1 The other day I saw a picture of you. Shirt buttoned up to your throat, Pants cutting off the blood circulation in your pelvis, Shoes shining brighter than the north star, And a smile being pulled across your cheeks Like an archer pulling a bow string. I smiled back at my computer screen. 2 I’ve listened to this album at least 30 times. I own three versions of it. UK deluxe, US deluxe, Target Deluxe. Everything about you is deluxe. Your eyes, your voice, your breath As it passes through the microphone and into my ears. 3 I believe in fate But not so much in destiny. I don’t scream at my reflection anymore And I’m described as independent. For the most part. I’m a pretty trustworthy person And I promise I’m not that desperate. 4 The music ripples through my veins As I whip my curls at the mirror. The hairbrush pressed against my mouth And I repeat the lyrics that roll past your lips so smoothly. 5 I can almost feel your arms Wrap around my waist before I go to sleep. I had a dream You and I were together And you were happy And I was happy And everyone was happy. But I know if my dream became reality No one would be happy. Jealousy would taint the spit on other girls’ tongues And the distance between New Jersey and Australia is too much. Even for me. 5 I can almost feel your arms Wrap around my waist before I got to sleep. 5 I can almost feel you. 5 We have the same eye color. 6 We have the same hair color. 7 I am just an insecure girl. You are taking over the world. You are stepping in the soil of every state. And you won’t look at me Longer for three seconds in the New York City heat. 8 I never thought I would be one of those girls. One of those girls Who latch onto a boy’s identity, Not knowing his soul But knowing his spirit. I’ve seen you three times. You don’t even realize. I try too hard and I’m convinced you notice this. 9 You are nine months older than me. In your eyes I am just a baby. My cocoon of pictures of you is the womb I am being baked in. You won’t follow me back on twitter. 10 You are just my celebrity crush But you have such an impact on me. Go back home. Let me rest. Go back to bed. I’ll have that dream again And I won’t speak of it And no one has to know of this Pathetic excuse for love I carry in me like a dead fetus. 10 You are just my celebrity crush. It was never supposed to go this far. 10 You are just my celebrity crush. 10 You can never love me The same way I love you.

Nucking Futz
It was a hand me down, An old Chevy that grandpa didn't need, It was just a little truck, But it would do, Blue and silver, with rust sprouting up here and there, A creaky tailgate, No ac, but a sunroof, Comfy seats that held you like a race car, The smell of dust wafting from the vents It had a little engine that needed work, It had old tires that needed to be replaced, A layer of dust that needed to be washed off. But I didn't care, It was my first truck! New engine, New tires, A deluxe wash at the co-op, And a black ice air freshener, This truck was born again. Spinning tires and dust flying, Rolling down the streets and tearing up the gravel roads, This truck purred like a kitten. I didn't care if people had bigger trucks, Newer trucks, Fancier trucks, This was my first truck And I loved it!

My First Truck
I have a blue blanket, it looks corduroy but it's synthetic polynesian cotton. Considered by some to be polyester. After the ninth year of ownership I started Telling house guests it had always been mine; but secretly knowing it came from my Ex Kristina who left it with some of her other things in 2005 in my grand deluxe Evanston Apartment. In like some really awesome way, I could fold the corners together to see little blocks Of the Universe form cubes in the fourth dimension and gain a better understanding of my own Little black shmata. Top drawer, white dresser, in the back with the leftover girlfriend underwear between My first ever stuffed animal dog/rabbit. Amazing how these thinned and frayed azure threads had held so many midnight conversations Together- maybe fifteen other girls had nuzzled with Kristina's blanket. Last year the guilt set in. You Watch a girlfriend, say, ratchet through your room naked for something soft to put over her to listen to Some half-stanza from the new Yeats critical and that, do-I-tell-her feeling comes over you. Blue Polyester really had a way with women. My last serious crush, the one of six months, the one from the place that was close to where I worked six days a week, would you believe, she had not interest in that heap of thread, under my pillows spying on us sleep for twenty-four long weeks. "Drop in the bucket" the sixty-year-olds say. I say, bring me my ******* fourth dimension blocks and cubes ************ I want to visit the existential, I want to experience the hoo-ra and Ga-Ga those kids throw around on Milwaukee waiting for $150 NBA slippers. Wednesday is my day for telling the truth. 2:00p.m. sitting in the front of her alizarin El Dorado. "I have something I have to tell you," I said, my mouth practically filled with marbles as I barely could Utter the words: it's not going to work out.

Slashers Defined In response to my piece, Slashers, it was requested that maybe I could reveal at least which band or other info these great guitar players performed for to gain their claim to fame. I don't want to spend too much time on this defintion, but will give what info I think is pertinent. If you do not know some of the names I have presented to you, and you are a blues, rock, jazz, fusion guitar fan, I suggest you take the time to listen to some of their work. I have included some of my favorite incredible fusion players that do not have a super star following, but are renowned in their group of fans, probably mostly musicians to some degree. If you are a frustrated guitar player like I am, do not listen to the likes of Holdsworth, Johnson, Gambale, or Morse unless you love being tortured. Anyway on with the show. Eric Clapton – Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos. Jimmy Page – Yardbirds, Led Zeppe, The Honeydrippers, The Firm Jimi Hendrix – not only what is, but, what could have been Alan Holdsworth – Solo jazz fusion player – hot Steve Howe – Yes, Asia - Progressive rock, jazz – Bill Nelson – BeBop Deluxe, Solo Terry Kath – Chicago (25 or 6 to 4) – another sad early departure Ted Nugent – Amboy Dukes, **** Yankees – The madman Jim Krueger – Dave Mason Band – solo progressive rock Eddy Van Halen – Van Halen Ritchie Blackmore – Deep Purple, Rainbow Jerry Doucette – Doucette (Mama let him play) Eric Johnson – Solo – New Age, jazz Frank Gambale – Australian- Jazz, fusion, rock Goerge Benson – Jazz Larry Carlton – Jazz, new age rock Marc Farner - Grand Funk Railroad Peter Frampton – Humble Pie, solo Joe Satriani - New age – solo Johnny A. - jazz, new age – solo Danny Gatton – jazz, rockabilly – solo Chet Atkins – jazz, country John Mayer – Pop, blues – solo Neal Schon – Journey Steve Lukather – Toto Masyoshi Takanaka – New age, jazz – Japanese solo Lee Ritnour – Jazz, new age – solo Leslie West - Mountain, West Bruce & Laing Monty Montgomery – jazz, blues (accoustic you have never heard) Wes Montgomery – jazz 40's – 50's Phil Keaggy – New age Christian Robin Trower – Procul Harem Brian May – Queen Rick Derringer – Montrose, Edgar Winter Group, Steely Dan Robin Ford – John Mayall, Chick Corea, solo jazz, fusion, blues Carlos Santana – Santana Ronnie Montrose – Montrose Steve Morse – Dixie Dregs, Kansas, solo jazz, fusion Trevor Rabin – Yes, solo new age Gomer LePoet...

Moons ago I smoked till the filter, Drank Johnny’s backwash And slept hungry. How can you know an empty stomach, Without dancing in Tampa for a buck fifty? What’s for breakfast? “cowboy killers.” lunch I asked, “Kentucky deluxe.” Dinner? “A bent Porto Rican kitten.” But people are seasons And springtime had come. Now it’s easy, but still stiff. In the end of the day. ehh.

MEMO FROM:  Mr Phil Indifrence,  Strategy Chess Insurgency  Corps. Space Headquarters, Castleview Avenue, Dunstable XY10 TO:  Ms Petal  Dontrun,  Crimson Chess Federation. De la Wigan Headquarters, Wigan, United Kingdom,  SM00 Dear Ms Dontrun, Please accept my greetings. I write to clarify my stance on our outstanding matters and hopefully to deter further speculation, gossips, rumours, distortions, misinformation and sensationalism by the media. As you are aware I contacted you on the day as arranged only to be confronted with a response that was astoundingly unethical, un- professional, rude, inconsiderate and totally uncalled-for. It was so below expected standard that it raised doubt about your suit- ability to be seen as a matured adult much less an intelligent being. Still in the reverberations of this seismic occurrence I called again in the hope it was a momentary loss of composure and yet again I was subjected to a deluxe version of the first onslaught. To say I was flabbergasted is putting things mildly, most especially as it was totally unwarranted and underserved. It was obvious you lacked any sense of decorum and had become an affront to common human decency and an embarrassment to your status. In all fairness you did call some weeks later, but it had become apparent that the ethos, protocol and cordiality that my Organi- sation works within may not be relevant to your Organisation, hence my unavailability to your contact. I write to primarily reiterate that my position on this matter and the present status quo is not based on some immature Ego play, stubbornness, power-play or pride, rather it's in all truthfulness it's a belief in upholding standards in ethical considerations. I do not believe that bad manners, ill-considered behaviour, ill-judgement and a lack of sensitivity and good grace are matured and progressive trends to interact cooperatively within. In conclusion, this is my stance on this matter and I hope it helps your understanding. I believe a formal Apology from you and your Organisation is appropriate in this regard and will instigate a return to cordiality between our Organisation. If you however feel this is unnecessary I will respect your decision and the situation will remain unresolved. I thank you for your attention. Regards, Phil Indifrence. C.E.O.

houses so close you can’t have sunlight without voyeurism but how can one resist this air of night’s invigoration her thick ankles can be seen through the lifted shade next to the beer and rumpled magazines on her coffee table it is 7:30, the kids are in bed, the husband, who knows? it’s pull-tab night at the corner bar, he likes that young girl who sells them flicker, it feels good to sit down how ironic that my long awaited silence feels so lonely flicker, maybe if i bought that he would look at me again flicker, do i even care anymore? *** is more work than it’s worth sometimes flicker, Jacque and Lisa keep me company, maybe i DO want the deluxe faux ruby necklace and earing set flicker, i wanted to be a ballerina when i was little my god this house has awfully low ceilings flicker, all this thinking is making me tired

Goodbye kiss to the day I'll miss. Put headphones on and select a song. Down the cobblestones until further decision. Division like the very fabric of football. Could choose my normal route to The Square, just four corners to take - a simple shape - see proud flags made of organic thread, all the colours I like will be on display. Although, what if I head down Butcher Row instead? Sure it's steeper down the shuts but I fancy my luck out there today. Before the leap, I see a wall so opposite to my position, it's hostile. How long have these concrete eyes watched on? I'm terrified and contemplate calling in sick, return to rich address and don't overthink. Then in each direction, groups meet at the centre. There's pointing and shouting and spit flying into hair that's in flames and ignites more people to march out deluxe doors left ajar as kids peer through windows above the obscenity. Hesitate to whisper, future back in that house, until I see bricks change angle. Thinking in pink. Shout loud about my background. Grab the handle of both sides. Point my crooked nose at the stone: 'Let's climb this together.' 'Peace and love forever.' Those at the back can't hear my speech. But those really listening cheer and preach. Reach for ladders or offer cupped palms. Touch the top layer but get knocked off by a flare thrown from out of nowhere. Hunt the culprit while the victim burns. Bodies clamber to sample some action like a mound of sugar infested with ants. Look back at my house in a peaceful daze. Turn to the melee and see a knife in my face.

I bathe in the cashmere moonlight The daylight fears what it does to me My skin bouncing off in all direction to match its glory- No! I will stay here under the worship of so many stars. I start my day at dusk So as not to startle the humans. My body, to me, has all the mouth-watering intensity Of a bran muffin I no longer lust after myself I no longer lust in general There are only dark fleeting moments of contentment As I shovel pasta into my temple- My body is a Burger King deluxe. There are no arches that I’m proud of. And how did it get like this I used to love what I am And now My body lies over a sea of ketchup. I don’t even eat the tomato-y stuff But I feel like I’m drowning in condiments I bathe in cashmere moonlight I take showers with my candles I filter my image with steamed mirrors And again I am the goddess I remember. My curves are smooth, my skin glows and my eyes have a hollow hallo of light to them. This is what light skinned Barbies look like What uncle sam expects of me- In a steamed mirror I Am a patriot for beauty. In the sunlight I Am a martyr for tuna sandwiches with 3 kinds of mustard.

A sweet song from a proud siren Summoned my diamond vision: Time's great obsession for us all To blossom into ice. The velvet wind Was a lure from a deluxe lover, A pentagram witch. Psychic lightning, Flaying a knack for sly power, Brought truth, like thunder, To a gambler's fever. At twilight, A storm carnival enchanted, Enhanced the wayward perfection.

Super Duper Love Slider Extra Deluxe Good Time Sundae BlastTM
I’m spending the Christmas holiday with Lisa and her family in NYC. My parents are finishing 2021 in Africa, with “Doctors Without Borders.” “Step” (my step father) is a heart surgeon and my mom is an anesthesiologist, so they’re a traveling, self contained, double-dutch, operating theater. Yep, now that they’ve shuffled-off the dead weight of their children - they can finally have some FUN. Here, in NYC we’re back in restrictive spaces as we face-down Omicron this holiday - but I still feel free. Our course work’s been dumb, but now we’ve escaped the strangling, slavery of tedious days - forget hours of reading, fact-sheets, writing essays, and solving chemistry equations - we’ve got 25 days of Christmas vacation! Lisa’s having a sleepover tonight, friends Will and Karen are coming up (Lisa lives on the 50th floor, they live on the 46th) and we have every distraction known to man. Tonight was supposed to be the building (220) Christmas party - a formal wear Christmas ball - with a live orchestra - but now (thanks Omicron) it’s an elevator party - we’ll go up to the 70th floor, pick up goodie bags and dinners then return yo-yo like, to Lisa’s. We can escape our interior habitat to a large balcony where it’s windy and 34 degrees. The sky is a clear black, like an inverted cup of coffee and the stars look French. The city lights dazzle like a billion stars surrounding the black hole of Central Park. Lisa’s dad is explaining to Karen (10), in some detail, how his shiny,  deluxe, outdoor barbeque - with it’s lid open like a radar dish, can detect reindeer and send updates to his phone in real-time - but Karen looks skeptical. I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, Christmas and that the reindeer find you wherever you are.
