ON THE ROAD......
Julie Grenness Feb 2017
If I could trade places,
Surround myself with new faces,
Maybe I could share my smiles,
With new friends across the miles,
To learn fresh customs and foods,
To acquire broader attitudes,
If we could all trade places,
There would no other 'races'.......

DARING DO....
Julie Grenness Mar 2017
This is tale of Daring Do,
Indeed, a true tale for you,
I was walking my fluffy dog one day,
Chanced upon an aggro dog along the way,
It assailed my little fur,
Really bad, not even a stir,
So I battled the Alsatian and won!
Saved my fur friend number one!
Yes, not bad for this old lady,
Walking fur under trees so shady,
That's my tale of Daring Do,
Indeed, a true tale for you.....

The vessel of our dreams,
A ship that's not as it seems,
The beauteous Earth,

Run by  powers-that-be's blip,
A ship that's not as it seems,

BUDDHA'S BEST....
Julie Grenness Mar 2017
I reminisce on  books I've read,
What, indeed, was the best?
Instead of dull contemplation of the ex,
Consider enlightenment as Buddha's best,
Some hard times put your faith to the test,
Maybe the Beatitudes was the best,
Let's not be drama mamas yet!
Keeping on smiling for a peaceful bless!

So much for giving people honey!
I just never met Mr. Right, I guess,

They think they're gifts from God above,

SURPRISE!
Julie Grenness Sep 2019
This poem brings a surprise,
Once I came home with bits of pies
In my hair, kids did what they dare,
Food fights all over everywhere,
All part of sacramental life,
Church celebrations full of strife,
No, I am not kidding,
In cream puffs we were skidding,
This Dracula  finally left the scene,
You try teaching all those tweens!

THE CASE FOR JESUS....
Julie Grenness Apr 2017
Way back when  in the sixties,
When we were young and nifty,
Me and Grandpa definitely believed,
I would love to ask him what, indeed,
In what did we believe?
Well, in the case for Jesus, let's say,
Original selfie, his shroud, Resurrection Day,
In hope, in Faith, in our power to pray,
In silent miracles, at Easter, and every day,
Yes, me and grandpa did believe, yah!
A healer was on Earth, still here today!

In life's journey, we can all  be taught,
I am tolerant, more than I ought,
I always aim for some rapport,
Whether it makes one a doormat, or
Someone kind and reliable, what's more,
People pleasing is a bottomless pit,
I've done a great job, no time for hypocrites,

Julie Grenness Feb 2017
Fresh is the air in the morning,
Flowers my garden are adorning,
Feral cats in the day are yawning,
Fun in your eyes I am adoring,
Friendship is our glory,
Full of maybe a new story,
Fantasies are for the creating,
"F" is the letter I am relating..........

IMITATION!
Julie Grenness Mar 2017
I pondered, alone, not lonely, like a cloud,
Is positivity still allowed?
I spied upon a distant hill,
A man who was a dipstick dill,
My kind of guy, I suggest,
I feel this poem does regress,
I keep feeding him, none the less,
I ponder on what is a man,
Not the end of the world, to him no hand,
I ponder, alone, not lonely, like a cloud,
Yes, other magic is still allowed.......

I'm never going to Golgotha again,
But I'm still here, blessings today,

TEACHERS!
Julie Grenness Feb 2017
What makes a teacher great?
With lots of kids, you must relate,
Cast aside your cares and woes,
It's like a stage, the classroom flows,
Look at things through their eyes, eh,
Make learning fun, but be firm each day,
Then send them home at the end of the day,
"Gee, I can't believe it's the holidays!":
Says no teacher ever,
Living legacies, really quite clever,
So, does that make a teacher great
With all those kids to relate?

Let's pray for freedom for soldiers,
Men and women, wheels to their shoulders,
May you all safely return home,
Grimly defending, do you feel alone?
No, we all hope there is peace one day,

All this romantic foggy haze,

Wifey flings open bedroom door,
Not gazing kindly, a picture she draws,
Wife blows her nose, her cheeks are a'rose,
Her husband lies there, full of moans,
Her husband begs,
Wifey  takes a breath,
"Yes, dear, I know you have a man-cold,
But, dear, I,  too, have a man-cold,
But women are not allowed to groan
or nag, says men, you are alone,
I, too, have a man-cold,
But, this washing is getting old,
I'm cooking tea and minding the kids,
No, dear,  I shan't make soup like your mother did,
Yes, dear, the undertakers are near,
Here's your last will for your man cold, dear,
Yes, dear, I know you have a man-cold,
Your whinging, is, like, well, old!

"What is a question, anyway?"
"Why ask questions?" Ask Socrates,
"We ask questions, to need to know,
Because we're all human, you know,
Brains overthinking on the go,
"So, what would you call beautiful?" I ask,
The philosophers debate this task,
To love learning, I guess,

Or to love wisdom and learning,
For answers we're all yearning,
