Thief
Cynthia Jun 2017
Unexpectedly, like a thief in the night
Depression will come
Anxiety
Anger
Despair will introduce itself
threaten existence,
testing
Faith,
Assaulting the most precious possessions
Leaving behind bitterness
footprints
in the coldest nights

But none define whose you are

Don’t fight alone.....

Escape
Cynthia Aug 2018
You dig a hole in the ground
You keep digging deep down
So the echo won’t slip
because your goal is to scream
Scream loud
to ease the pain inside

The dirt on your hands
is the hurt, the pain
You’ve been carrying around
Somehow you kept holding on
now freedom is what you seek

Fading memories is your dream
But what happens after you scream?

You have been carrying this weight
on your feet
feeling the heat
Blood flowing through your veins

Love turned into hate & trust into fear
So after all are you really at PEACE?

Then…
The battle with your mind begins
Because digging is no longer your escape
Your own fear has captured you in a cage

So you write it down on paper
Not in pencil but in pen
Because there are no mistakes
That can be erased
What’s done is done
And your shame cannot be wiped away

Once again you fight in the flesh
all you want is peace
And a resting place
Yet you seek no one but yourself.
Have no fear for He is with you
Seek Jesus let him be your escape
The one who fulfills that empty SPACE!

I can feel the breeze touching my face
Falling down on my toes,
as I stand outside the door
Waiting for you to let me in,
So I can share with you all our goals and dreams
As I stand here
I yearned to tell you everything can be done
Only if you believe
Will you let me in?

Sincerely,

Eraser
Cynthia May 2014
My one on one time begins as soon as I pick up this pencil
Writing to release these contemplations
The lead takes me to a process of distillation
Being careful not to run out from this eraser
Our everyday mistakes can be related to an eraser
Once you run out from your eraser you cannot wipe away any errors
So you carefully choose and think wisely
Being mindful of the insufficiency and blackness of the eraser
No matter how many times you erase
there will always be a trail of black spots left behind
Live life as if you were running out from your own eraser
That way you pursue perfection and not mistakes
Don't be the eraser that runs out quicker than the lead

Abandoned
Cynthia May 2014
For so long I've waited for you to notice me.
Your hair has turned gray from the stress,
lost hope is marked on your face.
I wonder if deception or courage is to blame.

The missed train
the last stop—the getaway—

Every run reflecting your cowardliness
How dare you abandon me in this hollow place,
holding the key of faith and opportunities.

The moon reads the abstract of our past
Always refining our path
The stars are the editors of our lives
Always stirring
The breeze sensitizes our memory
Upon the gleaming of the night sky
We journey along the memories of time
Until each star slowly disappears
Without a trace.

Brick Walls
Cynthia Jun 2014
It is heavy and hard
to see past these four walls.
Desperately desiring to break out,
Because something always awaits on the other side.
I hate this place,
I want to get out
but doubt is standing right in front of me
What will I face?
Will I be content with myself
for getting OUT and exploring
what I never had?
But always wanted to accomplish?
Or will I be upset,
As usual my expectations were Too HIGH.
Every thought ***** all my hope,
I see broken dreams scatter on the floor
as if the pieces are too heavy
unworthy to be put back together
but I CAN NOT give up,
I AM NOT giving up,
I know there is much more to life
then these walls
Please help me,
Get me Out,
Tare down these walls!

Walking thousands of steps
Measuring footprints left behind
Stumbling blocks
Analyzing
Walking through slippery roads
Dead ends
Ascending mountains
Descending
Facing ephemeral seasons
Running away

The wind
The worst of all facing storms
a hurricane
mind-like-storm
Through the journey
Remember that no waves can ever drown you
Find rest in the secret place, Embrace.

Forgotten?
Cynthia Jul 2014
I don't have the necessary words to get your attention
I can't find the shortest way to talk to you
I feel unspoken, unwise, hidden and forgotten
I find myself walking through a hallway; doors are all open
I ask myself, "Which door 'till I finally get to you,"
One door leads me to another
I'm searching for the door that will lead me directly to you
Once I find it I hope you'll be there.

Rose
Cynthia Feb 2018
A rose is active in the storm,
Its smell is an unexplainable redolence
It thrives to flourish.

A rose will wither away
inside a crystal vase or on firm ground.
A liquid substance is necessary to live and to rise,
just like He rose.

I wish to know the first time you blushed.
I wish I were there to pick you up when you fell as a child for the first time, and leaves fell to the ground.
I wish I were there the moment petals where stripped away from your body.

I wish to see you speak with radiant tenderness.
Your words and syllabus pierced through doors,
doors that were permanently locked in the heart of stone.

Meanwhile, I am just an ovule wishing to respond in a corollary way that slowly grows in a dark world
but like you rose
I will rise.

Surrounded by mistakes & regrets?
Labels don't define you
Are you running this race
Fighting demons inside your head?
I don't think I am nonchalant
If I don't scream at the top of my lungs;
I am alive, but death on the inside
Life is like a treasure chest
Full of gold, silver, trophies, souvenirs,
Miscellaneous items that at times mean nothing but an attachment of challenges and accomplishments; yet none define who you truly are on the inside.

No Limits
Cynthia Apr 2014
We are more than we know, we are strong!
Like the ocean current pulling you
Slowly asking you to follow the sea
In deep waters where many have gone
unable to swim but learning to float

Your mind is on trial
Your limits are your death and survival
Don’t stop you are strong
Cross the ocean and you will find there are no limits
like a mind-your mind-to be found

Once you cross this expanding sea
You will know what awaits
Remember it’s just your own self-esteem
Making you weak.

The Truth
Cynthia Jun 2014
Some keep me hidden
others bring me to the light,
I fight for justice and peace at mind.
Through sorrow and pain I am also found.
You say to others, “The Truth shall set you free,”
but all along you’ve kept Me locked in a cage.
Enslaved by your own lies,
They became your own refuge, your only escape.
On the other hand, I am certain, simple and gentle, never hurtful,
I fight for justice and peace at mind.
While some keep Me hidden and others bring Me to the light,
My name says it all, I am the Truth
My word will set the Way- to the Truth- in your Life.
Don’t hide me, bring me to the light.

Follow Your Dreams
Cynthia Apr 2014
Follow your dreams
Chase them
Grab them
Tight them into your heart
Wear your dream like a necklace
As a reminder of who you are & what you desire to do
Don’t let them slip away from your hands
Some dreams are just lost in a thought and undone
They slowly fade away like a dusty wind
But dreams are not meant to be that way
Dreams can become reality
Which only the strong and committed will pursue.
Don’t close your own doors,
go on and follow your dreams.
God will walk with you and when you lay down
He will watch over you.
When you wake up He will guide you.

and your hope will not be cut off."

Furiously, irritated, and brokenly,
I asked myself,
“When it comes to love,
why does it always fail me?
In my attempts, I’ve never succeeded.
What is it?
Am I not worth fighting for?”
Suddenly this voice replied,
“Be still, you don’t need a mouse trap to capture love,
Easy comes easily dies,
seek for true & everlasting love.”

Since then, I never asked further questions.

Surrealism
Cynthia Apr 2014
Memories remain, as if we knew the path to our destination
The road seemed clear
Yet stepping stones became stumbling blocks in every direction
The more we walked together
The more we found ourselves attached to this toxic air
Unable to breathe
Fear and doubt was inhaled
Leading to a dead end
Time passed by
and I found my way home
Me no longer walking through dead ends
But you?
Did you find your way back too?
or stayed stuck in that dead end?

Some memories remain
The rest slowly fading away

In the mist of this surreal air,
Staring at the blue and solid sky
I paint what I once felt was so real.

TO: All who toss & turn
FROM: Insomnia
DATE: 12/30/2013
SUBJECT: What crosses your mind?

Late at night, what crosses your mind?
As you lay down to rest
And your mind overflows in darkness

What thoughts or worries come through?
Does your heart rejoice with thankfulness?

Is damage the phrase that doesn't let you rest?
What is it that makes you toss and turn like a wave?
Do you think about what you left behind?

Late at night, what crosses your mind?
Do you worry about what's ahead?
Do you worry about what’s aside?
Do you have any regrets?

Perhaps, you have not realize your own pain
Which causes you to toss and turn like a wave

Next time you toss & turn
Don’t hesitate to ask yourself
Why?
What makes me toss & turn?
"If you haven't lost what you have embrace it."

Memories
Cynthia Apr 2014
In the beginning everything looked so clear, picture perfect
It all made sense, the reason why we met
"Forever" that was the key word
Holding on so tight that the next day,
I wanted to make sure I was still in the present
Although, sometimes I purposely appeared to haunt you
Yes, I feared that you would leave me behind
Like a wave I was tossed
The wind was slowly helping out
Quickly falling out of the boat, I could not sail anymore
I kept getting up but was slowly thrown down
Waves becoming a hurricane,
More and more approaching from left to right
I tried to be strong
But, furiously like a wave I was gone
I couldn’t keep up with you
I was tossed, forgotten and slowly became an "old memory"
Time, my worst enemy!

The Promise
Cynthia Apr 2014
Who I am became who I never wanted to be
I look to you because you are the perfect image of perfection
Someone I wish to be
As I get to know you
Your word says it all
I am loved-restored-renewed
Each morning as the sun rises so would I
A new beginning knowing that if I fall
I will get back up
This time without hesitating
Leaving possessions in the ground
That are heavy for my walk
The sky will always remind me of your creation
The rainbow the promise you made
Although I've been persecuted and plead guilty in cases
Through your blood I am innocent
All your promises remain
He said As long as you abide in Me, I will abide in you
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you

And so I continue to walk upon the waters
Keeping all Your promises.

The River of Life
Cynthia Apr 2014
I am lost in a dry land
without direction,
with no destination,
No one to come to my rescue
So far and distant,
a glimpse of You is what I crave
I have gone astray and is hard to seek Your face
My soul is downcast from fighting in the flesh
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You

I desperately thirst for the living water,
Pure, like the river in heaven
that floods from the throne of God bringing life

Day and night,
I longed to see Your face,
I cry out loud for Your embrace
So, when can I go and meet with You again?
My soul thirsts for a glimpse of the living God.

Redemption
Cynthia Mar 2015
As i stand at midnight cold and shivering from the rain,
Thinking of the feeling of loneliness and an empty heart, pondering why my happiness went away.
I remember the decisions that brought me here.
I remember what the world offered me.
Yes, i was happy, but with an empty heart.
As i stand at midnight, i remember my best friends: regret, defeat, loneliness, and no purpose.
Then one day You came into my life,
you asked me if i had pain,  if i was tired, if felt lonely!
Yes, i was tired,
Yes, i had pain,
Yes, i felt all alone.
Suddenly, i felt You carrying me in Your arms, healing every scar within me, and offering everlasting love.
I felt your presence,
I couldn't see You, but I knew
You were with me.
I heard You whisper, "I will never leave you, I paid the price for your happiness, for your pain, for your loneliness, come and drink from my water and you shall never thirst again. Love me as I loved you first."

A world so cold
caught in a thunderstorm
it's all we have ever known
pain and suffering
in a world so cold
heartaches and tears
scrolling down
on a radiating storm
furiously and incomprehensible
I used to see everything black and white,
then you woke me
I used to think everything was,
but then you woke me
I used to think of everything black,
but then
You saved me from — a constant battle in the storm.
