"Where have you been?"
She asked.
"A little bit here,
a little bit there,
a little bit everywhere."
I said.

Me & the Moon
Mitch Prax Jun 2019
It's true,
the moon - she has kissed me
more times than I can remember.
Me - a little, lost soul in search of light.
She brightened up this soul
with her kisses and care
but wouldn't leave
the sky for me.

Shipwreck
Mitch Prax Jun 2019
I’m shipwrecked,
left in the dark - stranded
in a never-ending sea of despair.
I was sailing for nowhere,
doomed from the start.
No need for an anchor
when I have no destination
or no home to call my own.

My Do's and Dont's
Mitch Prax Jun 2019
Don’t live for the weekends,
learn to live for yourself.
Don’t write off those feelings off,
learn to be their friends.
Don’t mistake comfort for love,
learn to weld them into one.

you’re going to fall in love again-
the only difference is that next time
the feeling is going to
last forever.

The Body and the Battle
Mitch Prax Jun 2019
There are only so many battles
one can fight at any point in time.
to be struggling on so many battlefronts
can leave you weary and even broken
whether they are mental
or physical.
For a mere human mind or body
to be occupied on so many fronts-
well, they were never designed
for that sort of pain.

You and Me.
Mitch Prax Jun 2019
I want to listen to the rain,
and wash ***** dishes with you.
I want to admire the passing dogs
and maybe even get one of our own.
I want to push your grocery cart down the aisle
as we search for the contents of tonight's dinner-
laugh at you when you’re too short to reach the shelves
and be your hands to everything out of reach.
I want to exist with you and within you,
be the goosebumps that consume you
and the butterflies within your chest.
I want to look back on our photographs-
the ones that will become everything to us.
I don’t know where we’ll end up
but I do know we can make it.
You and me.
Always.

Distant Dreams
Mitch Prax Jun 2019
what actually were we
other than two broken hearts,
and two lost souls?
A sense of passion, yet only for an instant,
leading to an everlasting
feeling of torment.
Our distant dreams of romance
never quite turned into a reality
without even a daydream of hope.

I Adore You
Mitch Prax May 2019
Ah, nevermind,
anyway, wherever you are right now,
whatever you are doing,
I wish you all the best
this world can offer-
always and forever.
You deserve it.
And though our lives
don't always go as planned,
when it pulls you down and
drags you through Hell,
remember you have come so far.
You can get through it-
I’m sure you’re still the
strong person I remember.
And when you feel lost, sad,
hollow, lonely or exhausted,
understand that it’s okay
to feel them all.
You’re okay.
Everything is going to be okay.
Let it flow, let it go.
Good things are waiting for you
and let me remind that if you ever need
someone to talk to,
you'll know where to find me.
Don’t hesitate to call,
I’ll be here with open arms.
Just because we don't keep in touch,
does not mean I don't still adore you to the core.
But more importantly,
please don’t forget that you matter.
You are adored.

Creatures
Mitch Prax May 2019
We teach ourselves
to not feel a thing,
yet end up feeling
it right to the core.
Perhaps everything
can not work out the way
we tell ourselves it should.
Perhaps we are merely
powerless creatures.

Wherever You Are
Mitch Prax May 2019
Hey, how are you?
How’s your family?
Where have you been lately?
There are so many things
I have been meaning to ask you.
Can’t believe it’s been so long
since I last heard your voice.
It's true, I still miss you sometimes
but I now see you're probably
better off without me.
Just looking back on us
never fails to put a smile
upon my face,
but it also brings a tear
to know I can't make you
smile
anymore.

Reinvention
Mitch Prax May 2019
These last few months,
I have been learning how to
separate myself from my past,
my mistakes,
and all the heartbreak
and mind ache
that I have endured.
It's easier said than done,
but I do believe we have
the ability to reinvent ourselves
and love others unlike the way
they used to 'love' me

Self Destruction
Mitch Prax May 2019
I ate my own heart out
and I’ve never felt better.
Empty chest but my soul is full-
regrettable actions to fill the hole.
You can see it upon my face-
from these far-too-gone eyes
to that ****** crooked smile.
Don’t love this creature for it
has found peace in destroying itself.

It's been a While...
Mitch Prax May 2019
it has been a while
since I've written anything worthy
and it has been quite a while
since we last talked.
Perhaps these factors are related-
all I know is that I wrote
some of my favorite pieces
when we kept each other up-
when you were still in my life.
