Birth
comes whispering
her way
into the world.
The passing
of the days
are unmentioned,
unnoticed,
forgotten sounds.
And then,
with no forewarning,
another faint whisper,
and we have
death
at our fingertips.
In vain
do we grasp
desperately
for the fleeting
moments,
sounds,
of which we were
oblivious to
only yesterday...
which were
Ours
only yesterday.
Alas!
All is gone
far
beyond our reach,
save only yesterday's
murmuring
echoes.

God Knows How
Cynthia Jean Jul 2016
The Lord knows

He sees the evil

He knows those of us
who sigh and cry
who look around
and see the evil
in our midst.

We want to run
yes run
run screaming
from all this evil...

The way of man

it is not in him
to want
to do right

we must follow
hard
follow hard after God.

Because the evil
the gross evil
all around us
is falling down
all around us.

Imploding
our society is imploding...
We cannot fight it
though we must try.

We can only
walk
circumspectly
keeping our eye
on our Creator...

because you see
the Lord
does know
how to rescue
the godly people
from their trials

and He does know
how to keep
the wicked
under punishment
until that final day
of judgment...

Oh, sigh and cry
hear and fear
reverence
our Lord.

So great
is His faithfulness
His love.

So great is He.

In the midst
of all
our pain
our grief
and our sorrow

there still is
hope.

He will not fail us.

Hope in Him

Hope.

Oh, we all need a Friend
who will comfort us
unconditional
safe and secure..

Who sees the pain
in our heart
And relates
to despair
Who knows
...and that knowing
is real...

The gaze in His eyes
is not a
glazed over look,
an empty
nodding of the head...

Rather....
a deep well
understanding
your grief, sorrow, pain
your aloneness
and cries of despair...

Seek Him out
everyday
drink deep from His well
no
worthless
impostor
is He..

He's no mind
numbing prozac
stealing
your
life....

As you're
walking with Him
He's holding your  hand...
Each day
....baby steps
become real...

His reality is
new life
hope
and  breath

Ask
for eyesight
to see
the hope
that He offers
And the price
it is right
it is free....

In Flanders Fields
Cynthia Jean May 2016
"In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields."

John McCrae
During World War I, a Canadian Expeditionary gunner and medical officer, John McCrae, fought in the Second Battle of Ypres near Flanders, Belgium.

Describing the battle as a "nightmare," as the enemy made one of the first chlorine gas attacks, John McCrae wrote:

"For seventeen days and seventeen nights none of us have had our clothes off, nor our boots even, except occasionally. In all that time while I was awake, gunfire and rifle fire never ceased for sixty seconds...

And behind it all was the constant background of the sights of the dead, the wounded, the maimed, and a terrible anxiety lest the line should give way."

Finding one of his friends killed, John McCrae helped bury him along with the other dead in a field.

Noticing the field covered with poppy flowers, he composed the famous Memorial Day poem, "In Flanders Fields":

we need

the kingdom of God

as long as

man

makes all the rules

he will call

all the shots

all the shots

all the shots

all the shots

all the shots

all the shots

The Father Cries
Cynthia Jean Jul 2016
The Father cries

He waits

He waits for the prodigals

He cries for them

Who wipes away His tears??

Finally
some
turn back
to Him

Tears in His eyes

He runs
to gather them up
in His arms

Now
His tears
have turned
to joy

after all
He is the Ultimate Parent

Truly
He knows
our grief
our pain
and our sorrow.....
