Till we meet ag…
Noura Dec 2021
It would be nice if you could be here
With me, right now.
But that’s impossible
For reasons
Reasons out of our control
Reasons we despise
Reasons that others
Have caused.
And alas
what’s to become of this?
A relationship?
A friendship?
Or is it just
Two strangers talking
Until time sees us apart?
Noura Jul 2021
Humans take their time.
For a fetus to develop,
it takes nine months.
For a baby to walk and talk,
it takes a couple of years.
For a student to acquire knowledge,
it takes twelve years.
But for you to understand me,
it takes forever.
And that's sad.
just for fun, to put a smile on someone's face:)

Everything and Nothing
Noura May 2021
Every body is always trying to understand
Even to force
All of these binary oppositions
On everything and everyone
But here I am
An odd one out
I am everything and nothing
I am a saint
And I am a sinner
I am happy
And I am sad
I am male
And I am female
I am a child
And I am an adult
I am dead
And I am alive
I am everything
And I am nothing.

DARKNESS
Noura Feb 2021
POUR YOUR SADNESS IN A DEEP WELL
HEAR THE NOISE EACH DROP MAKES
FEEL THE DIZZINESS OF BEING RELEASED
THAT GASP, THAT LIFE FILLING EVERY CELL IN YOUR BODY
LOOK AT THE SKY
LET THAT WARMTH SORROUND YOU
OH IT’S BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN
YET
YET IT BLINDS YOU, IT BURNS YOU
LOOK DOWN AT THE DARK DARK WELL
WATCH OUT FOR THE MONSTERS IN THERE
OH
OH NO
IT’S TOO LATE
ADIOS MY FRIEND
YOU FELL.

Imagine
Noura Oct 2020
Imagine they cut off your limbs
Hand and legs, all gone
But you’re a starfish
So it’s alright, they’ll grow back.
No wait, you’re a tree.
Once they cut you,
You lose a piece of yourself.
Those broken remains,
They use them
They use you, to build houses,
To build a warm space,
To protect them from the harsh storm.
If you were a starfish though,
Your limbs will start to grow
Slowly, but surely. And suddenly,
You’ll be your old self again,
Nothing more, nothing less.
A star in the sea
Or a tree in the wild,
Which would you be?
Noura Jul 2020
The act of growing up is so simple
Yet so many miss their chance
There’s a door connecting us
The I before
And the I after
Yet it’s a one way door
To open it
One must understand
Love
Compassion
Empathy
And passion
Yet not only towards others
But towards the self too
For a great deal we grow up
Through understanding ourselves
Then, a rather complicated act
Becomes a very simple one.

Tick Tock
Noura May 2020
My eyes were fixed on the wall in front of me,
“The clock is broken, it stopped”
“No, it’s working just fine” he said to me,
“It’s not moving, slow down, you’re going too fast”
“Catch up with me, then”
I can’t
“I ran once” “I ran once, and my clock worked”
“Work harder, catch up”
I can’t
“I think I’ll stand here a little bit longer”, I smiled.

Happy
Noura Apr 2020
Within the nothing you see
Appears a dot of light
A flicker in your heart
Beat after beat they go fast
Suddenly your eyes widen
Hope, has just noticed you
You extend your hand
Trying to hold on to the gleam
You grab it
Your heart is now full
Of an ever so growing rhythm
The darkness disappears
And the sun comes up

You were the only thing I wanted
You were my something grand
What I looked for my entire life
You stood there in the back of my mind
Watching every second
Protecting every second
But what can we do?
You were just that, a piece of my mind
No matter how much I wished you there
No matter how much I cried for you
Not matter how many worlds I built
Worlds where you are alive
There’s no way around it
There’s no way to have you here
There’s no way to trick myself
And I lay here, wanting, grieving
Sad, pathetic, trapped in a hole of darkness of my own making
Waiting and waiting and waiting
For you.

Shadow
Noura Mar 2020
A pondering shadow, I see
The time I stop my travels
And settle down, for a glimpse
Of the inside world
The shadow is so tall, tall and dark
Its face, indiscernible
But its eyes, they look at me
With amazement, or pity
I cannot tell
I could never tell
So complicated
So distant
I am trying to understand you, Shadow,
Please, turn on the light, and let me in.

With a drink in his hand
Noura Mar 2020
All he ever did was look for it
All he ever wanted was to find it
And at times he thought he finally got it
But then, again and again, he was hit by the truth
That he could never catch it
Like trying to hold air
It was impossible
He held out his arm time and time again
Thought this must be it
But it.. it wasn’t
They didn’t understand him
Didn’t get him
Didn’t see him
So
Love, for him
Was a wish, never to be fulfilled.

Locked
Noura Mar 2020
Day switches into night,
Night switches into day.
The ray of sunshine loses its light
From a small squared display.

Through that square, a street appears,
On its cars, gathers dust.
Emptiness fill it, no people, no peers,
The road seems long and unjust.

Locked, in a box of flesh.
Locked, in a box of demands.
Alone time can be fresh,
But nothing compares the outer lands.

Suddenly the sirens turn off,
And the silence, becomes tough.

One story
A hundred pages
A different chapter
Within each page
I flip and flip and flip
So many beginnings
The truth is to be found
In one page
It seems to have disappeared...

“You Can’t”
Noura Jan 2020
Took a stroll down a riverside,
shook the hands of a fish,
the sun got mad, “you can’t”
she said. So I stopped

Rode a bike near the water,
smiled at my reflection,
the sky got mad, “you can’t”
she said. So I stopped

Ran on the rocky road,
cut a flower on my way,
the moon got mad, “you can’t”
she said. So I stopped

Swam in the cold river,
touched the earth underneath,
the night got mad, “you can’t”
she said. So I stopped.

What’s it called?
Noura Dec 2019
What’s it called? When you try to stop but never can
What’s it called? When you cry instead of laugh
What’s it called? When you wake up cause the night is waiting for you
What’s it called? When your dreams turn into nightmares
What’s it called? When you don’t recognize yourself anymore
What’s it called? When you live, but you also die

Lost
Noura Nov 2019
Pinpoint the star
deep in the ocean
or is it the sea?
Gazing, from afar,
cannot be found—
Lost in between
Two names;
Home is nowhere.

Love
Noura Oct 2019
For a while I thought love an illusion
A mind tricked by hormones and confusion
Then you appeared, with a solution
And I battled my feelings with resolution.
Until you left,
That’s when I knew love
Emotions way too strong to shove
Heartache, a hundred stabs and above
But no regrets fall,
For I now know myself better than ever
So learn and move on I shall.

Blue Bird
Noura Oct 2019
A blue bird flies into the sky
It is as blue as he is
A minute goes by
The bird can be seen no more
For he is one with the sky
Unknown
That fate of his
Did he die?
Did he fly?
Unknown
If only he didn’t merge one with the sky

Dream
Noura Oct 2019
-What’s the dream, pal?
-What dream?
-Why, the dream, the bright future.
-Oh, that’s still a thing?
Noura Jun 2019
Your smile wakes the butterflies in my heart,
Eyes like honey, like art
Lips so sweet, I could kiss them all night
If you get any closer, I just might.

Your hip is pressed to mine
As the stars above us shine,
I touch your heart.
And you touch mine.

C.
I hold it in between my fingers
So tight and so close
I light it, fire flares inside it
I place it on my lips
And I take a deep breath
White smoke comes out
Fiery flames from within
The more I take in
The closer to the end I get
As it loses its life
My finger grows hot
And my tongue burns
I breathe in the smoke one last time
Before the dark comes back.

Remember.
Noura Jun 2019
So, you’re gonna leave, he said
Yes, she said, when the time comes, you’ll understand.
Today, he understood, he now knows.
Pain, it cracked through his skull
Everything hurt, but mostly, his heart ached
He remembered her, suffering
He remembered himself, watching
He never understood before
But now, now he does.
Dying, on the ground, he remembered her
Dying, on the ground, he cried.

You!
Noura May 2019
There are things that you just wanna ignore
Never come back to
Forget
But their remains never leave
They're here to make a scene
To torment you in your sleep
To haunt you in your day
To stay
And you fight
Every ****** day you're alive
You fight
You put on a smile
You work you study you love you laugh
And you live
Some people don't, but you do
Because that's how it is.

leaves
Noura May 2019
They played around the yard
Orange, Brown, Green, to each its own ray
Left and right they went
It's like they knew the way
For a moment, they weren't just leaves
Anymore
They were her kids, with their loud noises that she could hear no more
With their bright eyes and even louder smiles.
A tear fell down her cheek
For those leaves, flew away.
