York
Ryan Holden May 2017
As the blossoms bloom,
On this starry filled night,
Oil lamps flicker through streets,
For shambles lay bare scenic,
Streets fill in euphoric chaos
as this used to be the capital
Of a much more wonderful time.

Frolicking in streets,
Silhouettes follow in sync,
Linking arms and spinning,
Strong ale, bitter sweet cocktails,
Not a singular frown in sight.

Drunken ghost hunting,
Finding only the bottom,
Of an empty glass,
Ambience of undescribable wonders.

Even now on starry nights,
As I walk through the streets,
I still see silhouettes,
Of what once was,
York,
Is a magical place to be.
Every time I visit York I love it! I'll be moving soon, right in the centre!

English Love Memories
Ryan Holden May 2017
Taking long drives,
Through these country roads,
Catching butterflies,
And memories along the way,
Taking advantage,
Of the nicest of days

Dipping our feet in the sea,
Of sheer iciness,
Instantly feeling like needles,
Prickling our toes,
But we keep running as far as we can,
Holding hands,
as we go.

Eating a lemon top,
In freezing cold weather,
Not a single care,
When we're together,
Villages, pubs,
And countryside,
Our two hearts,
Will be full inside.

Even as summer passes through,
We always go back,
To that cosy shelter,
Whilst you're wearing 3 layers,
And my best sweater.

Birthday on the London eye,
Trying to count the bowler hats,
From up in the sky,
And seeing how many bulldogs,
Walk closely by.

Queuing for hours on end,
But filling in that empty void,
We call conversation,
Psychotic bond,
No hesitation.

I remember at the royal wedding,
As they passed by,
New princess with her dress sparkling,
I whispered in your ear,
You look much more beautiful, my darling.
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
(Chorus/Hook)
I've tried so hard to find you,
I've seen empty roads and streets,
Empty sheets, and broken dreams,
love is not all that seems.

Fire or cold it seems whatever the weather,
We used fight for our love but we came to our tether,
But her blood is ice cold and I cant seem to shiver,
This pain inside my heart my blood flows like a river,
My hearts been crushed into a million pieces,
You were always my biggest flaw, biggest diseases,
I'm rummaging around trying to find the pieces,
of this soul, that you stole, whilst my heartbreak increases.
But you tore me in two, even when you knew,
I was trying to renew, as you tried to subdue,
The lies behind your eyes as love fades, love slowly dies,
so does her disguise, a succubus applies,
but she denies, all the love he feels inside but its no surprise,
cause she was a regular woman who drains and dries
Her soul, to reach her own goal then breaks up with guys,
But then he buys, her a diamond like shes won first prize.

(Chorus/Hook)
I've tried so hard to find you,
I've seen empty roads and streets,
(Growing and Hoping you see, no women stopping me)
Empty sheets, and broken dreams,
love is not all that seems.
(If you're weighed down break free or drown)

I think those back-trackers are all delusional,
you're losing your mind your becoming dysfunctional,
I'm hoping, I'm choking, I'm breaking down and I'm shaking,
while her heart is flaking, love from my bones I'm quaking,
in my shoes, like a puppet on string, a short wired fuse,
to trip me at any moment then abuse,
My kindness and goodwill to show people I always spill,
All my pain and love into one girl and it won't fulfill,
The persistent greed she has and the cold dampened chill,
Her life of torment and the ability to ****,
A singular man to stone with one look in her eyes,
But don't worry I'll be saying the final goodbyes,
So watch me as I walk out of your fiery frozen door,
but Don't ignore that my heart will recoup and restore,
To it's former fame and glory its an old untold story,
How my past relationship was really ******* stormy.

(Chorus)
I've tried so hard to find you,
I've seen empty roads and streets,
(Growing and Hoping you see, no women stopping me)
Empty sheets, and broken dreams,
love is not all that seems.
(If you're weighed down break free or drown)

Because she's dripping am slipping on the venom shes sprays
while I'm gripping and swinging these double edged blades,
wearing these shades to protect from the rays that she will blaze,
from her eyes its the only way that it seems to fade,
But you always pointed the finger at me like you knew,
that from the moment we both met it was gonna be you
the one who cut me in half and left me in two,
But I gained strength from within then I squashed down and drew,
A line through the page that messed with my sanity,
cos of confusion,  I couldn't catch gravity
in my fingertips avoiding pain and agony,
but just for the formality, i gave myself mortality
Just so I can outgrow the pain that weighs me down
But we'll leave this town and I'll turn it right around,
if illusions perceive me my mind stays incomplete,
if details were plain to see Intercepting your cold hearted feet.
I made my poem "Succubus" into a rap. I'll post the audio on here soon. I sing the chorus also :). I hope you like the lyrics anyway! (3rd verse to follow). I try use a play on words here :)

Sleep
Ryan Holden Apr 2017
Tell me picturesque,
Why do you look beautiful whilst you sleep?
Is it that my heart has fallen,
Deeper than the ocean,
Or is it that I'm scared,
That you'll soon wake up.

Foxglove - Haiku Poem
Ryan Holden Aug 2017
Your vibrance is like
foxglove, in small doses it
Is medicinal.

You control my heart
And volume of blood per beat,
Healing conditions.

When you consume all
Of her poisonous nature,
It kills you quickly.
Thought I'd make a contrast between the two.

Hidden Love
Ryan Holden Feb 2018
Sometimes the blind
Lead the wide eyed,
Even in darkness
And glimmering light,
Our hearts skip once
For echoes to show -
hiding in shadows
when love starts to grow,
I’ll whisk you up -
Intertwining
The cyclone of love.

Okay so basically I've been writing lyrics for a few years. But recently, however, I decided I'd try rap and sing I've only been rapping 3 weeks and attempting singing this once for this song! This is one of my first attempts, I recorded it through my earphones and laptop so it's a live version so its rough. I wrote all the lyrics including the chorus. It's really deep, I wanted to keep it poetic though so I hope you all enjoy. Constructive criticism is all I'm looking for at the moment especially being so new. I promised I'd post it!

Depart
Ryan Holden May 2017
Hold my hand, as I hold your breath,
Comforting my soul,
Pull me closer, conquer peninsula,
I've missed you, and I can't bare,
The thought of you going,
Back to the conflict filled province,
So please don't leave,
You've only just arrived,
My heart is absence in yours,
And this can't go on any longer,
But only,
Because of the conflict filled province,
When you depart,
Kiss me goodbye, and hold me me in memory,
As it may be our last.

Incubus
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
He squeezes her shape into a suit that fits
But happily disregards the ones that don't,
As every material or materialistic item
Is merely just temporary clothing he wears for his comfort.

Her silky waist down and up to her cotton flammable heart,
Both burn and tear just as easy as the next,
Despite his sweet persona,
He's as bitter and acidic as chemistry gone wrong.

But he washes and rinses her into a wave of hope,
And she drowns,
Because she has been habituated to drowning.

Cold bones is her love,
But he always glides away like a ghost in the night,
Questioning whether he bleeds the same blood,
Because is it humanly possible to do the things he could.

She has dreamt of his silhouette all night
But is unable to see the whole faded image,
The silence has become part of her,
You clipped the angel wings she would bare just for you
And is no longer able to fly.

Instead she drowns in an ocean that you quaked,
Suffocated on an island of crashed cold bones,
Cold, cold bones.

Even when she was the soldier
That never fled from battle,
You made her the brute
With a machine heart and machine mind,
Steered from her innocence
And tenderness to be kind.
As promised! Just a quick writen whilst on my lunch break at work! Haha.

As she breaks and burns,
Through this narrowing night,
Her ointment of prowess
Takes over the duty,
A fraction of lumens,
Yet just as bright
To those glaring eyes.

As she howls over this hill,
She echoes through trees,
Snapping twigs as she goes,
Turning us to stone,
As we stare
At medusa of the night.

Dressing Table
Ryan Holden May 2017
Unhinged circus,
Requires perfect masquerade,
Before gymnasts leap,
Into Cinderella's world,
Spiralling into fame.

Before presenters go on stage,
And broadway groups dance,
Into undreamt wonders,
As actors rise and fall,
Her maple core remains.

As years elapse,
Girls become Women,
Perfect maple figure unscathed,
Always anticipating moments,
Of celebration, love and sorrow.

But most of all,
I still can't fathom,
How the dressing table speaks,
Invaluable untold stories.

Longing For Her
Ryan Holden May 2017
I miss her light,
She brings in this darkness,
I'll wait here by the phone,
With these stained curtains closed,
My walls are already dripping,
In regret and Revere.

I miss her light,
Heating up this cold heart,
Longing for those bright eyes,
Truly a work of art,
I just need a moment to apologise.

I miss her light,
I'll tell myself not to ride,
Down this road of infinite,
Into a world of terror,
If heaven or hell decide,
Which destiny I'll reside.

I'll still be here, thinking of you,
In the darkest of rooms.
A poem about regret!

This Suit Doesn't Fit
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
I finely wear a suit just because
I want to be finely dressed,
Yet no matter how delicate
My skin,
I feel sharpness of the silk,
As it cuts me slowly
Like the insults you bare
From your balcony of power
I've been bruised and broken,
But these bones are shaking
Alongside my veins that bleed
Hope and transparency.

I've been kicked to the curb
more times than a football
Except I don't bounce off,
Because my heart isn't shaped
To survive the forces of evil
That walk amongst these walls,
Or people we call friends.

I still wear the finely made suit
Because I know if I take it off,
My skin will crumble and fall,
sometimes I live my life, In confines of fear
Other people bring when I don't fit
In this tailor made suit,
The only thing holding me together
Is sewmanship that my suit brings,
Or perhaps the mask I hide behind
When I try blend into this room
Full of people wearing suits.
A poem about being scared to let yourself be yourself. Living your lives In confines of fear.

In Order to Survive - (Rap)
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
1st Verse/16 Bars
I'm trying to earn more pennies to mark me a moment in life,
A moment in time, I should probably drop this razor sharp knife,
I need to Push forward through this crowd of confusion,
But your in delusion with these rhymes that I'm using and abusing
Cos I'm confusing, consuming, choosing and amusing myself,
refusing so I'm producing more tracks for consuming and wealth,
Snapping your neck at every single beat, whilst you're tapping your feet,
So all  sit back with some popcorn you're in for a much needed treat,
I ponder and wander in my mind sometimes as I see painted pictures,
when I paint I find a story or a rhyme using these triggers,
Whilst I play with words that take years to carve and curve,
something harder to learn and yearn into something much more worth,
More to you than me so my life had, meaning from my birth,
Ripping up turf, trying to find words beneath the core of earth,
So I rap in metaphoric tongue because I'm using poetic justice,
you're frowned from above whilst you try master and craft this.

(Chorus 1)
In order to survive,
Do all you can in life,
Make yourself feel alive,
In order to survive.

(2nd Verse/14 bars)
I use a form of speech that frees the soul to reach your own goal,
so you won't be buried inside you'll confide in deep parts using coal,
to set fire to bars you spit, ripping and fitting every single hole,
Whilst I rap I'm reforming and morphing them into some sort of mold,
Because while I'm hitting, n knitting bars like threads and then sowing,
the lawn whilst I'm mowing n showing people I'm always growing,
in capacity and trying to shove off some of the animosity,
the world's in atrocity whilst I'm producing I feel it subconsciously,
As we would say in Great Britain would you like a cup of Rosie Lee
and then In France they say no musketeers without the three,
but I found me as I perfect and refine every single line,
lyrics so evil I'll be committing a grade A crime,
in time for these dimes to drop without single a fine,
Lyrics so sour you may as well **** a lime.

(Chorus 2)
In order to survive,
Do all you can in life,
Make yourself feel alive,
Find a future or wife,

(3rd Verse/14bars)
I can rap like I'm insane but other rappers are plain,
No strawberry or chocolate just vanilla milkshake,
I dream of crowds shouting my name not in vain,
Because within this ink I'm pouring my soul through pain,
Razor, scissors and chainsaws will cut you all the same,
Like these lines that will cut you up whilst I'm in the game,
i hope you realise but this whole rap is one big metaphor,
A rise to the fame and all the glory comes with downpour,
Crying so hard he might flood the whole ground floor,
Biting so hard into the rap hes got lockjaw,
I hope my next song will be featuring someone who killed a
situation to diffuse the rhyme from the bigger picture,
I'm Slitting my veins to bleed and produce on this page,
trying to push and pull salary above the minimum wage.

(Chorus 1x2)
My next rap I wanted to play with it a little. With some detailed rhyme schemes. It's not finished yet but I hope you like the roughs. Audio to come soon :) (Try rapping it to a "boom bap" beat ;)

and set an example
for others -
even if I’m a pushover,

smiling at the ones

Take My Heart
Ryan Holden Nov 2017
The clock strikes
Confession time in my ink,
where I lay my arms down
with my veins full for you to see
what runs through them.

I admit my mouth is no river -
But you know that
I can think of a hundred ways
To get you closer -
To let my mouth run snakes
through your mind.

But I could think of
A million ways to make you smile,
And I would always much rather
See you happy -
But I choose to fall into your eyes
rather your arms -
As I can't separate my dreams
From my own reality.

Each day in Autumn I fall,
And each winters snap -
I will be bitten by your wit,
Then as Spring rises like the blooms
In your smile,
I will wake to the most beautiful
Of sun rise.

Her heart with mine -
Because I can't pretend
Or give anymore hints
whilst I lay arms down,
Tell me I'm yours
Because like you
I'm scared
To fall
Too.

Not only does

Ryan Holden Oct 2017
Even as I freeze.
I don't drop to my knees,
The cuts from the knives
The self inflicted disease,
The unspoken words
eyes filled with tears,
closed mind,
closed blinds,
closed ears.

But as the waking leaves
curl towards new light,
the blanket opens the horizon
like a million glorious stars,
glistening the dew on the leaves
of the grass over the hill.

His consciousness had awoken,
enlightened yet frightened by the past,
remembering the pain and resent.

But I can't do this just yet
I can't be broken,
I don't want to be hurt anymore
I have nothing to give,
but I have everything to give.

Only in time will I give you my all,
I'll fall, deeper than I've fallen before.

Like the precipice wasn't the problem -
just the sheer drop below, into an ocean
of love potions

To swim with the dolphins, and to rise above the surface of the solitude.

To be able to not drown in a sea of emotion
because your eyes alone are the ocean,
and I was just a wave skipping by.

I've found the trail I want to follow
and even if I tell myself I have nothing
to give,
I know I have every single piece to give
it's just,
I've only just collected the pieces.

So please,
if I give you my all
don't shatter me, it took too long
for me to rebuild myself.

The truth is,
I want to fall deeper than I've ever fallen
I want to dive into your eyes,
to get lost at sea,
to get a call from you,
For you to say you're missing me.

When you told me you didn't

Ends to play with, and scissors

Ryan Holden Jun 2017
I asked my Father when I was young,
"Father I wonder who I'll marry one day"
He used to laugh with his beer belly hanging down, rough my hair,
And tell me
"Son you're a prince, you'll find a princess"
As the night turned I would go to sleep early excited for my dreams night by night
Hoping I would meet my princess soon.

When I was a teenager, I didn't breath a word,
At least most of the time.
On my eighteenth birthday I asked my father after I had a few too many beers,
"When do you think I'll meet that princess"
Whilst my smile was off-centred,
My father looked and said
"One day son, you're a fine man"
I went to go to bed, but my father said
"Son, another beer"
Pain in my voice of too much alcohol probably said it all.
"Erghh, I can't drink anymore"
So I went into my man cave and dozed off.

A few months after my 21st, I was outside,
Sitting on a garden lounger with a fire stick,
Prodding away with a cold beer in my other hand,
As the night progressed we had drank a pub dry,
We sat mesmerised at 3:00am by the flickering flames,
I turn and tell him
"dad, I think I've finally found the girl in my dreams"
And he asked me
"How can you be sure?"
So I replied
"Because, I've nearly drank that whole crate of beer and I don't feel tired, nor do I want to sleep. Because living in this moment, even if she's not here, even with her on my mind, knowing she's mine. That's better than any dream, you've ever dreamt".
More of a story than a poem but I thought I'd share. It's those moments In life that matter. Also pays tribite to all the Father's!

Fingertips
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
You talk so lightly
Like fresh air in fog,
You were my vision
Through absolute blindness.

You were the world
That revolved around me,
You made me fill in gaps
That were missing inside.

You made me feel
Like nothing mattered,
When you had me,
If you'll have me.

But you made me crash
In the fog that I tried wandering,
You made the world crumble and fall
Beneath and above these walls.

You made me feel
Like nothing mattered,
But nothing did matter
Anymore when you left.

I'm still shaking and crawling
These walls that disappear
Around my feet and heart,
As I look below I see emptiness.

As I fall into a never ending drop
Of uncertainty I look back up
But hold my arms towards you
So you can catch me as I go.

But you only caught the fingertips,
Of my love.
A poem about feeling like you had somebody, but then you don't.

1st verse
ill tell you a story about the place that we live in,
How people hate each other, never forgiving,
Frantically telling me, people judge on nationality,
But we fall quicker than, we can catch all the gravity,
Politicians are happy, they don't lose sleep,
they keep us in formation hopping the fence like sheep,
they cant swim in the ocean of truth its far too deep,
all this pain inside me, is bursting and hard to keep,
people judge in popularity instead of soul,
I look different at the world, its my own personal goal,
but I'm feeling and falling into ferocious fates that I feel,
When the clear glass in front, never gets revealed,
I'm feeling philosophical over analyse the world,
whilst it twirled and curled people around me just swirled,
even little girls are living no Polly or pearls,
No food, shelter, water, only young girls.

Hook (1) x1
I see people broken, and choking in the street,
I see woman hoping, trying to stand on two feet,
Children are hungry, and politicians don't lose sleep,
cos they Form us into lines, turn us all into sheep,
and then they take individualism from individuals,
I see it with both eyes, I'm chronicles of visuals,
Sending signals to my brain it always seems to tingle,
Because I put together jigsaws like pictures aren't a puzzle.

2nd verse
I see peoples necks just arched into phones
But when I was a child, we used to thrown stones,
Not stay at homes, when one roams he reaches his goals,
But I took a hold of my life and I used the controls,
So I snatched the sun just to bring in the light,
And I grabbed at the moon just to bring in the night,
And I swam this ocean just to bring in these waves,
and I surfed on the tremors hoping a soul that it saves,
I wanted to flip the world 360 cause its in me,
within me, magic tree, letting go of leaves we're free
Even in thickest storms never get tangled.
stand on our own, not fragile, keep it angled,
People use racism every day in the system,
risen to glisten my concoction of the serum,
Lets rise and make this one giant kingdom,
throw away restrictions, racism and division.

Hook(1) x1

Bridge:
open your eyes can you think so freely? x4

3rd verse
Your clock hand keeps ticking, tick tock, tick tock,
We've broke the clock, and we've broken the lock,
to the secret garden of eve, as i weave and weave,
spinning straw into gold before your eyes, you wont believe,
threads of spun gold on my wheel like Rumpelstiltskin,
But I mark my life with a pin, Gemini twin,
I'm using my mind to send through these signals,
bars like rainbows should be sponsored by skittles,
Catullus RP too much pressure I form crystals,
these aren't just stories these are facts not scribbles,
I'm not trying to rap about money or ****,
and I'm not going to rap about pills, girls or speed,
People are killing and stinging instead of living,
instead of just giving you're a villain who keeps digging,
people with no talent make money brains absent,
you haven't got the minerals not a single fragment,
please find me a person who's heart wont worsen,
someone who's kind and someone who's never cursing,
practice for an audition to change the world I'm rehearsing,
bubbles keep on bursting, only kings are emerging.

Hook (2) x1
Currently we look at angles to win,
never biting the bullet moment or pin,
worlds turning and yearning I'm always learning,
I'm searching and surfing on waves that you seem to be churning,
pick me up don't put me down,
please try turn this frown around,
It's simplicity, trying ability with possibility,
vocabulary's increased I've extended flexibility.
I wrote this last night after writing "deeper perspectives" I wanted to make a rap. Still not finished it needs a lot of editing :) - I wanted it to be serious/play on words so some parts aren't so serious but it breaks it down when you rap it :)

Should get my new microphone soon so quality is going to be better - just a little delayed in the mail!

Bottled Heart - Haiku Poem
Ryan Holden Nov 2017
You bottled your heart
Inside your gut, but then it
Festered and rotted.

Only to catch a
Single drop on my tongue I
Knew you had gone off.

I stopped checking the
Expiry dates, almost like
I grew accustomed.

To knowing I can
Never find a woman, who
Quenches my loves thirst.

Aspersions
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
Does your mouth
Lead you towards ease,
Like your mind blindly thinks.

Does your thought process
Consider or weigh options
Of passing weeks or months.

Do you feel remorse
Or sympathy as you cast
Spells of aspersions headed.

Do you even know
The reason why you chose
Me instead of the other options.

Do you even care
That you hurt me more,
Than you'll ever know.

But do I care enough
To explain how you
Wrongly accused me?

I guess we'll never know.
Just a quick write.

Shooting Stars - Tanka
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
Even if I had stars in my eyes,
Would you still make a wish
If they flew past as you looked
Into the forever fading sky.

Daffodils Of Time - Tanka
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
I dream of my childhood freedom
When my fragile innocent bones,
Would run through overgrown fields
Of daffodils in summer sun.

Eyes that ****** my tongue,
A smile that captures the most
Wonderful feeling.
