Falling down a void,
Of never ending cycle,
Your persistence considered,
Never disappoints restless,

To stop the dripping tap.
Currently a tap dripping in my house and thought I'd write about it. Ha.

Who am I
Ryan Holden May 2017
There's everything beautiful within you,
Not a single flaw,
Begging for love,
but shutting it down,
There's truly everything lonely within you,
But it's such tragic irony.

As soon as I can hold you,
Once again,
I won't let go I swear,
We can't leave us behind,
Anymore,
We've watched clocks turn,
Glared as days burn,
Trying to catch the ashes,
Between my elusive fingertips.

The hardest of catch,
Wanting competition but scared,
Of not matching expectation,
As I'm battered and bruised,
Broken in two,
And who the hell am I?
Not feeling like you're good enough for anyone.

Mushrooms In Spring
Ryan Holden May 2017
Whilst these icy warm chills,
Bring in the new spring,
The leaves flutter in breeze
Over the tallest of pine,
That has turned to steel
During the winter months.

Dew falls in between piled leaves
That have sat all year round
Harbouring all kinds of critters,
Thick mulch they call home
Is kicked around as we play.

Picking brambles as we go,
Trying to avoid the thorns
Like cuts to containers,
As we rummage we find,
Mushrooms of colour
Red and poker dot white.

Frantically lowering myself
To see the magical wonders,
I pick it, holding it in my palm,
Without hesitation,
I chewed it down like a Labrador
Missing several meals.

Holding onto a tree like a squirrel,
I see elephants galavanting
Pink and colourful as they dance,
In between pine and spilt wine,
Pixies leave fairy trails as they fly,
Gnomes emerge from doors in trees
Whilst I'm floating, talking to bees.

Birds are gathering all kinds of fruits,
Whilst ants are performing opera
In little tiny ant suits,
Beetles are rolling on dung *****
Whilst juggling fire,
Bugs are crawling, cricket calls,

This is the last time I pick
Mushrooms in spring.
I just wanted to write something silly. Haha. Enjoy!

Fresh Flower, Rotten Roots.
Ryan Holden Aug 2017
I can't shrug the vast curiosity
For the beating heart that strives
for her has become flat lined,
a line that no longer represents
hot coals of my love

The quivering shores are barren
to the sand that we count
as it is lost in winds of time
and life experiences.

Fast paced indecisiveness is lost
with my teenage years.
As is the confidence and acceptance
to sparks of love.

My soul shakes at the thought
but my heart leaps from my chest
like salmon up stream,
forgetting the cold waters and unable
to remember the tune.

For I am a bruised man.

So I cant risk the shards of this
glued heart being handled again,
As one drop, one fall,
could mean the end of my affection.
Loving, loving and loving some more - the fear of falling again.

My life, my tune,
Soul mate,
Best friend,
My wife,
Best thing in my life,
Hold me close as you sleep,
On my chest in a heap,
Hold onto me like glue,
Don't let go,
Our bodies intertwine,
Like a corkscrew.

Affliction
Ryan Holden May 2017
This affliction,
my enemy,
Vast pain,
Frosty end for me,
Agony undying truth,
Something incurable,
The undying hope
Something durable.

My loved ones,
Notice I'm weak,
She will notice
I'm brittle,
True love I seek,
My strength, very little.

Torn between truth,
Not the athlete from youth,
Working hour after hour,
Crippled my body,
A fragile skeleton,
I embody.

My grandkids,
Inspired,
Regardless if grandpa,
Retired,
Cherishing moments,
In life,
I'll wisp away,
Still my wife.

Goodbye,
Beautiful queen,
I've loved you,
Since I was eighteen.
An old poem I wrote about my grandad passing away. I went back and edited it a little but it was the second poem I wrote. So sorry if it's not great but it's close to my heart. I wrote it from his perspective to my grandma.

Two minds
Ryan Holden May 2017
Keep me inside your purse,
On a Polaroid, For better or for worse,
Darlin' I asked for your heart
I'm sick of being lonely in dark,
In this cellar im trying to find
Why, is our love so blind,
When it's only you on my mind.

Loving can heal and repair your soul,
Loving is the one thing that I know,
It burns so bright,
Please stay another night
Easy baby take my hand,
Whilst we spiral we stand,
Chest on chest we take deep breaths
Spinning with our silhouettes.

These pictures are memories
that are painted within,
your heart and this empty
bottle of gin
match the love drunk moments,
whilst you're with him.

You know it can be hard
People make it sometimes,
Our eyes are always closing
But love will never be broken,
Time will stop still,
As long as you keep me
On that Polaroid picture,
Inside your purse to remember
We were meant to be together,
Forever.
A love song I wrote about lost love.

Almost Alone
Ryan Holden Apr 2017
I'm alone,
Nobody around to hear my soft cries,
I hope for hospitality,
All I receive is brutality,
Help,
Somebody must care,
I'm broken and it's not fair,
All I need is a caring hand,
I bury my head into the sand,
It will be easier that way,
Because nobody seemed to care yesterday nor today,

I'm a fraction away from insanity,
Crushed heart in need of help for vanity,
I beg for attention,
Yet I receive nothing but rejection.
Just something I wrote about people who suffer with depression. I wanted to express how they can feel, despite people showing they care, however, they will never truly know. The title represents how they're not alone "almost alone" but they believe they are!

Wings
Ryan Holden May 2017
Let's take a leap,
From this precipice,
Hoping that my wings,
Will guide our journey,
As we slowly glide,
Into our new beginning.
Ryan Holden Oct 2017
Once our lips collided
The ground beneath shook,
Unmeasurable richter scales
Never mind the after shock.

Tension gripped between our fingertips
As our hands clamped tightly shut
The vice grip pulled us closer in,
Pushing us up against one another,
As our hearts beat in one dreamy rythm.

Looking into each other's lost eyes
We looked down at each other's lips,
Seeing the moist on hers I licked my own,
But she caught my tongue on the way back.

Silks shed, losing strings between delicate
Sewing - still sharing our words through touch,
We both inhale sharply as we meet our passion
To fall in between the lights from the moon outside.

My Sleeve Is Clean
Ryan Holden Oct 2017
When the giant sleeps
he lays dormant, never to be heard.

He sleeps like a baby but breaths like a lion through the caves as it echoes.
But to the surprise of those glaring,
waiting for a beast to emerge from
this,
never seen reputation he has built.

'Tis only the gentle touch of his hand
that gave him his second reputation.

A soft one, a push over - but ha, I laugh in the face of unlaughable emotions, kind notions and love potions.

But that's just not me is it...?

I said to the wall in front of me
I needed to pass but,
to my amazement,
I could never even see,
a wall, a mere
mirage to the retinas deception.

But I question why I ever mention,
my thoughts and perceptions
like the worlds in one convention.

Despite being mouth to horse -
I always got stared at,
trampled down and taken for.

Ironically I'd say for granted,
but I'm left stranded, demanded around then commanded - like this sleeve hadn't already,
seen the washing powder one too many times.

All the lost faded faces I left on my brain,
all the sleepless nights,
I thought my help could turn me insane,
But as the day repeats,
I'm thinking... "Not this Again"
Not another sleepless night,
Just waiting the next day.

But at least I know
before I take my final breath,
It was all just a test,
until death,
And I don't live a day,
with a shard of regret.
A poem about me personally. Always getting called a push over or soft, because I live my life as "that guy" wishing everyone a good day and making sure I put a smile on others before myself. I recently sat and assessed people around me, who was bringing me down, who used me, and I cut loose ends. For once I was selfish - yet I still help them despite breaking. Even if I hate - I give kindness. I live with no regrets, and despite my pain I always wear a smile! Live to the fullest, love, laugh and share dreams, that could never be written even in your mind. Enjoy the read!

Mysterious Exotic Goddess
Ryan Holden Aug 2017
As she lays bare
''Tis not just her eyes
That sparkle amongst stars.

Her skin reflects candle lights
As amber skin mixes
With olive tones.

hourglass sand falls with my jaw
Drying my bottom lip with nerves
Yet excitement and lust.

Feather like touches tingle
Every sense of being alive
As our hearts murmur in time.

Palpitations even match rhythm
In this alchemists dream bond
That doesn't exist on the periodic table.

Our heats radiate screaming,
As your goosebumps on my fingertips
Tickle me back, teasing my nerves.

''Twas the night I finally realised
My heart could once fly again
And you were the one to make it.

Even a singular night felt like forever,
Grasping our chance, and gasping
With pure, destined passion.
I think it's self explanatory this one haha!

With imagery
Inside my head,

Sun
Whilst sun rays beam,
on this longing cement,
Grass and nature perk,
leaning towards goals,
waiting for rain in drought,
As dry as deserts,
Like gunpowder to a musketeer,
Dry, explosive in heat,
Skin and fur are touched,
by her light feathery reach.

Soul and hearts enter zones,
of tranquility and peace,
Blackest of seas,
Appear as turquoise overtones,
Yearning over this land,
we call home,
When its truly her house,
of sanctuary, her humble abode,
Birds sing harmonic tunes,
through gaps in trees,
Minds are opened,
like gates to a throne,
Separated,
From a plethora of clouds,
That weigh us down like anvils.

Within our persona,
we expect greatness,
over uncontrollable forces,
But she grins and laughs,
like a sinister angel,
of giving and forgiving,
All the while,
Earth remains spinning,
She sustains extant,
And keeps us living.

Poetry Puppet
Ryan Holden Jul 2017
If I wisp away
Into this humid night,
Whilst my sweat drips
With my honey and
Your anguished hollows.

And as these trees calmly
Blow in this muggy fall,
For when my legs can't clamber
These piercing cliff rocks,
And my knees tremble.

Because I fear, yet anticipate
My own emotions in misty
Wind that blows between us,
That will guide me into a pool
Of my own heart shed.

''Tis not your sensitive heart
My mind will whisper,
We're all a lover deep down
Yet I'm cursed with overthinking
Like a poetry puppet.
I feel like us poets are all sensitive - or we all think way too much into emotions and love. Hopefully some of you can relate!

Replace The Fuel
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
Have I lost the touch
I was given from superior,
Do my views and likes replace
soul that is dripped in my ink,
Because as I write I feel
Every single line,
Like it's my first day at school,
My first love, heart break,
Backstabbers and enemies.

It fills up this empty ink
With fuel, fire and soul,
Designs and pictures
That I paint on paper
No matter how many people
Try stop this tide of words
I sew together with meaning
And life choices.

My emotions are drained
Onto the paper like a sponge,
Along with those tear drops
And for what is to remain
Whether it's good or not,
Everything I write
I feel with passion and pain.
I wrote this because I've had a lot of negative comments about poetry as a whole recently and it frustrated me haha!

Caring Souls
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
I walk listening to music
Inside my own tranquility,
Searching these lonely
Yet full streets,
Like a ghost town
For the sociable,
Attention is directed
Toward phone screens,
So we talk about the unspeakable
Silence at an awkward occasion.

We try filling the gaps that we lost,
The cracks that had been opened,
We seclude our souls in this
Marvellous giving world,
We reach for arms but
Can never seem to grab them,
We beg for help but can't seem
To give our own emptiness.

For all could be filling our gaps
Like we need to be fixed,
The falling trees and lives
Match those of sticks and stone,
Sticks resemble our innocence
Whilst stone indicate our hard
Relentless ways to hurt one another.

But I continue to stay in my own
Tranquil world of loneliness,
Because I've grown accustomed
To the curtains I can draw
So easily shut,
I've grown accustomed
To accepting that we will never
Be caring souls anymore.
Modern society.

Aligned paths, cast in stone,

Ignition to my heart

You guided our journey
And you had it all figured out,
You held my heart in hand
And you merged it with yours.

Now we both walk the same path
That we were destined to do,
Now that my heart is yours,
You have me, and I have you.
Love I've acquired. Thought I'd share!
