Be Silent
Sean Achilleos Feb 2019
When someone curses at you
Be silent
For their own words shall become their pitfall
When falsely accused
Be silent
By the time the truth prevails
Your silence would've caused them more shame and embarrassment
When dealing with one who has a hot temper
Be silent
And he shall have no option but to flee from you
When an arrogant man always assumes to be right
Be silent
For fate shall expose his darkest secret in public
Never enter into an argument with a fool
Be silent
Because he will retaliate to everything you say ... even if he knows he's wrong
And you shall be reeled into stooping to his level
For every word holds power
Therefore it's better to be silent
Than to utter words of regret
Lies are like boomerangs
They depart from their sender's lips
And never find a place to nest
They roam like restless spirits
Only to return at the most inopportune time

Quiet Explosion
Sean Achilleos May 2018
Too much trauma
The brain needs a rest
Who cares
Too much of everything
To sleep with no interference
In isolated solitude
A moment of no spoken word
Curtains drawn
Darkened room
My room of gloom
Devoid of thought
No telephone to insensitively pierce the silence
No one to enter the room uninvited
Utter words of razor
Cutting into you
Into your very soul
A hellish insensitive voice
The one that could make you ****
Feel no shame
Carry no blame
Then go back to sleep

Winter Sun
Sean Achilleos May 2019
Winter sun you amaze me
Lush fields of green
The smell of a freshly cut lawn
Winter sun soothingly kissing my skin
An unusual stillness in the air
A world on mute
Winter sun you appear
Like a beaming smile
When my flesh is in need
Cover me in your wholeness
Enfold me in a leafy glade
Melt the cold away
And stay with me throughout this forlorn day
Winter sun bathe me in your golden ray
Winter sun never go away

Shadows
Sean Achilleos Nov 2020
Shadows tell tales
Shadows tell lies
Tall and slim they tower over you
Make believe that they're bigger and stronger
Shadow of a giant an ant can create
Believe its reflection if you will
Or know the whole truth
As the moon reflects the sun
Causing you to believe that there is light where there is not
So a lie could be concealed in glossy wrapping
And deception may cause you to look everywhere
Except in the right place

The Great Divide
Sean Achilleos Mar 2018
Like night is from day
The moon from the sun
Like oil and water that refuses to blend
Love versus Hate
So is the great divide
From the presence of light
To the absence thereof
A rift throughout the world
It surely can be felt
So is the great divide
Like a robust ocean torn in two
Cross currents can destroy
Like war differs from peace
A knife could cut or ****
So is the great divide

Stormy Seas
Sean Achilleos Feb 2018
I want to place my bed at the edge of the ocean shore
And fall asleep to the sound of the roaring waves
Where the seagulls sing a reminiscent song
When the high tide rolls in, it can wash right over me
The tide pulls back and comes again as so many things in life
I lay still in my bed waiting for the next wave to hit
Underneath a waterproof blanket I try to keep warm
The sea air surrounds me and my mind seeks shelter from the storm
This time there’s no more anger or resentment
I cast my fate to the wind and let go of the past
Love and light surrounds me

Double Take
Sean Achilleos Dec 2018
For years I turned right
For years I turned left
Believing it would bring me some form of happiness
Perhaps the lack of Love in my life caused me to do so
However I soon discovered that turning only in one direction
Left me moving in a circle
Thus was my cycle ... Thus was my life
Going round and round like a Ferris wheel
In ways I guess it kept me sane
In practice it wasted a lot of time ... Precious time
And so my soul had to be dragged through the dark woods
Lost in a maze
A whirlpool called life
A gloomy forest filled with hungry wolves
The only way out was to try all exits ... Break the pattern
To turn in all directions
From afar I could see a light
This light reflected ... As light usually does
But this light also attracted
I focused on it ... Progressed to where it was coming from
I was not afraid
I ignored the growling sounds of wolves trying to close in on me
Gnashing their teeth as if they could already ******* blood
I soldiered on towards the light
Finally I had reached the open door
I stepped into the light as if it had been waiting for me
Then I turned to see from whence I had come
But the ocean water had washed my footprints away
I was standing on a sandy shore
Children playing in the golden sand ... Building sandcastles
People sunbathing ... Sapphire blue waters
In the air the distinct smell of coconut
A mirror in the sky reflecting my life story
I was able to edit it ... pause and delete
Cut out the bad parts
But then I realised that without them my journey would've been incomplete

Chladni You Knew
Sean Achilleos Sep 2019
Matter in conjunction with sound
A pattern it shall form
A world under sound surveillance
What vibrations are being conveyed
What melody are we dancing to
Like a Chladni plate
A pulse of sound
The plate the world
The sand the people
Programmed to dance to a distant drum
Hypnotised but unaware
By a cosmic sound thumping through the air
Controlled by the powers that be
Until one day a cosmic intervention
Shall put an end to the sequencing beat
And we shall awaken from our sleep

I Think Not
Sean Achilleos May 2019
Does love need a reason
Is love a gender
Is love a colour
I think not
Does love need to be explained
Why and to whom
To thirst for water in a blazing hot desert
In this place we call the world
Love is to the soul
Like soothing cool water to a dry throat
A sanctuary of the heart
Where hope endures forever
Like a volatile substance
Once love ignites it will burn for eternity
Burning like twin flames in an unyielding grasp
Nothing can divide them
When both hearts burn equally
Does love need permission
Does love need approval
Is love apologetic
Is love predictable
I think not

Half a Century Strong
Sean Achilleos Nov 2021
Always afraid that time might run out
Always afraid that I haven't lived enough
Done enough ... gone the extra mile
Living in a state of chase
Looking back ... was I wild enough
Did I take enough chances ... was I crazy enough when young
Can the tape rewind
Can I live it all over again
Just to make sure that it actually occurred
Was I really there
Why did it pass so quick
Like a fleeting dream in the night
I blinked and the years had sped past
Half a century strong

WORDS
Sean Achilleos Jan 2019
Don't answer someone's question
When you suspect that he won't like your answer
It only causes discord
Therefore it's better to change the subject
Or to pretend you didn't hear the question
Eventually he will forget that he had asked you anything
Beware of a man who asks for your opinion
He might know in his heart that he's not truly worthy of flattery
He might be testing you
And knows that you're telling lies
Singing him praises will lead you into a trap
Everybody knows that a corpse is not a beautiful sight
So why fabricate words
It's better to keep quiet than to say something you don't mean
Thus choosing your words carefully shall lead to abundance
The less words you use
The more you're actually saying
And by saying nothing
You're actually saying everything
Never take for granted that everyone is as honest as you are
There's always a vulture in the surrounding
Waiting for you to stumble
And when you do
He will make it his mission to ensure that everybody gets to know about it
A fool will reveal his innermost secrets while intoxicated
Then hang his head in shame the following day
Every man was born with intuition
But in a modern world full of noise pollution
That inner voice could easily be drowned out
Too many distractions
Too many choices
And if you're not strong in who you are
You will most likely always end up making the wrong choice
Therefore seek for inner silence
Like a man diligently digging for gold
He never gives up until he strikes it lucky
Give your inner voice time to speak
And you shall find the answers you've been looking for

CRACKED
Sean Achilleos Jun 2020
Cracked
I thought you were perfect
Thought you were the final ingredient to making my life complete ... perfect!
Only to find that you were cracked
Yes, flawed!
At first I wanted to cast you away
Then came a rude awakening
I discovered something about myself
I found that I was cracked too
That the perfection I was seeking was driven by the imperfection in me
I was seeking my own wholeness in you
Yet I am flawed
Yet I am cracked
Perfection now holds a different meaning
The right imperfection makes perfect
And we all need some of that imperfect perfectness

The Sugarcoated Insult
Sean Achilleos Aug 2022
There once was a man who entered a pub
He sat down at the bar counter and ordered a drink
Minding his own business
Enjoying a cold beer sliding down his throat like silk
When a stranger approached him and took a seat right next to him
After some small talk the stranger asked the man
May I ask you a personal question?
The man replied, Sure!
He knew what was coming
He had heard this line so many times before
He also knew that the married stranger who had two kids was looking for something that he couldn't find at home
Are you gay asked the stranger blatantly?
Yes, I am, answered the man!
Why do you ask?
Not to worry said the stranger
I have lots of gay friends and they're actually nice people
Actually? responded the man
Yes, said the curious stranger
Then the man said to the stranger
Alright, so you've asked me a personal question
It's only fair that I should ask you a personal question too, right?
Right, said the stranger
Are you straight asked the man
Of course the stranger replied!
Not to worry replied the man
I have lots of straight friends and they're actually nice people

Spawned from a Dream
Sean Achilleos Mar 2020
We met in our minds
One enchanted evening
Blue black hair
Dark eyes that pierce the soul ... MY soul
We embraced for a fleeting moment
Glassy eyed ... dream believers
Fools like us keep the world entertained
Like human dartboards
We dodge poisonous arrows
We play the games that others don't dare to play
From the pages of a book
The story comes alive
We are able to make believe
Then like a bat in the night
You mysteriously disappeared out of sight
At the first glimpse of the morning sun
Headache ... empty glass
The stench of wine combined with silence
Tangible silence ...
Suddenly it doesn't matter where we are
We're somewhere on the planet ... You and I
The face of the earth they call it
Under the same blanket of stars
And I think I have learned to love you from afar
A necessary evil to survive

The Prophecy
Sean Achilleos Jun 2018
When I look back over my life
Many pieces of the puzzle fall into place
I often use the word seasons in my writing
And this is not even a poem for that matter
But I've come to know that darkness accentuates light
A strange sense of destiny
Opposites that work together towards one goal
Something that needs to be achieved or completed
My whole life through this has chased me
When I was a child I enjoyed making soup
Wooden spoon in hand stirring the broth
The sole of my right foot up against my left ankle
I must have looked like a ballerina
My mother seated at the kitchen table
I heard her giggling from behind
I turned to her and asked "why are you laughing"
She replied "the way you're standing and the enjoyment you get from making soup"
I uttered "do you know that I'm going to achieve something great someday"
She asked "where did that come from"
I responded "I don't know"
She said "so be it"

life is but a fragile thing
years may seem as if they were one day
wanting to relive it all again
as if it never really happened
the want to feel or touch
afraid to forget
time has covered our memories in dust
thus I accept that no man is immortal
including I
a flower is picked from the garden
while one's time is withering away
the other is in full bloom
the peace of acceptance
not knowing how long the journey will last
bloom while in season
this life
merely a temporary ride to the next

Solitude makes you stay at home
Solitude makes you draw the curtains closed
Where is my love you ask
Grown wings like a dove and flown away
I need you, you cry
But there is no answer and the silence has become tangible
Living in memory are you...from a love from long ago
Wake up, wake up, you hear a voice cry out
Wake up...morning is here
The sun is bursting in the sky
And scorches down on your very soul
Wake up...your love was only but a dream and barb wire surrounds you
Hello loneliness...hello solitude

Choose to Love
Sean Achilleos Mar 2022
There are but two paths to tread by
Many categories
That of peace or conflict
That of hope or the hopeless
Ultimately divided into two
That of Love and fear
Some might say
Love and hate
The ultimate path is Love
But also the most challenging
To Love through the darkness
To Love through the storms of doubt
To Love through the hatred
To Love through adversity
Choose to Love

Train of Thought
Sean Achilleos Sep 2019
A healer can heal another but never himself
Advisers have words of comfort for others but none for themselves
The dark can never exist in the light
A fool can not fathom wisdom
The stars can only be seen at night
Though they are always there
The conditioned mind can only understand what it has been conditioned to believe
You'd be able to slip through a crack in the wall
If you believed it possible
Why concern yourself with what people think
When you have no power over thought
A stone can shatter glass
But words can break a heart
Ignorance and arrogance is the worst combination
It always results in disaster
Magic or miracle
You can not explain either
Neither can you hide from yourself
Likewise you can not stop the sun from rising in the morning
It shines on both the good and bad alike with no preference
Respect all fauna and flora and unbeknown to you it shall respect you too
A dog won't meow and a cat shall never bark
Why then attempt to be anyone else other than yourself
No matter how marvellous a mansion might appear
If its foundation is weak it is sure to crumble
Trees take years to reach great heights
But sadly get cut down within minutes
Never step into shoes that are too big for you
It does not become you and shall cause you to fall
It is better to possess a fraction of wisdom than all the riches in the world
It will save you from ruin
It is better to reprimand someone when they're wrong
Than to sing them false praise
They might hate you for a while
But will thank you in time to come
Jealousy is like an illness
It causes destruction to the body and clouds your judgement
Enjoy being happy but know that it is temporary
And when sad know that it too shall pass
Both have their assigned time
Strive for Peace
Pray to receive Wisdom
And know that to Love is key

Beyond
Sean Achilleos Mar 2020
Something lies beyond
The power of Love is unity
Fear thrives on division
Life online ... A virtual existence
An implementation of fear
Something unseen is at work
Is the beast on his way
Or perhaps already here
A blanket of darkness has covered the earth
An awkward silence hangs in the air
And fear has become tangible
The earth seems sad and tired
Then a division line shall be drawn
Across earth and sea
The time to separate sheep from goat has come
And what is hidden shall be exposed
Like an overripe fruit that has fallen from a tree
Burst open for all to see what was lurking inside

Oh beloved country
Why do I cry for you
I have been told this is not my home
But how can this be
When I was born on your very soil
Country of division
The cry of the wild
Can we not sing one song
Sing in unison
Like a dry, barren and cracked piece of earth
We long for rain
Hungry for peace
And a reign without prejudice
Where all men are equal
And we **** no more
The ground has seeped up all the spilt blood
It has kept record of every innocent life lost
Until one day it will offer up the dead
And every sword shall be held accountable

Coat of Shame
Sean Achilleos Jan 2021
Mother you made me wear your coat of shame
A garment of lies you had created for me
A coat that never really belonged to me
I wore it as a cover-up
I wore it to please you
I wore it because I love you
And even though you're gone
I use love not in the past form
However one day my porcelain mask fell off
It hit the ground and shattered
It was time for me to spread my wings
My turn to fly ...
I was unable to continue playing the part
A role I had been given ... Like an actor in a play
A voice cried from deep within ... Be yourself!!!
Yet the weeds around my neck were still choking me
Words of obscenity they whispered in my ears ... ungrateful ******* is he
Oh how I wished they could have shared in the weight of my coat
A different tune they might have sung
They never felt its weight ... They never smelt its stench
How many times did I wish to take it off and wash it clean
Or simply toss it into the fire
Yet that coat taught me a lot
I could never lie to myself again ... A mask I could never wear again
They slip, they fall, they break, and they melt when the truth prevails
Yet from behind that mask I learned things
That no professor could ever have taught me

It was revealed that it would end at 63
A line shall be drawn
And the white winged dove shall take flight
No questions asked
It was what it was
It is what it is
Circumstance of no change
He did not ask for an extension
In fact he said nothing at all
Victim of fate
Or simply the art of knowing

When someone gives you something special
Be glad if you can't return the favour
For greater shall be their reward

Give without expecting

Be happy when people discuss you
It's a sign that you've got something they wish to have

Smile even when sad
It will confuse your enemies

Never make a promise you can't keep
It's better to say no
And later change your mind
Than to say yes
And not to do what you had promised

The light and the dark
Are as far from each other
As the north is from the south
East from west
Yet they are undeniably aware of each other

Avoid telling lies
Your memory might fail you

To have faith to believe in the impossible
To know that hope exists
Because we live in an imperfect world
For if it was perfect
There would be no need for hope

And above all
Love with all your heart
As if your life depends on it

It's a sad revelation
To discover that nobody is to be trusted
Lying tongues
Twisted together like snakes in a pit
Honesty is nowhere to be found
Nowhere do you feel at home
Nowhere do you feel welcome
Even the grass complains when you step on it
You can only keep to yourself
Long and silent are the days
It feels good when the sun beams through the window
But that is short lived
Soon you will travel home
This journey will require no luggage
Your work is complete
All you ever wanted was to be loved
But love in this world does not come free
And you never had the money to buy it

Now, I say thank you for tribulation
Because you've proven to me that I can overcome them

Remove the impossible people from my life path

Now I say thank you for those idiots
For they have sharpened my senses
I now recognise a foolish person by their shadow
And though we sometimes wish to be young again
We'd never want to be foolish again
And the greatest gift one can obtain is wisdom

The Hourglass
Sean Achilleos Sep 2020
Don't procrastinate
For the sand is running swiftly through the hourglass
For every idle word
For every idle thought
Is time that will never be resumed
The sand is chasing
Running speedily, Slipping hastefully
And there is more sand at the bottom of the hourglass than at the top
Make haste
Do what you have to do, and do it well
No second chances
Until all the sand has run through
And the value of your sand of life shall be weighed up
Don't be slow at doing good
Don't say tomorrow
For we only have today

I'll Choose My Cat
Sean Achilleos Aug 2022
There once was a man who had a lover
One day his lover died
Shortly thereafter his cat died
A genie appeared to the man who stayed behind
He asked the man who he'd wish back if he could
His cat, or his lover
My cat the man replied
Why asked the genie
The man replied
It's simple, my cat never intentionally hurt me

The Demigods of Our Time
Sean Achilleos Jul 2020
Oh the politician of our day
We practice equality is what they say
But their works don't match their words
To pose as little gods
But to hold no real power
Spin tactics is their game
To win your vote is their aim
While a desperate nation's voice is silenced
Millions of promises are forsaken
Like accumulated rubble on the streets
Working to live ... Living to work
Until one day a line shall be drawn across the sky
And all the demigods shall assuredly die
They shall be planted like trees ... But not to grow
Remembered no more
Tombstones covered in bird droppings
As a new horizon awaits
Where all the little gods of our time will be washed away
And the real God shall arise
There shall be no need for substitute little gods
For the true God, the real God shall be with us

Whatever
Sean Achilleos Oct 2020
This morning I picked up a card
It was a seven of hearts
I wondered what it could mean
Lately I've been praying for Love
While others pray for rain
Maybe I'm just a fool for believing true Love exists
I know that fony Love exists
We've all been there
Back to the card
What could it have meant
Why did I pick it up
Is Love on its way
Or am I just a sucker
Who can't resist picking up someone else's trash
