You think you’re hard ‘cause you threw me in a cold cell?
You think you’re cold ‘cause you giving me the hard sell?
You’ve shown your cards and this game is getting old.
Hell, you just mad ‘cause I’m ******* wit’ your cartel!

Huddle up, cover up.
I’ll call your mother up.
Ask her if she’s proud of her son
Then we’ll snuggle up.
Make another little pig squeal; hit the double-up.
Pack a bowl, lean back and we bubble up.

Another day in the life of a citizen.
Getting chased down by the pigs
‘cause we dissing ‘em.
Wool in your eyes?
That’s their lies.
Don’t be missing ‘em.
Always spoke the words of the truth,
Now I’m spitting ‘em
and I don’t need no introduction.
Please, no interruptions.
Quiet down! We’re here to talk about corruption.
You’ll make a copy, right?
Free for reproduction.
These ******* think that nobody can touch them:

Shouting HANDS UP!
Yeah I see ‘em on the clock.
‘cause your time’s running out.
Tick, tick tock.
You want a witch hunt?
Put me in the dock
And we’ll see who’s the ***** when
You’re ******* on my ****!

‘cause I’m gonna rid your face
Of that smug little grin.
Convinced the world I’d lost it.
Oh! But I’m about to win.
So little pig, little pig, let me begin
‘cause like an anorexic hospital my patience wearing thin!
I said…

Prosecution full of lies and irrelevance
***** please! Don’t insult my intelligence.
You want respect? Well excuse my irreverence,
But a little birdie said you’re fabricating evidence!

Beneficent, benevolent.
Arresting your malevolence.
I’m shattering your elements.
Establishing a precedent.
My work may be inelegant.
My actions are unhesitant.
But when we gonna talk about this ******* elephant?

You know it’s tragic
How you cannot see the logic.
******* neurons are nomadic,
Your intelligence sporadic.
    Ugh!
You’re an infection, I’m the,
Antibiotic.
Sick enough to turn a man
******* spasmodic episodic.

Drink swill from your buckets
While you steal from our pockets.
Red pill. Better **** it cos you’re,
**** out of luck.

Deep-roots to your habits.
Blue suits to the Sabbat.
You’re Masonic yet moronic,
And you know I’ve ******* had it
With this *******!

Cos you’re full of ****.
Forked tongues set to stun with a full clip.
You’re just a bully and
I’m sick of all your school ****.
Law unto yourself
But I won’t let you enforce it,

‘cause I came to rescue an angel,
Heaven-sent,
and I can smell what kind of **** this is.
Yeah, it’s evident
You’ve been intimidating witnesses.
Like FGM.
You kidnapped Themis and Astraea
And circumcised their ******* – is

This a ******* joke?
Are you for real *******?
It’s the Devil you invoke.
What’s the deal *******?
This a dreadnought you provoked
And I’m steel *******!
Now it’s time you ******* spoke.
Take the wheel *******…

What, you got nothing to say,
And it’s too late to pray?
Justice coming your way,
Now truth has entered the fray.

So I’m passing the mic
‘cause we gonna indict.
Focus the limelight.

******* be ammonite!
Thanks for reading. This is written about AVON AND SOMERSET POLICE in the UK. Rated as no.2 most CORRUPT force in the country. Bringing malicious prosecutions against me to protect their own. Everyone's got something to say.
But they don't listen,
'cause they don't care.

Just want to softly slip away.
As moonlight glistens on the ocean,
the Mother whispers in the air.

I tried to leave it all behind.
Lay the past to rest
and free myself from pain.

Don't know how I could be so blind!
They'd never let it be that easy.
So they destroyed the plans I'd lain.

It doesn't matter now.

All the bridges are ablaze.
There's nothing left of what I knew.

I guess it's funny how I told you

"I won't desert you."
I never meant to hurt you.

-

I want you

to know that I'd do anything
to hold you one more time.

Your beauty is the only thing

I need you

to understand that you don't have
to be the things I see

to hear those words from me.

I love you...

-

But everybody's got their games to play.
I stand on the sideline,
forever watching from afar.

Why would you believe the things they say?
Do you remember when I'd hold you
and we'd look up at the stars?

You told me that you longed to feel again.
But every time I brought that closer,
you just moved further away.

You used to say I take away your pain.
But now I just seem to burn you
with every word I say.

-

So I want you

to go and find your calling.

To spread your wings,
chase freedom without falling,

and I need you

to understand that I could live without you.

It's not about you.

but I love you

to smile the way you do
each time I'm with you,

and there's still so much more
that I would give you.

I'll relive the joy we've had
each time I close my eyes.

No future and no past.

I love you
Beautiful creature, there are no words...

"This evening I sat by the river
and watched the sun set on the hills.
Now daylight's long gone, I don't shiver.
Wrapped up in these boxes of pills.

Don't know if I took six or seven.
The wine's gone and it's getting late.
But I'll be on that first flight to Heaven
and honey you know I can't wait"

-

As she shines down on the world far below
she will smile, 'cause she knows
I'll be reading her letter.

But she couldn't tell me that she had to go.
Ask me why; I suppose
that I'd never have let her had I known.

- -

Well since then I've seen eighty-odd seasons.
Now I know how you learned to fly,
and I guess I agree with your reasons
why I couldn't have my goodbye.

It was never enough to adore you.
When I couldn't repel the attacks.
There was nothing my love could do for you.
It was cruel to keep pulling you back,

-

and so I sit here where you watched the light fade.
You've been gone for so long
but I finally get it,

and all I can hear is the promise I made
to stand tall and be strong.
But I'd never have said it had I known.

- -

Now I feel like I'm not far behind you.
I take one step closer each day.
But there's someone here who's just like you,
so I think, for the moment, I'll stay.

When I close my eyes I still see you.
Not forgotten, and never replaced.
But sometimes I swear she could be you
when she puts that same smile on my face.

-

Had I been blessed with your wisdom, I know
I'd have gone with you there.
It'd be for the better.

Can't wait to rest, need to let this pain go,
and I say I don't care
but I'd never have met her had I flown.

- -

She thinks she doesn't deserve me,
that she can't be what I say she is,
and I can't find a way to make her see
there's nothing I could want more than this.

But soon she'll be far in the distance
when I've said my goodbye one last time,
and I don't understand this resistance
to my plans, now I've made up my mind.

-

When I was lost, alone, battered and scared
there was nobody there
to show me it was worth it.

Now suddenly they're pretending to care.
But I've seen through their stares
and I'm leaving this place they call 'home'.
Clinging to positives was all for nothing.

Look kindly upon us
As we stand in your shadow.

Limbs outstretched,
Calm but forever reaching,
Searching,
For new things untold.
Prospering in unison.

Unspoken harmony.
Sharing,
Communicating
Not through words,
Nor war, nor wares.
But through feeling and knowing.

Loving in purest form.
Ever-embraced,
Entwined as one.
Everlasting.

Take back what is yours.
But look kindly upon us
For the few will stand tall in your honour,
And your world will rest once more.

Hey,
are you happy?
You say you're happy?
I see your plastic smile!

Don't try to tell yourself
that you can't see me.
You can see,
and I've been here a while.

I've seen generations come and go.
I've watched the embers glow and fade
with every failed crusade.

Well-meaning souls drawn down devil's path.
Each further than the last.
Never learning from the past.

But you made your choices.
Turned salvation to incarceration.
Ignored the voices
of the ones who awoke first.
Those who braved the jaws of fear,
while you sought to sate your thirst
for the empty affirmation of your peers.

You hold inside your hand
the key to a new world.

             push the button

It's not too late to make a stand.
But don't let yourself be fooled.

The masters of technology are feeding you your fate!

              push the button

              push the button

              push the button

So lap it up.
**** at the **** of your destruction.
Fill your cheeks with satisfaction
from the sickly residue of all your sins,

and with every interaction
you fuel the chain reaction
that feeds the fires of evil deep within.

When will you wake up?
How will you make up
for three thousand years of ignorance and shame?

When your time runs out and the cycle starts again,
you'll only have yourselves to blame!

              push the button

I see you pointing at me now. Look! You say.
But you don't understand why they don't see...

They're blinded by the lights
as they post and like,
swipe left or right.

So I'm just out of sight.

When gold gives way to silver
and the world's gone off to sleep,
Darling there's no need to shiver
beneath your cotton sheets.
I know your heart's empty
and you feel so cold inside.

As you try so hard to rest those weary eyes.

Let me show you how to reignite the flames that burned so bright.
Help you grow to find the strength to oust your demons from the night.
Girl I know that I can lead you from
the darkness into light.

If I could be with you tonight...

My love could be your lullaby.
My love could be your lullaby.
Darling there's no need to cry.
              It's gonna be alright.
Let my love be your lullaby,
              tonight.

I know it's hard for you
to feel safe with me.
I know too much...
know how to touch you
         where it hurts.
But I just want to sing your melody,
and it sure helps to know the verse!

Let me feel your heartbeat next to mine
now baby, open up your mind
and let our bodies intertwine.
We'll be frozen here in time.
You feel my touch, you close your eyes
and feel my passion burn inside.

Then just lie here with me tonight.

Let our love be your lullaby.
Let our love be your lullaby.
Darling it's just you and I
              and we'll be alright.

Our love will be our lullaby,

              tonight.

I could publish a book of the things that you've done
to hurt me

You keep me on your hook but there's no way I'd run.
Don't desert me.

I know that for you, it's all about you.
But please don't let me go!

For at least I can feel each time you run me through.
Your cold steel's all I know.

- -

You're in control.
You've captured my soul and there's no escape for me.
For I want to belong, any way that I can.
I don't care if your love is fake (baby).

- - -

I'm every woman.
I'm every woman who can't accept
that a man should be kind.
So I'll follow behind you. Head down.
It's easier just to be kept in these chains.

-

Nothing remains now but the ghost
of the woman I could've been.
My friends turn away from me
yet still they grieve
as I fulfill their prophecy.

Some say I'm a prisoner of my own device.
Well maybe that's true
'cause I never think twice before
coming back to you.
Running back to you.
I belong to you!

- -

You're in control,
and so I extol virtues which I know you don't possess.
They think I'm blind, but I see
every moment with you as a test
I fear I'll fail.

- - -

I'm every woman.
I'm every woman who can't believe
that I'm better than this.
Just one kiss
from your poisonous lips
and I fall to my knees.

-

So open the door to my cell and I'll walk right in.
They say this is hell
but for me it's just home
and it's better than being alone.

Alone...

You're in control!

I'm guessing you think that I'll always come back
so you dish out the insults and launch the attacks
without stopping to think "Should I treat him like that?"
then you question the reason I finally snapped?

"If you'd just told me calmly"... you say, with a tone
that suggests that the fault was all mine, not your own.
As if you don't recall that you left me alone
and then told me I'd hurt you, and switched off your phone.

I'm guessing you think that I'll always be there
when you feel like you're drowning and gasping for air,
so when I reach out to you and tell you I'm scared
you just make me feel guilty and show you don't care.

"I can never give you what you want!" you reply.
But that's not why I said it, and so I ask why
you're reminding me of it, with tears in my eyes.
You've no time to explain 'cause you're out with that guy.

I'm guessing you think that I'll always return,
so you don't even bother with trying to learn.
You just tell me you care when it suits you, then spurn
me, then take a step back as you watch it all burn,

and you all stand in line, and you laugh as I call
out for anyone who's left, anyone at all
who can show me I'm wrong, who won't make me feel small.
Yes, you'll all stand in line and you'll laugh as I fall.

A whole lifetime I've spent being told that you care.
A whole lifetime I've spent making good things to share.
Then the one time I reach out, there's nothing but air.
No arms held out to catch me, none of you are there.

You're off with the ones to whom you give control
over all that you do, over your heart and soul.
You told me I'm the one who made you feel whole.
But you've taken with you all the things that you stole.

You've taken my trust and you've torn it to shreds.
You've stolen the good memories from my head
and left me with nothing. So let it be said,
that you can't take my life, for I'm already dead.

That person you all took for granted is gone
now forever. So goodbye, farewell, and so long.
But the shell still remains as his body lives on,
ever-drifting downstream like the widowed old swan.

Separated from faith and from hope once again.
Hatred and disappointment are all that remain,
so you'll all stand in line and you'll watch with disdain;
blaming me, and not you, for you're all just the same!

Now I look in the mirror and all I can see
is the face of a stranger looking back at me.
Just as I see in you, and now I can forsee
that he'll stand in line with you as you all decree

that I always deserved to be left far behind,
and you'll hail this a victory in your own minds.
Celebrating the day that you managed to find
the 'strength' to walk away. But I wonder, in time,

if you'll ever look back and see that you were wrong.
If you'll see it was me who was right all along.
But no matter, my voice is drowned out by the gong
because time's up already, and I'll be long gone.

I'm guessing you think that I say this in spite.
Go ahead, think what you will, believe what you like,
but the truth is while you're sleeping soundly at night
I'm still lost in the darkness, as you were the light,

and you vanished as fast as you came, and so cast
me into the world of shadows, into the past.
But the consequences of your actions will last
for eternity and this pain won't be surpassed.

So go, stand in line with the rest. Follow suit.
They will welcome you, history's newest recruit,
and you'll feast on a banquet of poisonous fruit
borne from the branches of what you impute.

The tree, of a seed planted long, long ago.
Firmly rooted, as old as time. Ever it grows.
It shall never be felled, I am sure. This I know.
So please do me a favour and let's both forego

all the lies, and the promises which won't be kept.
Let's not add to the tears I have already wept.
Don't pretend to me that you've not already stepped
past the point of no return, this I will accept.

So you'll all march in line and you won't hear my call
as there's nothing to say to you, so I withdraw.
Now my memory fades and soon you won't recall
that I ever existed.

I'm nothing at all!

Clockwork
Ben Meraki Mar 2018
Ay!
We grew up on the block.
Torn clothes, holed shoes, no socks.
Young boys tryna make it to the top.
On the corner selling flake and pushing rock.

Each morning another body drops.
Street soldiers; battle never stops.
No warning; raided by the cops.
Little sister screaming in her cot.

Life goes on. Get over the shock.
Loose lips get silenced by the glock.
Ain't no-one speaking on the dock.
Need green so we hustle round the clock.

Quick raid but we didn't get a lot.
Hear voices tellin' us to stop.
Look back, see my brother gettin' shot.
No choices. This is all we got.

-
We grew up on the block.
-

Now as our brothers lay dead,
as the world burns around us
just like my father said
and the fighting surrounds us.
We cover our heads
from the cops as they pound us.
But unbroken, we swear
that we'll never back down.
We will not live in fear.
We shall never be bound.
We're the kingmakers here.
We're still running this town!
So whilst we shed a tear
for the ones in the ground,
we'll make the rivers run red
and the bullets rain down.

-

But as we lie here tonight
still sleeping on the floor
I just can't help but think that
there must be something more.
You ask if Mummy's come home...
just bailffs at the door.
Little sister I'll protect you.
You're the one thing I adore.
You can't be living like this.
You're just a little girl,
I swear I'll find a way out.
I'll build a whole new world
where you can be anything.
You'll be incredible!
We'll make our mark in history.
We'll be indelible.

- - -

But right now I gotta go.
Don't let anybody in.
Got a hook-up for the blow
and another little thing:
We got raided at the grow.
They think Micky's gonna sing.
So we're putting on a show
and we're taking care of him.
-
They got him in the van
but it's gonna be OK
Uncle Sammy's got a plan.
They ain't gonna get away.
Gonna light the ****** up.
Muthafuckers better pray!
Ain't nobody going down.
He won't see another day.

- - -

So little sister don't you fear.
Not long til I'll be here.
I know you're hungry baby.
I hear you loud and clear.
I'm always right beside you
even when you think I'm not.
I'll always come back for you
baby you're all I've got

-
cos we grew up on the block.
-

Hey little sister can you hear me?
Oh baby, please don't cry.
You know it hurts me so much
to see tears in your eyes.
I know you can't forgive me
but I swear I didn't lie.
I was gonna change things for you,
build us a brand new life.

I never saw it coming,
thought Luther had my back.
I turned and saw him running
before the world turned black.
I'm glad you got some money.
I knew you'd find my stack.
You know it's kinda funny...
it says 'Brother' on my plaque.

-

Cos that's a joke, right?
It should say 'Failure' or something.
It's up in smoke.
Life's ****** up for you, I bailed on you.

Running with those guys was stupid.
I should've stayed home with you kid.
Now you're grown up and your new kid
cries cos there's still no food!
-
It's all my fault. I'm sorry.
I know that doesn't help.
Words can't buy clothes for Lori
or put food on the shelf.

I wish I'd held you longer
before I went away.
It might have made you stronger
to fight another day.
-
You tried to stand on your feet.
Tried to pay your own way.
Working two jobs with no sleep.
I'm so proud of you!

Hey, don't be so ******* yourself
cos you got back in the game.
You were born into this hell.
You didn't cause all this pain.
-
I loved you so much baby
since I stood by your cot.
I'm still right here beside you
even though you think I'm not.

I wish that we could just find
a way to turn back the clock
but still the cycle continues...

cos we grew up on the block.

Tonight I fly away.

Need to take some time,
find a way to leave my pain behind.
Touch down on pure white sands,
step out to the promised land.
The lasers shine,
the music plays.
I find myself back in my church again.

I feel it flowing through my body!

So high, my eyes are hazy.
The whole club's going crazy
and though the lights are blinding
I could swear I see you smiling
back at me.
How could it be?
How could you find me?

Has fate brought us together?
I didn't think I'd ever
see your face again
but here you are now
plain as day my friend.
Don't know why I left you behind.
You were always on my mind...

You were always on my mind.

So let me take you by the hand,
take our next steps on ****** sands.
We'll burn our flames,
erase the pain,
light up the skies again.

So hold me now in ecstasy.
Forget the world, just you and me.
Just like the way it used to be.
We'll watch the sunrise on the crystal seas.

Tonight we'll fly away.

Wedding bells
Ben Meraki Feb 2018
Is this what you wanted,
what you imagined
the day those wedding bells rang?

Where is the man I fell in love with?
I miss the magic.
I miss the days when my heart sang.

-

We said we'd keep our love alive.
Our flame would never die.
Forget the world. Just you and I.

We told the doubters they were wrong.
Every day we'd sing our song of love.
I haven't heard it for so long.

- -

Through tear filled eyes,
beneath the sound of slamming doors.
I still see and hear the echoes
of the day you made me yours.

So tonight I make myself look pretty,
put on that dress you bought me,
try to remember all the
lessons that you've taught me.

I sit and watch the clock
til I hear your key turn in the lock.
Outside I hear the rain.
You smell like her again.

This food is cold! You say.
The candle's burned away.
You've got that anger in your eyes.
I try to fight the urge to cry.

- -

This isn't what I wanted,
what I imagined
the day those wedding bells rang.

You're not the man I fell in love with!
I miss the magic.
I miss the days when my heart sang.

-

Then comes the thunder and the lights go out.
Over the ringing in my ears
I hear our daughter shout my name.

I try to stand but it's too much for me.
Through the pain and tears
I look up to see you leave again.

- -

Jessie doesn't understand.
I try to tell her it's ok.
I take her by the hand.
Let's get your toys so we can play.

Why's Daddy angry Mummy?
Is it something I did wrong?
No. No, it's not you honey.
Come now, let's sing your favourite song.

I should've seen the signs
I should've listened when they told me.
All the times
you used to put me down and scold me.

I tried to walk away
but every time we had the talk.
You always had something to say
or made it out to be my fault.

- -

We said we'd keep our love alive.
Our flame would never die.
**** the world! Just you and I.

We told the doubters they were wrong.
Every day we'd sing our song of love.
I haven't heard it for so long.

- -

Someday I'll find the power
to rebuild my tower.
I'll stand tall again.
Find someone to buy me flowers

and Jessie, you'll be all grown up.
You'll be learning about love.
I hope you find that magic
that I've been dreaming of.

Don't ask your Mummy for advice,
for now my heart is cold as ice.
But baby come back for me
if there's still life left in my eyes.

She doesn't understand.
I smile and say she will someday.
She takes me by the hand.
"Let's get my toys so we can play"

Same old
Ben Meraki Jan 2018
I don't really wanna talk about it.

I think it's better if I keep it to myself.

Sometimes I could really do without it.

This kinda thing's just no good for my health.

-

Because again and again
I tell the same story,
and I know it's a shame
but there's nothing that you can do for me.
Being alone don't scare me.
I'll just kick back with my friend Mary.
-
It's the usual drama.
The same old skit.
Another boy let me down
but I'll get over it.
I'll just pack another bowl
and get a clean hit
of this high grade ****.

- -

So don't ask me if I'm OK.
I don't feel any different to how I did yesterday
and it didn't matter then
and it doesn't matter now.
I just wanna numb the pain
and I don't care how.

- -

Oh Mary! Mary-Jane.

I got the real life blues again.

So take me away, let's fly.

Nothing matters when I'm high

I was happier
than I'd been for a long time,
yet still I missed her.
I don't have so much time to write at the moment. Yet, as I've found it to be my best way of understanding myself, I've decided to write at least one haiku per day which encapsulates a particular emotion I felt during the day, in the hope of keeping track of my own mental state. So I thought - for the sake of science - why not document it publicly?

I'll be tagging all of them with 'Daily Haiku'. It may last a day or continue indefinitely.. who knows.

Predictive text
Ben Meraki Jan 2018
Games on the phone with me,
even if we're going to the promised land.

Lasers shine on my mind.

Fresh flowers delivered to the promised land.
Yet we have a nice evening, and that makes me really think
that anything is possible.

But I just wanted a lot more of the world.
Even if multiplied,
by the end she hated me.

So don't look at the end of days,
but the truth about the paperwork
with a friend's little girl

who was having a good night out.
With the exception of Hannah.
But I just wanted a lot more emphasis on my mind.

You left it all behind.

Everything we built together.
Other than the red carpet
and upholstery cleaning services in my dreams?

**
I often play predictive text tennis with my close friends. Tonight I thought I'd see if my phone could write poetry. It didn't do too badly. I just added line breaks and punctuation.

Lost soul
Ben Meraki Jan 2018
Tear-stained pillow.
Crimson sheets.
A broken heart at rest.
A troubled mind at peace.

Weeping willow,
mighty tree.
No longer bound by your own roots.
Fallen yet free.

As the river takes you on your journey.
The machine that cut you keeps on turning.
We are but single grains in the shifting sands of time.
A flame that burns and fades in the blink of an eye.

I've been waiting for you here.
I'm your protector, have no fear.
My darkness hides you from the demons.
No pain, no anguish. No more reasons to cry those tears.

You lie so still now,
wrapped in velvet sheets.
Photograph clutched to your chest.
Snow-white cheeks.

A smile that never fades.
No furrowed brow.
Those emerald eyes no longer betray you.
All's peaceful now.

Don't grieve for the ones you left behind.
They all will understand in time.
Those who loved you most take comfort that you're free.
Your ever-youthful ghost lives on in memory.

I've been waiting for you here.
I'm your protector, have no fear.
My darkness hides you from the demons.
No pain, no anguish. No more reasons to cry those tears.

Weeping willow,
sacred tree.
No longer bound by your own roots.
Fallen yet free.

I will ******, I will torture.
I will see that evil thrives.
I'll reward the men who inlfict pain as
women beg for their lives.

I'll persecute the innocent.
I'll let the children starve.
Whilst good men struggle to provide,
I'll put the crooks in charge.

They say you're good and loving
but I, for one, know the truth.
Mankind could thrive had it not thought
of manifesting you.

So gaze into the pool of judgement.
Take a good long look.
Never before or since
was so much war spawned from a book.

You did not write its chapters,
yet they all still bear your name.
We all are your reflection Jesus.

I woke up this morning
with you on my mind,
and fresh memories
of another perfect night.

I'm in heaven when I'm
spending time with you.

There's nothing on this Earth
that I'd rather do.

Outside the rain's falling
but I don't mind.
Because anytime you're around
the whole world looks so bright.

You make me feel alive,
like nobody else ever could.

You make it easy for me
to see the beauty and the good in this world and so

- -

I don't ever want what we've got now to end.
Above all else, you're the perfect friend,

and like a deer, anytime you appear
in a perfect scene,  you can still add the finishing touch.
When you're here anything that I fear
melts away - and you know how I feel girl - I love you so much but..

- -

It doesn't matter if I can't keep you to myself.
It doesn't matter if I gotta see you leaving with somebody else.

I still want you on my side
in this game they call life.
You're the piece that's been missing
for all of this time

and it took me so long
to work out what was wrong.
But I'd never have known had you
not come along, and so...

It doesn't matter if I can't hold you in my arms all night.
It doesn't matter if I cant wake up to your smile in the morning light.

There's so much in this world
left to do and to see.
It could only be better
in your company.

So though I can't pretend
that my heart will relent,
it's OK.
I just never want what we have now to end...

My perfect friend.

Illusions
Ben Meraki Jan 2018
We've been betraying our children for generation after generation,
government turned state education into indoctrination,
media no longer speak the truth; experts in fabrication.
How the **** am I supposed to show allegiance to my nation?

Fascists masquerade as liberals to silence anyone
who disagrees with their agenda, will the day never come
when people wake up and realise this **** just can't go on?
There can no longer be Right and Left,
there's only right and wrong.

Immigration, regulation, European legislation;
fighting over **** while they indulge in self-congratulation,
laughing in our faces while we're running the rat race.
Working fifty hours a week to put food on our children's plates.

Do you really think they give a **** about democracy?
Do you think they care about the suffering of you and me?
Do you really think that anything is what it claims to be?
All you have to do is open up your eyes, it's plain to see.

It's an illusion.
It's all collusion.
Make no mistake.
Let there be no confusion.
There's only one solution.
This is my conclusion:

We need a revolution!

#
When the tide begins to turn
will you flee to higher ground?
When the sky begins to burn
will you lay your weapons down?

Incarcerated in our own land
yet we keep them on their thrones.
Emancipation only comes by our own hand
then together we'll atone.
#

Don't want to do this by the bullet, the blade or the bomb.
If we use violence then we're giving them what they want.
Any excuse for the use of firepower.
Send in the troops whilst they regroup up in their high towers.

They won't hesitate to slaughter us like animals,
and so it's evident that we need a new kind of war.
But if necessary we will still take it by force.
This is a New World Order we're fighting for.

Our greatest weapons are our minds and our eyes now.
We need to read between the lines, see through the lies now.
Draw the digital battle lines. We can rise now!
Are you with me? Had enough? Do you despise how

we're being asked to select our own dictators?
But if we refuse to elect you, you ******* **** takers,
and we can keep our resolve, with you repudiated,
you shall not be absolved. No adjudicators!

We're disillusioned
with this intrusion.
This is your fate.
This will be your occlusion.
Our world's reperfusion.
Inevitable conclusion.

Hail the Revolution!

Sweet little thing
Ben Meraki Jan 2018
Sweet little thing.
Her smile brings all the joy
that life could bring.
She found herself a boy.

He said he'd love her,
said he'd take care of her
and hold her. He told her
he'd never let her go,

and so she let him in.
She gave him everything he wanted.
She was haunted by his touch
and she did so much to show

-
Bridge
she wanted him to keep her right there by his side.
Protect her, respect her,
and make her feel alive.
-
Chorus
She felt such a lucky girl.
Knew he could change her world,
take the loneliness away
and brighten up her darkest day.

But her mind was young back then.
She didn't realise that when
he'd taken everything
he'd find himself a new sweet little thing.

Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh. Ahh-Ahh.
Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh-ohhh

Verse 2

Three years gone by.
Time to mend her shattered heart.
She meets a guy;
says he's looking for a brand new start

but he's been hurt before
and he don't want no more
surprises. He disguises
his loneliness with laughs and smiles.

She's much stronger now,
but she's still learning how
to trust again, she never wants
to feel the pain she felt back then.

-
Bridge
He says sweet little thing I'm scared as well,
this year I've been through hell.
But don't let life pass you by.
Don't let him be the reason why.
-
Chorus
Oh I'm so lucky to have met you girl.
You know you've changed my world?
You chase my loneliness away
and brighten up my darkest day,

Girl we belong together.
I promise you I'll never
break your precious heart.
So take my hand, let's make a brand new start.

Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh. Ahh-Ahh.
Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh-ohhh

Coda
Sweet little thing you look so beautiful tonight.
With flowers in your hair, dressed in your gown of white.
Give me your love and I will give you everything.
A small price to pay for all the love and joy you bring
sweet little thing.

Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh. Ahh-Ahh.
Oh-OH-Oh Oh-OH-Oh, Oh-OH-Oh-ohhh sweet little thing...

Double lives
Ben Meraki Jan 2018
When we were walking late that night,
do you remember? We were hand-in-hand,
and we got talking for a while.
Do you remember? You said you could take me to the promised land,

and then I looked you in the eyes,
and I held you in my arms. (Yeah I held you in my arms so tight)
I said I promise you that until the day I die
I'll never let you come to harm! (No I'll never let you come to harm)

[Bridge]
Darling, that night it felt so perfect.
Do you remember? like our love could never end.
Like all those years of pain were finally worth it.
But next time I saw you, you told me, let's just be friends.

- -
Those four words never hurt so much!
I'm still longing for your touch.
- -

[Chorus]
I know you told me...
that you don't want me. (No you don't want me)
So why do you hold me...
when I see you in my dreams?

(When I see you in my dreams)
you've got me feeling like I'll never be alone.
Like you'll always be right here with me.
I'll always have you by my side.

But in the morning light when I wake up on my own
I realise that things aren't what they seem.
Why do we lead these double lives? (Ohh-oh)

I know you told me... (Ohh-ohh-ohh)
that you don't want me. (No you don't want me, no no no)
So why do you hold me in your arms so tight
when I see you in my dreams?

- -
[Coda]
(When I see you...)
it kills me to think how...
you don't remember.
(You don't remember.)

Tell me where do I go now?
I don't remember how it feels to be alive.
I don't remember.

Faded
Ben Meraki Jan 2018
When I see your saddened eyes
it hurts me deep inside, but I try to hide it.
I think you want me to.
Perhaps it hurts you too..

But I don't think you know
just how far I would go to see you smiling.
I'd burn the world for you
if you asked me to.

-

I know that for you life's been hard.
You’re pushing through,
but you need a helping hand sometimes.

When I know you're down I want to
turn it around
and lift those weights right off your mind, and

- -

so, when you fall, I will catch you.
You won't come to harm
when you're in my arms,

and when you call, I will come to you.
See you through the storm,
keep you safe and warm.

- -

I've always tried to show you
that you're so much better than you think you are,
that he's no good for you.
But you don't want me to.

I know that I can keep you happy,
treat you better than he ever could.
You're everything to me.
If you could only see.

-

You've been the truest friend
but how could I pretend
that I don't want any more than that?

So I offered you my heart
But it tore me apart
when you just smiled at me and handed it back, and

- -

so, as my light fades to darkness.
You don't see me.
You don't see me,

and, as my voice fades to silence.
You don't hear me...

You don't hear me anymore

Sun, sea and sand
Ben Meraki Dec 2017
The ocean, made of purest blue,
hides perils deep within.
The scorching day of golden sun
will quickly burn your skin.

The desert dune, so soft and smooth,
Is merciless and cruel.
But the rugged cliff, though coarse and cracked,
will not make you his fool.

Sometimes he'll break and crumble
but he only has one face.
He's proud to be imperfect,
and you'll always know your place.

Though tall and strong, he's humble
and he listens to your voice.
If you call out he'll call right back.
When you sing, he'll rejoice.

He'll offer you a foothold
or a place to stop and rest
and, though sometimes he'll slip and fall,
he'll always do his best

to give you shelter from the cold
or hold back raging tides.
His caverns, seeming dark at first,
bear sanctuary inside.

In burning heat he'll give you solace
from the scorching sands.
When darkness falls, you'll know he's there
when you reach out your hand.

He'll hold you high above the world
and show you off to all.
He'll make you feel mighty
anytime you're feeling small.

Climb high with him and you'll be sure
the view was worth the risk.
All that he asks is for respect.
But you know all of this.

How then, is it so easy
for you to compromise
on what can satisfy your soul,
yet not so for your eyes?

Perhaps you can help me see
how there's a reason why
you'd give up so much just to have
a 'better looking' guy.

Generation Identity
Ben Meraki Dec 2017
We're the ones who walk these lands in darkness.
We don't want the sun to rise.
The shadows shield us from your madness
and hide the sorrow in our eyes.
-
As your fires burn around us
and you reduce the world to ash,
your mistruths and lies surround us,
and questions we don't dare to ask.

- -
So we dance in the lasers
hand in hand. We're the ravers.
Hoping love's gonna save us.
So we dance in the lasers.

We're the lost generation
with no borders or nations.
In synthetic elation,
we're the monster's creation.
- -

You know our world lay in ruins
yet still you choose to carry on
with disregard for what you're doing.
You won't stop 'til it's all gone.
-
Why should we clear up your disasters
when you can't even tell us how.
The time will come when we're the masters
so don't you dare to judge us now

- -
as we dance in the lasers
hand in hand. We're the ravers.
We will not be your saviours.
So we dance in the lasers.

We're the lost generation
with no borders or nations.
In synthetic elation,
we're the monster's creation.
- -

So we dance
and we dance
and we dance
hand in hand

and we dance
and we dance
and we dance
hand in hand.

Second time around
Ben Meraki Dec 2017
I know we talked about this,
and we agreed to just be friends,
and I don't mean to make things hard for you
by bringing it up again

but every waking minute
I still can't get you off my mind,
and no matter where I'm sleeping
I dream of you every time,

and I've been thinking about the good times,
all the smiles and laughs we've shared.
The thought of ever losing that
makes me feel so scared.

Lately you seem distant
but I hope that doesn''t last.
I don't want to ever think of you
as just somebody from my past.

- -
[Bridge]
Because I know that you're worth fighting for.
Don't wanna disrespect you,
you turned me down once before.
But I know that you're worth figh-ting for.
You're everything I need and more.

- -
[Chorus]
So give me a chance, give me a chance.
Take a gamble on me.
I won't let you down.
I won't let you down.

Take a look at you and him now,
just think about it you'll see
he don't respect you the way he should
or love you the way I could. (Oh no)

Because I know that you're worth fighting for.
You're everything I need....

I know that you're worth fighting for!

- -
Do you remember that day at the festival
when you first heard your song?
It was filled with raw emotion.
My feelings were so strong (and nothing's changed).

You said that you were lost for words,
that it was beautiful.
But it's nothing when compared to the girl
that it was written for.

(Ooohh) the deserts of Morocco,
the Alpine mountain dew,
the light that floods the Scottish hills
as the sun rises anew

are all but left forgotten
whenever I'm feeling blue
because the only thing I need
is just to turn and look at you

- -
[Bridge]
and so I know that you're worth fighting for.
Don't wanna disrespect you,
you turned me down once before.
But I know that you're worth fighting for.
You're everything I want and more.

- -
[Chorus]
So give me a chance, give me a chance.
Take a gamble on me.
I won't let you down.
I won't let you down.

I sit across from you now,
I'm right where I wanna be.
You make me feel like no-one else could.
There's nobody in this world like you

and so I know that you're worth fighting for.
You're everything I want!
You're everything I need!

I know that you're worth fighting for (Ohh-oh-ohh)

- -
[Coda (Softly)]
He's not the one for you.
Don't waste your time with him.
I swear my love for you will never fade away...

Message in a jar
Ben Meraki Dec 2017
Sometimes I feel like I just have to go away.
Only love songs on the radio.
Every verse, every bar, every beat
represents another teardrop to me.

But just when I'm about to give up hope
I open up a little message that you wrote.
Only you know how to melt my heart.
Only you can lift me up.

- -

Here come the tears again.
They're tears of joy my friend.
You keep me holding on.
Your kindness keeps me strong.

- -

Sometimes I feel like I just have to hide away.
Lock the doors and keep my pain inside.
Can't face the world, can't make myself take part.
So much to do, but I don't know where to start.

But as I close my eyes I see your precious smile
and I allow myself to dream, just for a while.
Only you can make me feel like this.
Only you can be the one.

- -

Here come the tears again.
Once more they're tears of pain.
You complete my world.

Home for Christmas
Ben Meraki Dec 2017
I look outside right now.
There's no snow falling.
Everybody's leaving town.
They tell me "Home's calling."

So i guess I'll do the same.
It won't take too long.
Start the car, I'm on my way.
But something feels so wrong.

They all tell me it's the best time of the year,
but nowhere feels like home without you here.

I sit and watch them all
unwrap their gifts and trinkets.
As I watch the paper fall,
I can't help but think that

I could be somewhere else,
somewhere I want to be,
with the sound of choirs and bells
and you laughing with me.

"Come on now, smile!" they say. "Get with the Christmas cheer.".
But it doesn't feel like home without you here.

I try to please them, hiding
behind my fake smile.
But each time I let my mind
wander for a while,

it runs straight back to you.
The only thing I want
is to wake up next to you
and hold you in my arms,

and so I raise my hand to wipe away a tear.
It doesn't feel like home without you here.

Nowhere feels like home without you here.

Miles
Ben Meraki Dec 2017
I love the way those beautiful eyes glisten in the sun,
The way you tilt your head when you listen to someone.
The way you told me all the things that trouble you.
How you consoled me when I felt so sad and blue.

But I'd keep walking for a thousand miles
just to see you smile.

I love the way you fiddle with just one strand of your hair
The way you look so good in everything you wear.
The way you sit and bring your knees up to your chest.
The way you clutch your sheets when you lie down to rest.

But I'd brave the ocean, swim a thousand miles
just to see you smile.

I love the way you go so far to be true to your friends,
and when we're down you always cheer us up again.
The way you laugh at all my silly little jokes.
The way you try so hard to look after your folks.

But I'd take a plane and fly ten thousand miles
just to see you smile.

I love the way you try to look so cute when you want more.
The way you greet me when I come to your front door.
The way you thank me when I buy you little things.
The way you always look at people when you sing.

When I'm alone, I often close my eyes a while
just to see your smile.

I love way I feel inside each time I see your face.
The way I'm made to feel so welcome at your place.
The way you're happy with the simple things in life,
and how when we differ you will find the compromise.

But I'd wait in solitude for my whole life
just to see you smile.

Because it always warms my heart to see you happy.
I think I loved you from the start when you smiled at me for the first time.

Your effortless perfection
fills my veins like an injection
of the cure to all my woes.
So I just wanted you to know

that I'd keep walking for a thousand miles
just to see you smile...

Just to see you smile.
To the one who changed my world beyond recognition. No words could ever tell you how much I love and cherish your friendship.

Bleak midwinter
Ben Meraki Dec 2017
Lost amidst the blizzard, no idea of where to go.
An endless veil of blinding white. No life, no warmth, no hope.
Then feintly in the distance, a warm and welcome glow.
A beacon that can lead my way to sanctuary, and so

I summon what's left of my strength and walk a line so straight.
I know I must stay on this path and never deviate.
For if I can just reach this light, perhaps I can create
a fire to warm my frozen soul, revive, recuperate.

I fear the glow will fade and I'll return to emptiness.
Perhaps this is my end of days. I failed my final test?
But no, it burns more brightly now and heat moves through my chest.
My frozen heart begins to beat, awoke from its arrest.

I reach out now to touch the light, to see if it is true.
Did someone see me lost inside, and try to pull me through?
My frozen fingertips delight, my eyes again shine blue.
The ever-reassuring sight of happiness. It's you!

For this and so much more I want to thank you and to say
that though the nights are so, so long. I know you'll bring the day.
I've told you many times before, there's no way to repay
this debt of gratitude I bear. But on this Christmas day

I wish you all the happiness the world could bring, and more.
For in your friendship I have so much to be thankful for.
When everything is bleak and senseless, only your discourse
can guide me through the wilderness. You are my driving force.

So take with you this sentiment wherever you may go,
and anytime you're feeling weak, I hope it helps to know
that if the blizzard closes in, I'll find you in the snow.
I'll tear right through that endless sheet. I'll be your warming glow.
Written for the very best friend I could've wished for
