Blackout
Megan Parson Jul 2023
We were drunk
He choked me
We couldn't remember
I stayed

I loved
He left
I remembered
I was silent
He would've died
From the guilt

I blocked him
He's my ex
I've forgiven
Not forgotten

I remember,
But I cry
no longer.
From an ominous night in April. When you realise the one you loved the most, was always the villian ©️ Megan Parson 2023

Maybe?
Megan Parson May 2023
Maybe in an alternate universe,
we worked out.

To
broken promises
&
unfinished relationships,
To
the
random stranger
you
lock eyes with
on
the
street,
And wish you knew.

To
the
smiling baby
in
a
lady's arms,
You wish was yours.

To
the
entwined fingers
of
a
passing couple,
which would have been yours,
if only he stayed.

But maybe?
Just maybe?

But hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have.
Edit : I'm so glad we never worked out.

Before the flight takes off
Megan Parson Mar 2023
Before the flight takes off
Before our ascent into the skies
Before I'm unplugged from the grid
Before I'm temporarily disconnected

I think about what I'll miss,
If the flight never landed.
I think about the goals unfulfilled
People unmet, sights unseen
Words unsaid, tears uncried
Emotions unshared, pain unfelt
Fights unhad, hands unheld
Stories untold, lives unlived

But most of all,
I think of you.
And feel
Hope.
Written on a return flight trip. A few moments of introspection.

The Rainbow
Megan Parson Mar 2023
Violet, like the bruises you've hidden.
Indigo, like the dark circles you've overwritten.
Blue, like the opinions they've seen zoned.
Green, like the jealousy you've known.
Yellow, like the golden cage you fly in.
Orange, like the red flags you've seen.
Red, like paint when you bleed.

Do we add colour to your life,
Or do you colour ours?
A women's day & holi write. Question is, can a few days make up for centuries worth of oppression? I hope we remember the women in our lives everyday, & not just on women's day. © Megan Parson 2023

Where do we go when we die?
Megan Parson Dec 2022
We become part of nature,
part of sunflowers & leafy stature.
By the running brook, quiet creek,
Like snowflakes on jagged peaks.

By sunny beaches, which the horizon reaches,
In wispy woods & pristine beeches.
Below the dark, cold depths of the ocean,
Which moon tides draw in motion.

Tis where my soul would go,
For solitude, no friend, no foe.
An alternative perspective on death. © Megan Parson 2022

Beasts in Reality
Megan Parson Dec 2022
I'm all she would like to be,
this fuels her blazing envy.
I'm all she can never be,
prolonged hatred & enmity.

So the obscurus ignoreth me,
casting seeds of blatant partiality.
Mental turmoil, choking humanity,
jealousy jolting the remnants of sanity.

Beware of the truth in entirety,
"Peculiar beasts exist in reality."
Inspired by the Fantastic Beasts movie, & a fading past of being the other woman. © Megan Parson 2022

Confessions
Megan Parson Jan 2021
~°~°~°~

The rosy bride didn't pace the hall,
Nor was there a wedding ball.
No bridesmaids, no flower girls,
Nor did I wear my mothers pearls.

For without the groom,
Playeth not the loud bassoon,
Tis the words that played,
While my heart like thunder relayed.

Melancholy, like Caesar, did I feel,
Piercing eyes, put forth the deal,
Closer to a faint, did I reel,
And like Calpurnia, I now kneel.

Hoping you'll read this through,
Hardly ebbing the feelings, I grew.

~°~°~°~

Commit I, what I detest,
& leave you culprit, like in Gone Girl.
Painful thoughts, my mind did protest,
To new ventures, it would whirl.

A letter of love & apology,
on the very last day.
bearing, like Juliet's analogy,
Concealed beneath the fray.

'What ifs' sadly got the better,
But letter, tis the right way!
Or so I thought, while my mind did fetter,
To take action, a letter will I lay...

Sans number or address,
To test you, cuz love finds a way.
But this too, did I redress,
The masts somewhere else will sway.

"Don't be so ******* him,
Leave your number deep within."
"No, no, that'll make him dim,
give not even the pin."

Yet another did say,
"Leave clues, in & out,
work em woe till the gray."
These nasty devils dashed about.

~°~°~°~

At last did I none,
But write this terrific pun.
I know you know what I did
last summer. That has rid,

All that went on for the past 3 years?
Reality had become my fears,
Alas you believe the deed is done,
But you're right, you weren't the one.

If you had the patience,
To read this till the end.
Sans showing indifference,
Gratitude, I do extend.

By now, far away I'll be,
If Shrek could reach, so could you to me,
But there's a reason, it's a fantasy.
So goodbye, cuz I see,
Life has bigger plans for me.

Truest Love
Megan Parson Apr 2019
As he left for war,
with fear galore.
On the lonely streets,
She waited.

As he grew weary of walk,
  weary of war,
  & cursed his fate,
  She waited.

     As he dreamt of her,
     each forlorn night,
     when cold birthed frostbite,
     She waited.

        When winter approached,
        & food scarce,
        By the dying embers,
        She waited.

          As spring drew near,
          The springs in her heart
grew weak. On her death bed,
          She breathes her last.

              With his hand in hers,
               He waited.
On a sombre note.

Once there was a file,
The file was used in a program.
Unfortunately, could never smile,
Digitally stuck in rolling RAM.

Wanting a life beyond the lab,
To be called more than just a tab.
Instead AMAZING, cool & fab,
Being able to dance & dab.

Tired of being cut, copied and pasted,
Duplicated, locked and wasted.
So s/he married a trojan,
And eloped, far from that dungeon.

To party with android & PUBG,
Feasting on apples & candy.

Living life in blissful entirety!
Bonjour my fellow poets & poetesses, i know its been long but my exams are finally over  *dab*  I wrote this poem in my computer lab, with the first 2 lines left behind by some kind soul. Love, Megan.

Ghost Train
Megan Parson Nov 2018
Do eerie screeches startle you at night?
Or screaming banshees, your worst fear highlight?
Sudden rumbling on a rusted line,
Flashing lights that freeze your spine!

A full Moon on a motionless sky,
Tis when steam engines haunt nigh.
Departed, are its crew & passengers,
A grandma, wearing her dentures.

Chubby children waving goodbyes,
Fixed with icy cold eyes.
Stuck in speeding time,
Urging me to write this rhyme.

Waiting for that day,
When the bogies no longer sway.

To do justice to you.
From being a friend so true,
To guessing or giving a clue!
Your humble spirit, earns dignity,
Frank speech, trusted honesty.

Deny not what I've written,

POST-DROPPER
Megan Parson Sep 2018
I once robbed a post-box,
& looked through letters, small & scented.
Of someone's aunt with chickenpox,
And bills handsome, from the rented.

Love letters, I had to read!
Which in boredom, my mind would feed.
Some which made my heart bleed,
An urge to send, a nervous need.

A good doctor's prescription pill,
& injections, with dread did me fill.
Thankfully illegible, so not my joy to ****.

But now, I must stop,
For reasons purely confidential.
As I catch the Postmans' beaming top,
His light bag filled only with what's essential!
A poem on a crazy idea....

Economics of Love
Megan Parson Sep 2018
You are like economics,
Your addictive touch, my unlimited want.
Forget our chemistry, physics & genetics,
But you, I just can't!

Ne'er scarce in relation to my demand,
You know my every mood & curve.
You alone, can my heart command,
As market prices shift & swerve.

I am normative, you positive,
Opposites attract? Tis true!
Our every action, cumulative,
Together, the perfect graph we drew.

Your utility, I cannot question,
You chipped away my unstable equilibrium.
Your every approach, devoid of confusion,
Insurance of our love, requires no premium.

Though our needs are ever recurring,
Our time, brief and limited.
Memories created are never-ending,
Opportunity cost for you? Never hinted.

You are the good, worst, better & best,
Most importantly, you are never a test!!
Written before my Economics exam. Why do we get inspired at such times, lol!!

Well, she looks like a witch,
Her pointed nose does twitch.
As she frowns upon the grocery list,
Then scrunches in a timely twist.

Bidding her straw broom,
Which she doth groom.
Hovers away into the gloom,
Over a pond she doth loom.

To frogs, rats, snakes and slime,
Quoth she, "All in good time!!"
Soon they'll be no room,
For the impending doom.

Her cauldron happily hissing,
As she adds to the seething,
Her black cat begins meowing,
After the rats, he begins running.

Slowly cooling the putrid portion,
She applies the lovely lotion.
The moles, warts and silver hair,
Disappear into thin air.

Her velvet apparel now lace,
Not a blemish does one trace.
Fondling her silky Siamese,
She heads home with ease.

To the little candy castle,
Awaiting Hansel and Gretel.

If becoming Tarzan, wmylm,
I'd do the stunts, in every movie.
If practicing magic, wmylm,
I'd go to Hogwarts to study.
If exploring the ocean, wmylm,
I'd invent the Nautilus, for us to flee.

If becoming Beyoncé, wmylm,
Jay-Z, you surely will be.
If living in fantasy, wmylm,
In candy castles, we'll live in ecstacy.
If giving you the world, wmylm,
Sherry Crow, I'll add to the symphony.

If a thing of beauty, wmylm,
A mirror mansion, I'll build sans vanity.
If jewels and gold, wmylm,
Zeuses bolt, I'll bring, forever pretty.
Enfin, if all you want is me,
I truthfully say, I'm ready !!

The Ryder
Megan Parson Apr 2018
The bullet rumbled to a stop,
Its black - clad rider at the top.
Dark glasses, leather jacket, youthful spring,
Majestic with the helmet swing.

The world round him, seemed to slow,
A playful glow, his eyes did show.
Entranced by the lady across the street,
Falling for her, advances he on quick feet.

The gorgeous girl but glanced around,
The knight in shining armour, did abound.
Returned rejected to his steady stallion,
Defeated in, the great battalion.

Her high heels, clicked in beat,
As the faint rumbling, reduced the heat.
If the prince, should ever find,
A scrawled number, in his pocket hind.

Would not we all, love to know,
What did follow !!!
For my friend who admires the Bullet bikes, and dreams of owning one :)

By Juliet
Megan Parson Feb 2018
With a letter to my love,
Flies away my pet dove,
Unbiased by what it contains,
Or by the ink blots and stains,
Concerned only of her kin,
Lest she be doomed to a bin.

So is my lover and I,
As we stare up at the night sky,
No wall nor vault can keep us apart,
Live only to love, until you depart.

Live for me, you may say,
But not one day will I lay,
Alone sans your sweet embrace,
I, your steps shall retrace,
And live and love you till eternity,
Ends its days of bliss serenity.
Envisaging lovers in the 18th Century. Hope we all find true love, Happy Valentine's Day !!

Pondering whence the Sun will harmless lay,
Hurting, no more the beauty, I array.
Inkling to destroy two months away,
Little did he know.

Ice melts slower than snow,
Peaceful rivers begin to flow.
Indeed i speak the truth,

Letting biting cold do my will,
Out i look, upon many a blue hill.
Vines have ceased to entwine,
Entranced, frozen in frosty time.

Utterly desolate, purely divine.

The Witching Hour
Megan Parson Jan 2018
At the stroke of midnight,
When sleep is at its height.

A ghoulish mist engulfs the town,
Bewitching even the Gothic Parish.
Marring its beauty with sinister a frown,
Ivied gates forbidding all that is nightmarish.

Its tall angels now grotesque gargoiles,
Tis when the witches own the sky.
Hidden by moonlight, for youth they toil,
Decades of immortality, watched with sharp an eye.

The towns square, a friendly place,
Now expressionless, a face.
Rings with its blurry past, haunting,
It's residents hiding, whence the hunting.

The witches doth confess,
The town's too quiet for us to obsess.

Begs the darkest one:
"Let us recess, to that dark cess,
Whence we came from.
Tis better to live a day hungry,
Than to be denied your place in history !!"

A Christmas Cold
Megan Parson Dec 2017
Brighter than Rudolph's red nose,
My nose, like a traffic light glows.
Santa could hire me you know,
As his coach man I'd love to go !!
Traffic stops when I cross,
Puzzled police are at a loss.
"Oh, those signals", they say at last,
By then I'm gone real fast !!

Winter haunteth the place I live,
Not a ghost. (Ghostbusters do forgive)
Tissues like snow, dot the floor,
What's in them, I don't adore.
If only this was Charlie's Chocolate factory,
Where snow resembled sugary gallantry !!
Maybe Santa loved Winter no more,
Instead it entered through my front door.

Homeless Winter, thou gifted me cold,
And cold, a runny nose.
I'm grateful, for I am bold,
And gifteth Winter, poetry and prose !!!
Advanced Merry Christmas !!!!
Wrote this while I had this cold, I guess t'was a story that had to be told !!!

The Speck In The Sky...
Megan Parson Dec 2017
The raven chick, with startled eyes,
Fell from its nest on high.
Its frail wings, useless lie,
But a croak its throat brings nigh.

Immovable, fully trusting,
Its cloaked guardians, who soar nearby,
From every stranger, guarding,
Though I mean no danger, I don’t pry.

Soon the flock has formed,
A live tornado round the red-eyed fleck.
Lifted from its mossy perch, caressed,
Until I, who meant no danger, could see but a speck.

Loads of lessons to be learnt,
As I gazed at the sky which brilliantly burnt.
Just penned my passion for feathery creatures, Birds. Nothing like a poem on something you love, while gazing at the lovely sky above!!!

A Living Wonder
Megan Parson Nov 2017
She inspires and destroys,
She conquered, before the Viceroys.
Her power & beauty, in awe we see,
Mercurial, blossoming immortality.

Insidious fingers creep over the fence,
Leaving thriving forests, ever so dense.
Weaving for Earth, an elegant cloak,
Yesterday, to the truth I awoke.

She favors none & is never antique,
A surreal presence, ever so unique.
Leaves shrivel & flowers wither,
But time, her splendor does not tether.

The die has been cast, the battle lines drawn,
Nature gainst her destroyer, as she awaits the morn,
Look not so forlorn,

For tis from chaos nature brings,
Peace and order to all things.

Forever she will be......
Megan Parson Nov 2017
Nothing could disturb her stare at the wall,
Everyday, from dawn to night fall.
Motionless she sat, on a rocking chair,
Creaky now, and worn with wear.

Contemplating someone’s return,
Whose identity is her only concern.
Whether the Phantom,
Is still as she might fathom,

Or her imagination run wild,
She cared for me as a child.
Soon, into the past she’ll descend,
Eyes searching, as if to defend.

If not for the daily answering of nature’s call,
An artistic statuette carved in fall,
Sits gazing at nothing in particular,
Some say she looks pretty angular.

Enfin, family is family,
My Aunt, she’ll be for posterity.

Pearls Appeal.
Megan Parson Oct 2017
Ardent kings will come and go,
But pearls stay true forevermore.
Pink, purple, blue & black,
White the preferred from the stack.

For very shade, a winning wink,
Inviting, its beauty to drink.
Fascinating every enamored eye,
Content on velvet to lie.

How the dreadful deep,
such a jewel could keep?
Shuts every mouth in wonder,
Even the quick-tongued surrender.

Worn with grace and honour,
The crowds cease to utter.
Silent applause by stupefied glances,
Asked later for numerous dances.

Humbly fetching, never antique,
Others with vile vanity reek,
Your mistress, thanketh the one above,
For tis whom she will love.

Day after day, like the dew,
Qouth she, "I love you".

The Knights Cat
Megan Parson Oct 2017
Her black hair's flying in the breeze,
As she accelerates her killer Ferrari,
This memory's just right to freeze,
Stops the car at Armani,

Awaits the manager, with fat a parcel,
Those she meets, she'll bespell,
Pocket your prized possession,
A hobby, now an obsession.

High heeled & lethal is she,
She parks right by the bat mobile,
The Dark Knight in darkness awaits,
Her lovely pearls, their past will retrace.

Many she's fooled but not him,
Her innocently malicious eyes, never dim,
Over Gotham city, they secretly rule,
Other evil minds, they ridicule!!

Phantoms, gone in the blink of an eye,
Their memory, we'll forever keep,
Ask not where, what, how or why,
For their crazy insanity is far, far too deep!!!

Fairytale in the making...
Megan Parson Sep 2017
You might think you know this story,
But yours is much more flowery,
Dabs and dots of illusion,
With decades of confusion,

A forgetful father, a muddle-head  daughter,
Tinkered to provoke laughter,
Perhaps for romance , a clever twist,
Or maybe, even a fearful fist!!

Up from times blurry trails,
Came the fanciful fairytales,
Full of gaudy glamour,
And foreseeable amour,

But who am I, a struggling writer?
To help you remember,
Oh no! My dears, I am a time spinner,
For it is in my broth, you
shimmer!

Herself
Megan Parson Sep 2017
Her mind is pushed to the limit,
A hoarse whisper it will permit,

To the very extent,
Alienated in her own body,
A fleeting shadow across the pavement,
Surreal, just like a nobody,

Puppets in a masquerade ball,
With heavy make-up & dressing,
To compensate, a mind's steep fall,
Sirens, beauty's trickery harnessing,

Their talk, walk & life the same,
Striving for unattainable bliss,
For joy & money, a losing game,
The costume perfect, her mind'll miss,

The old ignorant untamed self,
With flashy smiles & well-timed nods,
The simple, the complicated do engulf,
Like a morning alarm, the tiny voice again prods.

Harley Quinn

Her hair is dyed, red and blue,
Her looks give not a clue,
Of her part in Joker's dark
paradise,
She rid her old self a lively
demise,

A dangerous mind she does
possess,
She's worse than Joker, they
confess,
With your cool bat & ornated
revolver,
You're the best problem
solver,

She's made of mischief, & she ain't
hidin',
She's a darlin' with her dear
puddin',
Her life's not an open DC book,
But more, care to take a look?

Locked & chained, was her heart,
Until, one day, came Joker's dart,
& so he's her one & only,
Now she nor Gotham will ever be lonely,

The queen of Arkham is a feat,
Her suave style, none can beat,
Harleen Quinzel, well played,
I don't mind comin' to your aid!!!
