My mother’s Son
uzzi obinna Jun 2023
The son of my mother seems not to talk to me.
I treat him like a best friend while he treats me as his enemy
Hopefully some day he’ll see I want the best for him
And I hope that one day he and I will make a better team.
My respect goes out to those who respects their family.
Only in such  a respect can people give birth to royalty.

We all must Pay
uzzi obinna May 2023
I think I hear the sound of rain again,
I think the storm will come and wash the pain,
Do you hear the devil call my name in vain?
He tried to live inside of me and my soul to gain
Where do I go from here?
Why does this remind me of desperate times?
Why don’t the people read between the lines?
Do you see drama but don’t see the signs?
The degradation and the steep decline?
Where do we go from here?
We live in crowds but live lonely lives,
Desperate daughters becoming broken wives,
The lies cut deeper than the split from butchers knives
False Memories stored in the dark archives
What do we want to hear?
IS it freedom is it fear?
Is it bravery when we don’t dare?
Is it boldness when we care?
Is it falsehood that we all wear?
Tell the devil I saw him in a man’s heart
Tell him reveal yourself while I play my part.
Tell the angels to tell me, where should I start?
Relay my Sos message to push the restart.
What do you think we fear?
There is no hand shake there are no friends,
We are all enemies plunging to the end,
We **** our neighbours children and still pretend
To love the children in the mines whose backs they bend
Where comes the diamonds you wear?
Yes, give it all away and come with me,
No you hate me so suddenly,
Giving all to the poor is what we call bravery,
No, now you hate me and call me enemy.
Who causes the others’ tears?
The chains around the neck of my ancestors brought them here,
The chains in my pocket has brought me here,
We both share the same tears.
And are separated from our loved ones here
The double standards in the wisdom of the greats
Create convincing books (hooks) and you are the bait
Men without honour, soul or faith
If you really doubt me ask the Gates.
The vaccinated African children can relate.
He is their knight in shinny armour,
He’s not the reason for the Capitol clamour,
He seems to be a man of valour
He is confused with nothing to stand for,
Just like others he’s rotten in his core,
Do you hear the sound of rain or should we ring the bell?
Do we eat, dance and drink and be the stories the future will tell?
The barbarism, bias, hatred, the universes’ cancerous cell
The religious and the atheist will all be put in one hell.
Their philanthropy is a two-edged sword
Right hand shake and the left to shade your blood
Materialism is their preachers’ god,
Be patient they say and wait upon the Lord;
Fight to the end or do not fight at all,
Be quiet and listen for the master’s call.
Your master or whose master’s call?
The luxury we enjoy causes another man’s pain
Men in suit and those in jeans are the same
lawmakers they are, so they claim
United Nations uniting in vain.
Yes abundant rain comes our way
No Noah’s ark cause we all must pay.

All the way back to my home
Were pink roses on every side:
You were there to hold my hand
Wasn't hard for you to decide.

What i was didnt matter,
That striking stare from your eyes:
Was a great thing to see,
Only i dont get to see it twice.

All the way back to my home,
You took my hand in yours:
When it got bright just after dark,
I stepped through the open door.

All the way back to my home,
We say our last goodbyes,
The smell of earth touched by rain,
And pink roses on every side.
Feeling really low, my friendship with this person is in a turbulence at the moment. She is ust special and i think i might loose her

Life of faith

Made the decision to cut certain ties,
when it became a must that I have to rise;
Now the dream's clearer and I will outshine,
yes the divine agenda in my master's design;

It's family first at every cost,
never making the same mistakes of those who lost;
some thought I could not make it so I paid them in full,
Now I am getting there so tell me who is the fool;

whether I live long or die at any time,
may my successes prove that I reached  my prime;
grow too big to associate with your people,
it's nothing but the start of a type of evil;

Never drag anyone with you when going up,
let them come running with you or else you drop;
its hard to balance it all in this world we live in,
with the hustling everyday you are lucky to be breathing;

your friends are too desperate and afraid to wait,
do not look up to me cos I can't dictate your fate;
I do what I can to disperse everything I have,
there are too many of you and I don't know who to starve;

They depend on me but I fail sometimes and fall real low cos I am just a man,
hell I don't know if the stop sign will be at my doorstep tomorrow and yes all I had was a plan:

And when some thought they had it all and rubbed it on my face,
I was laughed at and scorned, given everything short of a praise;
it didn't matter then and sure as hell don't matter after all these years'
except it only matters cos it sparked the fire that led me here;

it's very hard to love in a world full of fakes and hate,
keep a pure heart or else you break and seize to elevate;
Try not to Lord your opinion cos you don't know it all,
keep your heart open and know when to build a wall;

If we all contribute a little good we could fix this world(1),
but what is right or wrong when we all have different gods;
become great or die trying(2), leave no stone unturned,
resilience is one of the ways that success is earned;

better to try and fail than not to try at all,
start from something and despise nothing small,
and when it comes to deciding to cut ties,
may it be a decision made by a wise.

Another's Girl

Relationships might be broken,
Love may still remain,
When memories are beautiful,
Break-ups drive us insane;

When your angel is a beauty,
Your heart bleeds when they leave,
With eyes shut you will see them,
Even with yourheart being berieved;

Your love couldn't keep her,
Neither will your pain do
This woman is your jewel,
Your peace and angel too;

A rose with her petals,
And her thorns too,
A treasure you admire,
That comes back new;

Are you the reason she is broken,
And the reason she smiled too?
Did she plan it to be a one-off,
Were your feelings sincere and true?

Words can not describe it,
The hurt you feel inside,
And though it burns you deeply,
It cold be tough on her side;

She will always be your angel,
Your sun, moon and shine,
Your memories will b remebered,
Hopefully she'll be back sometime.
Wrote this as i walked on a street this morning. I was reading aloud while i walked. I guess neighbours and motorists must have thought that i have gone mad.

Living It
uzzi obinna Feb 2020
Where the whirl wind blows
There we will go,
Whether fast or slow,
We don't really know.

Shout out to those i was friends with,
Shout out to those i aint lost yet,
Shout out to those who adore me,
Shout out to those who ignore me;

I dont care if you're dead or you're living,
Be grateful if you're healthy and you're breathing,
Be careful of looks that are decieving,
Hold on to that which you believe in.

Tragically, factually, emphatically,
Some things had broken me,
But-
Magically, actually, empirically,
He came and he mended me,
God.

Do not let hate define you,
Nor let love enshrine you,
Or sweet words confine you,
"What is yours is mine too".

lets go get our things back,
Those things that were stolen when we were aimed at,
Do away with friends who say this and later say that,
Left us dry to die on busy train tracks.

And wisdom says
"utilise this pain to your benefit,
rule this world and not be a counterfeit,
Find a way to make the best of it,
Study it, practice it until you master it".

And vision says,
See its end before its beginning,
Whether they are deaf or listening,
The future is all you should be living in,
The stars above is where we are positioning.

And mission says,
Pack that, Back pack,
Ride fast, Fast track.
Did you miss that, train track,
Where your aim at, fight back.

Everyday i see the world differently,
Every knowledge keeps on changing me,
Socially, emotionally and even mentally,
Hopefully i'll be who am supposed to be.
Woke up this morning with this in my headand began writing randomly.
Just read through and edited.

The Universe Sings
uzzi obinna Jan 2020
Everytime it is morning,
We wake up to her demanding,
While we slept she was running,
With the awakened some.

Isn't that what we are hearing?
Her lovely voice keeps on calling,
It says son swim the ocean,
You must overcome.

Do you believe in you?
My aquainted friend.

No one else makes a difference,
Play attack or play defense,
Sleep back or you commence,
It depends on you.

You've got pain and I've got pain too,
Don't let your emotions control you,
And the shame deny you,
The thing you should do.

You should believe in you,
My aquainted friend.

Many stars will be rising,
Many stars will be watching,
Will you still be in hiding?
Its still up to you.

There is always the rejection,
That could influence your decision,
You might never see provision,
Hold that which is true.

I wish you beleived in you,
My aquainted friend.

The tides will keep rising,
Could be winning or be drowning,
Or on deck and keep dreaming,
I will live on.

Tomorrow it might be over,
You may never really discover,
Not today maybe never,
The rising sun.

You don't believe in you,
This is your end.
i really don't know how this poped into my head. for some reason i just wanted to write something different but no way. well, it is out here now.
Edited this as well.

We will
Fly back to love
A planet we belong to
If that will be enough

We will
Build a castle there
Make enough room for us
The way you would prefer

Those times
The beauty in your eyes
Cut through my soul
And gave me butterflies

Yes those times
We danced through the fire
The society set up
But we did not retire

So come
Put your palm in mine,
As we walk through the fields
That we built with time.
Edited this for a better read.

Rise and Shine

Consider it a blessing that you see the morning sun,
Although it might hurt, sting and burn,
Put on your running shoes and get set to run,
Go out to the fields and cultivate your corn;

Consider it a success that you hit a rock,
Those who sit and fold hands get hit by rocks,
Because you ran and hit a rock,
Is a clear sign that you are not stuck;

Running with tight shoes will definitely hurt,
Running without them will expose you to bruises and cuts,
In the end you will certainly find a worth,
For the pain endured, sacrifice and hurt

Consider it a blessing when you see the sunset,
It is a privilege for you to give yourself rest,
In whatever you may call your nest,
From the labour and toil of doing your best.

Sometimes I wonder if am an angel or another lousy fool,
And I wonder if am God's right hand or another one of his tools,
I once thought this world would end before I'll ever be a man,
Well here we are in this sick world but I guess it's his perfect plan;

When sudden daylight comes our way then we act like we've been bold,
We also forget how bad it was in the darkness and in the cold,
There's no shame in recalling our past while we focus far ahead,
Because then we are reminded to keep-on and not fall down instead;

So then I am not an angel and I am not a fool,
I'm only a wise man who likes to play it cool,
Although, this world may never end even now that I'm aman,
And no matter how sick this world may be, I'll always have a perfect plan.

So do your homework and do it right,
Because what is worth doing is worth doing right,
And unless you've got another perfect plan,
Don't waiver because you will and you can.

The 3rd party
uzzi obinna Jul 2018
Everytime we go back in time,
We hung out there,
Everytime we rise up on our feet,
We begin to fear,
There are things worth remembering
There are also things worth forgetting.

There are pictures of our past and we are trying hard to erase them,
There are pictures of the future and we try to ignore them,
There are wrongs that we can't undo,
But there are ways to make it through:

In the end will you accept if I handed you flowers,
In the end if we win or lose, the quest is ours,
In the end there is no life with no past and a future,
In the end only us can decide what we want on our picture;

So come with me and baby be mine,
So come with me to the end of time,
Where we'll both build a world,
Our world With no righteous god.
This is talking about how 3rd parties can be damaging to relationships. Inasmuch as it's important to speak to someone outside a relationship it's also important to do so wisely

PARADIGM
uzzi obinna Mar 2018
We write of the past and eternity,
We bridge the gap between gods and man,
We set the pace for the successful,
We work in ways almost impossible to decern;

Where is the love of my life?
Why is she hurting deeply?
Who has attacked her with bitterness and strife?
Who is it that will not let her be?

"We came eating and drinking,
You called us gluttons", he said;
"We also came fasting,
You said we have demons",he said

If only the joy of life could reside in your heart,
If only you could forget the pains of tomorrow,
If only your eyes are opened wide to see,
If only you can see that your words hurt more than an arrow;

We saw the light and brought it to you,
We broke the boundaries of time and space,
We lead the way for both man and spirits,
Yeah, We built pyramids to commune with outer space;

Love is everything but you make light of it,
Your voice is all i desire for my hurting heart to heal,
Your assurance of hope my spirit long desires;
A soft touch of comfort not a hand of steel;

We bring the angels to guide the departed,
We wipe the blood from their bullet wounds,
We give peace to those you have abused,
Yeah, we do so as your mortar resounds;

"I will not die today, in her last breath, she says
There lay she in her lovers arms,
I am coming with you, he says bleeding too,
I'll forever wish that i saved you from harm;

The angels stand and watch wearily,
What more can they do for you?
They have ministered unfailingly,
Endlessly watering i and you.

You can not be lonely where you go,
We shall walk on the streets of paradise,
Away from these bullets and guns,
To a place colored by the beauty in your eyes.

Who am I to fly you to the sun,
Where the stars sit and watch us burn?
Who am I to take you to the sea,
Where Leviathan is supremacy?

Where else can I make your home,
A place where angels and demons roam?
Where can we find a safe hole-
A place to hide your precious soul?

Sometimes we can hear the ocean calling,
Sometimes its a still small voice whispering,
The voice Dear VIRGINIA heard- yes the troll,
We'll forever miss her- oh bless her soul;

What will the departed say of u and I?
Will they receive us in the sky?
What will we see when we look the devil in the eye,
Will it be hate, compassion, remorse or a battle cry?

Shall we see the pentagram when the sun king is born?
Will there be hope for the broken and the torn?
Will we hold hands and dance in the vineyard of Jezebel?
The vineyard which Naboth refused to sell.

What if we just sit beneath the stars tonight,
And watch our enemies burn in their fight?
And ask the moon to shine very bright,
So that none would be out of sight?

The world is in so much terror,
Anguish of an unending labor,
Children of perdition is all she brings forth,
Many without substance, without worth:

Gather your friends as we cross the red sea,
Let all those who say we can't, stand and see;
The sun and her friends shall stand still,
While we fulfill our hearts utmost will.

beautiful songs
uzzi obinna Jan 2018
if only the world was as beautiful as the sound of these music,
oh, how peaceful we would be- just how lovely,
if only the expression of heart break in songs makes the pain easier,
singers won't take their own life- yes they'll become happy;

do they sing those words, screaming for help, for help from us?
all we do is dance, reminisce, criticize and fantasize for the satisfaction of our souls;
many have come, many have gone, their carcasses lying in graves,
yeah, some fans cry while others criticize as if mockery is their only goal;

if i was your lover, would you have died on me?
if i was your friend, could i have been of help?
maybe yes, maybe not or maybe you'll still think that dying would set you free;
or maybe yes, maybe not, maybe i would inspire you to make one more living step;

if only love could be as true as the love songs we hear,
we would be watching the sunset with the type of lovers we always desired;
if only, yes if only we had one more chance to make it right,
maybe we would go back to that high school boy or girl whose sincere love we defiled;

i wish that the world is as beautiful as these songs i hear,
i wish that we could all be happy and that our race wouldn't matter;
will there be a day when we will make living less complicated for one another?
so that in the end, when these songs play, our troubles would truly be over.
dedicated to all the wonderful singers and writers who took their on life and those who died of drug related circumstances. i love you all. only you understand your struggles. peace be upon you.

How do I get the ripples to move towards me?
How do I make the sunlight stay in the water?
I want the grasses to remain green  all through winter,
Just like I want your love for me to be forever;

how can I get the wind to blow in my direction?
How can I make the world  attain perfection?
I want to keep the snow from melting in summer,
Just like I want to have you with me forever;

How do you say "to love" in your language?
Will it describe my love up to average?
Yes, I am willing to go with you to wherever,
And promise to be with you until forever.

Stop standing behind me,
I know you are there,
Stop sitting by my bedside,
You can't cause me fear,
Stop lurking in the hall way,
Because i do not care,
Do not creep into my dreams,
Your presence i can not bear;

I see you in my mirror,
When you try to steal my soul,
I see you in my bath tub,
When my elimination is your goal,
You try to give me a message,
Of what your enemies stole,
Why try to hurt me,
In your demise i had no role;

Do not call my name,
I will not come,
Do not chase after me,
I will not run,
Do not afflict my soul,
I will not burn;
Do not persist anymore,
For i have won.

And not to feel alone,
But the pain that i feel,
Makes my spirit still;

There is a reason to cry,
But no reason to die,
My heart has grown cold,
But my love is not old;

As a quiet reply,
Is my many sighs,
No more trust in me,
Except the trust for me,

I will stay home,
Even if i am alone,
Because with you my baby,
Has always been home to me.

break the boundaries of time,

learn the knowledge of the old,
grasp the wisdom for tomorrow,
you will rule and conquer all,
and save thine self from sorrow;

hidden treasures can be unearthed,
secrets will not be hidden from you,
be true to the master of light,

will we find something that is familiar?
will we find a sign?
will we find moments that we can remember?

when our hope is lost,
will we find a way to make it work?
will we care how much it costs?
if we try maybe we'll find our luck.

we will see what others can't see,
just remember,
we can also be what others can't be,

HIS RETURN
uzzi obinna Jan 2017
Above the clouds the ocean flows,
where it goes no one knows,
Angels descending on cavalries,
souls ascending to the heavenlies;

"Away from us" the sinners cry,
"sing to us a lullaby",
"away with the counsel from the throne",
"we will live our lives on our own";

visit not the old cemetery,
the living has left such territory,
He now rides an elegant horse,
the earth trembles at his voice;

The broad way has led men to a place,
Of pain, rejection and disgrace,
the narrow way has paid after all,
happy are they who answered the masters call.

I was lost in the darkness,
Overwhelmed by sadness,
Life lost its meaning,
And became depressing;

I was a terrible fool,
To think the thoughts are cool,
That says only you,
Can make me whole and new,

But i found a way,
Grew stronger everyday,
The darkness is over,
I've found another lover.

I hope you find yourself in these things i write
I hope you also find the ease required to overcome your pain,
I hope you find in it- the strength with which to fight,
I hope you find also the hope that there are more in life to gain.

I know my words might remind you of your ups and downs,
The former being mostly comforting
The latter bringing to our faces a frown,
If you ask me, i will say pick that which is uplifting,

None of the things we write is a waste,
What matters to one might not matter to another,
But that is why we are writers,
To be there for the entire world like no other;

So my heart is open to you my dear friend,
I care about you and thats why i am here,
Remember i always write with you at heart,
Willing to share in the peace and burdens you bear.

Eat the womb of your daughters,
And drink the blood of your sons,
Drag your spouse into the woods,
And whip them with thorns;

Prepare the cauldron,
And play the requiem,
Be drunk thirsty fellows,
Gladly fill your cisterns,

We shall fill the streets tonight,
As the righteous falls,
Creep into their childrens bunks,
And wait for the master's call;

"Waaaaake uuuup, waaaaake uuuup",
Quietly we will whisper,
And afflict them with sorrow,
And sink them in despair",

Do not cry dear parents,
When your children go astray,
It is us who have done it,
Yes, we desire it this way,

We run the final lap,
So rejoice children of the sun,
It will be over soon,
Then will our battle be won.

Abide by the letters of jupitar,
Do not trespass,
Read out with boldness,

WRITERS

Writers are like gods,
While singers are angels;
Writers can be both,
If we fit in both angles;

Writers are creators
And the preservers of history,
Keeping accurate records,
From century to century;

Writers are prophets,
And oracles too,
We speak of the future,
Most of which comes through;

Writers are artists,
We create drawings in words,
And nothing's been more beautiful,
Than our gallery of words;

Writers are warriors
Winning wars with words-
Bullets and machine guns in our letters,
Have ended numerous discords;

Writers can be good lovers,
With strong emotions too,
A heart that is very fragile,
willing to share a love that's true.
I think i am becoming lazy though. Lol

A Cry For Remission
uzzi obinna Dec 2016
The quakes on sea beds roar out my name,
My head bow in the crowd in shame,
Insatiable hunger for fortune and fame,
Now desperate desires impossible to tame.

The universe is torn in two before ny eyes,
Imagination and thoughts all filled with lies,
Trusted friends becoming enemies in disguise,
Once a loving heart now becomes cold as ice;

Lord please forgive me cause satan lied,
Send down your angels let them be my guide,
Either heaven or hell has been difficult to decide,
Running around in shame but nowhere to hide;

My deepest confessions is honesty displayed,
I accept the freedom for which you paid,
Bleed upon my dying soul just as you said,
And i will become a child whose life's remade.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with fortune and fame. This poem might represent events any body's life.
- life for me is sacred. People are entitled to live their lives they want as long as it does not pose a threat to anothers life and it doesn't involve defrauding others of their earnings.

True Love Endures
uzzi obinna Dec 2016
Days come and days go,
They will always return,
This we know;

Nights come and nights go,
They will always go,
And light will show;

Flowers bloom as others whither,
But flowers will rise again,
No matter the weather;

Seasons come and seasons go,
Seasons come with their goodies too,
No need for woes;

Lovers come and lovers go,
True love will endure,
This we know.

Grow A Nerve
uzzi obinna Dec 2016
Many years have gone by,
Many more are yet to come,
Many places i have been,
None, i could call my home;

Many tears have been shed,
And so much pain have been felt,
Many have come and gone,
I do not know who i have left;

Many mistakes have been made,
Most of which have brought me here;
Many rights that i have done,
The journey has been worth the dare;

Many answers i tried to find,
So many things i don't understand,
Many things i've left behind,
Just to make a better stand;

Many people that i have hurt,
Many others have hurt me too,
But this is just a part of life ,
These are things we must go through;

Many reasons to have regrets,
And other reasons to rejoice,
Decisions were always mine to make,
I'as always entitled to a choice;

So many nights beneath the stars,
I could be like them- so bright so rear,
So many years watching the moon,
Men like me have gone up there;

my past is past forever now,
Here i am still standing here,
Watching the moon and stars,
So why should i shade a tear?

So many years are ahead of me,
Don't know how much of it i have,
My living is my greatest chance,
To do better and grow a nerve.
Life is the biggest opportunity we all have. Everyday we have is a day to begin doing things differently. A second ago could also be the past.

Mine Forever
uzzi obinna Dec 2016
Put a rose in my hair
And i will smile,
Leave a note at the bedside
Yea, do it with style;

Take my hand in yours
When you go for long walks,
Lets sit by the lake
As we watch the swimming ducks;

Let me see the sunset in your eyes,
And smell the perfume on your neck:
And when i fall asleep in your arms,
Leave on my lip nothing less than a peck;

I might not wake up to see you here,
Just leave with me a night to remember:
But if i do wake up still in your arms,
I will make you mine forever.

MY HEART IS MINE
uzzi obinna Dec 2016
We used to be the talk of the town,
Your heart was mine and mine yours,
But you turned around and broke my heart,

dreamt of red roses on my wedding gown,
Perfect moments on world-wide tours,
But all you did was tear me apart;

Many years have passed after that,
That little girl is all grown now,
My heart is fixed and certainly fine

So go find another girl for a fresh start,
I'm gone forever and that's a vow,
Keep your heart while i keep mine.

Another Chance

Your words were like a million needles piercing my skin,
My heart broke into a million pieces like glass droped from a mountain,
My tears flowed night and day like rivers rushing into a sea,
The heat in my brain every night burnt like desert fire in its fury,

I cried but only i heard me cry,
I hurt so badly and wished to die,
My dreams have lied to me again,
It showed me the joy but not the pain,
I became the only sad one in the crowd,
With a million painful thoughts sreaming out loud,

I no longer felt the honey on your lip,
But the knives that cut really deep,
Nor could i find the compassion that once resided on your face,
But the frown and desperation to bring me into a hurtful place,
Your affection for me that once overflowed,
Was nothing but resentment intentionally brewed.

Every night i keep wishing this is a dream,
And trying so hard not to scream,
I keep hoping there would be a chance,
That there will be a place for a little romance,
Or that you will come back to me,
And i'll do better for you and me.
The character represented here is just a work of fiction

DESERT WOES
uzzi obinna Dec 2016
An iron fist is dealt the middle east,
Her children are torn by the beast,
While nobles sit and feast;

Disaster has hit her really hard,
The outcome is very sad,
Nobles continue to deal the card;

The game is hard to understand,
You can't tell where her children stands,
If they are deserving of a tough hand;

Some say it is karma,
And once they slaughtered others,
But do they deserve this dharma;

Ashes and smoke of burning flesh fills the air,
Whatever their fault may be - this isnt fair,
Oh how she wishes the world will truely care;

Brace yourselves oh children of the east,
Within your walls are also ravenous beasts,
Who by your anguish have made accounts from which to feast;

So let me show you where you ought to begin,
Your politicians are the beasts within,
Undo with them and you'll begin to win;

Do not be decieved by their sad countenance on tv,
They do all that so that you wouldn't see,
Because when you see then you will be set free.

I might not be completely wrong or right,
But no one goes into anothers house and win a fight,
They must be let in before they can smite.

And external powers fueling this fight,
Remove your hands and do what's right
Aid the east into the peaceful light.

What if i told you,
That the reason why i date you,
Is to make poems of you?

What if i told you,
That i never truely loved you,
Rather i only needed you?

What if i told you,
I gain inspiration by being with you,
And by breaking up with you?

What if i told you,
I write of the things you do,
And the pains you put me through?

What if i told you,
I expect the heart break from losing you,
It helps me get a better point of view?

So forgive me for ever hurting you,
My poetry always comes before you,
Only her do I trust as really true.

Nigeria- An Afflicted Nation
uzzi obinna Dec 2016
The ashes of our loved ones are blown in the wind,
The blood of our siblings fill the streets,
Politicians we elected  rob us, with impunity,
Working tirelessly to reduce us to bits;

They **** our soldiers- our dearly beloved brothers,
Send them to a war which they themselves create,
They have underarmed the soldiers but arm the enemy,
Their callousness and negligence- we cannot underestimate;

Their is no one to speak for us- no one at all,
They sit in their noble seats lobbying for themselves,
They fill their homes with the resources of our people,
While these people are left with little to fend for themselves;

Our educational system has been brought to ruin,
Medical system is now in a deplorable state,
Fund looting is now the order of the day,
To impoverish my people even further is all they debate;

Our security operatives are those that **** us more,
Our hearts are always filled with fear when they come our way,
They maim and **** even when we protest for justice,
Who then should we run to when killers come our way?

The minority among us are disenfranchised,
Jobs belonging to our youths have been stolen away,
Those who create jobs for themseves earn too little to live by,
The pensions of pensioneers are hijacked day by day;

Our bills are on the increase while salaries remain the same,
The salaries of some are slashed day by day,
In the midst these difficulties is the firing of workers,
As wages become burdensome for companies to pay;

I pray that youths like me will open their eyes and see,
That all we have is ourselves not these enemies,
If this lesson is learnt we will quit fighting eachother,
And tolerate one another- finding ways to sustain peace;

Shall this oppression continue while we stand and watch?
No- we will rise and create a new era of representatives?
A people who will be elected from our very own,
People of our own generation to replace these theives.
This explains what Nigerians go through everyday in a nutshell.

To The Bereaved
uzzi obinna Nov 2016
Where was i dear friend when they took you?
Where was i? Where was i?
Where was i when they sounded the trumpet?
Where was i? Where was i?

How did they conquer you?
How did they? How did they?
How did they rise again?
How did they? How did they?

I sent them to the abyss?
Yes i did.
I locked them up in hades?
Thought i did.

Do not let them take you far,
Trace the sound of my cry.
Do not trust a thing they say,
Return next to me and lie.

We will watch the stars again,
We will, we will.
We will draw faces from the moon,
We will, we will.

How much have they asked to ransom you?
Tell me, tell me.
I will do all i can to get it through?
Certainly, certainly.

Beneath the stars i lie alone,
In the valley of sorrow;
So much pain within my bone,
You are nowhere to fill this hollow.

Is there a place where you will be waiting,
For me to come set you free?
Or should i just sit here and wait,
For you to come to me?

I will cry no more but sing songs of the victor,
Maybe shall your captives faint at the sound.
Or maybe the shackles on your limbs be broken,
And in the vision of my eyes shall you be found

I will hold on to the memories of our past,
I will, yes i will.
May your face and the laughter not fade fast,
Be still, yes be still.

She called out my name,
It sounded really loud
Like that of one in distress,
Screaming from a crowd;

Felt a cold chill
Moving on my skin;
I was home alone last night
Or where else could i have been?

So i turned on the light
To know who's in bed with me,
There she lay- a frozen corpse,
Staring back at me.

RIDING ON VICTORY'S HORSE
uzzi obinna Nov 2016
You want a good life but you remain the same,
Your wings are broken with only you to blame,
Do not let the light in you go dim,
Life is not as hard as it may seem

The heavens and the earth was made for you,
The dreams put inside of you can see you through,
So do not cry but do what angels do,
Picking up pieces and making them new;

There is a peaceful place in a strong man's heart,
There is always hope for the one who dares to start,
One day you will rise above this estate,
you will have your rightful place in due date,

Do not allow your emotions hold you down,
Get prepared to put on your wedding gown,
Sail in the boat of wisdom to the glorious future,
And taste only the wine of knowledge which is pure,

Dance in the night beneath the moon lit sky,
When the morning comes tomorrow you will fly,
And many will gather around to render applause,
To the champion who rides on victory's horse.
An encouragement to all

Do not take the pastures of our life away,
Come water the dying shrubs of our heart,
Let the creatures of our soul be strong to play,
Ignite within us the dark and lonely path,

Come and rebuild the forests of our skin,
Prevent the desert from taking over our peace,
Let your fury to destroy overlook our supposed sin,
For we are longing for a fountain's kiss.

Rejoice, rejoice my friends in the realm,
For our saviour has come to heal us all,
Our roots have touched his cloth's hem,
We have secured a future where none will fall,

The rivers of life have watered the forest floor,
Our green friends will surely rise again,
Our suppressed voices shall once again roar,
As we celebrate the final end of our pain.
I posted this on my facebook page like i do other write ups of mine. However, its got different title on facebook. I felt this title best describes the content.

LEGACY
uzzi obinna Nov 2016
Where will i be when this is over,
Will i be the whistle in the wind,
Or will i be the sound in the waves.

Will i become a supernova,
the scent in flowers recently trimmed?
Or just a carcass only found in graves?

Will i be the story parents will tell their children,
The memories which will make my friends sigh,
Or will i be the hurt in my lovers heart?

Will i be the soul on its way to heaven,
The subject of advice given to passers by,
Or the poetry written in parts?

Maybe i will be the wisdom taught by scholars,
The ray of hope for the oppressed,
Or the image of morality in spirituality;

I could be the mind healing sermons from preachers,
The light in the hearts of the depressed,
Or the restoration of love to humanity;

I hope that my name lives on,
I hope that it'll be said of me,
See all the good he has done;

I hope to be the reason why visionaries run,
I hope that a memorial day be set aside for me,
For my legacies which lives through ages to come.

Spread your wings tonight,
And get ready to fly,
There is a life changing light,
Up there in the sky;

If you choose to stay back,
Definitely not with me,
No one stays in the dark,
And end up being free;

No matter how much the tears,
It won't be enough to wash your pain,
So join me lets overcome our fears,
There is so much out there to gain;

Remember this as we fly,
Make up your mind to see the light,
All you have to do is aim high,
Sucess is the only thing that's right;

So if you agree to fly with me,
We'll encourage eachother all the way,
Until we get there eventually,
And live happier lives every other day.

I sit at the pool of Bethesda waiting for my turn to come,
I've sat by this pool for 38 years witnessing the healing of some,
O Bethesda , where was i when angels came to stir thine water?
I was here nights and days waiting earnestly just like the others,
I waited yes i waited,
For 38years i waited
The angels came and stirred,
Yes they stirred and others entered
But all i've done is wait, wait and wait.
Whatever is worth doing is worth doing immediately. Its good to be patient by do not confuse patients with refusing to dare. We can do what others are capable of doing.

Love don't bring me down again,
Love don't bring me down in pain,
Love don't steal my joy this way,
Love don't steal my friends away;

I don't want to play this game,
I don't want to end in shame,
Our dancing floor is dark,
You and i is all it lacks;

Do not take away my breath,
Do not run away just yet,
The sun's burning up our past,
I thought you and i would last;

Come and hold me now- its cold,
My heart's lost its own stronghold,
I bow down my head in disdain,
I don't feel the same again;

My sorrow overflows the banks,
Come and filll this lengthy blanks,
I don't sleep at all at night,
I don't wish for the morning lights;

Love please tell me how i sinned,
I am blown away by wind,
All our loving words in vain,
Now there is nothing left to gain;

Love don't drag me down again,
Love don't make me go insane,
Love don't steal my joy- i pray,
Love i've found a peace my way.
For the broken hearted, find a way

Oh brother,
Don't forget i'm in your heart,
And when the time is right,
I will take over your soul;

Oh mother,
There is an electric within my heart,
I have done all to fight,
They want to have my soul;

Oh father,
See how my flesh is torn apart,
And when it becomes night
My heart they fill with coal;

Oh sister,
Pray for my stolen heart,
Although i try to do things right,
I have lost my self-control;

Oh sceva,
Tell your sons to all depart,
they should not try to win this fight,
Because i will rip them whole.

Honest Question
uzzi obinna Nov 2016
If the earth becomes paradise,
Of what use will heaven be to us,
And if the earth is a bad place,
Why then was it given to us?

If then i was created with a choice,
I can't remember choosing the earth.
Why will anyone ignore the beauty,
For a place where all efforts end in death?

If it was Adam's sin that brought pain,
Why wasn't i given the same opportunity?
He was born into a world of comfort,
I am born into a world engulfed in immorarity.

He didnt have to struggle with his flesh,
I struggle with my flesh daily.
If he wasn't forgiven and reinstated,
How then am i sure of mercy?

I have never seen the other planets,
I only know what the scientists say;
If truely there was some other place,
Humans would go there long before today;

If there is a place called hell,
Why aren't the "devils" already there?
What logic is there in keeping them with us?
Now they create burdens too hard to bear.

If we are allowed to make the earth paradise,
Of what use will heaven be to us?
If sin is the reason why we won't go to heaven,
What will it take God to free us of its curse?

If i didn't have a choice of where to be born,
I shouldn't choose where to spend eternity,
Being born with sin wasn't our choice to make,
Therefore it shouldn't be the problem of humanity.

Who shall deliver me from egypt?
Who shall save me from pharoahs whip?
My heart have become a hollow pit,
And my sorrow has grown too dip.

I quench my thirst with my tears,
Even slaves take turns to ******* blood,
My nights are haunted by innumerable fears,
My knees are weakend by heated rods.

Who shall fight for me in this war?
My mind is distorted and my spirit is torn.
Who shall provide the balm for my sores?
Is there a balm of Gilead in my creators son?

Tell my oppressor that "nights always end".
Tell him that my joy comes in the morning.
Although, this pain is difficult to comprehend,
So shall my rise happen without warning.
