Billions
Daniel Thorne Jan 2016
More stars than sounds and words,
Though they were spoken into existence.

Billions of stars and galaxies,
It's not about us.

Like a fruit salad in the universe,
The Planets in a bowl.

The heavens declare His glory,
The stars are a small taste of it.
The heavens declare the glory of God.

Broadleaf
Daniel Thorne Jan 2016
The caterpillars preach their sermons,
Crickets string their choirs,
Under the shade of Broadleaf.

Beetles teach their classes,
The sunlight shines through the foliage,
In the morning at Broadleaf.

The leaves are green,
The airport of insects is blue,
A canopy above Broadleaf.
Broadleaf is a place where a bunch of bugs live in the early spring morning.

The Promise of God
Daniel Thorne Jan 2016
You give me hope, for in my wayward days,
God sent you to lift me up,
And lead me through the haze.
You aren't Him,
But He gave me your heart,
From His grace and lovingkindness,
Planned all from the start.
You're a promise of God and none will compare,
For you are a promise and it's simply unfair.
For my "Promise of God" :) (I'm getting rusty on poetry)

For My Future Wife
Daniel Thorne Jun 2015
I'll be there for you, to the ends of the earth I'll go,
I'll find you when your lost, through storms and biting snow.

I'll help bring you closer, to The Father in the sky,
And I will always love you, even when you die.

When the light bulb's broken, I won't get another dwelling,
I'll just fix our hearts to shine again until with love they're swelling.

I love you over all the world, from the mountains to the seas,
From Earth to Heaven and back again through every deathly disease.

Thank you for always loving me, despite the uneven odds,
I know you're something special, your heart belongs to God.
Just a love poem. (I seem to be really good at this XD)

My Pretty Poem
Daniel Thorne May 2015
My lovely lady, a poem in her beauty,
Tosses her hair, and walks with grace,
Protecting her is my duty.

She's a poem all throughout, the inside is what counts,
Deeper in meaning, with a loving heart,
Her kindness is no limited amount.

I love my lady poem, she has beauty in her soul,
God has blessed her pretty face,
And she's as gifted as a burning coal.

I love her more than ever, she's a poem in her heart,
I thank the Lord she's here with me,
And pray she won't depart.
For my friend. :)

Always Come Home
Daniel Thorne May 2015
I know it's been awhile,
And I'm busy all the time,
But just because we're far apart,
Doesn't mean we won't be fine.
(Slight instrumental no chorus)

Your friendship is in my hands,
A lump of watery clay,
Don't think I'll forget you,
Because I couldn't bring that pain.

Chorus
It always comes home, I pray for your soul,
When demons and monsters surround it whole,
I pray that the angel of light in your heart,
Finds its way home, and never departs,
Never departs, never departs,
Finds its way home and never departs.

You're going to the outside world,
It's a very dangerous river,
I'm warning you, it's not what you think,
So bring a bow and quiver.

Chorus
It always comes home, I pray for your soul,
When demons and monsters surround it whole,
I pray that the angel of light in your heart,
Finds its way home, and never departs,
Never departs, never departs,
Finds its way home and never departs.

You've been brought up by demons,
Who want you in Hell,
I'm trying to help you right now!
You're under The Dragon's spell.

Chorus
It always comes home, I pray for your soul,
When demons and monsters surround it whole,
I pray that the angel of light in your heart,
Finds its way home, and never departs,
Never departs, never departs,
Finds its way home and never departs.

I'm glad you got through,
The hard part of your life,
I'm here to help you,
If only here to soften your strife.

Chorus
It always comes home, I pray for your soul,
When demons and monsters surround it whole,
I pray that the angel of light in your heart,
Finds its way home, and never departs,
Never departs, never departs,
Finds its way home and never departs.
A song for a friend that I won't see for a long time.

The Good and Evil
Daniel Thorne May 2015
Good things to those who do not heed,
The words of darkness but are freed,
To
     the infinite
                         light.
Not on the road of evil, nor in the seat of shame,
But the best of life is for belief in His name,
Meditation
                    day
                           and night.
A tree that's firmly rooted, on the river's border,
A living infinity of diligent labor, of order,
This
        is
             the good.
Dark ones are not so, flowing like chaff in the wind,
They will not stand when judged, those that sinned,
Before
           assemblies
                              of saints.
He knows the way of good, our Lord and master,
And as through His great power, The Dark perishes faster,
The Dark
                will be
                            no more.
A poem based on Psalm 1 in the Bible. A psalm was an ancient Hebrew poem so I figured I'd make a modern one.

Love in Space
Daniel Thorne May 2015
Through space and time, over every nebula,
I'll find you in my arms.
I'll search for you and hold you tight,
And keep you safe from harm.

I love you, how I love you,
Through all of time and space,
I bring you near me, with cosmic beauty,
And kiss your starlit face.

To the ends of infinity, past every star,
In the vast expanse of God's sight,
We embrace in glorious space,
Forgetting all but each other, and God's wonderful light.

I love you, how I love you,
Through all of time and space,
I bring you near me, with cosmic beauty,
And kiss your starlit face.
Daniel Thorne May 2015
When I was just a little boy,
When I went to sleep at night,
I used to stick to the shadows.
I was the thing people were supposed to be afraid of,
I led the monsters into battle.
I was in the shadows, and of the dark.

My mom used to keep the bathroom light on,
Every night it shone through my doorway.
The Light was coming my way, slowly but surely.
Why did I live in the dark?
Maybe because it was embracing my nightmares.
Maybe because it whispered "you are perfect!" in my ear,
Or maybe I was afraid of the bright of day.

Eventually it dawned on me,
That I could still be among the shadows,
And yet be of the Light!
There was hope for my pride, and sin,
And soon I began to shine flashlights in the dark,
To show it the way.

Going to Be Brave
Daniel Thorne Apr 2015
Welcome to the battleground,
Welcome to the fight.
We're an army waging war,
Soldiers armed with light.

Living on through madness,
For a cause we're standing for,
We're going to be brave,
To keep the oath we swore.

We're going to be brave,
When all around seems dark,
When shadows bash our armor thin,
When evil leaves it's mark,
We're not fighting alone,
We have a helping friend,
So we're going to be brave,
To the very end.

Evening
Daniel Thorne Apr 2015
The Sun leaves auburn shadows,
There's purple clouds in sight,
The evening fades down the skyline,
We lose the golden light.

Purple paints down the horizon,
The sun, not putting up a fight,
The evening's gone and this day is done,
And now it's time for night.

Along the morning way,

Our troubles have flown away.

And in this pretty sunlit scene,
The mists roll slow away,
To say that chapter one is done,
And now comes the rest of the day.

I Will Always Wander
Daniel Thorne Apr 2015
I will always wander,
To mountains in the north,
Your absence makes me fonder,
I'm treading back and forth.

The mountains lakes and caverns,
Keep out all the hate,
All of them remind me,
That wandering is my fate.

I will always wander,
From woodlands to the shore,
Walking all the trails,
That no one's tread before.

The mountains lakes and caverns,
Keep out all the hate,
All of them remind me,
That wandering is my fate.

I will always wander,
From blissful shore to hill,
I always seek the end,
But I don't know when it will.

The mountains lakes and caverns,
Keep out all the hate,
All of them remind me,
That wandering is my fate.

Someday, somehow,
I know I'll reach the end,
But only when my Father wants,
Not when I intend.

Trust
Daniel Thorne Mar 2015
It's funny how it works,
Easy said, hard to do,
But He asks us for our trust...
What restrains you?

Is it the fear of the unknown?
The darkness of sin?
The pain of failure?
Or your demons within?

I really can't tell you,
How to take a leap of trust,
But if you want to succeed in life,
My friend, you simply must.
Hard stuff.

That's prepared to take the world,
The perseverance ringing true,
Despite the evils hurled.

It's a powerful little creature,
Something from above,

A little thing called love.
A love poem because reasons. ^-^

It's slowly getting colder, our love does bump along,
Like an apple on a vine, we know there's something wrong.
But through our darkness, fruits will ripen, and the harvest will begin,

Pocket Worlds
Daniel Thorne Mar 2015
Is there a little place,
Inside your tired mind?
A place where you can wander,
That no one else can find?
It's a little bitty crawlspace,
Where you go to hide from life,
Hidden from the outside world,
From the devil and his strife.

There's lots of stuff to do in there,
Many creatures to see,
Many demons all around,
A twisted fantasy.
Crazy wishes do abound,
In this pocket wonderland,
Horrors as well as fairy tales,
Where battles are at hand.

No matter what you need,
No matter who gives you scars,
Just hide in your little pocket world,
And count your lucky stars.

I waited too long my dear,
To feel or say,
But it was all for a reason,
And now we've found our way.

Why so perfect?
Why am I blessed?
Why did He give me you?
I know it was for the best.

And I have no regrets,
No second thoughts retreat,
I'll stay with you to work it out,
My friend beautiful and sweet.

Sleeping At Last.
Daniel Thorne Mar 2015
It's the snow...
That falls around us...
That takes our shame, and leaves us bare.
It's the cold...
That drives us forward...
For we know the spring is coming.

I'm tired inside, I'm dying,
And nobody knows my pain,
I've tried, oh I've tried,
To last until the melting rain,
Till summer comes to move us on from the past,
And give us rest because we are running fast.

It's the snowdrifts...
That pull us down inside...
That heavy weight, of death and guilt.
It's the frigid winds...
That bite our hearts...
And leave us to repent ourselves.

I'm tired inside, I'm dying,
And nobody knows my pain,
I've tried, oh I've tried,
To last until the melting rain,
Till summer comes to move us on from the past,
And give us hope because now we're sleeping at last.

Bastille

All we hope, and gather,
All we see and pass,
Forever sinks, would rather,
Die in flames of brass.

Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
Were can our mistakes be, if all we are is sin?
Where there's nothing left to live for, and all is cold within?
There's one above, one up there,
One who heals our hearts,
One who saves and glorifies,
We don't live in the bastille this time to start.

All we're longing for,
All we want in life,
Forever leaves it's stay,
But He will slay the strife.

Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,

Of Monsters And Men
Daniel Thorne Feb 2015
We'll sing you,
An olden tale.
Of the deep blue ocean,
And flying whales.
The whales had nothing to hide,
But the ocean was stirring inside.
It made the whales go all wrong,
They became monsters of their own song.
The monsters went to war with men,
And there they were until the end.

Ashes and bones,
Swords and thrones.
This is what sin does to us.
It beats,
It eats,
It tears us all apart.
Pumping bad blood in my heart.

But if we are here,
And they were there then,
I've just told you the tale,
The tale of monsters and men.

Lighthouse Island
Daniel Thorne Feb 2015
I sat beside my dear old friend,
Who’d gone and died last night,
When in our boat on gentle seas,
I saw a welcome sight.

In the distance stood an island,
In the brilliant evening sun,
Atop, a lighthouse standing proud,
I knew it was the one .

It sat atop a rocky plot,
A gray and barren place,
Where in it’s majesty around,
It lit its shining face.

There had to be someone there,
I thought to myself inside,
I started to bury my now dead friend,
At the turning of the tide.

I walked around to see him there,
My Captain standing fervent,
He said with a smile warm and glad
“Well done my faithful servant.”

He lead me to the lighthouse,
Where a feast had been prepared,
Where many other sailors were waiting,
While the lighthouse mirrors flared.

But with eclectic pulses,
It's never quite the same.

If you've ever tried a melon,
You'll taste the sour souls,
All around the auburn flames,
And filled with solid holes.

The angels speak of falling,
Of going down the drain,
And all around the crystal light,
You'll always go insane.

Coherence is all relative,
All time has gone away,
Shapes will twist the life out of you,
And your mind has gone astray.

My Doorstep
Daniel Thorne Jan 2015
There once was a knocking at my door,
A scary rhythm came before,
Of footsteps stepping on the floor,
Coming up to meet my heart.

The moment slow and painful beating at my chest,
Will I fail? Will it end? Or will the Lord say yes?
I'm trying my hardest, thinking that it's the best,
I'm doing my little part.

Then those footsteps, loud and clear,
Left my doorstep taking all my fear.
For God said yes and on my cheek a tear.
God is good to me.

We Don't All Agree.
Daniel Thorne Jan 2015
We don't all agree,
How best to worship Jesus,
If certain things should break our hearts,
Or just as often please us.

But all that matters in the end,
Is not what we think is fair,
But to love The Lord and hate your sin,
And that Jesus died for us there.

That's as simple as it gets.
It doesn't get more plain,
That Jesus died for all of us,
To break away our chains.

My Friends
Daniel Thorne Jan 2015
To those who feel the darkness,
To those who starve with pain,
To those who are rejected,
To those who live in rain.

I will be your friend,
Though none others seem to be,
Though people start to hate you,
And no one seems to see.

We all have problems, we all have sin,
We all live masks and lies,
We all forget our decency,
And say things that bring demise.

So when no one else accepts you,
Still  I will be your friend.
When all is falling down around you,
To the very end.

Our Father loves us, wants to help,
And will take away despair,
He’ll fix our hearts and broken souls,
And wipe our conscience bare.

Alice's Song
Daniel Thorne Jan 2015
They locked me away and called me insane,
They said there was something wrong with my brain,
I pushed and I shoved as I recalled my blunder,
Of telling the truth of that land of wonder.

The Queen of hearts has me,
The tears that I’ve shed,
Are no small reminder,
That it’s all in my head.
The rabbit the grin, the voices within,
The chessboard, the game, are things I can’t win.

The Queen of hearts has me,
The tears that I’ve shed,
Are no small reminder,
That it’s all in my head.

They tricked me for good when they took me away,
And showed me the truth that I’d have to stay,
Till my white knight arrives in checkerboard thunder,
And brings me back, to that land full of wonder.

It seems terribly sad, but at least it was said,
I’ll fight for what’s right, when it’s off…
with…
my…
head...

The Queen of hearts has me,
The tears that I’ve shed,
Are no small reminder,
That it’s all in my head.
