The Red and White In You
addy henderson Sep 2016
We are the States of Hypocrisy
We are the States of Democracy

Well Outsmart
Well pull the people a part
Well rot their hearts
Because they are a piece of art

They are tacked
They are tracked

But what if they met their pride
the art of the most abstract?
Our only way to counteract
Is to divide
and extract

This is the end

Within time i cope
addy henderson Dec 2015
You'll meet your darker side
Standing by your side
Counting up the lies
And the lies you've denied

He'll show you the end to the start
And all the times you crossed your heart

In the blink of an eye
You'll remember the lies

They'll turn into needles
And multiply in two
Because the devil may cry
When his end is near too

Time has a Master
addy henderson Dec 2015
I continue to cry
Until both of my eyes dry
I say time will fly by
Then I talk to a guy
Who said he came from the sky
He's tells her how time moves past her
And it's In a blink of an eye
The eye that blinks faster
Because When time is involved there's always a master

Define: love
addy henderson Sep 2015
love
It means the glue to whatever makes up you,
It is the number unimaginable but you already knew,
It is like a birds eye view of the outside of a zoo,
It is your break through.
It is the memory of why you are what you're put through
Love is who taught me to be me and you to construe,
So when he falls you dont fall too,
My name is meaningless; a loose glove,
It means nothing without love.

Timelines
addy henderson Aug 2015
I'm surrounded by timelines
where milestones are just money
but they're paying a large fine
living an irony that's not funny

Hey, your heart, soul, and mind
could you leave that behind?
I mean it's okay
with these pay days you'll be fine

Those stacks will make you blind
so find your bliss in every rhyme of mine
and keep with it
because even if my two cents were a dime
words can't transcend time
your soul clicks like a clock
that you can't rewind

You're about this life
but it's not about you
fame cuts with a knife
when it gets less new

On the road less traveled
angels wait in silence
but on the roads unraveled
the demons are your guidance

It might be well lit
when you're sulking in a pit
but within time this life is a slit
and your life is more fit
think about it
were you given one just to buy ****?

Being on top is priceless
the day your body buries
your tomb will rest with the best
but that's all you've ever carried
One of my favorites

The Possibilities of You
addy henderson May 2015
Like a siren who can't sing
Or a bird with one wing
Theres life in your bones like stones of moss
But your meaning is far lost

Theres you and theres me
But two we cant see
Our eyes are only physical
Our minds are two dimensional

A mind is a prison
That only grasps memories
Theres no true reason
With no true realities

Possibilities have no limit
Like our space that carries light
A body breathes a last minute
But spirits destroy time in deaths might

Devil's Flute
addy henderson May 2015
I blare my conscious mind
but stay mute
Im a forest sunset with a fading glare
Rummage through my thorns tear apart my roots
in the center a void is there
Playing aloud is the devils flute
And it will strip me bare
From the top of my hair
To the tip of my boot

Lovely Thorns
addy henderson May 2015
A rose doesnt surrender
Until the day it mourns
Youre oppressive but tender
Like flowers grown with thorns

There will be winds you dont know
And the rain may pour
But in time your roots grow
And with mine you have more

If picked from a forest
i believe youd still flourish
For every second that passes your spirit surpasses

When your clouds begin to cry
I pray you pay it no mind
behind every grey sky
There is a light you will find

Epiphany
addy henderson Jan 2015
I've come to the realization
that my heart I've held in a basin
can be opened instantly
unwillingly: my epiphany

For all the time I spent
being stolen so guys can look through me
selling my time and affection in debt to my knee
for all the effort they were applying
I won't sell unless you're buying

I'm containable like catching sand in a holy can
when I'm slipping through the cracks in your hand
I feel my rocky chest expand
as you can grip me again just as planned

To say I'd **** for you is more subtle
for millions die each year
I'd move you to Mars with only a shuttle
and visit every star that's near

My element has tangled with water and earth
but I never knew fire and fire could give birth
to an entire forest of flames
and still be tamed

A fool jumps ahead to trip on their own feet
but i'll keep falling in love with you
if you're still the concrete

Inside These Shower Walls
addy henderson Dec 2014
Consider an upright pavement covered in tears
Engulfed in several drops of liquid that's clear
They trickle downwards through gravity
Can get stuck in cracks
Or go faster through humidity

No matter how fast or slow
They all have one place to go
To the end
Where the body of water flows

As they trickle down
A single drop can manifest another in its path
If it gets too immense it's divided in two
Who travel a different route until another act of math

However,
There's always the drips of liquid
Not too small not too big
Who stay in one place
And are missed by the other drop's trace

But on these shower walls
Oxygen laced with hydrogen continues to fall
There's no room for isolation
For every square inch
Is covered in beads of liquid

Surrounding me with the four corners
I scratch the tiles to my left
Four lines with the tips of my fingers
Leaving to my right,
I do the same and turn back left to see what lingers

There was no trace of me
Because the flow of activity

So possibly
If we continue to surround ourselves in energy
Like the drops of animation
There would be no room for manipulation
Only room for movement, growth, and separation

If I could be God for just a night
I'd change the globe to this pavement that's upright
And every drop of you would be alright
I got the idea of this poem from sitting in my bath tub in the shower

Two
addy henderson Nov 2014
Two
Im always conscious of your ten fingers
nine in the morning and that touch still lingers
you're the eight ball that conquers me
if you fall
seven days of the week
I faintly hear you speak
for the six missed calls
id **** to return them all
the five stars in the sky id multiply
just to get you by
four walls never felt so strong
when they reflect what you speak as a song
those three words always felt so true

two

Goodnight
addy henderson Nov 2014
I would write
a thousand rhymes
a thousand times
if my words could chime
through your mind
to remind
you to unwind

when your mind is upright
theres no need to fight
turn off your light
and dont invite
your thoughts tonight

Goodnight, my love

Without You
addy henderson Nov 2014
The blood that runs through my veins turns blue
When i imagine an hour or two without you
For youre my muse when i lay awake
When my head begins to ache
My body it trembles as a thought of you lingers
From the back of my neck to the tip of my fingers
Without you the seasons have no end
So ill follow you through every crack and bend

Holes
addy henderson Nov 2014
Stumbled across a soul
Whos been trapped in a hole
saying its been raining for months
this world is on a hunt
and my life is in front

I said the sky holds balance between the moon and the sun
to keep us sane when one is overdone

The oceans clash while the earth stands still
like conflicting emotions against your will
we all have clouds to shadow the sunlight
to rain on our pavements toward discovery
varied elements fighting for your land
unable to stand you bury your head in the sand

Fate can seem friendly when its knocking at your door
youll soon find out life's an attention *****

Dont give in to it's desperation
remember youre the reason the earth spins
you dig your holes to fill the core with animation
dont let it drain you of reasons to breathe in

Fill your gap with milestones
so you can mount to the top
leave those craters empty of you
but full of the broken impressions you drop

So the day someone else falls too
they can trace the good intentions you drew
Keep your head up and dont continue to dig yourself in holes

Whatever O'clock AM
addy henderson Nov 2014
My eye lids lift before the sun
Enveloped in sheets covering from the cold that leaves a sting on my feet
Day breaks like these where my good intensions and supressed memories meet
My pillow sinks propping up the weight of my past
My bones subside in my skin for as long as it will last
I close my eyes again but they roam in black
As if ill dream away in an instant but ill consider that pack
Smoking one for ease
One for release
Just two more please
The smoking doesnt cease
Till im curled back in my sheets
Its whatever time am
When i cant stop thinking of him

The earths rays shine a line through your eyes and reflect through mine
How those eyes lock me in a bliss i cant miss
How those lips touch it ain't much but its enough to mend a crutch
Between you and i there isnt an amount of rhymes to express our lifetime
With your bony knees and mind at ease theres nothing more compatible than these
When i have a chair to sit and a mind well lit itd be a shame for us to split
When im your light to guide but its hard to stride without your heavy breathing by my side
For youre an oceans tide that opens wide
And im the moon that sings you the euphoric tune at noon

World on a Pin
addy henderson Nov 2014
The world is simply a ball on a pin
A sudden tap to collapse the universe
Waiting to be set up again

Waiting for when
Theyll make it worse
Losing composure to be tilted off the pin

World of artificial zen
Carrying out a curse
To knock it off the pin again

There will come a day for men
Attemping to immerse through a spiritual verse
But find theyre still tacked by a pin

Two four six eight ten
Times the perished world meets a hearse
Again, again and again

Finishing with amen
To try to reverse
The plummet of the world on a pin
Once again

Angel Who Flew
addy henderson Oct 2014
Minds collide when his eyes slide to mine
I say "take ride and guide my journey is you by my side"
He replied "we'll chase and stride with fate to make you my bride"

Tour our heels on unsatisfied thoughts of suicide until were musty-eyed
Terrified, his hope is crucified
but revived with my palm alongside Flowing chills down his backside

If i were an angel who flew I'd break through faded blue with you

Flashback to nights his guard was tight
Rewriting slurred words with deceitful delight
Saying "i'm alright" when his thought's in black and white

Despite what was right she excited a spark to ignite
Expecting that over night her might could cite the words to end the fight of the black and white knights giving him false light

He said "I used to be an angel who flew
I withdrew once you glued the wings that carried you"

Lost Girl
addy henderson Oct 2014
A being of promiscuous essence
found dead yet unrest-less
saying it's the anchors on the edge of my bed
weighing me down at my feet

A body of displeasure
something else tugged her to defeat
her dress presents a sentimental smell when it slugs to the ground
but her depth goes unexplored

Are these even the eyes I've called to mind?
or did you set them on the rest of mankind you come to find?

She holds onto past memories
kissing intensely just to feel something
leaning in harder and crying for affection
that will leave her asking: Why

Why must all the guys pull my thighs yet deny my eyes?
I promise that girl has many things to give
I promise there's more to why she lives

Morning Woe
addy henderson Oct 2014
My cup of joe drank with woe
that you know
we all know
the nostalgic taste of bitter sweet presto

Problems pour
fill my cup
until i'm up

Down the liquid quickly
before it overfills
poison that's more sickly
when washing down your pills

Learned to cope without that cup
departed that rope
with my face up

Morning shattered my window
I fixed it
keeping it closed
but the day doesn't quit

I've come to understand
light is inevitable
a snap of the hand
at a beeping nightstand

Drunken Home
addy henderson Oct 2014
He built a foundation that he would later destroy
I saw the oppression of a man overflow and
seep onto the carpets of an abused home
I heard it drip one by one onto the floor
until incapable to feel a sense of comfort

I carried the burdens of a child who was torn
from her purity on my charm bracelet
I followed the mysteries of the dark cracks in the kitchen floor
like a religion

the slap of the door frame sends corruption
down the spines of the Drunken Man's descendants
The call of the child is an empty pitch attempting to cite
the right words to call her savior to save her

the steps in the hall left mud tracks that tread
on their minds any time they hear the crowd in the corner
whispering words of security
but what i witnessed was a loss of that

I stop by the drunken home
I touch the crisp memories of the burned frame

Military Return
addy henderson Oct 2014
Oppressive winds carried among the nightfall sky
aloneness dried the atmosphere
infection slips in windows
romantic thinking numbers sleep time
Henry vanished before military return
his satchel keeping love letters
photographs that presented wounds
but his march was a necessity
Power from simple handguns land on mission's soil
tunnels presented dead grunts from the high rising fire
a week after his love brought her life

Children often remember Kelley
killing stress with magazines, empty men and brandy shots
her ******* pounded for days
but her heart was fatigue
that cross patted her neck which carried black mysteries
lips that presented silence
a beloved brown made up new most days

Guys often kissed her squeezing out security
dangerous men fancied her
some laughed like they understood
said they would fill their hats of other "working" women making new found glory through washed up love

She said my handgun holds power presented at my feet:
one shot to feel the dead
that shot remembered every night before bed
i was given a set of words and told to write a poem using only those words
this is about a woman who lost her husband in a war

Devastation of Spirit
addy henderson Oct 2014
My skin creeps toward self destruction
my heart gnaws as it pounds every beat
my soul is petitioning for reconstruction
whats lingering that isn't dead is incomplete
You bonded me to an eternity i don't deserve
a prospect to ethereal for my sinister kind
sweet, satisfying sin wrenches my every nerve
rescue yourself from woe; leave my vulnerable essence behind
I longed for a dance with you at my redemption
to embody me in your embrace of tranquility
but your strain on me has softened
your perpetual tenderness requests my stability
God, if you're listening i'm guilty i'm the one who forswore
please allow me to grieve abandoned with my humility
Although i vow you'll habitually be the one i ask for
don't feed into my nightmares with your mercy
I want to dream alone
Your flawlessness is a persistent reminder that i'm unworthy
I'd rather sink in immorality than throttle your throne

When it's my day to die
bury me in a glass case
so you see the part of me that devastated you and I

Please forgive me for I have sinned
resign from me you're chasing the wind

Sonnet of our Generation
addy henderson Oct 2014
Knowing that history repeats itself
and to define a fool is also repitition
Theres madness stacked in minds of many on a shelf
mankinds unordinary fatal condition

Our generation is falling
while temporal worldy attainment rises
Technology renewed us into babies, crawling
to the new updated components that buys us

So blend up the world and fit it in your cup
i hope you choke on the faithless future that fuels you
Dont get out of bed dont wake up
when you dont know how to

The spirit of this race was depleted
when the disease of identities was treated

— The End —
