Lust
greatsloth Dec 12
That dark desire clouds your mind
It whispers something profane
Asking for pleasure that bind
Filthy corruption and bane.
Feeling a little patriotic so I'll share the traditional poem of Philippines, Tanaga, which follows a 7-7-7-7 structure with AAAA/ABAB/AABB rhyme schemes. This is the first tanaga that I've written hope you like it.

Anxiety, the ever damnable beauty
You twisted my love into sins
You bend my trust into truths;
You are a rose that doesn't have thorns
Instead you're armed with thousand swords,
And in them I found myself
Always wounded—
Always I fold.

In the end I am a jester,
Laughing like a fool,
Kneeling in front the gallows
About to lose my darling head;
The stench of all the depraved
Mixed into a harrowing essence called Despair
Seeping into my soul as it pollute the air.

Darkness hugs me as my only friend
Crystals stained the pillows in my bed;
I know there's no problem
But you cunning devil incessantly whispered to me,
That they are always near.
Please don't be alone with your thoughts.

Clouds and You (1)
greatsloth Sep 29
I gaze at the clouds
The way I gaze at you
I find them lovely
No matter what they do
Just like how I find you pretty
Even though you think yourself as a misery.
The day I fell in love with the clouds.

Song of Others
greatsloth Dec 8
Why do the songs
Of the fallen of love
Nibbles my heart
Yet I have never been loved

Why do the songs
Of the festival's dancers
Makes my lips jump
Yet I'm rarely filled with joy

Their slow and fast rhythm and beats
Invites my mind to imagine
A life that I didn't live
A life that I wouldn't feel

Their voices tell me stories
One that I shouldn't know
But on my mind will stay rent free
Until I grow into one dilapidated fool.

Midnight Murmurs
greatsloth Sep 27
I feel cold
Thinking about what the stars foretold,
It is inevitable
One day you'll leave me alone.

I had my meds ready
And my tissues are plenty;
How much tears will I shed?
I hope it helps, the scenarios in my head.

Overthinking is a curse
But it does mitigate the worse
The darkness was my bit of light, isn't it ironic—
It's like having a villain save everyone's life... isn't that iconic.

How twisted my world
It gave me the cure even before the disease do unfold;
Tonight it's cold
Without a blanket I curved into a ball
Thinking about the sad things that seems probable.

Stardust
greatsloth Sep 24
Why does stardust formed us humans?
Born from great celestials
Yet fragile like a paper fan;

Many say we are related—
In their glorious death
Our history started,
I find it hard to believe
Cause if so
Then why am I here
Stranded in a planet
Full of grief and sadness;

Stars, why you shine on this mortals?
Is this a whim, or that hope in Pandora's box?
greatsloth Sep 27
The lonely flower
among the grasses,
I found you a beauty
among the masses.

Your ebony eyes
took my soul a hostage,
becoming less than a human
more like a servant of cupid.

I am in peace
hearing your heartbeat,
your voice, like a siren
slowly sinking me deep.

Oh, it's scary
how hard I dance
in your grasp; in your tune
I am a puppet of love.

Seems like I inhaled
your pollens—toxic
I have fallen, even though
your red petals blazes.

The Stars' Therapist
greatsloth Nov 8
People dream of being a scientist
Meanwhile, I wish to be a therapist,
Not for the foolish mortals
But for the myriad-glittering stars;

Thousands of years apart
They're lonely, are they not?
I'd like to listen to their flares,
Be a being that for them cares,
And find a cure for their despairs.

Isn't that absurd?
A longing that this life couldn't approve.

Moissanite
greatsloth Oct 1
In her eyes I was glowing
She thought I was a rare find
A diamond in the rough—
No, I am moissanite.

I am never that grand,
Even a thousand painters
Couldn't paint me as they can't
Get inspired with my abstract self.

It would be better to wonder
From a far like looking at that cool car,
Let it not be known
That it is lacking in parts.
when someone's interested in you, yet you know that there's nothing about you that is interesting.

A Gaze Within
greatsloth Nov 29
I realized, it's not the universe
Or the microscopic world
That a Human should look into,
We shall seek our soul
Hidden to the void we own;
Navigating through experiences
That are like storms in the sea
And, probably, we would realize
That maybe the greatest treasure of all
Is us, ourselves.

In era next to this
greatsloth Sep 25
If ever my heart stops beating
Bring her, she's lovely,
My clock would once again start ticking
Like they're back in the 80s.

Even if the photograph of her fades
She's still my beautiful grace;
Pardon me, Lady Highness
I should brought you a bouquet of roses.

Once the time of us stops,
It's not the end, but only a minute pause;
It only meant the end of this host,
My head will continue rest unto your lap.

In an era next to this
I will still be your lover, I promise.

To you whom I have fallen,
My heart for you is hidden
For fear of being broken;
Smiling when the chance given
To see the gorgeous heaven
In your visage, I'm livened.

Fall Petal

Petal flowers dances with the autumn breeze,
Some fall down becoming earth's feast
Some do travel like a small butterfly
A lone traveller; a minute ruler of sky.

Which Will Remain
greatsloth Oct 28
On the Jester's neck was a blade
What will he do? Run and evade?
No, he made fun of its size:
This one wouldn't cut me into dice—
A funny way to the gates of paradise,
Yet a brilliant way to make one never fade.
Beauty, money, and fame will one day vanish—but never a funny story.

As the petals wilt
greatsloth Sep 21
As the petals wilt
The roots dreamed of different soil
More brown
More beautiful
A scene where its colors are proud
And the sunlight shine
More grand
More evergreen
If only it have hands and feet
Its petals wont wilt

If you found me gone
greatsloth Sep 23
If in my seat you found me gone
If in your texts I don't respond
I might be flying near the Sun or
Beyond the sea of countryland

Don't find me; I would say,
I am fine and happy this way
No need to remember my name
Nor even my disgraced face

Go on with your life, and
If in the future I was recognize
Don't say hi, just think—
Oh, he did not die?

that heart on the shelf
greatsloth Nov 26
Dust had long settled on that heart,
It barely works and full of rust,
Though it was only used once
After a misery it was
Thrown aside like a trash;
It is an antique with no value
And never would have one
No matter how much time passes—
A piece that would stay on the shelf
Until it crumble into dust.

my dog died
in my bed I lie
limbs unmoved
in a bind
the white ceilings
plays our last goodbye
why do these angels
only live a little time?

when the dreamer dies
greatsloth Dec 9
When the dream ends
And the dreamer dies
Would the world stop to mourn
Or would it continue its revolution;

With neither an impressive gun salute
Nor just a simple cry of sadness
How long until the warrior's song fade
Into the reality's cruel silence;

When the dreamer dies
He dreams of an eternal edifice.

a fun ride
greatsloth Nov 23
The sun's immolating heat
Couldn't reach me with this speed;
I drove faster than my problems' emergence
—I tasted the pleasure of smile after a while,
This moment, how I wish they would last for life,
Yet every asphalt road have an end,
Every machine have limited fuel,
And that much of speed is bound to ask for a break;
But though it ends
Let's still hope for another ride
That fate, to us, lends.

I, uncharacteristically, went out of the house and it was fun.
