Seen Shadows
Nickolas J McKee Nov 2020
I bide in the shadows,
Secretly writing your name.
An endless endeavor,
Never to be the same.
Cradled in times of sorrow,
I dare not long for you.
...Little time to borrow...
I hurt you to protect you,
Because I hurt myself.
...From this time it has flew...
Letting go is not enough,
So I wait in the dark.
...I know it will be rough...
Until I am seen again.

The Eve of Our Children
Nickolas J McKee Nov 2020
I missed your touch,
When you walked out the door.
Left me behind,
With Joe & little Flore.
You said no more,
Broken bottles & cans.
Torn wedding pics,
Us aisled among sands.
Wondered a child,
“Where is mommy to be?”
Small words to say,
“You’ll have to wait & see...”
We miss your touch,
Us longing on these eves...
Left behind a broken home...

This Turning
Nickolas J McKee Nov 2020
Under the full moon,
You made me breath in,
Where turned,
Taken away.
Under it too soon,
The chastening of your soul,
Enraptures my lust,
Past lost love for you.
For where are you,
Upon shapeshifters,
Wrenching, drenching,
Confused of their souls?
Where am I too,
Clawing,...clenching,...
Under the full moon...

Of Song (BanJoed)
Nickolas J McKee Sep 2020
When I dream of you,
Comes song,
Two country folk men come alive.
Tears of the song falls,
Of us,
Begging us more for simple time.
For I dream of you,
BanJoed,
Hearing the soft ballad of cards.
The playing of times,
Enticed,
Knowing you’re far apart in yards.
Here I dream of you,
Of song.

Let the Sun Set
Nickolas J McKee Sep 2020
Birds will always be,
To spread & fly their wings.
The glory of birth,
Dear nature’s mothers sing.
Art takes time to grow,
Us as flowers to bloom.
Bewildered the wild,
Here for us to consume.
So inspiring,
The winds for me to tell.
Grooming trees to talk,
Grown tall to wish you well.
Let the sun set on,
Always new tomorrow.

The Fields of All Times
Nickolas J McKee Jul 2018
What a dream of writers,
Upon its grand galore?
Lifting hands upon Poe,
To ask forever more?
An Ernest near his sea,
Of Dante’s own heaven.
Fun to see Angelou,
With The loved Whitman be.
My dear Plath of saving,
Nestled on her pillows.
So pleased to see the Frost,
Odd this time of willows.
Pleased my own time of miles,
A spirit dream of niles.
For all Times...

The Best of Me
Nickolas J McKee Jul 2018
Seeing you all brawled up,
Gets the best of me.
Don't know why in this life,
Seeing your beauty.
All fixed bruises and scars,
Forced for me to care.
Poisoning white devils,
For the fallen ones.
I to rise in it all,
Till fixed seasons come.
The best of my conscious,
Luring a dark void.
Hoping to swallow me,
The best of me whole.
If only the loving demons could go away...leaving me finally alone.

Stranger
Nickolas J McKee Jun 2018
The pages dripped,
As so the time of the lover.
What seemed so pure,
Gone the distant time another.
From tears to blood,
Pleased and fitted the seeking lines.
This writing love,
Above all the pure soul he whines.
Somberly eased,
One seeks a fine place to rest on.
Of all chastised,
Left a soul requited and blessed.
Run forgiveness,
Placed heavenly upon his chest.
What you know...

Angels in Exile
Nickolas J McKee May 2018
The seven walked in fury,
No more a land called their home.
Forced many miles dreary,
All for a place called their own.
In a searching journey on,
They seek lost treasures hidden.
Each land to step, cross and come,
These exiled souls forbidden.
A rescuing hero large,
He seeks to redeem himself.
Even if till a last charge,
Saving souls fighting their Hell.
Kingdoms to come together,
For peace and love forever.
And the epic saga continues...

Sheep & Wolves
Nickolas J McKee Apr 2018
Barely laid hands on blood,
No thicker than simple sweet water.
No love of theirs for mine,
Neither substances one another.
Here lost in my own void,
Our own wounds to accompany us.
Love to be on my side,
Lost these sheep turned over to the wolves.
Who am I to stand fall,
Defenseless to the whims, souls and wills,
How am I to abide,
Facing the demons, shadows and ills?
Watching the sheep and wolves,
Bleating and howling amoung the wolds.
Nature has a way of things. I realize now this force of nature as well.

Benign Forces
Nickolas J McKee Mar 2018
Can such a force cease fire,
When all is lost for help?
Forces to cease at all,
Where all the lost to dwell?
Firm water wells sought out,
With those above to quench.
All real and distorted,
They cast down the buckets.
What lies beneath are lies,
With no water pulled up.
Only a truth to see,
Masking the dirt below.
What such forces to cease,
Can they unstoppable?
Forces I feel around me.

Our Longing
Nickolas J McKee Feb 2018
So adorable your longing,
I'm lost in this snow,
Knowing yours and your name,
Where is this love I cannot find?
A woe of us won,
Something yet to be known,
You away gone and away gone,
I know we are strong.
Us lost in this love on,
What of this paradox upon?
Forever are we,
The possibilities,
All endlessly so.
Of us lost in time longing on.
I know we just met, but tell me you're not a one to get away...

And It Was Worth It All
Nickolas J McKee Nov 2017
When you turned away from me,
I turned too walking back on.
The saddest thing of all time,
The secrets told between us.
It was then all I could see,
This was a battle not won.
I ask myself even why,
We have this love not so bold.
For now I know I must be,
Not your lover and no one.
Keep on walking with a sigh,
Knowing yourself to grow old.
Time not on your side with glee,
Knowing now I’m far and gone.
Inspired by Sam Smith’s recent “Too Good at Goodbyes,” I couldn’t help but to pump this love song out. And coming across a familiar...

You
Nickolas J McKee Nov 2017
You
If only I had the chance to kiss you,
At the times even I felt your own breath.
Don't know you now much as others know you,
Past of our youth shows your grand innocence.
You, the soul of our time passing us on.
The youth and vigor of life shows it all,
The smiles you shared standing with us tall.
You, the soul heir of this time and of joy,
Left now this young man a world to rejoice.
Where to now our paths mended on by you,
Crossing by our paths always lived and loved?
A shinning jewel in the rough to unfold,
Found like nothing before ever to shine.
You - forever cherished - remembered - you.
For a lost friend who has always been themselves.

Death by Silence
Nickolas J McKee Nov 2017
He could hear the death in silence,
The constant ringing in his ear.
He could hear the death in silence,
The constant lingering is near.
Imagine stopping forever,
This is what he could always hear.
Imagine not even waking,
This is what he could always fear.
So deep the silence with the death,
Blackened and pitched for him only.
It an embarking to all end.
So darkened and ditched knowingly,
What an end of sound to begin.
Fearing death, but at the same time accepting it.
