense,
Too much confidence for competence
And social stigma indents
Empty houses, homeless, and rent
Knowledge, not power,
-but freedom gone sour
Knowing you can't change the cruel
Its in the rules to be a fool!
Its......cool?

If we are the world,
oceans are curdled.
Stars are waning, fading
Dropping from skies like dead flies
They burn up, out, and die
Choked in the smoke we provoked
Insidious ideals appeal;
A dream stealing spiel with zeal
Leeching you like your wallet the day
Of the 'no pay' car unpaid.
And now, with nowhere to go
And nowhere to stay,
Not even dreams left,
They took that away

Empty Stares See Magic
MsAmendable May 2015
Wafting through your home in a housecoat,
Ends trailing, you hold the railing.
Put cereal in your bowl, and eat it cold;
Thoughts dragged to dreams,
Your hands to your pen,
Putting words to emote the leaves
And they cling falteringly to starving trees
On the brink of release-
You sit back in your hard chair,
Almost not even there,
Gaze an empty stare,
You see beyond your caging walls,
Magic is alive! Songs in the skies and wind!
Who said crazy was a sin?
I'll say its amazing, go back to your dream
And draw it, paint it, write it again
See it, live it again.
And then, share some with me
So I, too can see.

The Song of Silence
MsAmendable May 2015
Music in silence
Is the swish of leaves on trees
The shush of the breeze
The smiles on buttercups
The sweet clovers wishing you luck
The coy wiles of roses
And the big blue sky that never imposes
The sound of frost creeping over every
         blade of grass at night
The first, and last, few rays of light
The brush of feathers
And dew straining on silken tethers
The silhouette of seas afar
The promise and hush of sleepy stars
The sun warmed dirt beneath our feet;
The song of silence never misses a beat

So why not say
How beautiful it is

And lived through the pain
To the gain.

Don't sit in nice neat rows
They follow their hearts and their dreams
And where the wind does blow

I love my hardy dandelions
They know to persevere
Their little songs will always flow
Where gardeners can't hear

They will not drop
For silly things
Like being torn
Or poisonings

And These dear sweet flowers
Let their beauty show
In their stunning yellow smiles
And fluffy white tufts kids blow
For hours

And so my pretty dandelions
Yes, they go where others should
But they do their best as they can
And I promise they'll be good
