If my presence,

Is like a cloud to your sky,

That dimmed your world.

I will walk away;

And rain on another.

Perhaps they would be waiting;

For the rainbow after the rain.

A piece inspired by Najwa Zebian's work
Yusof Asnan Oct 2017
Our life is like a fly,
All gathered for some junk,
Buzzing around in a crowd,
Never staying on one focus.

A little shake;
Everyone is in uproar,
Angrily circling around,
Coming from thousands of directions.

They fly away when scared away,
Only to sneak back when unseen,
Until one day when least expected,
Splat!

-HIY

She stayed,
Not because she's
strong.
Because she's
still scarred of
being left.

Care not of what she did,
She did of what she had to.
More of an eye for an eye;
And the cycle would go on.

Take the pain, of what she did.
Bury it deep and change your view.
Oh and FYI,
You'll learn to move on.

-HIY

You kept pushing me back,
Kept breaking me down,
Shattering me as soon as you see an opening,
Blocking off all possible approach.

It's not me who broke your trust,
It's not me who broke my words,
I've been only trying to fix what I didn't break,
So why am I to blame?

You said you need time,
But you've been wasting yours,
I'm not asking to forget,
I'm asking to accept,
and finally move on

You might think that its better to handle it alone,
without burdening people of your own,
But please don't forget,
you also deserve some happiness that I'm helping you to get.

Like the sun,
her beauty
surpassed her
even at her
leaving.
Always giving
light to others,
For she is kind.
And in her
arrival, She
Brightens up
someone's day.
I thought I was
helping the sun
find out her
beauty,
Turns out, I'm
mesmerised by her wisdom.

Like a bird whose wings are broken,
You are the one that couldn't follow the motion.
You can't fly like the others,
Nor you can blend in with their feathers.

Some part of you accepted that you can't fly,
That you like it down here ; being different.
But at times you just wondered why,
What is it about you that made you insignificant.

Trusting her with a book of spells,
With all the knowledge of destruction for yourself,
Teaching her each and every incantation,
Letting her be to practice it all.
Even if there's no certainty that she won't use it on you,
But you are willing to bear the pain if that is what she wants,
Because you know you are willing to give your entire soul to her.

Now that's a great sacrifice for someone.
To be able to give your all to the person you truly care.

Our body-
Is like a bunch of cigarettes;
With the filters on our fingertips.
You might think its gonna start at the ends.
Truth is,
It's gonna start from the inside.
And the fire is lit from your heart.

Welcome to the show,

You have no right for a question,

All you can do is to follow.

Money is your priority,

You must not get yourself broke,

Medias are your examples,

Be whatever they have shown you to be.

You must follow your cycle,

To leave behind everything you gain,

For someone esle to own.

If you ever had a second thoughts,

Alcohol is your answer,

If that doesn't shut those thoughts,

Blast your ears with music till you can hear no more.

-HIY

I may have all the wires and fuses to make you explode,

But he will forever hold the detonator and take you anytime he want to.

You began to wonder,
If it is real,
If your heart is beating right,
Whether it is really what you feel.

Somewhere between thoughts,
You knew exactly what it is,
Your eyes saw it coming from a millennia away,
But your heart wants it as it is.

The cold, bitter truth,
Has never looked so sweet,
You can blame your hopes for that,
Because your dreams are something you cannot meet.

-HIY

You were known as a man of few words,

Yet you spoke of a thousand advice,

You held in all the pain,

So no one can hear your cries.

It's never my intention to argue with you,

I grew up knowing more of the ill toungue,

Been taught to detest;debate and prove myself right,

Since I was very young.

I wasn't there most of the time,

But don't mistook me for seeking freedom,

Such are not within my wish,

All that was so you can be there with them.

You left-

My dream is now broken.

Its all for the love,

That I might never have shown.

In my prayers and our memories,

Is where you stay,

Because Goodbye,

Is something I could never say.

Forgive me for not being able to be who you wished me to be.

I think, every person resembles like flowers,
Some are gloriously known and craved by many,
And some shy away in their nature,
But regardless, they have beauty in they own ways.

Some are so delicate; and so gentle,
While some grow thorns around them to protect themselves.

But as like flowers,
There's growth;
A vital point to which shapes it to how it can be,
And there's life;
As to which it fully blooms,
Either appreciated for its beauty or taken away for others perusals,
Lastly; There's wilting,
The crucial moment where the flower itself is cherished to its final petals,
Or left to rot when its beauty is ****** out from its veins.

I only wished to be a garden,
To the flowers that shed their own tears to water themselves,
To the flowers that grew sideways to get the sunlight,
To the flowers that just refused to show their beauty;
In the thought of being plucked,
I may not be a garden for all, but i will try to give out my soil to as much as there is out there.

Because like flowers, we need help.

The love of the dark,

The longing of the emptiness,

The sense of calmness in the sleepless nights,

Where else can I find such peace than seeing the coming.

Head sunk in thoughts,

To the paper beneath my fist,

With the smoke from the cigarette,

That would be what I write about.

I did not write to reach people,

But to step away from them,

Continuously struggling away from attachments,

Even if its the right one.

Anyone could be a hero,

Its the day by day action is my kryptonite,

Repeating the same routine,

That shall be the death of me.

A king rides his horse to the battlefield,

Leading a battle that he believed himself.

The knights surround their king,

In belief that they are willing to die for a better cause.

The soldiers march on the front line,

With believe that this victory would bring them back to their families.

Along ride the army of the kingdom,

With their own beliefs that brought them together.

Even in a dreadful event,

There is always something that would bind one to another.

Be it for different beliefs,

Someone is bound to strand by and fight with you.

Even if it's just for a moment,

They are there to help you win.

"The king has fallen"

A majestic castle,
A thousand arsenal,
For he just leaves it,
He leaves them all.

A mourning queen,
A king-to-be prince,
One betrothed princess,
One warrior princess,
One prince in the war front,
One prince in the castle fort,
And one prince in the study.
These are what left of the mighty king.

Tis not a story of war,
Tis not a story of romance,
But tis a story of a battle,
Of the mighty king himself,

The Phyton King,
Or so he was called,
Was no match with the Viper king,
And the Cobra king,
Kings that he called brothers,
Have poisoned him;
Slowly killing him.

His kingdom was never on the top,
But it was the most peacefull,
But his rival kings;
Were always trying to topple him.

They can full charge him from front,
Ambush him from the sides,
Sneak in from the back,
But he has never shaken.

For decades,
He stood strong,
He remain unscathed,
But years of defense has weaken him from inside,
He has only hold them in,
With no effort to call for aid.

And that was his killing,
Being silent,
And never fighting back.

-HIY
~ The king is my father, and I am the prince out in the front.
I was not there when he fell.
And I'll still not be there to take care of what's left
But I will keep fighting, as the war has not end.

She sits there on the ledge,
With her sanity on the edge,
For the hell that has been set upon her,
Only because she is like none other.

Her heart has been torn apart,
From her very soul,
Being tortured for so long that;
She forgot how to be whole.

The flames first came ever gently,
Only warming her heart,
But as fire's nature to burn,
It's only foolish to think that you won't get hurt.

The fire never stopped rising,
Burning everything that she knows about her past,
The ashes kept building around her
Changing herself to black to red to white ever so fast.

There is one spot that the fire doesn't burn,
And it is only at the ledge,
Others would see her as if she's suicidal,
When actually she's just saving herself.

Time passing, days closing,
Its that easy to be lost in thoughts.
Guilt crushing, my walls are tumbling,
Left with a bridge I dare not cross.

For a wallflower;
Like you,
Like me,
We don't always fit in.
In the madding crowd,
You'll somehow feel lonely.
Even when you have fun,
You'll start to worry;
Of the lurking darkness,
Always ready to jump on you,
Only waiting to pin you down.

With those fear in your eyes,
You made me believe,
I'm not alone.
Someone out there is also screaming,
Begging to be freed from sadness,
Wishing that the worry would stop,
And here I'm telling you,
You are no longer alone.

-HIY

Hey little flower,

How could you be so down?
Your petals are all wilted,
Your leaves are curling back to you.

Why did you let it be that way?
You know you can do better,
You deserved happiness even with yourself.

Thank you for showing me that it's possible to live again,
Without you, I wouldn't be here today,
So I'm returning the favor to you.

So hold on just a bit,
I'll help you get through with it,
I'll water you when you're down and take care of you myself.

Like a blade piercing her heart,
His word bleed of broken trusts,
For what they vowed of forever,
He left her when he was ever needed the most.

Rusty tongue seeks for forgiveness,
But the heart remembers the deep wound,
Of the cold steel that torn them both apart,
From the only one she holds dear.

-HIY

Her love was overwhelming,

Strong as the tide,

But fragile as the water surface,

Anything can break through.

Take that as not a chance,

As one might drown themselves.

You might lose yourself,

As you dive into her love deeper.

She will take your breath,

And she will give her all,

Give yourself more,

And her currents will pull you deeper.

Countless hours,
Sleepless nights,
He couldn't write any more.
As he opened a new page every time,
His thoughts got lost in the crisp air,
As nothing came out from his pen.
He kept thinking on,
When did he stop writing,
A moment of when it all start.
And then it hits,
It was always her,
She was always the poem.
Yusof Asnan Aug 2016
Of course I am afraid,
The thought of it trembles my already weakened knees,
I am not sure of which I am more afraid of,
The thought of me losing you,
Or the thought of him winning you.
Either way,
You'd never be mine.

Such beauty,
Such grace,
Following her around,
Supporting her back,
Pushing her forward when she is shoved back,
Blocking incoming hits when she is knocked down,
But she has not looked at you,
She would not look at you,
Because you're always at her back.
Once you are no longer supporting her,
And she would be cornered down,
Then she would see you,
But only as someone who let her down.

Her voice began as whispers to the people's soul,
And quickly grew to a crescendo of battle cry for the fighting spirits.
She raised her hands and say "We are not the ones who are weak today",
With thunder-like roar stood the soldiers of today.

Spears came down like rain to the battlefield,
With only shields on their arms as their salvation.
War horses came charging in the front line,
Breaking down all means of defense from the front.

Those spears are not spears,
But words that society has poured upon them,
Those horses are horses,
But judgmental peers pressured their very existence.

While she is just one person,
Just a little voice in the midst of the dying world,
"Live life as if it was your last" She chanted,
Was enough as an inspiration to keep on going,

He was never one with words,
He have those in his head,
But not in his voice.

He believed in waiting for the right moment,
And time will reveal it all,
Without ever changing what already is.

Another hero came rushing in,
Shaking her world,
And of what she knows.

He was there first,
But he was not the one to claim,
Years of effort has gone to the drain.

- HIY
Sometimes it doesn't matter if you were there for them first and that you were by their side the entire time.
A new hero will always come and change what you know about them, and as fast as waves that the new hero will be the one for them.

This world doesn't need bigger guns.
Worry less of the enemies in front,
As they too have families at their back.

For vengeance, for payback.

After so long.
It was different from before.
There was no rose garden to begin with,
but it was never this bad.

I've seen outside,
But I'm still glad that i woke up,
Something about now makes me feel more alive,
Because finally I'm not feeling sad.

It makes me wonder,
What did i actually left behind,
Was it a certain person or was it the season,
What did i actually had?

All she ever wanted was to be heard,
Not through her voice or speech,
But actually listen,
Of what she didn't say.

She's tired of people saying that its not real,
That its just her voices in her head,
She knows that in the back of her mind,
Those things are real,
And its been taking a toll on herself.

They're telling her that's not how she actually feel,
But they have never been hungry like her,
Starving for a peace of mind,
How her worries are actually hurting her.

Someone who has never seen her book;
Read her written pages,
Could not begin to imagine the horrors,
Where nightmare and realities are alike.

She sits there in the corner,
All torn and broken,
Afraid of who might come through the door,
Trembling to even the slightest sound,
Terrified of world behind the door.

She would stay wake,
Maybe days; perhaps weeks;
Might even get to months,
Worried that they would take her,
If she falls asleep.

A figure came running through the door on a silent night,
Saying that there's a way out,
While pointing at the windows,
He said jump,
He said now.

She ran crashing through the windows,
Falling through the 6 floors apartment,
Face first to the concrete,
Head smashed like a rotten fruit,
And that was the end of her.

With no more reason to go on,

I've just lost,

All the will to survive,

Since you've walk away,

Out of my life,

This is too much.

You've sworn,

That you'd never be gone,

You've crossed,

All the trust that I have,

I couldn't see a day,

In my life,

Without your touch.

Just wait where you stand,

Don't you wanna see what I've planned?

Even if it's just a dream,
I wouldn't even try to wake up,

Tiddy tuddy tuddy thud.
That's how the egos drop,
Some lift it high above their head,
Some just put it in their name tag:
And wear it.

Initially its a boost of confidence,
And it grows warmer in their head,
Then it became a source of power;
Generating their mind,
But they don't realise it.

All those tacky wacky silly studs,
Not knowing they're way over their heads,
Chewing something they can't swallow;
And choked themselves;
Of their own ego

Whole time screamin',
Trying hard to stop believin',

Clenched a fist in my hand,
So hard that I thought I'd grow wings,
Lot of pressure in my veins,

Took myself up in a pledge,
When the time that I'd go down,
I'd bring all that brought me down.

The wind does things differently,
It patiently rubs off the sand castle's wall,
Slowly approaching it without intent to break.

Time was his friend,
He would give up his life time to enter the castle,
Showing only warmth as his effort to let her open up.

But the wave is different,
It would just come crashing on the walls,
Immediately breaking down the walls.

Time was never an issue,
He would do everything now while he can,
Shaking her world to show her the real world.

The beach knew how the wind loves the sand castle,
But the beach also know which one the sand castle will fall to,
I guess we all know how the wave will always win.

It may not be easy for everyone to get the one they want, especially when you've just dedicate your entire life for that one. It doesn't matter how many times or how long you have been holding your hands above her head from the rain, someone can easily come in with an umbrella and protect her entirely.

Head down looking at the strings that she plucked on her guitar,

Hair just short above the collar of her shirt,

Mouthing to every piece that she's playing,

Nodding to every notes that she pressed,

It's hard not to fall to that sight.

But one must remember the danger of falling,

And denying it will only make it worse.

All that one can do is stay,

In what follows, at least that much is better for both of them.

Let them wound us till it looks furs covering our body of pride,

To bow down to the very same ground that they spit on,

A gentleman is a patience wolf,

When we gathered enough, we would hunt them down one by one,

When the time is right, we still feast like the beast we are.

With untold nights which her sleep was unaccounted for.
As her breathing is the only thing alive about her.
Where everything else about her is simply dead.
Lays under the moonlight on her bedroom.
Forced nocturnally to repeat.

None knows of her horror,
As she refused to succumb anybody else to it.
Till her fragile soul could take not another single thread of pain.
And she would then die.
Every night. Every single night.

Come dawn she would rise,
Back from the dead;
From the cold darkness of she would caved herself into.
And that is how she keep fighting.
Surviving day by day with no improvements.

A woman worth the respect;
The appreciation;
And the great length to be with her.
And one should never stop her from herself.
That is how one should help.
