It’s a fine line,
A tricky place
She said,
Walking with a clock in hand,
A sword in your mouth,
A trees flower branches sprouting from your head,
You can’t put anything down,
But if your arms get tired,
I’ll hold them up

it’s so typical of me
and you
to crave love from the ones who wouldn’t notice us
normally
Love from the nearby, similar people
Feels like it comes too naturally
So I long for a love I couldn’t possibly take for granted

Oh, how beautiful the Sea!
Oh, how at once so strange and lovely the life!
With laughing sounds, loud and harsh,
With alien creatures of suspect features,
Never a boring sight to see the Sea.

I used to live near the ocean. I miss it and all the amazing creatures I would see: starfish, ghost *****, stingrays, dolphins, octopi, jellyfish, fish, and sea cucumbers.

Perfect
Their perfect! I sighed, sharing truth in play.
Hands off! She says and we laugh, laugh at our jokes that show how we feel.
For in truth, he is perfect, perfect not for me, and is sweet for her.
Perfect they are all!
Woven with all the colors of life and power and love, once shaken out fill the room with your glory,
And amaze those who look for them, your gems of works, brightening in the day,
Increasing with the times, never fade to gray.
I look upon them and rejoice at your mind,
That could think up such glorious things.
I laugh and you increase my joy, let me see myself as you and they do,
As a gem of works, brightening in the day and increasing with the time, never fade to gray,
Not threadbare in danger of holes, with colors of vague hue and the smell of musty attic.
Their Perfect! Your Perfect! And as hard as it is to say it, so am I.

What does,
Perfect,
Mean?
Wishing I,
Was
More?
Doing All,
I see
To do?
No,
Perfect,
Means one,
Thing
Love.
To be,
Love,
Must I,
Be God?
How
Else,
Can I,
Send rain,
Upon
The just,
And unjust,
Alike?
The son,
Or daughter,
Is
Like,
The Father.
Has the power,
Has the spirit,
Has Love.
But what,
About myself,
How,
Can I,
Love me?
If God,
Who is perfect,
Can,
love,
me,
If I am,
Perfect,
So can,
I
“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Mtt 5:48

We are always moving
We are never still
In our dance
No one whirls faster
than Us
Yet
None has seen a calmer rest

Great dreams
Crystal whispers
I never believed in
I played a thousand fantasies
my pet dragons' names weren't
original
neither were my aliases
Coriander
Evelyn
Beauty
Rose

came the closest to breathing
her and brother wizard
Jasper
died from an inability to care
I couldn't write emotion
yet
still the art eludes me
and I struggle creating the minds of
characters
so boring to interact with my own fabricated
males and females
maybe horses would be easier
to create
anthropomorphic equestrian creatures
proper ****** distortions
and voice affectations
unneeded
I could never write a full novel. Maybe I should try writing about talking animals

A fool I am

when you are a fool at the right moment
Always a fool I will be

With Autumn comes an animal excitement
But Spring does bring me deep relief
My heart does open as each flower
And colors promise me to mend
the rend of barren bruising Winter
I cry as petals let go and fall
sure that Spring will fly before
I've had the time to rest within her
and sing her softness before Summer
I really do feel renewed at Spring

do not waste time
wishing someone
noticed you
liked you
loved you
sacrificed for you

spend time
noticing someone
liking someone
loving someone
sacrificing for someone

and suddenly your perspective will change

I took a gray blue stand
and whispered
go away,  away,  away
until only ghosts remained
my cowards slowly slipped over my face
or was it tacit wisdom

I saw the harsh paints
it isn't a race
and my crush has duly served it's purpose
a purpose less than I would like

I backed into a corner
what I rejoiced to see released
and put a chain upon my pet
my pet
stay put
now sit

My pet
do you only do
what you are told?
Elioinai Sep 2015
Shall I bind you with cords of kinship,
Instead of ties of flagrant love?
Shall I catch you with family kindness,
Instead of arrows from above?
Am I a coward,
or a faithful friend,
who longs to keep you to the end,
A fool
a liar
a lover unrequite
dangerously chaining you
to a rose I claim is white?
There is someone who I love very much,  but I can't figure out if I'm falling in love with him romantically or in a sisterly way. I want my family to adopt him, but I don't want to do anything rash or stupid, like prematurely permanently put him in the bro-zone.

My heart shimmies and shivers,
While thinking of you,
Poetry for my eyes,
You stand like a dancing,
Sentence of silver,
And dance like a whirling,
Diction of diamonds,
Your dimple crescendos,
Calling out my own upon my cheek,
The curves of your mustache and beard,
Carve into my heart, and add to holes put there by your gauges,
You don’t care,
And I love that,
You enjoy a good drink,
Laugh in life’s face,
And speak as you wish,
But walk humbly before God,
You sing gently.
A Man you are,
And Man to be.

A rocket screams in flames in my blue, blue sky,
Bright beautiful day,
This tragedy my lie,
As I wander through my mind,
I run this poisoned knife,
Into my heart and wish I was more kind.

A poem I wrote when I was mentally wounding myself
Elioinai May 2019
women
when they love someone
open and close
open and close
with the light of your kind face
and softer words
in excitement she opens
in care she closes
Be an ever fair expression to find petals facing out
Elioinai Nov 2018
In my mind
you tell me you wish I would tell you
how I feel about you more
instead of hiding it away in poems
that I don’t always show you
But that’s a level of vulnerability I’m not willing to give
It wouldn’t help
I protest
unless you’re as confused as I am
you probably are in a way
let’s be honest
I’m only thinking about this because you seemed disappointed
It probably wasn’t over something I could have prevented or helped with
But I think you wanted certain words
and you didn’t receive them
Maybe you were just sad
sad to be leaving

Please don't open my heart
like a medicine chest
all these bottles keep me alive
I'm afraid you'll remove my best remedies
already I've let you see too many labels
the stained and dusty papers
your fingers brushed against some nerve
and the doors are beginning to close

I whisper
call the doctor

Why do I work so hard to appear pretty,
When beauty is my blood?
Why do I lay on the powder and paints,
When my skin could glow if I only let it?
Why do I envy her,
When God’s gifts to me, are just as wonderful?

What do I have to do to be beautiful?
What clothes should I wear?
Who must I please?
How must I speak?
What books should I read, if I read at all?
What shows should I watch, if I watch anything?
What masks look best with my stolen fingers?
What rings should I hang, and where must I put them?
What must be implanted, and what must be ripped away?
What must be covered up, and what must be dyed?
Is there anything I can remain?

Please everyone, and you please no one, someone wise once said,
Can I afford to please myself? To be everything I want to be?
Can I define the words for myself, without being hated?
I know the only way to happiness.
I know how I can please myself most fully, and that is by pleasing God.

growing beauty in the heart
too quickly
second guessed

covered by a timid hand
as you bring a smile to my face
my red alarms spring up to call it back

I don't know how close a friend can come
without getting too close

is there no place for woven souls?
without a tearing time
when others enter in to love
and separate the strands of mine

Will we then become
prior friends?

I've had many
prior friends

but as they drop away
in come more

and more deeply sink into my heart

each year has brought a dearer heart

It is the way
of friends
to love
and fall apart
It doesn't matter if you eventually lose your people, with each one learn to hold on stronger, learn to open up your heart, go deeper and fear not the end, for you need your friends, and a life without love is no life at all

No matter the path I take
Grace and Living water greet me
Elioinai Oct 2014
One of the laws of the world is that love must be proved.
Love is nothing without action,
And a sacrificial heart is invisible without sacrifice.
Words are sweet to hear, but do little for belief
Just as light does not aid sight without reflective surfaces,
Love lies limp if no circumstance comes where it must work and show itself,
We wonder at the cross, but it was necessary.
With the laws that God has established, I believe that it may have been impossible for him to love us and not die for us. Not dying would have been incompatible with his love, and the laws of love required death. Dying shows us the extent of his love. What would be the point of him loving us so much he would die for us, if he never chose to take that step?   Yes, there are many people who would die for their loved ones and never do, but they show the extent of their love in other sacrificial ways.  The cross was the only sacrifice that God could make, without it he could make no others.

I can face the giant, knowing I will win,
I can face the world, baring all my sin,
For the Lord is on my side, and paid it all before,
There’s nothing that can conquer me,
He’s locked and closed that door,

I dreamed that I was given,
All I needed and more,
To go where I’ve been sent,
Out of your treasure store,

Your hands are never lacking,
When I come a-asking,
And golden straw is always there,
To make the bricks, and share.

How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psalm 119:103
Elioinai Oct 2014
It’s kind of funny,
Actually,
How I like you like puppies,
Though I’m not afraid of puppies,
I’m afraid I might hurt them,
And no matter how much I want one,
I can’t have one,
I can’t have you.
I want to snuggle an adorable ball of fur,
And stare into some precious eyes,
Like I want to be loved by you.
I want to learn how to feed,
And care for a puppy,
Know where it likes to be rubbed and scratched,
Memorize the sound it makes,
When it misses me,
Like how I want to know and care for you,
And be known by you,
The feeling isn’t deep,
It’s not creeping crawling,
Spike that’s drawing out,
My heart,
Just a bittersweet desire,
For a dependable love.

I looked in the mirror
massaging my face with brightening oils
I noticed an old pimple scar as I smiled
purple spot under my mouth
almost deep enough to be a pinprick dimple
Cute, really
somehow that little dot of beauty
became to me an epiphany
And I realized
that the way I’ve always waited
is more than a scar, than a beauty mark
more than inspiration
for bleeding art
It’s an important part
it takes a key place in my preparation
for life and what’s meant for me
Elioinai Oct 2014
Is it just me?
What is it about you that makes me go all starry eyed and cliché?
Is it my own penchant for giddiness?
Your own words, she is in perpetual romance
You also said, A vampire would come,
To take my life.

I had a heart ring I had painted in purple and sparkly black, and N was playfully telling my future according to the colors. That was the night I fell in love with him, later I wrote the poem.
Elioinai Oct 2014
The words are long and pretty,
They sure sound strong and good,
But would you use them in the valley?
And speak them in the woods?
Its easy to sing of your blossoming love,
Much harder to show it to me,
Do you really love the ugly, and care for the least of these?
It’s easy to write a lovely word, but paint it in your heart,
That’s work

So I'm the Queen of Hiding
I'll learn to toss that title in the dust

At Manhunt I excelled, so long underbrush
Daily I did practice, as I played against myself
so well did I place the shadows all around me
I didn't know the game commenced
nor indeed that I was it

But I'll come out of hiding now

are sick
I don't know why
because life is pretty good
I smile genuinely

It's not pretty . . .
the longer we go without speaking the more like a doll you are
to me
a dimming figure in my mind
that I take out of a box
for pain
or entertainment
The truth
I remember only when I feel like being free
And I put my manikins away
Yours still draws or boils blood
when I lift its plastic hands
Your real hands harmlessly work far away
Do you have a manikin of me?
A face you remember to haunt you
plastic hands you lift to scratch or stroke your face?

This room shall be beautiful
after You rip down that faded wallpaper
and tear open old boards
the clouds of dust choke my throat
and crumbled tiles block my feet
But You see
the work is Yours
This room shall be beautiful
A bathroom is being renovated in my house. Our carpenter, my brother, thought it was going to be a small task but then the mud bed was discovered cracked, and under the sheet rock were rotten boards. It was discouraging and soon put us way over budget. My brother-in-law and a friend helped out as they could, but they are mechanics, not house builders.  My brother had to leave for college and entrust the task to other, busy carpenters. He had to let it be. He had to let go of the renovating responsibility. It was hard for him to accept that we didn't mind that he leave. We were going to be fine. The bathroom will be finished when it is finished, and it will be beautiful and new and more useful.   Let it be. Yes, it needs fixing. But it's not urgent. Trust others to help. It will be beautiful, one cut tile at a time.

You've been gone 24 hours
and the restlessness sets in
My job seems pointless
these little tasks so small
without you
What's the goal now?
The goals must remain unchanged
but inspiration is far off
I long to do something new
to turn from caring for human babies
to caring for earth babies
but I know not what is to be had
I'm praying about it

Any such hand can move the quill
deeper in your heart of ink
Rewrite your story
and Embolden the heading
Love
Dripping down in red and black
Salty water smudge the edges
but only for a while
The quill comes back to sharpen them
Carving like a sword
away the imperfections

I held your hands for the first time today
And I loved them
Your palms stretch out
So wide!
So strong!
Wide enough to wrap around mine with an inch to spare
Strong enough to hold them and calm my fears
Like those of a great bear
they complete you

I stooped over the flower
twisting
rending skin on thorns in my attempt to find a good angle from my phone camera
And I thought “How poetic”
Here I am
inconveniencing myself to photograph
something that is put into images constantly
And yet I battle to do it again
Like hope, this little bud appears
New today, like possibilities for love

My love is like a desert flower, drying in the sun
Then a drop of precious water comes, but one,
And at once life fills the plant, and color brightens blossom,
Green and luscious in a moment, my heart should be as light as balsam,
But I sowed a seed of fear, beside that seed of rose,
And every time a hydrant falls, that vine of fear grows,
It’s poisoned circles loop around my heart, try to keep my head from reeling,
But pain it only causes, increased unhappy feeling,
I put it there in hopes it would protect my soul,
Instead I find it makes an ever increasing hole

Like swimming in cold water
I am shocked back in my skin
Pure sensation pulses fiercely
and I know that I can win

Freedom spills into old scars
as I lose my fear of sin
For the first time hope comes swiftly
and whispers “now begin”

The chill that deters others
heart sparks my Phoenix anew
and I emerge from frothy depths
glowing peace like drops of dew

The eye doth long for stone abodes
deep quarries birthed to speak with clouds
the earthy treasures shine in sky
and mind remember ancient odes

that unashamed forethought
for children long born after
the ones who burned their strength away
to give two thousand better lot
with wisdom, warmth, and laughter

now our work seems fragile
fleeting
our teaching is too flighty
We wished ourselves so agile
that we forgot ancestral strength

We need that tall cathedral tower
or else we'll lose ourselves
forget that though our flesh is mist
our souls remain forever

All castles must return to sand
but let yours wait a little longer
put hands to work for enduring things
And let your mind much ponder
All must burn in the end, but tis best to work believing that it will benefit your children, to the seventh generation

So we wait
as humans on the earth
Each step is another into waiting
Every stroke and push
waiting for the next
whether you are sitting still
or racing down the road
We wait
For a time to wait again?
or is it for the The End?
To end all waiting
Does Wait beat like our hearts inside our chest
drip down from spinning lines of DNA
and cry upon the winds of Soul
Painting our Spirits with the background color
as all on the earth do share
In Waiting
