A Gentle Tear
Mitch Prax Jan 2019
To this day,
your name
still hurts my tongue
but I still say it anyway.
Sometimes I like to
hear my soul
gently tear itself
apart.

Reading You
Mitch Prax Jan 2018
You are a novel
gathering dust on my shelf
but not because I don’t want to read
but because I’m afraid
to turn the page,
afraid of how you’ll end

Cosmic Girl
Mitch Prax Aug 2015
Like the sun,
she brightens up my day
Always there, never far away
Like Mercury,
She’s scorched with beauty
A dazzling image for all to see
Like Venus,
A goddess in my mind
A divine gift for all mankind
Like Earth,
Her heart is where I make my home
An aura so real, I never feel alone
Like Mars,
Her hair, it runs with red
she annihilates any tear I shed
Like Jupiter,
She has the largest heart
She herself: a work of art
Like Saturn,
Beauty surrounds her like a ring
So light and divine, almost floating
Like Uranus,
She goes against the grain
Free from the world, she breaks the chain
Like Neptune,
Her passion rages like the wind
she sets out like a storm to rescind
Like Pluto,
So distant but never forgotten
Dancing for eternity around the sun

Sun
You are like the sun
Everyone basks under your reflection
Soaking up your warmth and affection
Without you,
the world would be
a very cold and bleak place to live
a world I wouldn’t want to know

Destruction of a Man.
Mitch Prax Jan 2014
It is paranoia which destroys a man
Like oil destroys the sea
It is anxiety which destroys a man
Like termites destroy a tree
It is jealousy which destroys a man
Like disaster destroys a street
It is hatred which destroys a man
Like cold destroys the heat
It is worry which destroys a man
Like pollution destroys the air
It is anger which destroys a man
Like bleach destroys the hair
It is lust which destroys a man
Like darkness destroys the light
It is heartbreak which destroys a man
Like sunlight destroys the night

10,000 Sunflowers
Mitch Prax Apr 2015
I’m afraid of living in a
dreary world without you
So I went out into the fields
And picked
ten thousand sunflowers.
As they brightened my room
I was reminded
of the way your eyes
would brighten up my life

The Goddess
Mitch Prax Jul 2019
Maybe it's lust or
maybe it's her pheromones-
All I know is that when
I bury my head
into her velvet locks,
time seems to stop
and I must worship
this goddess beside me.

Your lips-
the doorway to that special place
I have made my home.
There's nowhere I feel safer than
beneath the roof of your tongue,
within the walls of your mouth.
We store our treasured memories
in the attic and
house the butterflies in the basement.
At last,
I am home.

Mitch Prax Jan 2015
Let me rid you of your heart aches
With poetry and strawberry cupcakes
So stay with me but for a little while
You accelerate time in just one smile

But all things must come to an end
I’ll miss you more than you can comprehend
To this day I’m still finding goodbyes tough
Because time spent with you is never enough

The Journey
Mitch Prax Oct 2019
I want to make that journey
from your knees to
your hips again-
it was always my favorite route.
Soft plains,
colored of oats,
and each road
I know like the back of my hand.
With my destination in sight,
it's getting more humid
by the inch.
Hotter,
wetter,
hotter,
wetter.

Reborn
Mitch Prax Jan 2018
Before I met you
I thought that
poetry was just
a collection of words,
that music was just
a collection of sounds,
that art was just
a collection of
shapes, colours and stokes
that life was just
a series of
years, breaths and steps
Indeed, I see things differently now
Through you, I am reborn

Homesick.
Mitch Prax Jan 2014
Life is hollow; life is pain
I’m never coming here again
There’s no one left, left at all
You built me up to make me fall

It’s a sick world, sick, sick, sick
It’s a world so full of hypocrites
It’s a world I can’t relate
you fill me up with so much hate

I don’t feel like myself today
I need some sort of getaway
This place will surely melt my brain
And you all cause me so much pain

My Shame is True
Mitch Prax Jul 2015
I feel it everyday
Tattooed on my brain
It keeps me at bay
Its origins unexplained
It greets me in the morning
It greets me in the midnight blue
Each day, I feel it like a sting
Each day, I know my shame is true
Mitch Prax Jan 2014
Life is a double-edged sword
Life is an everlasting chord,
It stings when you are alone
As it sings its bitter tone
Life is a double-edged blade.
It cuts deep, you’d better be afraid
Wake up tomorrow and let it start
Feel it pierce your fragile heart

An Exit
Mitch Prax Dec 2017
Is it true?
Does my name
Drift in the wind?
Over the mountains
And across the sea?
Does it fade
From your mind?
Like a visitor who
Has overstayed
Their time?
Do the memories
Recede to the back
Of your mind?
Like the sun leaving
the day behind?
