My love is not dependent on return
My love never needed to be learned
Nuances have been molded
sculpted, and refined
But the love,My Love
The very core of it
Is blind.
I need a naughty granny
with a cougar in her *******.

A cougar in her ******* and
cookies in her pocket
to feed my old man belly
and please my old man rocket.

I need a naughty granny
who knows how to shake that thing,

Who's just as **** in her autumn
as she was back in her spring.

I need a naughty granny
to make my old *** feel alive.

Who will still want to do me, when I'm 95.
Not my usual thing but just having a bit of fun
This is the first couple paragraphs of a story I've been working on
interested in honest critique.

Neko awoke to the smell of blood. He sniffed the cool night breeze, and his ears swiveled, listening intently.
A wolfs ears were sharp and keen, but it was the nose that knew everything. The nose that had woke him from his dreams of warm summer play.
"A rabbit," Neko thought, injured and bleeding, maybe three hundred yards away upwind in the tall plains grass. Neko's stomach growled.
A wolf always knew an easy meal when he smelled one. Neko rose from his slumber stretching his powerful limbs and began to move slowly and methodically through the grass. He was careful to remain upwind. His steps fell like whispers on the soft ground.
The moon, which Neko so loved was full and bright tonight and threatened to betray him as it cast its silvery glow across the grassy landscape.
Neko's nearly white coat stood out against the yellow grass, his saving grace was the smattering of silver that ran down the center of his back and rimmed the tops of his ears.
Neko crouched deeper into the grass, and farther down into the shadows, his movement slowed to a crawl. He could hear his prey now. It was weakened but not so much that it wouldn't recover given time, or run should he miss his mark.
The rabbit had been lucky at some point earlier this evening in an encounter with a lesser predator than himself, a coyote or a fox perhaps.
However Neko had no intention of allowing his prey any reprieve from fate.
All animals great or small ended as a meal for someone, even wolves bones were picked clean in the end. Neko knew this on some primitive level but he gave it no thought, he crept closer.
The smell of the animal's blood was intoxicating. He could hear it's labored breathing.
His muscles were coiled and tense, he inched as close as he dare then suddenly,
Neko sprang swiftly and with no remorse. His jaws closed around the rabbits throat with a sharp snap, one shrill, short, squeal, and it was over.
Possible short book I'm working on about The leader of a wolf pack named Neko.   General setting is North Western U.S. Montana Wyoming area.

Rains fall on panes of blue

walking lonely streets, memories of you

Down pours disguise watering eyes

there are no tears under crying skies

Opening heavens, rain falls like hell.

Calm washes over this fool

and I smile

for there are no tears in the rain

In a lonely darkened pit I wander,
some might call it hell
but it's far too familiar
every texture, every smell.

It's been with me for so long
I choose to call it home
this cold and lonely labyrinth
of desperation that I roam.

Searching in vain for my true love fair

Crying out her name hoping she'll be there,
but only the wind will answer
echoing her name,

taunting me and haunting me
is it all just a dream.

An opioid delusion as a field of poppies I cross.

Breathing in a fragrance nearly as intoxicating as her,
down the rabbit hole I tumble
everything becomes a blur.

Alice sweet Alice
won't you please come home.

This is no wonderland since you've gone.

In silence we embrace
cheek to cheek,
Face to face.

Two souls join as one, no words spoken.

Hearts beating together,
not in unison, but one then the other.

The push and pull of love,
not the tension of lovers.

The warmth of embrace,
cheek to cheek, face to face.

A moment shared,
a feeling, a believing.

Cheek to cheek, face to face,
Two souls join as one,
no words spoken.
No words needed.

The Ocean kisses the shore
with a never ending love for her.
Sometimes gently,
Sometimes in a passionate rage.
But always with a knowing
that he must return to her,
for she is the beginning
and the ending of him.
And only she
in her steadfastness
can calm his
agitated soul.

The wind buffets against me and I feel free
drying the sweat from the blazing sun.
Across the desert I run, the rumble of the road
radiates up through my soul and lifts me,
somewhere above myself.
Looking down at the lone rider, the sole survivor
at least it feels that way to me.
I roll the power on, faster and faster I run
barren landscapes all around.
But you can't outrun the desert son,
It seems god speaks to me so I smile
and slow down.

timer set and go.
lets do this off the cuff,
on the fly, enoughs a nuff.
5 minutes to get r done, oh **** 2 minutes gone.
how much poetry can we write off
the cuff.
Sunrises, sunsets, ladies eyes i'll never forget.
picking and choosing as time flys by
1 minute left I sigh.
this poem comes to a close with one last
I love you before I go
time.
So I set the stopwatch for 5 minutes and started writing
with no pre thought other than the title this is the end result of this experiment.
Not asking for likes this is pure crap just suggesting you give it a try.

Old People Love
that's what we have now you see.

That kind of love where we fuss and grumble
but would never think to leave.

Where we shake our heads at each other,
and laugh and talk about the weather.
Telling the same old stories,
of all our years together.

It's hard to tell sometimes where you stop
and I begin.
I've given up on that riddle,
Really, there is no way I can win.

After 40 years, together
We're not just lovers, but best friends.

So I overlook the Lipstick on my coffee cup,
and you stealing fries from my plate.

While you pick at your spinach salad,
and worry about your weight.

Telling me I need to hurry up,
when you always end up running late.

You tell me I'm no better
when I forget to take out the trash.

Or you catch me hiding cookies
in what I thought was my secret stash.

Yes, we have that old people love,
It seems we know each other too well.

And even though we joke and tease.
Seriously, It's been Hell!!!    LOL

Only kidding My Love!
I wouldn't change a thing,
I'm even happier today,
than when I gave you that ring.

That's Old People Love.
The kind of love I hope we all have someday.

Old poems
not lost but alone,
pressed between pages
dark and cold.

Should I write something new, or
Perhaps revive one of these
lonesome works of old?

Is the old not new
if it's never been told?

Oh so many pieces
Only known by me,

From dusky corners of my mind
to yellowing pages unseen.

Unfinished bits of sentiment,
lovelorn lyrics and rhyme.

Lost and lonely lines,
too good to have never been set down.

How long gathering dust and
locked away.

Before final words
Are found.

Kisses short and sweet.
Kisses long and deep.
Of all the Kisses I have known, I long for yours and yours alone.
You're January I'm December, opposites yet close together.
Your thoughtful analizations,
My dreams without hesitation.
Your emotional stability.
My artistic insanity.
Your whisper to my shout, my bass to your treble.
If I'm the words then you're the song.
So take my hand and sing along.
Because the music's always better,
when we play together.
I'm a Sagittarius she's a Capricorn.
The stars say we're opposites and can't work and it's true,
but somehow we do.
Because Capricorns to grounded to believe it and Sagittarius is to aloof to care. LOL
Todd Sommerville Dec 2024
I heard our song today,
Started to turn it off,
but decided to let it play.

Every line was a memory,
I tried to sing along.

I knew all the words by heart,
but my voice was gone.

When the chorus hit,
all I could see was your face.

Then the rhythm transported me to another place.
A happier time, when you were still mine.

It's been so **** long.
How can I not be fine?

How can that song get me every time?
That beautiful **** song,
Oh how I wished it would end.

Funny thing is,
when it finally did.

I wiped the tears from my eyes,
and as hard as I tried,

I couldn't stop myself
from playing it again.
I Cant Fight this Feeling Anymore-REO Speedwagon, that was our song. Lol
One of those songs I still can't turn off even when I hear it today.

Comment that one song that gets you below

The soupy morning fog
Blankets the rolling mountains
 In a translucent mask of
water Vapor and reflected light.

As the lone Peregrine circles High above,
somewhere Just south of Heaven.

Peering through the mist,
with Unrivaled eyes, and a predators heart.

The Dove preens his feathers unaware.

I stand on a cliff side the sole witness
to this spectacle of
life and death about to occur.

Both mesmerized and horrified,
as the falcon begins its dive.

It's over before the dove even knows it's begun.

As I stand overwhelmed
in a cascade of conflicting emotions.

Realizing I've learned a lesson today
but not knowing for sure What it was.

Your lips whisper poems in my ears,
and warm the blood that flows within my heart.

My creative juices begin to boil at your touch.
But your skilled hands hold me to a simmer.

I long to write the majesty that is you,
the masterpiece you've lain upon my soul.

Your love, My love,

has made me a poet.

And you are the poetry that makes me whole.
Just a simple little thing that popped into my head ten minutes ago.
Todd Sommerville Dec 2024
Die hard the poet's heart
Dashed with great fury against the wall.

Cursing to the heavens,
for sense of it all.

To see the beauty in the blood
as it drips thick droplets from the blade.

To see, same said beauty,
from a child's tears upon the grave.

Curse to the heavens.
Dash my heart against the wall.

And **** my poet eyes,
for the beauties seen in all.
Sometimes it feels we see things we shouldn't
or write things we shouldn't write
but would we still be poets if we did that?
Should we still be poets if we did that?
Years have passed and maybe you're afraid
that time has caused a change,
Afraid that we won't rock each other's world like before.

And perhaps, physically we're not the same,
and yes our love has changed,
It's gotten so much stronger at its core.

Just take my hand,
My Love,
you already have my heart,
Just let go,
and watch love flow,
First steps are always the hardest part.

Let me carry you away,
on this re-found wave of love.

Maybe no longer crashing,
perhaps just gently lapping at the shore.

But there's still motion in the ocean,
and with all our love and devotion,
We'll Rock Each Other's Worlds Even More!!!
It took a teen romance followed by 30 years apart to write this one.

Pure as alabaster,
no servant, no master,
only love abides.

Lost in a kiss,
divination of  bliss.

Together, they've stood, against time.

Their creator long gone,
still they live on,
to remind us that true love lasts forever.
Inspired by the sculpture By Auguste Rodin in 1882
Entitled (The Kiss) but often refereed to as Rodin's Lovers
or The Lovers
Todd Sommerville Dec 2024
Sometimes life leads
Occasionally, we follow.

But today becomes yesterday
And quickly turns tomorrow.

Time is fluid,
it always flows.

In the path of least resistance.

Always forward, never to return.

And so we swim,
like salmon up a river.

Trying to get back to some,
 something or other.

To a beginning not remembered.
To some end, to forever.

Back to that shallow pool of humanity,
only to flounder there and die.

Like the salmon,
who's life begins and ends in the same place.

Who knows how far we could go.

If we had only learned
  to go with the flow.
Feeling philosophical, or maybe just too many beers. lol

To My Valentine

You're not just the girl for me,
You're the world to me.

My first good morning,
my last goodnight.

When You're in my arms,
everything feels right.

The sound of you sleeping soothes My soul.

The warmth of your touch makes me feel whole.

Lying here in my arms,
the kiss of your lips,
the smell of your skin,
the curve of your hips,
in those moments the world disappears.

In those moments,
all that I hear
is two hearts beating.

Saying love is here.
Write me a poem for Valentine's Day!
If your a poet,
You know that's what She'll say.
So writers block be ******,
My dues must be paid,
To that arrow slinging Cherub,
If I have any hopes to get laid!!!

Happy Valentine's Day
to my fellow poets!

Seven minutes in heaven
A game kids use to play
I got my turn one warm summer day
It was meant as a joke
Just kids being mean
Sweet Susie Cooper
When I was only thirteen
I felt sorry for her, locked in a closet with me
The geek, the dork, full of anxiety
Six long minutes together
Alone in the dark
Then from out of nowhere I felt a spark
Just before the door opened
Sweet Susie, She kissed me
And broke my heart

A sign of the times,
Prince has left us and the world's gone blind.

This post-covid apocalypse is so
Sublime.

So many factions, only two teams remain,
Are you Red team or Blue?

I don't need your name.

Kiss me, **** me, it's all the same.

If my facts aren't your facts you must be to blame.

If my lies aren't your lies  you must be to blame.

Somebody please tell me why the world's gone insane.

I just want to shut out all the noise, and play Purple Rain.

I only wanna see you laughing in the Purple Rain.

Purple Rain

Purple Rain...
Hope everyone is singing along, it's impossible to feel bad while playing this song. I hope PRINCE is resting in peace right now.

Crossing the room like an acrobat
never touching ground.

Crazy Cat found my lap,
landing without a sound.

Kneading my belly,
claws in my skin,
hurts like hell my little friend.

I grin and bare it,
rubbing his head,
Sinatra is saying it's time for bed.

He tucks his paws under his chin
and casts his blue eyes on mine.

Goodnight, sleep tight,
rest in peace baby boy,
everything is fine.
Sinatra was my cat he was taken in off the street at the estimated age of 3.
He died of feline AIDS about 2 years later. He was the first an only cat I ever had as a pet. I was always a dog person. Sinatra changed my opinion of cats forever. I still miss him.

Lying on my back in a field of gold,
 sky watching
as God's artwork unfolds.
Fluffy white pictures,
of animals, and faces,

intertwined lovers,
and magical places.
Flying on high,
oh how I wish, I could too.

Worlds they pass,
so slow, yet so fast,
it all shall be gone too soon.

I close my eyes and sigh,
as a tear escapes my eye.

 It all shall be gone,

Sleeping with the bottle
 I know she's not a friend.

 But when I'm feeling lonely
 she always lets me in.

Lets me in and holds me
in her arms and in her Haze.

Lets me in and holds me,
as I drift away.

Sleeping with the bottle,
I've tried to walk away.

 But when everyone abandons me,
I know she will stay.

She lets me in and holds me.
in her arms and in her haze.

Lets me in and holds me,
as I drift away.

She lets me in and holds me.
 I try to walk away.

Still her warmth keeps calling me
But I don't want to stay.

She lets me in and holds me.
But I don't want to stay.

She lets me in and holds me.
But I don't want to drift away.

I don't want to.

No I don't,

I don't want to ,

Drift away.

Drift   away.

Drift   a w a y....

Sometimes she goes slumming,
and turns up here.

But I'll take her downtown,
have no fear.

After all,
it's what she came here for.

We can do it right here,
down on the floor,
or up against the wall.

Anywhere but the bed,
that wouldn't do it all.

Her hunger must be fed
down on all fours
dress getting *****
begging for more.

Subjugating herself,
denying her wealth,
letting primal urges drive her.

So I'll supply her fantasy,
but in reality I fear.

If she knew the truth
she'd not dare turn up here.

For the truth is
That I love her!

A kiss is a taste of a union
that may or may not be.
Two souls dipping toes
in love's waters.
Before diving into its sea.
I've kissed you,
I know,
we were meant to be.
I've tasted
your soul,
Now swim with me.

They ask me why I love you,
They ask me why I care.

And though the answer eludes me,
the feeling is still there.

Like a moth to a flame,
the danger never sensed.

I'm drawn to thee eternally
in spite of circumstance.

My heart was told to love you,
I don't know by whom or why.

And even though it hurts me so,
I cannot deny.

My heart was told to love you
and I will heed thy will.

For my love for you
is the closest thing to
Heaven I'll ever feel.
Sometimes we fall in love with someone
who has been hurt or broken. And
even though you know they love you back, Its difficult
for them to trust you and open up to you.
Sometimes it feels like the easiest thing to do would be to
run the other way.
This poem is about deciding to stay and defying logic and reason
and finding the greatest love of your life.

Splattered.
The inkwell splattered.
Dissolving my hard earned thoughts in a murderous splash.
Splattered visions in my mind, no longer legible to the eye.
Smears on a page, words that can't be reclaimed.
Like a dream, with only the knowledge that you dreamed.
Upon waking the dream is gone forever,
Just Splattered

Dancing on the edge of a shining star she appears.
I move through darkness towards her,
 reaching out into the void,
to touch her,
to reach the unreachable.

Fingertips play upon shadows where she used to be.

(As she dances)

Words reverberate back into my own ears,

Did she hear?

Unclear.

Visions of her blue eyes fill my mind.
Did she see?

I thought she smiled at me.

I awake to find it all a dream.
But I remember,
I can plainly see,

Her dancing away from me.
Dancing away,

Towards a star.

Staring out into the crimson sky
the westbound sun melts into the horizon.

A red and gold puddle of translucency,
blends into an ocean
of majestic purples and blues.

Pinpoints of light begin to appear
as day succumbs to night.

I stand in silence,
near to tears.

Wondering where you've gone.

The radiance of the emerging moon
shines a beacon  into the vastness.

To no avail.

I know that you are gone.

And unlike my faith in dawning sun,
I hold no hope of your return-
Upon the morning.

She bowed before him and he struck her,
so she kneeled.
She kneeled before him and he kicked her,
so she lay.
She laid before him and he ***** her,
so she cried.
She cried before him so he cursed her,
and walked away.

But this was not the end,
it happened time and time again,
until one day she found the strength to rise.

She Rose from the floor,
crying and quaking,
She rose from the floor,
hurt and aching.
She rose from the floor,
scared and alone.

Alone but alive,
today she survived,
and tomorrow she will survive again.

And every day she survives,
every day that she's alive,

Is another day the monster didn't win.

Tangerine and honey drip in equal measure
on the finely woven silk
that lightly covers you.

As my tongue takes its pleasure
I can barely discern.
where the silk stops and your skin begins.

The sound of your sighs
and a rise in temperature
tells me I've found a sweet spot.

A soft spot, goose flesh and shivers,
not just yours but my own.

Had I known such joys could awaken,
I would have mistakenly
spilled the honey long ago.

I did not cry today, and I fear

For I could not find one thing

to bring my heart to tears.

Have I grown callus,

Have I grown cold,

Has anger replaced empathy,

or am I just growing old.

Does age exempt my tears,

or have I just run dry.

It saddens me Deeply,

but not enough to cry.

I remember that morning's kiss,
just a quick peck and you were gone.

Running late for work again,
we'd lain in bed too long.

I should have kept you there,
had I known I surely would.

But hindsight is perfect and looking back
does no good.

One moment longer had I kept you,
or one moment faster out the door.

These are the things
that will haunt
my mind for evermore.

Yes,

I remember that morning's kiss.

Just a quick peck.

And you were gone.

The sun burns hot and bright
heat waves distort the light,
where asphalt meets the horizon.

The Santa Ana winds dry the sweat
from my skin before I even have
a chance to perspire.

I head north along the coast, leaving behind
my blustering host.

As rocky cliffs, and pacific breezes sooth my soul.

And tonight as I sleep beneath the stars,
to the sound of the distant cars.

I let my thoughts wander,
Somewhere beyond Jupiter and Mars.

And wonder just when that journey,
might begin.

I'm in no hurry though, for there are miles left
to go.

And that journey will have to wait,
Until this journey ends.

The road, a cold and lonely place.
Where a man can feel his heart break and spirit soar in equal measure.
Those long desolate Highways heading west.
Heading  nowhere  into distant mountain ranges that seem always out of reach.
Where do they go, I momentarily wonder, then know, as the road now leads to valleys below.
The ebb and flow,
the high and the low.
That is the road.
Where a man can lose himself,
yet find his soul.

What can you do in a second?

I don't know, give me a minute.

Maybe an hour, just an hour to think about it.

Is that wrong to dedicate an hour to the thoughts of a second?

How many decisions made in seconds affect us for years?

Not hours, not days, but years.

To be clear, not hours, not days but years.

So go ahead take a second, take all the time you need.

I'll wait.

A reflection of remembered
warmth, a memory of the
fire in your eyes.

My gaze turns towards
the window, searching
dancing motes of dust,
for a ghost of you.

For just an outline,
a shimmering silhouette,
to cling too.

But even as I search
I know, you're no mere ghost.

The light that touched
my face was you.

Touch her ****.
Not a ***** or a squeeze.
Just a gentle caress, or pat if you please.

Hold her in your arms,
kiss her forehead.
Snuggle on the sofa watching TV,
before heading to bed.

Gaze into her eyes,
not like you've never seen them before.

But like looking in a mirror
and you know every pore,
every wrinkle, line, and freckle,
on her beautiful face.

This is the good stuff
there's no reason for haste.

And after you've made love,
Look at her and grin,
then touch her **** and whisper.

Let's do it again!
Just a reminder that love and relationships
don't have to be full of overpowering emotions
all the time.  Sometimes they can just be relaxed and fun.
Laugh in bed you'll never regret it.

Valentine's Day
Is the day to say,
****, Silly, Romantic things
To make her heart soar,
cry, or sing.
And I'll stop right there.

Happy Valentine's
to the greatest group of poets and people

I watch her walking away,
body speaking in a way
even a deaf man can understand.

My oh my ain't life grand.

Swish Sway,
Swish Sway,

Her hips are fluent in every language,
And I desire to converse in every tongue.

She smiles back over her shoulder,
laughter takes a hold of her.

Knowing fully well what she has done.

She blows me a kiss,
turns down the volume of her hips.

From a shout to just barely a whisper.

And I smile because I know,
even as I watch her go.

She only makes them talk for me.

A heart of gold only shines in the sun.

A heart of stone warms no one.

A heart of glass is prone to break.

My heart without yours is too much to take.

My sad and lonely heart was broken and blue.

Until the day it was first loved by you.

She dances through my mind on a song,
Yet defined.
By words, to describe my love for her.

Let me strum another line,
Maybe a verse will come in time,
While she dances.

While she dances,
 and dances,
to my wordless melody.

Her beauty it taunts me,
and her smile it haunts me.

For my words could never flow,
as easily as she-
While she dances.

While she dances just for me,
it now becomes so clear to see.

I need no words, for she-
She,

Is the living lyric in this,
Lovers melody.

Whisky and Poetry
The look in your eyes,
smoldering ******,
begging good times.

A bold and beautiful Celtic Lass.

Emerald eyes and auburn hair
make this Irish heart beat too fast.

I wish I could kiss her ruby red lips,
caress that creamy skin,
with my calloused fingertips.

So stunning in moonlight,
My eyes drink her in.

A vision of innocence
a portrait of sin.

Just a paperback cover
in a bookstore bin.

Polarized and filtered not reality,
A 35 mm dream girl
I'll never truly see.

But in my mind she's mine
as long as I want her to be.

Through the magic of
Whisky, and Poetry.
Inspired by looking through photos for a suitable cover
to an adult romance novel I've been working on for a very long time.

I've drank myself blind
trying to have a good time.

I've crashed my motorcycle in the rain.

I've jumped out of planes,
hopped rides on cargo trains.

Made love to women I never knew.

I've slept under a desert moon,
slept in the rain in June.

Did nearly everything in life
I wanted too.

And the only thing that
caused me real pain,
was not giving you a ring.

Because I found you way to late.
And I lost you way too soon.
Mostly true, some poetic license was taken.
I want to write something
that lives beyond me.

Something that brings joy
to someone I'll never see.

Something that has wings
to traverse time and space.

Words of rhyme that kindle love
in a formerly loveless place.

Just a line, or phrase
where someone will say-

to a dear friend,
I read this today.

A poem by some old poet,
I don't recall his name.

But I found it to be beautiful,
and it touched me,
All the same.
What I write now, I hope my son will read when I'm 30 years gone
and remember me. Or maybe even a grandchild
even though I don't have any yet.

Today may shape tomorrow.
 But today,
Cannot, change yesterday.

Today is short.

A wasted today
will soon be gone.

Another yesterday,
We can't change.

Live today with purpose,
with aspirations for tomorrow.

and there will be no more regrets,
 for yesterdays.
