Liar, liar
An acquired taste
Your mouth is fire
Your past a disgrace

Liar, liar
I trust only you
Your story I admire
And your lies, too

Runner, runner
You'll do as I say
I was a goner
Since I told you to stay

Desire, desire*
Nothing, is what love is
Perhaps I'm the liar
We can't run from this
You touch me
And all of a sudden
The fish are drowning
Swimming, breathless
Towards the surface
Where the air is turning into
Fairy dust
Painting the sky in
A thousand different colors

Then you're gone
Fairies aren't real
The sky is just blue
The helpless fish
Are being cooked
And paintings are just paintings
Even if they remind me of you
Little dreamer
Dream me a fountain
I'll throw the coins
And our wishes will come true

Little dreamer
Dream me the moon
My life is dark
When I'm not with you

Little dreamer
Dream me your love
I'll let you have mine
When your eyes are closed

Little dreamer
Dream me the world
And we'll make houses
Out of fairy tales

Little dreamer
Is dreaming all you can do?
Oh, little dreamer
Maybe I dreamt you
loneliness becomes you
as even the rain disappears
when the sky opens up
to dry your tears
You slip into unconsciousness
And the world starts to dance
Behind your closed eyelids
You can see anything when
Your thoughts are silenced
And your mind starts to scream

A sad story begins to play
Inside your cobwebbed head
Fed by parts of your soul
They're black and white movies
But the people are scary and loud
Emerging from your silent,lurking doubts

Your white wings are wide and outspread
When you play a part in those scenes
While other people are ***** and red
Shadows follow you around
Attached to your aching feet
Yet the sun is nowhere to be seen

Then the horrible part takes place
It's not much of a plot twist
No angel survives amongst demons
You're left with wounds and burns
And a pair of beautiful broken wings
But it doesn't hurt, your heart is asleep

The alarm sounds and you wake
Pulled from the depths of your mind
And you think you left the nightmare behind
But as the day progresses you begin to feel
As monsters still haunt you loud and clear
There isn't much of a difference between
What is a dream and what is real
It had just stopped raining
The musty smell from the
Carved wood of the swings
And the earthy scent of the
Damp sand below them
Awoke in you a nostalgic feeling
And memories started playing
Like old movies inside your mind.

A child’s sweet laughter
Filled your ears and you found yourself
Mesmerized by the innocence of
That young, boisterous voice
You had long forgotten
It sounded like your song
Played in a different key
A melody life had yet to change

You wished you could still run to mom
When you tripped and hurt your knee
Back when the only kisses that mattered
Happened when she kissed it better
Back when the only wounds you
Had to bandage were from
Falling on the playground

The movie ended and too soon
You spotted the dark clouds ahead
Gathering over you like thoughts
On comic books you used to read
You got up and left the memories behind
They stayed there like kids would
Having fun like you never could again.
Everything is overestimated
Love is blind to your pain
Happiness is fleeting
Fear is a wall people hide behind
Everything is an obstacle
In your self-righteous path
The games they're obsessed with
Are to you a mere distraction
From the boredom of your existence

He's the exception
He makes you feel painless
He is the candle in the dark room
That is your soul
He is the lifeboat that keeps you
From drowning in your thoughts
He is the cactus in the flower killing
Desert that is your mind

So if you don't care about anything
Enough to hate it
And everything is overestimated
He is nothing
This must be nothing
**And nothing lasts forever.
You're part of the sea
You move with the waves
As birds move with the wind
There's a mermaid's tail
Where two legs were supposed to be
Instead of eating fish
You keep them for company
Your hands look like mine
Slender and smooth
But yours are efficient as fins
Half boy, half creature
But you fell in love with me

I've got sand between my toes
And I barely know how to swim
We can run in opposite ways
One towards land
The other towards water
And we'd never be able
To follow each other
You try to teach me
And I listen carefully
But there's only so much
A lion can learn from a deer
And so I drown as I tell you -
*You're part of the sea
I am but a human
And you are but a fish
Some things just aren't meant to be.
Because I read the book Teeth by Hannah Moskowitz and I'm feeling weak so I had to write about it.
Oh, sweet thing,
What's making you sad?
Flowers grow upside down
Inside your restless head
Their invisible thorns
Won't let you leave your bed
Oh, sweet thing,
Always feeling blue
Can't you see the only one
Who's driving you mad
Is you?
i’ll never really know
how scared the color red
made you feel
before we met

watching as she bled
burying the dead
alone with no bed
a long road ahead

but as of right now
paint the future red
with us together, somehow
it’ll look like love instead

not hanging by a thread
the sadness we’ll shed
nothing more to dread
let all the colors spread
The air doesn't suffocate
Where you come from
I inhale sadness and
Exhale hope as I
Watch my dreams
Turn into carbon dioxide

The grass is greener on
Your side of the world
You water it and flowers grow
In my garden the ground is ash
And the trees have been dead for long

The sky is blue and white
On your planet called utopia
And at night stars grace you
With their celestial presence
Mine is dark and frightens even the sun

Artists write and sing and paint
And bow to this beautiful place
But if all they say is true
Maybe I am from outer space
You're a papercut
Only when I look at you
Does it hurt
There's fog in his head
And he can't see you clearly
He notices only what you're
Trying to hide

(Because a clouded mind
Still makes better judgments
Than yours)

Your head screams at you to run
And instead you feed him half truths
You want to prove to him
Lies aren't all there is to you

(Are you staying because
You thought you had nothing to lose
Or because he asked you to
And now you do?)

You question if hate is all there is
Because it has never felt like this
And hate never came with promises
And kisses and a home
Attached to it

(And you wonder if his key
Fits the lock that will
Bury your past somewhere
Where it can't reach you)

(It does.)
Where there's war
There's peace
Because it's hard
To tell love and
Hate apart
When they both
Come from
The heart
I called you the moon
And then you walked away
Weeks went by and I thought
Out of all the games we play
This was the worst of the lot
Time and time again
I asked you to stay
I promised to make it worthwhile
We would be okay
But then you came back and I understood
It doesn’t matter what I say
Because you really are the moon
And you’ll keep changing, everyday
Your throat is tight
Don’t you feel the need to breathe?
Before your face turns blue
Do what they say is right
How unbelievable is it
Fixing your mind with glue

It’s fine, they promess
Even if you’re seeing double
And the nausea is too much
You just want to suffer less
Isn’t this worth the trouble
When you’re in a rush?

Life is about to start
What’s broken needs to heal
What’s lost needs to be found
They tear your mind apart
Can’t even tell what’s real
But it’s alright, you’ll come around
'This is my favorite park,'
I tell you, your hand holding mine
We're stealing kisses in the dark
You laugh as you look around
At the broken trunks and fallen leaves
Nothing but dirt decorating the ground
'I've seen prettier places,'
You reply as you imagine daisies,
Freshly cut grass and paradise
'It's about the memories,'
I say, hand falling to my side
You look away as you try to hide
The confusion, clear in your eyes
You don't get it and you seem content
To never look back, live in the moment
Even though in the same park we both stand,
While flashbacks play through my head
To you, it's just another piece of land
No matter how much we share, my darling,
My nostalgic heart you'll never understand
It’s Saturday night
And you call me a fool
Because I’d rather stay home
I don’t live to play cool

It’s still Saturday night
And you drink as you dance
Your arms wrapped around a body
As if you ever stood a chance

It’s almost Sunday
And everything has changed
You went out to have fun
But a gun is pointed at your face

It’s almost Sunday
And blood has been shed
This was your safe place
Now all you see is red

It’s Sunday morning
And the world isn’t fair
The culprit was a weapon
That shouldn’t have been there

It’s Sunday morning
And I’m calling you instead
But you don’t pick up the phone
Because you’re dead
The US are not a safe place to be right now with these gun laws. If you defend them, I'm sorry, but you're not right. People hate on other people's sexualities in other countries as well but they don't walk into clubs and start shooting them, why? Because they don't have guns. Sure, it's the thought that kills and not the weapon, but it's much harder to ****** people without one. The day before this, some random guy shot a singer in the head 3 times after her concert. Today another guy was caught with weapons as he was driving or something to the LA Pride Festival. This is not right. These people should not be allowed to carry weapons. My condolences to the families of the victims from the mass shooting in Orlando. I once wanted to live in the US, I'm not sure about this anymore.
and perhaps, one day
you might have liked to grow
and share your Neverland
with someone you’d come to know

but was life ever fair
to boys who were lost
granted, you discovered yourself
but at what cost?

they said to never say goodbye
and to never go away
but they forgot to warn you
sometimes life won’t let you stay

and you’ll never be forgotten
because we all believe
with a bit of fairy dust
in our Neverland, you’ll forever live.
Remembering Michael Llewelyn Davies, one of the boys who inspired  J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan.  This poem is dedicated to him and to Jonathan Ferrara, an author whose upcoming book  inspired me to write this poem.
our love is a song
and it’s out of key
run along, run along
you don’t need me

without a hook
i am but a blank page
our love isn’t a book
it’s just a cage

forgive and forget
but don’t ever fall
our love was a bet
we lost it all
I also just want to make a quick announcement: my poetry book "Alex's Spilled Ink" is free on kindle today and for a limited amount of time
Tell me, brother of mine,
How many rules has
This world broken
How many secrets does it keep
Some so heavy they sink
To the bottom of the ocean
Like a million stones

Why are those stones left unturned
Washed away by the current
And in their place
Smaller secrets rise,
Lighter than feathers,
To the surface
Where unfair judgment
Awaits their return
When moonlight comes
And you have no company
Seek me not for I might assume
You want more than my lips and perfume
By watching the stars with me
I know what you came here for
So skip the cheap words and alcohol
And lead the way to the dance floor

Our sadness is the same
Broken hearts dipped in black
Love is but a twisted game

Polite conversations are in vain
Small talk a waste of time
I’ll distract you from the pain

Come, uncross your arms
We can go anywhere
You can’t resist my charms

And as the night comes to an end
We’ll keep going , no destination
Just keep playing pretend

Come, you don’t want my pity
Take my hand, take this chance
The night is ours and so is this city
and you might wake up early
and curse your life
but watch the sun rise
over the darkest clouds
and then you'll realize
you've simply been awake
at all the wrong hours
This is what happens when I have to be on a train at 6.30 AM and actually watch the sunrise. It is much less poetic when you're not a morning person.
His smile is a black hole
What's on the other side?
Those eyes dark as charcoal
Like he's got something to hide

On you he takes no pity
In his arms is where you are
Pulls you in like gravity
This boy is a superstar
Cruel beast
They call you
Blood thirsty fist
Not afraid to die
Protect what's yours
Make grown men cry

Unlucky life
You lead
Hold on to that knife
Look at what you became
Your world was poisoned
Keep your head in the game

And now he's come along
But not on a white horse
You sing him a song
About a promise and a key
This liar believes in you
And in all you could be

A happier life
You lead
Drop the knife
Look at what you've become
Not a knight in shining armor
But he's home
Okay guys! A bit sooner than I expected, my book is out!
Here’s the summary:
“A hero or a villain
To them it’s black or white
You’re a spectrum of a person
And none of them are right”

Alex’s Spilled Ink is a compilation of Alex’s poems, divided into three parts: heaven, earth and hell.
Heaven. Dip your hands in the warm, crytal water and reach for the words at the bottom of the lake. Inspiration. Hope. Love. Which will you take?
Earth. Keep your feet on the ground but look up towards the sky. What do you see? The moon, the stars, life passing by?
Hell. Fire burns but so does passion. You fight your battles and sometimes you lose. Hurt. Pain. Grief. Keep on fighting, there’s no excuse.

Alex's Spilled Ink is available only on every amazon (free on kindle unlimited!)

I hope you guys like my little compilation of poetry!
Was it not raining
Just minutes ago?

I could swear my eyes
Were dripping with tears
But I didn't want you to know

You were always at your best
Under a cloudy sky
I won't let my weakness show

But it's time to say goodbye
There's rain in my eyes again
Oh, how could I stoop so low

I put the flowers on my cheeks
Instead of on the ground with you
Maybe with my tears they'll grow
And I'll keep them, as I let you go
Nostalgic
Is the dreamer
Who keeps going back
To a time before
His brightest dreams
Became
His darkest nightmares
what is life
but a field of flowers
that you pick and you pick
some last and some wilt
and when only a daisy is left
as its petals slowly fall,
one by one, you wonder
'did I love, or did I not'
until you finally fall asleep
surrounded by all the flowers
that you caught
It looks like a nightmare
It hurts like reality
There he is, the ghost of him
Running his soft hands over your skin
Whispering endearments in your ear
Lovely promises he never got to keep
There's nowhere else for you to be but here
Even if nothing is ever as it seems
He was gone, he is gone
But he's here in your dreams
foolish young prince
wrapped up in your fairytale
not every story has a
happy ending
and yours, oh yours
it’s got magic, and knights,
and it’s even got a kiss
ah, the stuff of dreams
you’d forever miss
but witches can curse
and knights wield swords
and to make matters worse
it’s not a princess you want
you foolish young prince
stuck inside your bubble
in love with a king
looking for trouble
oh, what a twist
the princess is crying
the witches are cursing
the knights, they’re after you
foolish young prince
learn to hide your desire
they don’t like what’s different
it’s copies they admire
guess your happily ever after
ended in disaster
and afterall
even mighty princes
fall
off their white horses
prince of the forest
growing inside of me
antlers feel like gold
to my searching fingertips

stag caught in headlights
warning signs on hazel eyes
yours were even bluer
than the bluest skies

hunters with silver knives
chasing our bumpy trail
but your hooves fast as light
they chased to no avail

young deer kissed the fox
yapping at its feet
predator and prey
in peace can finally meet
stand your ground
because he won’t understand
why he still hasn’t found
who you are and what you’ve planned

hide away
for he can’t know
that you’ve decided to stay
because there’s nowhere to go

forget that feeling
because he might feel it, too
you need to keep running
he can’t get attached to you

and once it’s too late
he won’t let you fall
you’ll see how funny is fate
and how unpredictable is love,
after all
the sun is setting
far behind us
the world moves on
why can’t I?
your hand is slipping
my face is sinking
the credits are rolling
and I try, I try
you disappear from sight
the moon is still just as bright
but the night doesn’t feel right
it’s a lie, a lie
(because the world doesn’t care
if you say goodbye
life is unfair
and I cry, I cry)
Welcome to our zoo
The best in town
It will be a pleasure
Showing you around

Look at the lions
But make no sound
So beautiful, so tame
But they will get you down

Look at the monkeys
They laugh and they eat
Think you drink a lot?
They will have you beat

Look at the seals
Waiting for their treat
They'll come crying to you
Once their clothes don't fit

Look at the ducks
Courage they don't lack
To protect their families
They won't hesitate to attack

Too soon the visit's over
Pick your poison, have a snack
We're all animals in this zoo
And we know you will come back
This book you opened
That you now refuse to read
Was once what you wanted
And now what you need

Swift are your fingers
As they move through the pages
But the feeling that lingers
One you haven’t felt in ages

Don’t close the book
For once, follow through
Take yet another look
They’re counting on you

The key to recovery
And everything that matters
A journey of self discovery
Hidden in those letters
Those were the days
We'd collect stones
That fell from the sky
Pieces of the universe
On the palm of our hands

Those were the nights
We'd stand on your roof
And you'd show me the stars
As if you weren't a galaxy
In my eyes, already

Those were the days
You'd save me from the others
Who couldn't understand us
Because we were abstract paintings
And only made sense to each other

Those were the nights
My dreams were filled with you
Two kiss covered bodies
Entwined together on a bed of love
Not even time could tear apart

Those were the days
Those were the nights
Now they are but memories
From a lonely mind
and too late you remember
you were not raised by wolves
but by vicious humans
and their family ties
are not made of
nylon threads
strong and colorful
everlasting
but of cotton
softer, yes,
but easy to break
Light up the way
An arm around my shoulder
Guide me today
Stay until we're older

We know we can survive
Daylight won't end
*Tomorrow we'll thrive
Today we pretend
i notice your light from afar
it helps my eyes to see
and leads the way to you

but just like that of a star
it takes too long to reach me
you’re gone when I pull through
and at the edge of madness
they offered him a hand
tragic acts of kindness
for with him
they later
sank
Your mind is full of demons
Bad memories casting shadows
Over the good ones
Once you were played
So you became the player
Holding hands and making
Deals with the monsters
Under your bed
Once you were played
And you'd been fond of magic
But blinded by hope
You missed the trick
Now you play them instead
My interest in you
Was like a piece of paper
I set ablaze
One second it was there -
Then it was not
Your love for me
Was as unfortunate
As the waves
And it kept coming back
When I pushed it away
Does it break your heart
To know that pretty stars
Don't shine on their own?
That others have been there from the start
Holding on to that light
For longer than you've ever known?
If humans had wings
They’d still make the mistake
Of flying back to the people
Who’d cut them off
We let our hearts be broken
Because we have hope
And with love and recklessness
As parents,
Hope’s only child
Is disappointment
You force them into silence
With promises and false democracies
But it's with flowers, not violence
That you keep a swarm of bees
You treasure hearts
Because they’re easy to love
As long as you keep
Living
I treasure minds
Because they change my world
Long after their hearts stop
Beating
Hey guys, you might have (probably not) noticed that I have deleted some of my poems. Fact is, I have written a poetry book that is to be released sometime this month which contains some of the poems that were here.  I will be self publishing it on amazon (and maybe smashwords) under my pen name, Alex Oliveira! It will hopefully be released sometime this month (I’ll definitely let you know) and I’m very, very excited!
Have a nice week!
