Settle on vocation
Jayanta Dec 2014
Whether drops of dew
Able diminish fire spark up in our home land?
Whether rice boil in well-off houses
Served the requirement of subjugated one of our home land?
Whether peace installed in meeting hall
Spread to countryside of our home land?
Everyone is in shrunken
With devastation malevolence’s follower,
Who dream that, they will make everything golden!
Therefore, my grandmother said
“We are just with soil, water and air
Don’t dream about gold or silver, it will wipe out your vigour to survive!
Go for vocation to nurture soil;
Bring in water, profoundly breath air...
You will grow along with other!”
Dedicated to people who lost their life , who lost their family member, who were displaced by militant atrocity last two days in my state.

Feeble depiction
Jayanta Dec 2014
There was a day,
When,
Water is flowing across hills to the valley
With the water, wave of sound is scrolling
melody of song and dance
Sprawl from hills to plains
everything glint up
‘Hoi la lia.... hoi la lai ..... ‘!
Rivers said to its people
In the hills “Barat’ is going on
Their women are determined to safe their nature and children!
Winds are blowing
From valley to the hills
In the wintery evening
Everything drenched by the aroma of new rice
The winds also carry the hum of ‘Mai Pathala’
Hills said to its people
Their young men are processing harvested paddy!
Now?
“Only sterile hills are there
Only sluggish waters are there”
People?
They are weeping around
for land, water and food.
‘Barat’ and ‘Mai Pathala’are two specific activities associated with Tiwa tribal communities of Assam,India. ‘Barat’ is rituals where women go fasting and praying to almighty for the safety and security of nature and their fallow members of the family. After the break of fasting a celebration is organized where everyone sing and dance. Mai Pathala’ is process of separating rice grain for its plants , where paddy with plants are arraigned on earthen floor above which young boy sing and dance . Ultimately owners are happy and new paddies were collected safely.

Chase of life
Jayanta Dec 2014
There is a turning point on the road
Where three different roads are connected to a point
One lead to holiness of eternity,
One is towards wisdom to explore through vocation,
and another one is towards world of embryonic market
to eat, drink and muddle!
We are standing on this turning point
from a historic past,
Searching and researching
to identify the apt way to step forward...
Probably it is the great chase of life.
Based on the interpretation of Mr Changse Kanglom about life and its discourses. Mr Kanglong is village priest of Dihing Kinar Nocte Village, Assam, India a habitation of Nocte tribal community.

Dear one’s song
Jayanta Nov 2014
It is a tell of
two adored in historic past

“Their life was bumpy
No one allowed them to tie the knot!

They were lucky
Times permit them to get nearer!
In the fullness of time,
They are happy
Since
Their new life is starts up!

They are starry
As
crops in their field are growing up!

They are brawny
Seeing
Her haulage to a new hope!

Their hopes are turns to gusty
Draught spread out
Crops ruined up
and in the bolt from the blue
He breathes his last!

She is becoming leggy
Tears and torn encircled
People started to blame!

All of a sudden
A magic brings Mosey
A birds comes in and
tell   ‘I am here now,
Going sing everyday for you
and our up bring!’"

Then onwards
People in the hills
label birds calls are
the songs of their dearest one !

Now, birds are becoming honey
to everyone!!

It is the time of celebration
for the Good health of our guest!
They arrive at our village a week back,
Now they are roaming around
Over the sprawling wetland and grass land
With joy and shindig,
Their call makes everything melodic and wonderful!
Everyone is happy
They said that
“Visit of the guest indicates there
will be good weather in next summer” !
So they will celebrate for the good health of honey guest
in next full moon night

It is dedicated to the villagers of North East India who take care and celebrate the visit of migratory bird to their villages in winter.

Perform ‘Sinha- Jatra’ of
Post-modern era!
On the occasion of World Environment Day. Celebrated on 5th June. This year focal theme is “Small Island and Climate Change”.
‘Majuli’ is island located in the midst of river Brahmaputra in Assam, India. It was a heritage point of nature and culture; hub of Baisnobaite  (Sankari) religious and  cultural practices with numbers of cultural complexes. The rich nature nurtures the rich heritage of culture and people. But from several decades the island is facing threats of nature and people lost their valuable assets and livelihood. Moreover, ongoing weather and climatic anomalies divested the situation with crop failure, water crisis, and sudden divested floods. Moreover, in larger area ground water is contaminated with arsenic.
There is need of strategic focus approach in the area for climate change adaptation and resilience planning.

‘Sinha –Jatra’- first Assamese Bhauna (theatre).

Weather deceive us
Jayanta May 2014
Our world is small
We sense content with little,
We are very small in this paradise of god!

We know simply ‘how take care of sheep’
and we moved around in search their food,
Because when they become happy and grow
They bless us to prosper!

People call us nomad!
But we are concern about the life with us!

When summer approach and snow started to melt,
Green covers spread out on the mountain valley,
We moved from the river valley
And spent the summer there-
to cater the need of our adored friends.

When snow starts to melt down,
We come down.

Now things are changing!
Last year we were divested.
*

We gather the information
from river water
about snow melting;
and moved ahead.

But without warning,
thunders come with snow followed by downpour
We have lost our children and many great friends,
Every one suffers!

Don’t know ‘why weather deceives us’?
In the memories of the discussion with nomadic herding people in their summer camp site, they are belongs to   Bakarwal community of Jammu and Kashmir ( near Patnitop), India, in 2011.

Rajmao’s Water
Jayanta May 2014
It was belongs to Rajmao.
She used come with her group of assistant,
Walk around on the bank in the morning.

Some time,
Sit on the bank and
observed the water.

When it is sand still,
She said, ‘ it is not a good sign, nature is dynamic and changing’,
When the big tortoise came over the bank and sit,
She said, ‘ god send him to observed us’,
When fishes run and jump in the water,
She said, ‘they remind us joy of struggle, continuity for future’!

She used to offer a pair of Betelnut leaf with a Betelnut  to the water and
Pray, make everyone gracious, prudent and human to served for betterment of all.
Then she goes into the water and
deep into it , twice or thrice
to washed away all the pompous sticks on her heart and soul,
acquire lots of endurance and audacity to taking care for all.

That was a time,
When Rajmao came,
Everything elated by her touch and care,
Grasses grows with vigour,
Lotus in the water smiles with esteem,
Grasshopper dances around her with adore,
Standing Bamboo spread up their umbrella
To protect her from Sunshine with admiration and worship!

When she came
Everything was invigorated and stimulating!
Now only water is there
Full with stains of our time
and it is step forward for turn down!

Six landmarks,
A marriage hall,
A primary school,
A children’s park,
A beauty parlour,
A temple and
A cemetery.

They always remind us
Stages of our life,
Ecstasy of life,
Commitment and cooperation,
Effort to meet the divine

Incisive sight
Jayanta May 2014
Searching it day and night,
Week after week,
Month after month,
.....................

Searching it on the  bank of river,
On the beach of ocean,
On the top of mountain,
In the nest of birds,
In the copious temple,
In the flaming light of cremation ground,
.............................
Unable to trace out!
I am still searching.........

Unable to envisage......
...................... I have lost
Don’t know
Where, how and when,
........

Please look into it......
May be it is in your neighbourhood....

It is as deep like the eye of Deer,
It is as poignant like the dancing grasshopper,
It is worn-out like a fallen leaf,
.........................

Please look into it........
Now witnessing everything through hired spectacle,
So, everything is gloomy and encircled by darkness...

I have lost my spectacle.....
Please look into it.......
If you find out ...............
Please send it .....................
Through rain and wind ........
To my new home in sky ..........

Saga of Ponnaiyar
Jayanta May 2014
It is Ponnaiyar
Flowing to the Bay Bengal
and carries all dire rumour
Make everything fine and fertile!

This is our sprawling land
Our father painted on it with their soul and blood,

There was a time,
When their crop field remain pour.....
without our slog.....

Over the years .......
Many water flows through Ponnaiyar......

Now they don’t called us
to transplant their paddy ..

Now they don’t called us
to harvest their paddy....

Now they don’t called us
to harvest their Sugarcane......

Now they love their machine,

Over the years ....
Many water flows through Ponnaiyar.......

My mother once asked ‘who develop machine?’
I replied, ‘Scientist ‘..........
She said ‘they are selfish’.............

Over the years
Many water flows through Ponnaiyar..........

Now we travel around,
and hunt for  living..............

Ponnaiyar still flowing to the Bay of Bengal
and caries the memo of our grief and struggle.....
In memories of Adibasi people of  Uchimedu village of Pondicherry. In my visit to the area in last week got an opportunity to visit the village and talk to different Adibasi families, Jagon a local Adibasi youth who help me in the interaction. It is very difficult to forget people’s struggle and their fight to achieve dignity.
Ponnaiyar is a river of Southern India, started from of Nandidurg hill of Karnataka and flows to Bay of Bengal.

Wave comes and goes,
without displacing its position of sources!
Spiral cascade the links and
interwoven over time and space!
Flow continues transect over space and time!

If you want go by wave its sudden and momentary,
But no one avoid spiral, in fact life is spiral,
And when flow interlinks tumble in the spiral,
It woven the movement of matter and life,
As you reflected in ‘Last Supper’ and ‘Mona Lisha’!
So, we prefer flow with spiral not wave!
