Kitbag of Words Jul 2023
becalm, bestill, bequiet…

yes, a singlet. a singular mannerism
the language permits to adjudicate
the required emphases of the
urgency of a command, plea, a begging
bequeathed bequest and a request in
combination, with one exhalation,
these portmanteau, allinone, smashgrab,
blending of two words, to advise herein,
that we bring our kitbagofwords of
poetry to ourselves in order to

becalm, bestill, bequiet our kindred souls…

It may look like a setup
No consent
No scheduling ahead of time
No time to prepare
Raindrops falling
          D
               O
                    W
                           N
From an aching roof
Disappointment will ponder
Through each wall
Can you stop the inevitable?
You can't.
You must wait for the rainstorm to be over.
And so you must be reminded,
"Above All Else, Guard Your Heart."
Seasons
If we lose heart, we have lost everything.

Be still and guard your heart.
Voices in my head
Beckoning on me to wed
The me I left and fled
Far east in tears
Till months turned to years
And outgrew my old wears

Be still my soul
To never look back, my goal
Till my life is whole
Shout all you want
To be one with you I can't
It's not easy but I have learnt
Jerielle Lasac Mar 2015
Whenever I feel the distance
In times my heart longs love a lot
Remind me to take a while to glance
To what matters most and to what this is about

Whenever my heart is searching
Let it be a time for me to seek You
Keep me from the things that are luring
Fix my eyes on what is true

Remind me we are not really apart
Whenever it feels like a hard pruning
May You keep me still, my Lord, and steady my heart
I trust in You that Yours is the best way of learning
Monique Pereda Nov 2014
Why do you always leave me?
Why not linger?
I have searched for you everywhere
I've tried a thousand ways just to see even a glimpse of you
Nights came when my desire for you grows ever stronger
My pillow had been wet of tears in your absence
And I have failed to see you

I looked for you in different people
Wondering if they could give me a clue of where you are
Sometimes you are in a form of child
A child born in a manger
A man hanging on a cross
In total silence
When bullets cannot be heard anymore
When people of total difference could finally be friends
In a sleeping baby
In the knowledge that your family is complete and safe
In the very eye of a storm
In the sound of a lullaby
In the arms of the one you love
Or in ending a relationship
Or even after a last breath is given

Your memory is always in my mind
I have faint images of you
And I do miss you a lot
You are a thought
A thought that ignites a yearning inside me
A yearning to find you
Always
I believe that I will never stop to look for you
And my days will be spent in constant search for you

Come to me
Stay by my bedside
Warm me in the cold of the night
Comfort me and give me hope
Hope that you will come
And stay longer

So many people in this world looks for you
Some people even fight for you
Yes...the world needs you
Just like the world needs food

Come to us
Stay by our homes
Warm us in the cold of the night
Comfort us and give us hope
Hope that you will come
And stay longer
