Give Me a Place to Rest
Kayla Gallant Jul 2022
Hold me close to your beating heart
So I can learn
How it feels to be alive again
I’ve been feeling quite hollow lately.
Kayla Gallant Jul 2022
I struggle to convey the pulsing fear
that this life of mine may end
before I get the chance to flee to my destiny
Not much of a poem I suppose, just how I’ve been feeling as of lately

Wispy Willow
Kayla Gallant Jun 2022
The wispy willow tree sways
The wind is it’s master
Wherever the wind goes the willow shall follow
Sometimes the wind is a little too harsh
Causing the willows frail branches to snap
Sometimes the wind is soft and tender
Causing the willows leaves to swoon and sway
There is telling how the wind may behave
The willow braces it’s roots deep in the soil
It must stay where it was planted
The wind will have its way
The willow has no say

Glass Fortress
Kayla Gallant Jun 2022
We were placed inside a glass fortress
Dull knives were all we were given
Expected to know how to survive
We attempted to carve our way out
To leave a mark of any kind
Desperation flooded our insides
What will we do if we never make it
How will the world ever know of our existence
Right above our righteous heads
The sun flooded in
Yet we remained oblivious
To warmth it gave
The light it provided
The life it created
The sun was above us all along
The fortress was never sealed
We were far too busy trying to leave our mark
We could never see
There was an escape all along
Into reality

Misplaced
Kayla Gallant Aug 2021
Where are you hiding
I’ve searched high and low
In the mirror
And in my soul
To no avail
I somehow managed
To misplace myself
Rough poem about how I've been feeling lately.

Greed
Kayla Gallant Aug 2020
Fill your body to the brim
With everything that feels good
Food
***
Money
Drugs
It never ends
More and more
Never satisfied
The day will come
When your vessel can take no more
The seams will tear
You shall burst
Greedy little beggar
Open your eyes
If you still can
Look around and see
There is more to life
Than having everything
Success to the Excess

The Search for Wildflowers
Kayla Gallant Apr 2020
Run far away
Until the city lights fade
And the stars grow bright
Run until you hear crickets
Instead of sirens
Until your soles bleed
And your soul screams
Run until you collapse in the tall grass
Until you find your home
Here among the wildflowers
Wildflowers 🌻

Ignorance is Bliss
Kayla Gallant Apr 2020
Rumble and roar
Like a lion in a scuffle
You see they just found out
That they were caged animals
When they thought they were free
The knowledge of entrapment
Lead them to insanity
We were never free.

Madness

Seize the pain
Grasp reality
Escape madness
Impossible task
Infinitely insane

Brainwashed
Kayla Gallant Sep 2019
Lie across
Train tracks
Without fear
Call it insanity
Yet you stand
Willingly
Hand on chest
Pledging your life
To the men
Who dictate you
mindless sheep

Brain Stew
Kayla Gallant Sep 2019
Minds melting
Into a mushy stew
Becoming indistinguishable
media softens the brain

Time
Kayla Gallant Sep 2019
Immersed in sorrow
No longer alone
Yet the twinge
Still remains
The hole inside
Burns too deep
Nothing can fill it
But time itself
the deepest wounds take years to heal

Ruined Youth
Kayla Gallant Sep 2019
Filthy lies

Spread across

Blank canvases

Young minds

Spoiled

Like milk

Left out in the sun
warped young minds becoming who the world told them to be, So much wasted potential.

Break Me
Kayla Gallant Sep 2019
Tear me apart

Smash me to pieces

Release the tension

You know you have the will

Inside your swollen fist

You hold my destiny
only the broken know how to survive

Uncaged Mind
Kayla Gallant Jun 2019
I scream over the banging and pounding
I doubt you can hear me
Throat raw and red with anger
I throw my words at you like knives
But they never reach you
For my tongue is foreign
Like a wild animal confined to a cage
I wish I could break free
To snap your neck
And make you see
This world is not as it seems
These people are not real
Society is too far gone ❤️

Blind
Kayla Gallant Jun 2019
I am sightless
In a sea of light
Blinded by my own insanity
I can no longer see through the madness  ❤️
And for that I am glad.

Sunday Morning
Kayla Gallant Jun 2019
It’s a hazel daze
Your eyes so close to mine
As we stretch and groan
On this lazy Sunday morn
Delusional smiles crease our faces
Kisses planted on foreheads
Soft and tender
Like a thornless rose
Intertwined like vines
Crawling up a terrace
In this moment
I wish to stay
In the arms of my love
Where I know I am safe
My love keeps me sane ❤️

Leech
Kayla Gallant Jun 2019
Making new things old
Is what I do
I drain the life
Out of everything
Sometimes I feel as though I’m too needy. Draining the people I rely on for emotional support. I need a lot of love to thrive. Sometimes I remain miserable to save those I love.

Lost Soul
Kayla Gallant Jun 2019
Cast me away
Into the fading light
Just a lost soul
In a vibrant lie
Take me down
To my resting place
Away from reality
Wearing a mask everyday can be exhausting.

Deep Sea
Kayla Gallant Jun 2019
My mind is much like the sea
The deeper you go
The darker it gets
Rough outline, might expand at a later date ❤️

Darkness
Kayla Gallant Jun 2019
You see she didn’t mean to pull the trigger, it’s just that her mind was so dark and she thought she was turning on the lights.
Just a flint of light cast into the universe

Acid Bath
Kayla Gallant Dec 2018
We know this isn't good for us
This rinse and repeat
Rut **** of a life
Yet here we are
Marching
In this clone army
Brains exposed
Bathing in acid
Killing ourselves
Slowly
Not too fast
Hate to cut this misery short
God forbid we follow the exit signs
Carved into our souls
Don't die a copy ❤

Insanity
Kayla Gallant Dec 2018
Slipping slowly into insanity
She smiles knowing she has found
Her home deep inside
The darkest corners of her mind
Messy little short poem I wrote while my brain was turning to mush.

Passengers of Life
Kayla Gallant Dec 2018
We are much too young
To worry this much
About life
All that we have to offer
We carry around
In a suitcase
The size of a plum
Yet we worry
We will never be
Good enough
For them
The Gods who control us
Puppeteers in balcony seats
We are just passengers
In this brief carasoul
Of a lifetime
This is a rough draft of a poem I am working on. I would love to hear some feedback so I can improve my work. Thank you lovelies xo

Death of Innocence
Kayla Gallant Jul 2018
Don’t take me
I beg of you
Fingers bleeding
Soul screaming
Heart racing
I refuse
To be dragged
Into the pile of rotting flesh
Where innocent souls
Go to die

— The End —
