A hidden smile
Flo Sep 2015
A hidden smile
Covered by a sea of pain
Don't give up
One day your smile will emerge
From the ground
Enlightening other peoples faces once again
To all of you out there, who lost the urge to smile. Don't give up. Don't lose your smile.

German is a harsh language
An opinion that prevails
A strong rolled “R”
Noises, making you think
Something is stuck down your throat
Talking, in everlasting anger

Let me tell you something
Let me introduce you
To the beauty of the German language
To the words of “Wanderlust”, “Weltschmerz” or “Geborgenheit”
Many words so unique

Their meaning poetic
Using them yet so difficult
Listen to us closely and you will find out
German is not German
It comes in many forms
It varies by the region, state, country

Every form has its own character
Every accent has its own thrill
Determinable in the way it’s spoken
And sometimes hard to understand
Differences so great,
Yet compromised in a single tongue

Reconsider,
German is not as harsh as you think
No anger lies in our tone
Nothing is stuck down our throat
And spoken by the right person
It can be quite melodic
Trying to overcome the stereotypes...

Tolerance
Flo Oct 2015
How hard can be a way
Of peace and tolerance
How come I see every day
People, who take every chance
To find a reason to discriminate
Colour, religion or gender
Why does it have to be so much hate
Why can't we treat each other tender
People so narrow-minded
Continuing to stir up trouble
Throughout their hatred they've been blinded
Here we stand in front of rubble
Let's pick up the pieces and built up a society based on equality
This poem is meant to be a plea. A plea to everyone to try contributing to a society, where people can be equal. To go out and start making a difference. Everyone can contribute. I really hope that one day we can look over the boundaries such as religion, coulour, *** or ****** orientation and treat each other the way everyone deserves to be treated.

If I were to go into the void
Leaving everything behind
Will I find serenity?
Will there be peace?
Stripped of all weight
Freedom awaits
Lay me down to rest
In everlasting darkness
Once I take my final steps

Toy
I fell for love
For every honey-dripping word
Leaving your sweet lips

Lips red like cherries
Sweet and gentle upon touch
Taking me to the gates of paradise

I fell for your intimacy
For your fingers that run down my chest
For the warmth of your body on my own

My heartbeat jumps and raises
Stunned by a beautiful smile
Pounding against the merits of my chest

I took the bate, I called you my own
Mistaking my worth and significance
As I’m just a toy, next to your beloved
One of my older works. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Dear Politician
Flo Jul 2021
Dear politician,
Thanks for stopping by
And for all the cameras
You brought along
This is where my house once stood
Before it was put afloat
And washed away
By what was once a mere creek

I see you came prepared!
An umbrella, a rain jacket
And some rubber boots as well!
Your whole attire
Truly you’re one of us!

So come on board!
We’ll ship down the main road
Look at the destruction together
While you make an earnest face
So everyone will see
How truly devastated you are

You assure immediate help
Promise to tackle climate change too!
Action is what is required?
We’ve stood still for too long?
It must be...
A sudden change of mind I see!
After all your warnings:
Avoid rash decisions!
Remember there is no need to panic!
What do you mean?
Let’s change the subject?

Oh my!
What lovely rain boots you have!
I hope you did not forget
To bring a change of clothes
There is not much time. You’ll be late!
Be on your way!
To the fossil fuel committee meeting
You see,
Your lobbyist is already waiting
A cynical poem about politicians behaviour after the recent flooding in Germany

A players poem
Flo Oct 2015
I can't hide this drive
I just want to feel alive
Don't mean to hurt no one
But now that i have gone
You are in tears
Trust destroyed for years
Try to suppress this urge
My soul i try to purge
Failing every time
Here i sit and rhyme
Was raised this way
Unable of letting love stay
Moving from one to another
Any feeling of guilt i smother
Will i ever change?
I was debating on wheter to post this poem or not. This poem is not written on personal experience. I tried to see things on a players point of view. They often hurt people not because they want to but because they are unable of setteling down and accepting love. I write about things that I see are happening around me. I see people, who cheated or broke up but they did not necessarily mean to hurt people but just could not be satisfied with the love they had and thrived for more. It was a weird poem to write and it is not meant to protect those, who cheat and hurt people but to give people something to think about, what the reason might be why some individuals play and hurt others. Of course not everybody does this on accident. However I hope you still enjoy my poems and I was able to give you something to think about!

Hin und her in meinem Kopf
Verworrene Gefühle überall
Emotionales Chaos trifft es sehr
Warum ist Liebe gar so schwer?

Woran erkennt man Liebe?

Oder schwebt mein Herz in and'ren Welten?

The impatient Poet
Flo Jan 2016
It takes time to find the right words
Conceiving them so they may blossom
A construct of words, a piece of art
The perfectionist hidden inside a poets heart

Though impatient he is
Eager to find the most beautiful words
He's rushing it, he's writing too fast
A bad poem he wrote, he's seeing aghast

The impatient poet retries again
A simple relapse it won't happen once more
As he's rushing, he didn't learn from the past
Poetry needs time, he noticed at last
I tend to write too fast and too eager to find the right words and when writers block strucks I don't give myself enough time. What more is there to say...

Running out of Love
Flo Jan 2016
It's been three years
There is no doubt
Our stressed mind clears
Love is running out

I loved you dear
I really did
But now I fear
Come here and sit

Lets talk about how it was
And talk about what it will be
What has been the cause
That came between you and me

I can't be with you, I'm unable to stay
Pretending there's love is becoming too hard
Day by day
We're drifting apart

Now that you know
How I truly feel
We should let go
And let time pass to heal

I want to thank you
For all the love you gave
There is nothing that I could do
I will treasure this time and keep it safe

Flo Jan 2016
Isolated in a small mountain range
This is my hideout, my saving shore
This is where I grew up way before
Nothing here ever seems to change

Hills and valleys taking their turn
Meadows and creeks filling them out
A wonderful scenery there is no doubt
Laying in grass without concern

A small mountain range
Hidden inside the heart of Germany
A name most have never heard certainly
It's too little to be known, how strange

It's quite pretty here
A place where the air is still pure
Silence and nature, a stressed minds cure
A perfect place to disappear

Thinking about the first poems I wrote
Taking my notebook, on a sunny day
A solitude park
Located in a small town Illinois

Feeling the sun on my back
As I scribble the words for a new poem
The melody of birds singing
A small breeze upon my face

Back in the days
Where I was writing for myself
Where I was the only one reading
The visualization of my own thoughts

Poetry is unique
Everyone imagines words a different way
Never let anyone define your skills
Write out your heart, poetry is made for you

Flo Nov 2015
Back in the days I saw the kids
Playing outside
Enjoying their every moment
underneath the sun

We used to play in the dirt
No one cared how we looked
We ripped our jeans
No boundaries between us

We did not know the definition
Of colour, religion, race
We did not care
We were innocent

How I wish those times were back
The childish ignorance
No hate, judgement, discrimination
Some of us should take that as an example
Just another poem on tolerance. Children don't care about skin colour or other apearances. Sometimes even the youngest can teach us a lesson.

Emptiness
Flo Sep 2015
A hole inside my heart
Big; hollow; dark;
Has always been there
Never thought I should care

Covers up over time
Naive were the thoughts of mine
To think about a better place
With hope and love no pain and sorrows

Things I can not achieve
No matter how hard I try; imagine and believe
Still a hole inside my heart
Big, hollow and dark
Emptiness

We are trying to overcome
Our problems and flaws
We think they hold us strong within their claws
Wishing we could change ourselves
Knowing we will fail trying
This is my very first poem I've ever written. It also is one of my favorites. It can be interpretated in different ways. It is about trying to change the world for a better and seeing oneself failing in the process to do so. It is also about trying to change the very own personality to a better but finding oneself unable to do so and proceeding in falling into old habits that were thought to be overcome. Pain is playing an important role in this poem, which can sometimes knock you down. However even in the darkest moments one should not give up.
