Sinners
Marthea Flores Oct 2021
she lives inside a cage,
but he wanted her to fly.

he knows it was deranged,
but she wanted them to try.

they know they couldn't.
they know they shouldn't.

they both know it was misdemeanor,
they both know they were sinners.

poetry is she
Marthea Flores Oct 2021
she was a poem,
and you were the poet,
a poet,
who could not read poetry.

You liked me, i loved you
Marthea Flores Oct 2021
You liked me first,
I loved you first.

You liked me,
I loved you.

I used to like being liked,
till I don't,
because I love giving love,
but not receiving it back.

Falling
Marthea Flores Aug 2021
I'm falling.
Not in love,
not out of love.
Just falling.

If you don't understand what this means,
that's what I'm feeling too.
I'm falling.

Broken Wings
Marthea Flores Feb 2021
You pushed her so hard,
to fly as high as she could.
As high as the mountains,
as high as the stars.
You pushed her so hard,
though she can't,
till she fell and broke her wings.
Now, her broken wings
could never fly,
can't even reach the tree,
she always dreamt to be.

The Brightest Star
Marthea Flores Feb 2021
once there was a guy
who made a girl his star

too afraid to lose her
too afraid she'll go

walking nowhere, holding her hand
asking if she'll stay forever

she just looked at him and said
yes, until my last breath, my love

the night sky is shining so bright
as he pointed his gun on her

good night my brightest star, he said.
i'll meet you in your dreams tonight

Love for Sadness
Marthea Flores Feb 2021
Let me tell you the reason
why I fell for you...

I have never met anyone
who understands me
as much as you do.
The overthinking, the horror,
the darkness inside me,
the teardrops for no reason.
My love for sadness,
longing for it on my good days
and wanting to die for it
on my bad days
then longing for it again
and again, and again.

Dead Poet's Tomb
Marthea Flores Feb 2021
I had a dream of you and I,
layin' on a dead poet's tomb
playing our song, watchin' the stars
and wishing one would fall into us.

The Flower
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
You were born a seed,
tiny and weak.
Planted in soil,
dark, lonely and cold.
Mind filled with thoughts,
tears flowing, watering each quote.
You'll start to grow,
you'll learn to stand,
and feel the warm sun touch your hand.
Your leaves will drive you
to all that's worse,
then you'll bloom as a flower
with the power of words.

Seasons of Love
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
Waves are crashing on a sunny day,
my love for you grows day by day.
Leaves are falling; autumn wind,
my soul is falling without a hint.
Colder than the winter snow,
my heart is freezing, you didn't know.
The spring will come,
our flower will bloom;
an endless cycle, we'll be home soon.

Once and Forever
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
You held her hand,
I held my pen.

You kissed her lips,
I kissed your photograph.

You loved her once,
I loved you forever.

Sea Shell
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
He gave her the sea,
when he as the ocean.
He gave you a sea shell,
when all he has was a sea shell.

Rewrite
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
Our story isn't a poem,
nor a novel to be written.
We can not rewrite the chapters,
we can not rewrite our story.
Only if I could,
I'd write a happy ending.

Steps to Moving On
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
One, close your eyes.
Two, take a deep breath.
Three, let it go.
Four, take a step forward and never look back.
Five, know your worth.

Remember, there is someone out there who is worth fighting for.

The Barefoot Wanderer
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
Her restless feet,
take her somewhere;
where she can finally meet
the sky and the ocean.
For years she've been waiting;
barefoot wanderer longing for
sand and sea salt,
sunsets by the shore.

She
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
She
She can't explain how she feel
every second by your side.
She seems like the happiest
around your arms.
But she's the loneliest
behind those eyes.

The Golden Cage
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
A little bird
trapped in a golden cage,
fed with precious jewels,
diamonds and pearls.
Had everything
anyone could ever ask,
except for one thing
she can never have.
--- Freedom.

Sunset Eyes
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
I watched the sun set by your side,
never knowing that your sunset eyes at night are drowning ocean in disguise.

Rendezvous
Marthea Flores Mar 2019
Those hazel eyes flashed against mine,
it was a blink of an eye,
felt for the first time.

Can't hold your hand,
nor kiss your lips,
my whole world turns around our eclipse.

A silhouette love,
it's just me and you.
You are my little secret,
a secret rendezvous.
