Scars - Haiku x3
Ryan Holden Dec 2017
Even if my scars
Are visible, or they cut too,
You are my ointment.

I want you as mine
I want you as remedy.
I want you for life.

I don't want you to
add more scars, I have ran low
on skin to be cut.
Ryan Holden Nov 2017
The pain I paint in
My eyes, you can see I hurt
Before I met you.

You were the canvas
I never displayed when you
Were here from the start

Now I need to wipe
It all away to begin
Our new story.

But then to feature
On my heart, because my wall
Wasn’t large enough.

Replace The Fuel
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
Have I lost the touch
I was given from superior,
Do my views and likes replace
soul that is dripped in my ink,
Because as I write I feel
Every single line,
Like it's my first day at school,
My first love, heart break,
Backstabbers and enemies.

It fills up this empty ink
With fuel, fire and soul,
Designs and pictures
That I paint on paper
No matter how many people
Try stop this tide of words
I sew together with meaning
And life choices.

My emotions are drained
Onto the paper like a sponge,
Along with those tear drops
And for what is to remain
Whether it's good or not,
Everything I write
I feel with passion and pain.
I wrote this because I've had a lot of negative comments about poetry as a whole recently and it frustrated me haha!

Caring Souls
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
I walk listening to music
Inside my own tranquility,
Searching these lonely
Yet full streets,
Like a ghost town
For the sociable,
Attention is directed
Toward phone screens,
So we talk about the unspeakable
Silence at an awkward occasion.

We try filling the gaps that we lost,
The cracks that had been opened,
We seclude our souls in this
Marvellous giving world,
We reach for arms but
Can never seem to grab them,
We beg for help but can't seem
To give our own emptiness.

For all could be filling our gaps
Like we need to be fixed,
The falling trees and lives
Match those of sticks and stone,
Sticks resemble our innocence
Whilst stone indicate our hard
Relentless ways to hurt one another.

But I continue to stay in my own
Tranquil world of loneliness,
Because I've grown accustomed
To the curtains I can draw
So easily shut,
I've grown accustomed
To accepting that we will never
Be caring souls anymore.
Modern society.

The Forgetful Poet
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
I craft words
With imagery
Inside my head,
I weave and I write
As I go along,
Swarming my brain
Like a thousand bees,
The clock hand ticks
Quicker than mine,
So sometimes I run
Off the page and forget
What I was even thinking.
Just a quick write about how I often think of something as I'm writing and I'll forget another line! Haha.

Life’s Perspectives
Ryan Holden Jan 2018
In life we wither
slowly as we go
through seasons weathers
nature always grows.

We can contemplate
and we can always worry,
we can’t subjugate
so we suffer covertly.

If we took a seed
to sow, no fear,
even noxious weeds
know reasons it’s here.

As the years start to orbit
and time keeps on ticking,
worry about your wallet
it won’t show in your coffin.

Summers end pinches us
for the seeds we have sown,
disbursement of pods fuss
for the spring, to be grown.

With nothing to lose
with nothing to fear,
if it’s dwelling you choose
whilst you spend your time here.

Nature knows it snows
and nature knows it’s flaws,
still happy it knows
a new seasons open doors.

Only to bloom and admire bliss
whilst they are working hand in hand,
with Mother nature’s glistening kiss,
perhaps one day we will understand.
I just had a thought about how people go through life worrying about everything, and nature is happy knowing it can spread seeds for the next season. Just a perspective! Haha enjoy :)

Manifold Nature
Ryan Holden Jul 2017
She is the music
And all of the joy,
I see her blossom
And unfold into the
Beautiful flower she is,
Yet her petals are clipped
With few wounds,
Where wounds in
the wild become
One rhythmic motion,
One perfect combination,
Her joy is a manifold nature
Making more
Than one
Happy.

Stallions In Dreams
Ryan Holden Oct 2017
You don't have to be an eagle -
to see the white stallion in a field
of ponies - nor do I ever feel
like I was the person riding it,
like all of that power was mine -
to command.

But I was George Custer to your
finely edged arrow tips -
I was an easy target and I let myself
get beaten and bruised,
knocked from my mount -
Colliding with every single piece
of stone on the ground.

Cuts, scars, grazes, bruises -
But these stones do break bones,
and these sticks puncture my chest -
Yet this is a mere kiss on the cheek
to the words that cut me so, so deep.

I fell so hard into a bottomless pit
even the ocean hadn't explored
this washed out chest, praying to find
a person who's soul is just as kind.

Now I sit day by day - watching the stallion
in the fields, in all its glory, inside a story,
that I paint inside my proudest dreams -
getting just that little closer to what was,
I look forward to the days approaching -
for the day I get back on my stallion.

And to ride with you - in all of our glory -
inside our story - that we will paint
as we fade into the fields of our dreams.
A quick poem I wrote today. Just about how recent events and past few years has affected my confidence and I feel I can't give my whole self to people. But I see myself getting much more confident recently!

I Found A Pearl
Ryan Holden Jan 2018
I know this life can be strange
The simplicity of love,
nor wavering expressions
nor the walls that you put up.

Knowing I'm not alone,
with your warm lifted soul,
a drink of sap from the tree
you've gently nurtured for me.

She has everything to give
in this large, limited world,
so...
I stopped looking for more stones
When I knew, I found a pearl.

Her walls are
indestructible,
I throw rocks, stones and catapult boulders,
I chisel away through nooks and crannies trying to find a weakness,
I hit it over and over with a sledgehammer,
Yet no matter how hard I hit the wall
I cannot knock it down,
I have merely chipped my way into her heart.
A story about 2 people who are in love, yet one being an open book the other being closed.

The Calling
Ryan Holden Oct 2017
She was born to be the only
woman and saviour just for me
Taking twenty three years to see,
Me laid alone,
hand near my phone
waiting for her message
in a bottle of notes.

Just praying my dreams
were all that they seem,
As we intertwine,
Love bursts at the seams.

Capturing our souls as we fly
over the humid moonlit sky,
Being able to wave goodbye
at all the other times we tried.

For you to finally be mine -
In heart, and in mind,
With joy, and with time -
Because this ink comes from my soul,
my princess, my life,
Can you still not see
we were destined to rise and shine.

Sunday Tranquility
Ryan Holden Jun 2017
Town hall bells ring
Vibrating my skin awake,
Birds whistle my ears into
The new harmonic day,
Grass-cutters chop my dreams
Short.

My dog licks my tired eyes open
Soaking them with love,
Fresh coffee tingles my senses
As caffeine runs through my veins,
Counting grains of sugar instead of
Counting my parking allowance.

Despite my lack of sleep,
Baggy eyes and aching bones,
I still miss my Sunday mornings
When even what seems like mayhem,
Is sweet tranquility.

Scared Of Asking
Ryan Holden May 2017
I used to ride by every day
Making my paper round worth while,
Your beautiful hair, and your beautiful smile,
Kept me breathing the air,
Oh, how wonderful, how rare.

I would see you in corridors at school
Trying to be calm, trying to stay cool,
But we talked for hours about you,
It was then, it was how my love grew,

My sweet darling please stay here
In these memories, in my fear
Of losing you my darling,
You'll see, what you mean
To me.

I've loved you forever and always,
And you know that this is true
So please stay with me,
And tell me, you love me too?

Love me till I die
Please look me in the eye,
And tell me that
You love me too
And that the best part of my life,
Was the moment I met you.

Because I'm scared to tell you,
How much you mean to me,
Because I'm afraid you wont call,
As you're my everything, after all
I'm just fearing the worst
Because I think I'm cursed,
trying my best not to misconstrue,
I've never met a women,
Near as perfect as you.
A love song I wrote. About being scared to tell someone you like them.

But most of all

Fogged Clarity
Ryan Holden Oct 2017
So again I made a fool of myself
only to fall at the last hurdle
scraping my heart on the way down.

It's funny really...

Like I should have known how it felt the last time.

ha, I never learn.

What's to say this blistering
heat that burns day by day will **** me?

What's to say I let it just because
I've become accustomed to the pain?

Because if I'm not clear, despite the eagles eye of cupids arrow that was a direct hit, I'm afraid I'm out of arrows.

I was a fool...

I couldn't give myself, to anybody else but you.

So I threw the rest away, I was almost certain, I had finally marked your skin, with the only heart I had to offer.
A story about a man who loves a woman very much but she doesn't believe him.

My hands are together praying

Whilst I watch the unforeseeable
Perish into ashes of wool-gather.

Yet you were the bloodiest cut
I've ever been prescribed,
Poison drips from your skin
matching the sap from weeping willows.
