random splashes of cerise
were painted in the eve sky
they predicted a morrow
of beaming sunshine
tiny black ants scurried around
building high mounds out of dirt
before the heavy rains fell down
this last Thursday eve

Our Freedoms (Free Verse)
our freedoms
were
seized
the day it arrived
on our respective doorsteps
we're prisoners
shackled
tightly
to the disease's will
none of us can escape
we're heavily
restricted
our movement can't be
at fullest liberty
the feeling of being
well hemmed in
stays constantly
on our minds
and we're all screaming
for
release
the holding power
of its infection
won't let go
and the torture
never
diminishes

Haiku
a damp winter's day
prevailed in our region
dank twas its cold feel
they say
they say
that he'll be blown away
blown away
in a ballot paper display

they say
they say
that he'll have an unfortunate day
an unfortunate day
of terrible gray

they say
they say
that he'll be made to pay
made to pay
for his unpredictable play

they say
they say
that he'll receive an unforgiving spray
an unforgiving spray
from the fifty states array

they say
they say
that he'll not survive the onslaught's affray
the onslaught's affray
which is coming his way
The poem is based on Donald Trump.

Change
is there going to be a change
of administration
or will the status quo still be
leading the nation

with the election being
one hundred days away
that's when the citizens
get to have a final say

both candidates are hoping
for a decisive win
but only one president
can be voted in

when early November arrives
on the scene
we'll have an idea as to who'll
fill the oval office screen

presently Trump and Biden are
pitching their spiel
to an electorate who could well
alter the tiller at the wheel

is there going to be a change
of administration
or will the status quo still
be leading the nation

Fatigue
everyone is suffering

with Covid-19

fatigue

they've had seven months

of its preventative

league

social distancing

hand washing

and the

lock-downs

have all worn the spirits

of the people's

crowns

yet the outlook ahead

seems to

suggest

that we'll be stuck for some while

at the exhaustion's

behest

how we would like to again

resume our normal patterns of

life

instead of being in this

most extraordinary

many dappled shadows
played on the forest's floor
as light winds did blow
lonely also lonely
the nights without you
lonely also lonely
my heart tinged with blue

stars no more
flicker in the
skies
the moon has
lost its bright aura
since we said
our
goodbyes

in solitude I ponder
on my forlorn
shore
thinking of our
sun filled days
when we had
a complete
core

our rapport expired
to tattered
shreds
the unity we
once shared
frayed into
divided
threads

dimness prevails being
denied love's
flare
deficient of its
charming torch
my soul fees
a chillness of
air

lonely also lonely
the nights without you
lonely also lonely
my heart tinged with blue

Of A Poetic Lyric
of a poetic lyric
he did convey
as he sang the song
in a perennial way

"dance me to the end of love"
long our hearts shall beat together
"dance me to the end of love"
we'll stay ever close in tether

Leonard Cohen wrote
an undying
refrain
which you can listen to
again and
again
the words will echo
in a romantic
vein
of the dance his voice
did lastingly
explain

the melody of eternal
love
speaking so lovingly
of forever
love
BLT's song title challenge. Leonard Cohen's, "Dance Me To The End of Love" Acknowledgements, to Leonard Cohen for the use of his words.

Leonard Cohen
Dance Me To The End Of Love
Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

The Four Seasons (Haiku)
Summer...

the sun's intense touch
has a hard baking effect
upon the landscape

Autumn/Fall...

golden leaf tresses
festooned down the aspen's
majestic grey trunk

Winter...

night's gelid air flow
foretells of a blanket frost
covering morn's ground

Spring...

she'll be dressed in
a lively floral garment
effulgent of hues

Comeback
will he make a remarkable
comeback
or is he bound for the out
going track

this is the question that the
political doyens do ask
has he got the ware with all
to undertake such a massive task

his present poll numbers
are below forty one percent
and before November they'll
need a climbing ascent

the country's voters have already
endured four long years
of an administration that has
displayed many faulty gears

if the incumbent is hoping
for a chance revival
he'll have to engage all fifty states
in his survival

The Virus
the virus is showing
its resurgent
capacity
which is why people
must stay well away
from a crowded
locality

the virus's spread
is akin to a wild
fire
and it burns into a human's body
with a uncontrolled
kind of
desire

the virus isn't to be
taken
lightly
nor treated as a non
threatening germ's

the virus is still out
there waiting to
attach
itself
onto our healthy
shelf
Be aware at all times that the Coronavirus is still out there...

A Bright Horizon (Dodoitsu)
though we're in theses darkest days
let's not lose the morrow's light
when it arrives we will see
a bright horizon
The poem is based on the Coronavirus.
he's written a book
which tells it
all
and every passage is
sure to
enthrall

the commander in chief isn't
happy about the book's
content
and this has caused him
to express
malcontent

being on the inside he
could see what was going
on
and he formed the opinion
there were worries around

bloke
has decided to put a spanner

infamy

Nightmare
another wave of the

way
there's no respite from
its returning
play

none of us can let our
alert guard
down
ever we've got to keep a watchful

it's like a nightmare
that recurs again and
again
and we've yet to erase
the vision of its repeat

comes back with its
manifest
which gives unto us all

Haiku
the bouquet of love
has an attractive perfume
which senses rapture
the wearer of the hat
has a wart upon her nose
and she isn't as pretty
as a crimson rose

oft she and a broomstick
are seen together
zooming across the sky
in the teeming wet weather

her hat has a pointy
end to it
and it is like an upturned
cone's fit

those on trick or treat
favor the hat
though it might well
scare the pet cat

if you know the crone
who puts on this head-wear
then please feel free
to tell me of her spooky dare
beneath the earth's soil
a vast network of roots lay
which succor plant growth
they ingest the loam's good food
through their subterranean sprouts

the sun's beaming face
did smile upon the landscape
with a bright visage
his starred in a
television show
and he wore three
stripes in a row

he'd conduct business
behind the captain's back
as the Indians were
staging a faux attack

his sidekick was a
little man known as Agarn
and they'd regularly
meet at the saloon bar

no doubt he did
marshal a rag tag troop
and inside the fort he had
command of its coop

the show was filmed
in a civil war setting
and of its name I'll

heard of their force

they will sometimes

the plates have displayed

The Queen
the queen is always
very busy
breeding
and seldom takes a
rest from her
seeding

if she didn't keep
producing more

there would be few
to pollinate the
trees

her tireless efforts are

yet without her fecundity
no honey could be

we human beings should
offer our praise to the
queen
as she's never ceases her work

Repeat Image (Sonnet)
of a repeat image he did employ
which was akin to an advertisement
this being the artist's own singular ploy
did he do it for some little amusement
in galleries these very works can be seen
where they will feature an alike object
as if the viewer needed a copy screen
to understand the picture's subject
a dozen or more on the white background
they displayed a famous maker's name
who did blend the tasty liquid's abound
that was captured in a pop artist's frame
on this night I've written about the man
known far and wide for depicting a can
