Insidious
Kwamé Jun 2019
She says,

I'm yours till the sun goes down

Moments later

The sun is gone and

the darkness consumes me.

my mind goes numb,

And I can feel myself unraveling.

How long until the light comes back,

how long until I feel alive again?

The night is good every now and then

but for now I can't wait for it to end.

So until the day comes,

When your love is no more sporadic,

A ball of lighting, that

Zaps and explodes

in paralzying light,

my heart will ache,

I know, I know.

Sober
Kwamé Jun 2019
You know I quit the ****,
Poured out all the liqour.
All I really need
Is sunshine in the morning.
Because the
fuzzy feelings you
Give me,
Make me wanna
stay sober.
So I can ensure
That the memories I have of you,
Are never fuzzy.

Blink
Kwamé Jun 2019
You're a streak of lightning
Thrown by Zeus,
from Mt Olympus.
Burning with passion and heated desire.
Streaking across the night sky
Blue lightning, you never stay for long.
One flash, illuminates the sky,
Filling me with excitement,

                           then gone again.
Nothing lasts forever

Kwamé Oct 2018
You're absolutely horrible
Unworthy of my time
You hurt me
Too often
Your lips flap
And out escapes
Hot air and lies
You don't love me
But for some reason
Everytime I plan on
Endin the chapter
You encourage me
To start another page
I'm not afraid to love, what fears me the most is not being loved

We're all chasing the same thing
Looking for someone to take the pain away

I paid attention and saw what you were going thru.
You hoist all this pressure upon yourself
and I dont know why.
You'll never make it to the mountaintop,
If you dont share your burdens.
You've tried many times
and I know you're tired of starting over,
So let me be that becaon of hope,
Your lighthouse during stormy seas.

And she says
I know you're trying,
And I really appreciate the effort,
But begone boy, you'll never
Understand me

Happiness is getting the last slice of pizza
While sitting atop the leaning tower of Pisa
It is stepping in fresh new snow
Or watching your favorite show
It's ice cream on a hot summer day
Or being first at the buffet
The smell of new shoes,
Being told good news
Its getting a new hairdo
But above all,
happiness is within you!
Many people find it hard to rely on themselves as a source of happiness. It is possible to find happiness inside yourself.

Forbidden Fruit
Kwamé Aug 2018
When I'm with you
the world
Stops spinning and time
Ceases to exist
Little branches
Covered with hazy bits
Earth wind fire and water join
Forces as we journey to nirvana
Aroma of skunk fills my nose
The smoke is thick and soothing
Our time together is forbidden
And that makes it so much sweeter

Angel
Kwamé Jul 2018
I once wanted to live underwater but how long could I hold my breath?
I now seek a place on that mountaintop
Just grow a pair of wings and soar high in the sky
Skimming through the clouds
As I wonder,
How high can I fly, before destiny intervenes
And I suffer a fate no different than Icarus?

Ensnared
Kwamé Jul 2018
Prisoner without a cage
Soul forever trapped
Confined to a lifeless shell
Devoid of emotion
Slowly I waste away

Endless nights dreaming of escape
For this is not the life I chose
I don't believe in that higher power
For who would trap me here
Like a caged bird
Doing tricks for crackers

I'd rather be exploring Astral Plains
And wander lusting for knowledge
Than stay here another moment
Around people sippin the Devils potion

For this brew is awfully potent
One sip fills you with wrath and rage
As you begin to rattle my cage
All their minds filled with green

As they do anything to fulfill their greed
And begin to gorge themselves
Like glutinous giants grilling in Grenada
Never getting their fill

Lusting after thick thighs
And supple *******, doing
Anything for that 2 piece meal

Envious eyes eying everything in sight
Boasting that selfish pride, as your
Inner voice says that can't be me
He's talking about
You yes YOU

As you sit smug with your
Body shaped like a circle
Due to years of sloth like behavior

Don't worry about me I know
I'm different, I don't belong here
I know that
We are nothing more
Than temporary beings
Gone in an instant

Seeking the meaning of
Our existence
What is my purpose?

I guess I'll never
Know why I'm on this craft.

Devilish
Kwamé Jun 2018
If I ever see you again,
I'll close my eyes forever
And keep your image cemented to my eyelids
If I ever hear your voice again,
I'll record it and lock myself in an amphitheater
Play it on repeat till the end of time
If I ever touch you again
I'll offer myself to the covenant,
Your sweet embrace will be the last thing I feel
If I ever love you again,
I'll dance with the devil,
For no woman can be this sweet,
A succubus in disguise

No Shade
Kwamé May 2018
And if I'm being truthful
I'm not the biggest fan of the sun
This bag old ball of gas sitting
millions and millions of miles away
Clamoring for my praise
I don't know how else to say it.
The sun can be so...
Suffocating.
It's tentacle like rays reach across
Vast distances
Leaving burns on my delicate skin
The sun burned me to a crisp

But let me tell you about rain
The rain is wise
Drip drop
Pitter patting on my head
Rain is calm and honest like a buddist monk
Or it's can be furious and relentless,
A torrential downpour whipping at you from every direction
But even when its angry
there is a passionate honesty to it.
Somehow I know that the rain is neccesary
It's wet embrace leaves me feeling happy
Sometimes we need a stormy day to wash our sorrows away
A little rain to give me a break
from the ordinary.

Caught Up
Kwamé May 2018
Caught you running through my mind
But I warn you,
It's a dangerous place to get lost in
I see you watching me
My eyes got you in a
Trance
But before you look away
I ask you
Would you leave your secrets
In the palm of my hand?

Black Rose
Kwamé May 2018
They say a rose by any other name will still smell as sweet
But what about another color
Will a black rose still captivate the heart
And remind you of love?
Or will it be ****** doomed and cast away
Its aroma enchant you and fill you with lust or will it remind you of death and decay
This ***** is strong
Its stems carry the burden of people forgotten
This ***** is dangerous
Its thorns stab and *****
In the name of vengeance
Vengeance for every rose cast aside for its imperfections
This ***** is beautiful
Its petals flawless and noble
A red rose thrives in the sun and wilts under pressure
But the black rose
Grows in all conditions
Plants strong roots in concrete
and despite the odds
I rise!

Passion
Kwamé Apr 2018
Time and time again
I hear mumbling,
Rumors of someone,
Planning on settling
Down

Waking up early,
Finding an apartment,
Applying to school,
Getting that promotion

As soon as this check clears
Once I get this job,
When my car gets fixed
I'll get it done...

It cannot be
Ignored

You should feel that
Inner rumbling
That burning
Desire for success

But it's simple
You got it
Or you don't

Tinderella
Kwamé Apr 2018
I'm too old for fairy tales
Don't entertain me
With myths and tall tales
Of a fair maiden that
Awaits a top a castle
In a land far far away
Chivalry is dead
And you killed it

With this catch and release,
Find a mate, toy with them,
And when bored cast them away,
cleanse your hands with bleach
And forget they exist
I should count my blessings
But this obsession with all
This shame and rejection
Got me playing memories
Like this on a loop
Previews of purgatory

LOST
Kwamé Apr 2018
These days don't feel the same
I don't know who I am anymore
I mean I once knew but that was some time ago
Knew where I was going and what to do
Now I don't have the slightest clue
I look in the mirror and see a kind stranger
With the slightest resemblance to me
But he's missing something
Doesn't have the right spark
His flame extinguished
He says he's me
But I can't remember
Like a dementia patient
My memories all gone

Solo
Kwamé Mar 2018
Nothing burns
Like a cold heart
Let bygones be bygones
I know I broke your heart into pieces
But I know you believe in fate
And I know if I play my cards right
You'll be mine

And she says boy, haven't you been listening?
I told you time and time again
Kind gestures are appreciated
And you do make me smile
But this girl is flying solo
And even though I know
The answer,
I ask her why?
And she says I'm not lonely
I'm alone

M.I.A
Kwamé Mar 2018
I tell her
You been gone for a while
Why you keep disappearing?
She said I hate having to choose
Between being heartbroken
Or feeling nothing
Because I always choose
To be numb
And know it's wrong
Cuz I
Fell hopelessly in love
with the idea of you

Times with you
Were sweet escapes
From the madness
I call life
I've built walls
And kept my distance
But somehow you got past
My guard
Who knows where you'll end up
When my story is said and told
And I know that I've been told
But at the time I couldn't let you go
My heart goes cold
Because I know I've
Lost you to
Ghosts of my past

Hollow
Kwamé Mar 2018
A soul hollowed
moans out in hunger pains,
Lusting for sins
from ****** souls.
Sin infested boy
Holds cold steel
and fires a hot bullet
that was meant for me.
Lost his soul, no chance at redemption.
In a vain attempt to cleanse my sins,
I take my soul to kitchen sink
Pour out 2 cups of bleach,
1 cup of faboloso and I scrub and scrub
And scrub till my fingers bleed and my skin turns raw and YET!!!
My soul remains as black as the devil
Pierce my heart and it doesnt bleed
See I've gone numb to the madness
My heart's turned to stone
and I've become cold blooded
I can see another ***** **** a brother
In the heat of the moment and watch as he becomes lost in the madness,
Consumed by the darkness
when will this madness end?

How can we stray so far from the light,
And still hope to see heaven?

It's never been "just" poetry.
Its self expression.
It's art.
It's comfort.
Writing my feelings,
Putting it into words
Detailing life's milestones,
Time's I've felt
My life was essentially,
drained
Emptier than the
most empty well
in the Sahara
But also the
Times my life was full
And overflowing with joy
When my heart
Expanded with love
And inevitably exploded
Into heartbreak
you were here
 to pick up
The pieces.
Without you,
My mind would
Slowly begin to
Unravel,
Become bogged down
With poisonous thoughts,
And
Self defeating prophecies...
This is why I write

Midnight
Kwamé Mar 2018
We only smoke at night
Why?
She says,
Curiosity killed the cat,
Be patient or cut me loose.
Ash falls from the blunt
Hanging from my lips
I forgot to pass it
She takes a hit
Her chest puffs and her eyes water
She begins to cough and sputter
U been holding it in way too long
Let it out
And she says
Are you gonna let me down?

Smoke me
Kwamé Feb 2018
Bic flics as you
place me
between your fingertips
Guide me to your lips and
INHALE
Taste me on your tongue
Before you cast me out
In a cloud of smoke
And watch me disappear
French inhale
As I swirl around you
Bring me back in
For round two
