melody and melancholy
Rama Krsna Nov 2023
sitting here,
accompanied by a cold, dreary november drizzle,
i sip that cup of ambition
yearning for a little melody.

we could’ve been a little something!

as i soak in a tub of melancholy,
i ponder over this incomplete jigsaw puzzle with a gaping hole in the middle.

when will you see that you’re the center piece?
and may be the solution to the riddle.

they only bear his name
Rama Krsna Dec 2021
once,
just once,
give me that starry eyed look,
you gave him.

is that too much to ask?

you’ve got the gaze
which could raze
the pyramids of Giza.

though you hold
your silky hand in mine
and run my pencil thin fingers
down your gartered legs,
your lips and that cartouche
still bear his name.

they only bear his name....

his shadow etched
even deeper
within the impenetrable walls
of your tumultuous heart.

but, that’s aye ok!

not all things in life
are meant to be,
every love
is a product of destiny,
which includes you and me.

Rama Krsna Jul 2021
this oriental rose
textured with occidental precision
desperately seeks perfection
in all things worldly

nature’s true signature
wreaks havoc instead:
in the rocks of the grand canyon
in a mole on a cheek
in the dried but fallen leaves of autumn
even in the scribbling of our children

embrace wabi-sabi
where wafting moments of melancholy
transform to sheer joy
in the subtle realization
that coexistence with incompleteness
the proven path to release one
from the chaining bonds of perfection

emptiness,
that pure lightness of nothing
needn’t be traumatic,

force regrettable choices and actions.
unlike a visit to the dentist

just knowing you’re back
in time for the falling leaves,
perks up these pink roses in my room.
this city’s tap water feels a tad wetter,
even the meek new moon seems a lil’ brighter.

as the evening zephyr waltzes
across this moody park,
it seems to carry with it
a message of love, a beaming smile and knowing’s silence,
spruced with a whiff of those black orchids.

with
her tintinnabulating anklets
sullen ‘time’
now thirsty for blood
sticks her elongated tongue
at ‘consciousness’
threatening to annihilate him
and his tired creation

ever present ‘consciousness’
in his state of yogic trance
smiles to counter:
for me - ‘time’ always is still
at best, relative
so, if and when,
i wake up to perform

will you even exist?

leaning to kiss your imaginary lips,
i taste

chocolate truffles and grapes of Montrachet,
which bring an angelic smile to a moonlit face.

scribbling a needed epilogue

within the confines of my jello heart,
i curate a dream,

Rama Krsna Oct 2021
will some one vaccinate me
from this virus of love?

paris is burning
from all my yearning,
yet, you will be my first desire
and my last regret.

let the flames of Armageddon consume me now,
cuz it beats a leisurely death by a thousand cuts.

this ain’t shopping for candy
or a game of Peter losing Wendy
‘tis as real
as illusions get.

these million shards of glass
from the heart  you dropped
will not be picked up,
no, no, no.... they will not

to lie here,  forever
like a tomb for future lovers to see
below the arches in this soulful park,
where you so casually stopped
locking those delicate hands of yours into mine.

on this sensual night
of the clementine moon...
to write or not to write
her dilemma

this tender heart
carrying burgeoning weight
and heavy pangs from burdens past,
needs to be set a-free
into the flying world of poetry....

remember
where that golden key resides,
deep within
that inverted pink lotus,
not gray matter
atop
as often intellectualized

let go
that need to be in control
and take a deep dive
into the ocean of uncertainty,
only then will this white dove
soar
to the heavens of ecstasy

thus the sage has spoken....

tis a perfect summer evening. a blood shot moon inches across the night sky in the city of sin. the sage and the enchantress sit at an outdoor cafe under a lantern lit tent exchanging life stories, as a vintage bottle of ‘82 margaux loses its virginity.

she could’ve been off the cover of Vogue. clad in haute couture, her slit eyes sparkle like the diamond butterfly ring, she elegantly sports. her complexion near flawless. he on the other hand, a hippie, a yogi and ancient as Rome. living proof that the hour glass can indeed be brutal on a city dweller.

her doe eyes dart from the past to the future while his steady gaze stays in the present. quite like the burning candle on their table. the mercury dips into the night as saintly time simply goes rogue.
