live for the purpose
of achieving joy and happiness
for themself
and others in society?
Would every person
deal with the challenges
Destiny brings
in a joy-and-happiness-way
which optimises joy and happiness
for themself
and for others in society?

In an ideal
joy-and-happiness-society,
would work
be designed and organised
to be a joyful and happy activity?

Is there a basic joy
in experiencing
every experience
which I experience?
Is there joy in sights:
colour, shape, size, patterns?
Is there joy in sounds:
loud, soft, tone, pitch?
Is there joy in touch:
hard, soft, rough, smooth?
Is there joy in smell and taste:
salty, sweet, pungent, tangy?

I strive to experience
all the ways
my body
feels joy.

Is there joy when eating?
I strive to experience eating-joy!

Is there joy when having ***
with somebody I romantically-love?
I strive to experience romantic-***-joy!

Is there joy in exercising my muscles?
I strive to experience muscles-joy!

Is there joy in exercising my brain?
I strive to experience thinking-joy!

Is there joy in exercising my emotions?
I strive to experience feeling-joy!

I wonder
what are all the ways
I can experience
joy
using my body?

Is ‘justice’
the principles of a society
in which every person
is joyful and happy?

Is the challenge of living
to build a Kingdom of Heaven
here on Earth?
By striving to discover
in our current situation
opportunities for joy and happiness,
and striving to discover
opportunities to improve our current situation
to increase our joy and happiness?

When I think I 'know'
I stop asking questions,
I stop discovering
what an unknown Destiny
is bringing surprisingly
in the present-moment.

In my youth
when I was in school
I thought like everybody else
learning was done
by reading textbooks,
and I would have a successful life
if I read
lots of books;
but after many years of book-learning
‘knowledge’
I discovered that book-knowledge
did not enable me
to be joyful and happy;

I discovered that
to be joyful and happy
what I needed was
not knowledge
but wisdom
about how to be
joyful and happy;
and to achieve wisdom
I had to do philosophy:
thinking originally,
learning from my own experiences,
asking questions about
how to achieve my
unique joy and
unique happiness
in my unique situation
using my unique self.

Should I sell my subservience
of my mind, body and soul
to boss at work?

How much freedom
should my self retain
from my boss?

Is Justice
the principles
of how a society should function
to facilitate the joy and happiness
of every citizen?
In contrast,
has modern law
become the powerful and wealthy
imposing their
demands and expectations
on the rest of us?
Is law
not
the principles of Justice?
Is law
not
principles which guide the behaviour of every citizen
to facilitate the joy and happiness
of every citizen?

Should a leader
have the best ideas
and be able
to recognise the best ideas?

I search for happy people
and when I recognise
a joyful and happy person
I take clues
from how they are feeling, thinking and acting
to discover
how I can feel, think and act
to be optimally joyful and happy.

When I was at university
the standard used to judge
my essay
was “is it knowledgeable and sophisticated
in its use of concepts”,
and so I did my best
writing essays
to display my knowledge
of what authorities said
in a sophisticated way
like a DJ samples famous songs;

Now that I’m wiser
I realise
knowledgeable-sophistication
is not the wisdom
I need to achieve my joy and happiness,
and reading authoritative texts
and writing knowledgably-sophisticated essays
is a waste of my time,
and my time would be better spent
doing philosophy on my own experiences
to achieve the wisdom
I need to achieve my joy and happiness.

"Life has its ups and downs"
someone said, and I thought
up and down is a state of mind:
our minds make meanings
of an unknown Destiny
to decide
how happy or unhappy
we should be.
And happiness is complex:
we are happy
about various situations to different degrees,
while being unhappy
about various situations to different degrees.
And unhappiness doesn't necessarily mean 'down':
Is there an experience of joyful-unhappiness?:
when we decide to be unhappy about a situation
while joyfully striving to improve the situation
to increase our joy and happiness.

Is living
striving to discover
the answers
to the questions
in my mind
about how to achieve
joy and happiness
within an unknown Destiny?

If
I like ice-cream
and
All ice-creams are sweet,
Do I like sweets?

If
I like riding horses
and
All horses are animals,
Do I like riding animals?

If
I like driving cars
and
All cars are motor-vehicles,
Do I like driving motor-vehicles?

Can we joyful and happy
alone? And lonely?
If not,
are we social animals
evolved
to live in society with others?
If so,
how do we make our society
a joyful and happy experience
for everyone?

I am a lonely poet
so I write poetry
to relate to other poets.

a type of friendship?

Is there a friendship-joy
in reading other poets' poems
and responding to them?

Tweeting out a tune

Green, red, yellow and blue

Make me feel happy.

I will love myself
and I will love you
and then maybe
you will love me too.

Enjoying the experience
of loving
and being loved
is one of the privileges
of being alive.

Love
feels good;
Loving others
feels good;
Being loved by others
feels good.

Love
optimises my experience of being alive.

Love
makes me happy.

I seek Love-Happiness.

Wonderful You
are the best lady
in the world
for me
to be with.

I notice you,
You are conspicuous to me
as I think you are wonderful
like a rainbow in a clear blue summer sky.

Is joyful and happy
love
never brutal
and always kind?

My Destiny
only happens with me in it
because all my actions have consequences
which affect my joy and happiness.
So I can make my own luck
by choosing wise actions
which produce consequences
which bring me joy and happiness.

Quinine is used as medicine
to treat malaria in humans,
and quinine was originally derived
from a species of plant
named Cinchona;

I wonder
haw many new medicines
can be discovered
in plants, animals, insects, bacteria and
in all the species
of living-beings
on this wonderful Creation
we call Earth?

I just watched a news report:
A father and 3 year old daughter
lay dead
half-submerged in the Rio-Grande river
over which they tried to cross
from Mexico into USA,
fleeing from poverty
and violence
in their central American country of origin.

I was left wondering:
Is there something we can do
to relieve poverty
and achieve prosperity,
and stop violence
and achieve peace
in central American countries?

I am
gently munching
fine European chocolate
of a milk-coconut flavour:
I am feeling
the texture of coconut flakes
on my tongue and teeth,
I am tasting
the sweet milky chocolaty flavour
of the brown soft chocolate.

I am
Chocolate-Happy.

I am
gently munching
crunchy hazelnuts
which taste delicious
as they break apart on my teeth,
bits of hazelnut
passing over my tongue;
the hazelnuts are covered in chocolate
which melts on my  tongue
as I gently munch
and savour the taste of
sweet milky creamy brown chocolate.

I am
Chocolate-Happy.

A parent in a supermarket aisle
slaps her toddler hard and
the child screams in pain and shock.

A teenager walking along a busy street
drops the wrapper of his chocolate-bar
on the footpath.

A woman in a cinema-theatre
in the middle of the movie
calls on her mobile-phone
her son to tell him about the movie,
disturbing the other movie-watchers.

A man walking his dog along a street
takes his dog off the leash and
the dog barks aggressively and lunges
at frightened pedestrians.

I accept
my mistakes
as in the past;
and in the present-moment
I strive to improve my self
so I don’t repeat these mistakes
in the future.

Save your self
from your suffering
by seeking liberation and relief
through philosophy.

A father carries on his shoulders
his 3 year old son,
as the father walks waist deep in
monsoon floodwaters
seeking to escape the floods
and carry his child to safety.

Monsoon floods
happen every year in India
and every year people are in flood-distress.
I wonder
what is the solution to flood-distress?
Better infrastructure like concrete drains
linked to concrete waterways
linked to reservoirs
which save water for the dry season?
I wonder
who will build this infrastructure?
How will this infrastructure be built?
Who will pay for this infrastructure?
The development of poor nations
like India
is a mystery to me.
I wonder
how poor flood-prone villages in India
will develop the needed infrastructure
to prevent monsoon flooding?

The full moon
looks pretty
in the night sky
backgrounded by stars.

Claire is cleaning fragrant poo
off her baby's buttocks
and she feels
"this experience
fulfils my need to have children
and makes me happy
but it's work!"

Claire's husband arrives home
and she asks "How was your day dear?"
and he says "I've had a long hard day at work,
and I'm tired
please give me my my dinner."
He does not asks how her day went
and Claire feels
disappointed and unhappy
that her husband
thinks that she does not earn money
and therefore what she does is not work.

As Claire
puts a white plate of steaming steak, peas, carrots, potatoes
on the dining table for her husband
she says "Would you ask me how my day went?
Mothers work too."

When I was young
I assumed
and naively believed
every person was being good
and I lived in a 'society of angels':
people who were seeking my happiness
and their happiness
and the happiness of all people in society;

Then I experienced
people attempting to exercise power
over me
and I learned
society is currently organised
by people exercising power over people
even when it leads to people's unhappiness;

And I experienced
people attempting to exercise rule-based authority
over me,
people who expected my behaviour
to conform to rules
they create and enforce upon me,
and I learned
society is currently organised
by people enforcing rule-based authority over people
even when it leads to people's unhappiness;

I dream
of a happier society,
a society organised
by authorities and citizens
who are people seeking their own happiness
and the happiness of all people in society.

As I raise my morning coffee cup
my right bicep muscle flexes
and my right forearm muscles flex
and I am
enjoying
my muscles flexing;

I play
a music video
on my kitchen television
and dance
around my kitchen
flexing every muscle
in my body
and I am
experiencing
Muscle-Flexing-Joy.

I compose songs
which express how I live.
I compose melodies
which joyfully exercise the heart.
I compose rhythms
which move the heart to dance.

Living is like playing an instrument
and the instrument is me:
Soul, mind and body.
My soul wields my mind-body
to play notes (do activities)
which harmonise (are adaptive)
with the melodies (opportunities for joy and happiness)
I discover within Destiny.

When I was a youth
I thought I was right
and everyone else was wrong;
Now that I’m wiser
I give respect to each person’s
unique perspective
and allow them the freedom
to be who they are;
the question for me is
how do I cooperate
with a unique other
to facilitate each other’s
joy and happiness?

Words, words galore!
Words: I want more.
Words: I like how they sound.
Words: I like when I've found
the perfect word to express.

Everything my love wears
is beautiful
because it’s on her.

You have so many emotions
twinkling on your beautiful face
like stars in the night sky,
and I seek to explore
every single twinkling emotion
for the rest of my life.

Her voice
is the most beautiful
music
in the world.

Beautiful-music
which makes me feel
I would enjoy
and be happy
being in harmony
with her.

What my consciousness is
and how my consciousness comes to be
is a mystery
to me.
Do my emotions and thoughts
correlate with
my brain cells’ activity and formation?
When my emotions and thoughts change
does my brain change?

In what ways
do I make others
joyful and happy?

How much
do I make others
joyful and happy?

I have chosen a purpose
for living:
I am
striving to achieve
joy and happiness
in the present-moment,
for myself and others.

Do I need privacy
when my emotions and thoughts
are flowing
and I need to express my self
to my self
to become self-aware?
Yes I do need privacy!

In an ideal
joy-and-happiness-society
would every person
have sufficient resources
to enable their
optimal joy and happiness?
