Dear Uncle
Hamna May 2021
Dear Beloved Uncle,
Of all the smiles I’ve seen,
It was yours that was the most serene.
Of all the seas in the world,
I found yours the most unparalleled,
For your sea had mighty waves of cordiality.
Of nearly all the conversations in the world,
It was yours the most exemplary.
For I've heard only pristine and lily-white words from you.

Lost in the Wilderness
Hamna Apr 2021
I am lost
In the wilderness of my youth
I fight
with every ounce of my might
To keep the dark forest of desires away from haunting me
I try to flee
To the right path, I see
but thorny branches of nightmarish trees grab me so maliciously
And reach my heart
To pour some venom
I sink
Into a shuddering oblivion
The soulless devil invites me to his enmity
I refuse
As I hearken the sanity
My Lord had provided me
And I cling to it like ivy
Indeed, My Lord helped me to seek Him
Before the devil and the sinful hankerings sought me

Backbiting
Hamna Jun 2021
Do you know what is backbiting?
It is when submerged in the ocean,
the entire ocean will be cloaked by a vile smell.
And when reigned over the humans' hearts,
all of them will be fragmented.
Never see others deficiency,
Nor talk about their frailty.
And Say NO to
Backbiting.
Allah Almighty has stated in the Glorious Quran:
"And do not backbite one another. Would any one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would not tolerate it! "
[Kanz-ul-Īmān (Translation of Quran)] (Part 26, Sūraĥ Al-Ḥujurāt, verse 12)

Please don't reveal the faults of other people. Always protect their honor. Your honor shall be protected too!

Serendipity
Hamna May 2021
I inhale forgiveness.
And exhale all my vengeance.
Like taking a word from my right ear,
And throwing it out from the other
It hurts to say this:
Saying "Marhaba" to misfortune with warm hugs
Know why I do this?
I wait for serendipity
To surprise me with a confetti of lilies.
I'll fly with each petal...
But,
Why do I forget that there's always a purpose behind an accident?

The Indescribable
Hamna Apr 2021
O the One brighter than the brightest star!
O the One who talked to the moon above!
O the One whose presence bloomed all the flowers!
O the Beaut One!
O the Belovently Beloved One!
O, Mustafa!
You are the source of sparkle for our illuminating universe.
Your luminosity left the shimmering sea overjoyed.
Your benignity softened the hearts of hard-hearted.
Your nobility had left me breathless.
For how can I describe the indescribable?

The Spring Sun
Hamna Oct 2021
The brilliant spring sun,
Lends a sunshine to shadows,
And sweeps away dusk.
My first haiku. I tried to write a haiku before only to give up, thinking it's too hard. But here it is, although it's not so great.
I'd be grateful to get some feedback cz I'm not sure bout the 2nd line - "lends a sunshine"

Hamna Apr 2021
They asked, "why are you as silent as a stone?"
She replied, "why should I be voluble as the Mynah? My heart and tongue are deprived of goodness just like a desert, deprived of a sea.
Another voice said, "Ergo, redundant talk comes with unbearable guilt."
They asked again, " if so, why do you not speak the despairs you hide?"
She replied, " Because, the gift of patience usually reigns.
The Gift of Patience is indeed a very beautiful gift...

Today or Tomorrow
Hamna Jun 2021
Today,  I picked up flowers of life with glee

Tomorrow, the thorns of death shall pick me without any glee

Today I enjoyed the temporary pleasures of the world

Tomorrow, I shall dwell with the displeasures of death

The funeral ahead is declaring ‘O humans of this earth’
‘Follow my lead since I am your guide.’
Sayyidunā Abul-Ḥujjāj Šumālī رضي الله عنه narrates that the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said, “When the dead person is laid into the grave, the grave says to him, “May you be destroyed! Why did you forget me? Didn’t you know that I am the home of troubles and darkness? Why did you use to walk on me arrogantly?” If the deceased is pious, a voice from the unseen says, “Oh grave! He is one of those who always spread goodness and prevented evil” The grave says, “If it is so, I will become a garden for him.” The body of the person then becomes Nūr and his soul goes towards the court of Allāĥ Almighty” (Musnad-e-Abī Ya’lā, Ḥadīš 6835, V6, P67, Dār-ul-Kutub-ul-‘Ilmiyyaĥ,

Ode to the Weapon
Hamna Apr 2021
I'm no less than a lion-hearted soul
Who lives by high heroic skills,
Courageously fights off jackals,
And rescues victims with flawless charisma

But I ain't less than a dignified warrior
The most Blessed Teacher, an exemplary
Has taught me
About a weapon
Which has been the answer to infinite sorrows
dreamy desires and unthinkable perils
I've used it to cheer up saddened souls
And to relieve the unrelieved

It is my light
It is the weapon to divert from hapless ends
it is the key to unlock the gates of Mercy
It is otherwise known as Dua

Oh, Forgiveness
Hamna Apr 2021
Is there something that can lift my bitterness away?
Can it free me of my lingering wrath?
Or help my throbbing heart to laugh?
Or empty my mind of loathsome?
Evaporating the wholesome grief I had swallowed in my hippocampus.
Yet,
God has granted this gift to our hearts.
So,
Why don't we perceive life as bliss?
Oh, Flourishing Forgiveness!
How I longed to taste your fragrance!
To obscure my grief-stricken heart with your warm radiance.
Enter the teary eyes, O Forgiveness, with your gleaming light!
Heal the grudges that make our lives tight.
Help us flip the decrepit pages.
And abandon our grimaces.
‘Whoever severs ties with you, approach him with good conduct. Whoever deprives you, give to him, and whoever wrongs you, forgive him. ’ -Prophet Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم

Your Absence
Hamna Dec 2021
Your absence is choking me.
Making me voiceless.
But.
Drip.
Drip.
Splash!
Did you hear that?
Words of pain are bleeding from my plastered mouth.

Sentimentality.
Is no more than agony.

Thud!
Poignant promises shatter the floors.

lub
dub
My heartbeat rumbles your name.

Splatter.
Clatter!
My muffled cries are shedding salty tears,
Mercilessly tearing the tiles apart.

Swish...
The salt from my tears evaporate.

And so do you...
My longing for your presence is so great that it chokes me, I can only speak in gasps and muffled cries. I can only speak by pouring out blood mixed with words from my mouth. My tears have become too salty, too sour that they tear the floors. Please come to make my tears sweet again and stop my mouth from bleeding for my ink for you never dries. Never.

If pain was never felt
Hamna Jul 2021
Imagine if nobody felt pain?
Would any of us be left sane?
Why do I say so?
Because once upon a time,
There lived a stranger.
In order to quench his thirst,
He drank boiling water.
And to quench his hunger,
He lusciously chewed his mouth.
Once upon another time,
A little girl lived in a famine.
The night-snake came and bit her.
But unlike you, she didn't throb.
And deemed that he was simply playing
Both of those people plunged into pain.
Yet, they never felt pain.
Instead, they unknowingly became inhumane.
So thank God for having a conscious brain.
Is there such a thing called not feeling pain? Yes, unfortunately. People with the extremely rare disease known as Congenital insensitivity to pain and anhydrosis (****) causes people to go through this sort of torture. Unconsciously, they self-harm themselves which leads to a short life span.
The ability to feel pain is a blessing, indeed...

O slaves of Allah Almighty!
When you purify yourselves for Salah with Wudu,
Don't only pay heed to your covers.
Pay heed to the filth hidden deep,
Deep Inside of you.
For Allah, The King of all kings,
loves
purified hearts...
Wudu is the ritual washing to be performed in preparation for prayer and worship. When we take a shower or wash our faces, hands, feet, etc, we get externally cleaned. But don't forget to cleanse your internal selves...✨✨

Materialistic
Hamna May 2021
Free of fears, free of tears
I wander freely
And happily rejoice with materialistic things
Gleefully denying the fact
That death doesn't rejoice with me
"The one who loves his world harms his Hereafter, and the one who loves his Hereafter harms his world. Hence you prefer the immortal (Hereafter) to the mortal (world). "

Masked
Hamna May 2021
I can by my treason,
Masquerade as as an imperial friend.
My soul can be a supercilious peer,
Perceived like an exchequer.
Sometimes it happens that a person's soul can be their foe.
In reality, our nafs (hidden egos) are our most dangerous enemy...

Who am I to question?
Hamna Apr 2021
Who am I to question,
When hardships befall over me?
Let it be a vast circle of bulky mountains,
Ensnaring me from all sides.
If I fall into a threatening void,
A void that gnaws at my soul,
And is ravenous for my worn-out soul,
That helps me encounter more turbulences.

But who am I to question my tolerance of enduring a void that ravens for troubles for me?
When my Master, the Beloved of the Almighty,
Stated that Muslims are prepared to confront
Whatever situation they may face with their faith.

With my faith,
I can pull myself out of the void,
Shove off bulky mountains,
because
they ain't heavier than my
Iman.
‘Whatever difficulty reaches a Muslim, be it an illness, worry, sadness, pain,
distress, or even a ***** of a thorn, Allah Almighty makes it an
expiation for his sins’. (Sahih-ul-Bukhari, vol. 4, p. 3, Hadees 5641)

War Zones
Hamna Jun 2021
Our homes are war zomes.

Made with bricks of invidiousness.

Polished with the indignities.
Plastered by insincerities.

Smeared by censures.
Stained by the scandalizers.
And
       Shredded by the scandalmongers.
Sayyiduna Haatim Asam  (رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه) has said, ‘A malicious person
is not a religious person, a contemptuous person is not a genuine
worshipper, a backbiter is not at peace with himself and one who is
jealous is not supported.’ (Minhaj-ul-‘Aabideen, pp. 75)

Imam Shaafi’i (May Allah have mercy upon him) has said, "Malicious and jealous people get the least peace of heart in the world."

A smoked mirror and a bad heart are not respectable...
It's true to say that we have permitted evils to control our hearts. Outwardly, we are beautiful and caring. And inwardly, our hearts are filled with immense malice and hatred for others. Not only malice but also jealousy, backbiting, and lies. Because of these hidden feelings, our homes are a palace of never-ending disputes. We deceive and envy so many people. Please realize that life is too short for holding strong grudges against someone.
Forgive and forget :))

Great Reality
Hamna Apr 2021
As the Great Reality will approach.
Unstoppable pandemonium and hysteria
will swim everywhere,
as fast as energetic electrons pair and unpair.
Joy will turn into winter ashes.
Families will be deprived of camaraderie.
Their amity will be like that of fractious humans.
May Allah protect us from the awaiting doom of the Day of Judgement.

Rumi's Poem
Hamna Jun 2021
The sky was lit
by the splendor of the moon
So powerful
I fell to the ground
Your love
has made me sure
I am ready to forsake
this worldly life
and surrender
to the magnificence
of your Being

– Rumi, Translated by Fereydoun Kia
This is written by Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi or also known as Mevlana  (May Allah be pleased with him)

Am I?...
Hamna Apr 2021
Am I no longer fretful of my youth?
Do I have any antipathy of death?
The Beloved Rasool of Allah ( SAW) said, "Take advantage of five before five. Your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before your busy, your life before your death." - (Narrated by Ibn Abbas and reported by Al-Hakim)

Hamna May 2021
Do not tire me
By misreckoning my thoughts
Do not dishonor me
To think free
Unlike you
I fill myself
With flowing goodness
But
You are incapable of grasping it
So
Do not turn me into a goner
By the dark clouds of ignorance that
dwell inside you
Do not despise me
For being a sui generis
If you can’t fathom my benevolence
You are naïve
