TO-BE'S ..........
Julie Grenness Oct 2016
I was writing my list of the To-Do's
Here's food for thought for me and you,
As well as a daily To-Do list,
What of a To- Be List, do you think?
Let's all be grateful we woke up,
And can quench thirsts with a cup,
For our family and friends,
Thanks we give with no end,
Let's be creative, if we can,
Be a living legacy, for all man,
Let's all be smiling faces,
As we go around diverse places,
Let's be peaceful and calm,
For those in need, be a balm,
Let's be supporters of all that's good,
Let's have good intentions, if we could,
So what do you all think of that?
A  To-Be List in a poet's chat!

IF I WERE......
Julie Grenness Oct 2019
If I were a world dictator,
I would make peace now, not later,
I would ban bombs and guns,
A new way on Earth begun,
Big dreamers start with dreams,
We could change the world, it seems,
We need peace now, not later,
If I were a kind dictator.........

DREAM ON!

Dream On!

All is not as it seems,
I see visions and dream dreams,
Our great Southern land,
To the world a helping hand,
A vast land of goodness,
In times that are ageless,
Our lucky land,
Despite issues not so grand,
Spreading Peace across the Earth,
Yes, what would that be worth?
All is not as it seems,
I see visions and dream dreams.
Dream on!

ALL GREY!!
Julie Grenness Mar 2017
I wear it like a badge of honour, eh!
I awoke this morning and dressed in grey,
The all grey colours of the club, let's say,
Bit of irony, when you're old and grey,
Must keep a sense of humour each day,
Let's hope we all have a kick **** day,
In a mild mannered oldie way!
The all grey colours of the club today!

AUTUMN'S PERSONA!
Julie Grenness Apr 2017
What is the persona of Autumn?
Of many things, it is a sum,
Of golden days, chillsome nights,
of fleecy clothes, planting in soil,
Of  rainy sodden, to drench our toils,
Autumn's persona is past middle-aged,
More like a golden oldie is nature's stage,
Grey afternoons, foggy morns,
What kind of day does this one dawn?

CLOSURE
Julie Grenness Feb 2016
Closure--"No hard feelings",
What's that, you're speeding!
Last words to end a marriage,
That's what you call a stoppage,
Talk about survivor baggage,
That was our cessation,
Mixed marriage of diverse nations,
Not exactly a happy ending,
Is that closure? "No hard feelings!"

ONCE WERE.....
Julie Grenness May 2020
Once were dinners a deux, you see,
Was it only a few months, or a century?
Once were schools abuzz with kids,
Teachers agog to see what they did,
Once were universities,
Alive with youthful dreams, indeed,
Once were pubs with beers.
Once were football here,
These are viral times, my dears,
Once were bushfires too,
A horror story for me and you,
Yes, Stephen King wrote this year,
Once were Oz fun times, not fears.

SPELL POEM
Julie Grenness Sep 2019
I cast a wish into  the world,
A message from a good old girl,
As  I wish for good intentions,
From a pacifist, I mention,
Make the best of every situation,
Step back from their manipulation,
Nasty makes negativity,
Let's hear it for positivity,
I am okay here today,
Are you okay this way?
Yes, we're both good as gold,
It's a ****** to be growing old,
So let's pray for tranquil ways,
Peace means calm, hooray!

A TRIBUTE TO ANTI-FOOTBALL!
Julie Grenness Mar 2017
Here is my tribute to anti-football,
We have a secret society, that's all,
Step One: Boil anything ritually,
Ignore football, you can cook tea,
Step Two: Play fave music good and loud,
The anti-footballers shall be proud,
Step Three: Do fave hobby for hours, dears,
While totally ignoring football, cheers,
But I'm thinking about football in this verse,
Could this be a  paradox, or worse?
Don't despair, any hobby will do,
Any secret coven of one or two,
Even, "Come and try my ales!"
Shhh, this is a secret, let's say,
Spread your anti-football germs this way!
SHHHHH!!!!

We're all in life's long race,
Pondering on a distant place,
Where we are spiritual beings,
Our souls free beyond dreaming,
No, we can't take stuff beyond,
Immaterial thoughts to wonder on,
Do you believe in the afterlife?
Why wait for peace, no strife?
If we all had a Peace day today,
The world could unite this way,
A distant place, how far away?

Is this Earth's future,
Drowned world, it seems,
Or only it dreams ........
A vision of the future, according to the prophets of doom.

Welcome to Home School today,
A typical mum might say,
We''ll start with Maths, okay,
First,  I have an empty glass,
There is 0 wine here for a blast,
Then I'll pour in half,
Before I top it up,
Now I have 1 whole wine to sup,
Home School does need wine o'clock,
For mums, not kids, quite a shock,
Stop laughing at Mum, okay,
She flunked Maths too, along the way,
Some Mums are not teachers, okay,
Now who farted? She's say,
End of home school for the day!

Could it talk in an ovine way?
Indeed, what would a plastic sheep think and say?

I assume a plastic sheep can think and say,
"I hope you have an awesome day!"

IS THIS BECAUSE....?
Julie Grenness Sep 2019
Long ago, in a youth now gone,
I spent hours at a pond,
A clay base , sun adorning,
Tadpoles swimming, half forming,
I spied with magnifying glass,
Frogs finally hopped at last,
Now, no frogs, cause no rain,
Is is all because of climate change?
So I ponder on such ponds,
Where have all the tadpoles gone?
That was our ecological health,
How can we restore our planet's wealth?
