Footnotes
I Actually wrote this poem for July 9 and already had the word of the day for the 14th unbeknownst to me so I suppose it’s fortuitous
BLT Websters word of the day challenge
July14 nuance
A nuance is a very small difference in something such as color, tone, meaning
And bonus
July 9, 2025 Simulacrum
A superficial likeness of something usually as an imitation, copy, or representation.
In A babbling Brook words, flow free
Too early to know
too early to see
what will be
Pen to paper a poem is born,
Loose in content shape and form

TickTock the clock good and not.
Not the best concept I had
The spark, a word, a phrase, a line,
A moment in time,,
A Premise a plot

Quickly scribbling a rough draft down
Words, flow free quickness can be found
Then I find myself still looking around
Second-guessing the words flow meter sound
procrastination drives the poem
into draft mode until I see the light

Truth be told it’s procrastination
My infatuation it’s not complete
Elusive time passes
  revising in days weeks months
Sometimes it sits in exile
Out of the blue once in a while
The poem will come together
I smile

Revisions glow
It perplexes me to know
I struggle with this fight
at the end of the day,
when I read it
In my head, then out loud
I’m saying yes yes yes
it’s  done

Still I sit on it a day
just for fun
I Read it in the new day
of the dawning sun
Procrastination has gone?
Out of excitement or boredom,
I post the poem

It always surprises me when the poem
Is met with celebration
this painstaking collaboration
While other times, I’m sure
I’ve knocked it out of the park
Yet the poem remains in the dark,
not read
Silenced
a voice unsaid

There’s something to say for procrastination
It can be a healthy determination
Other times words, thoughts
flows so freely
I don’t take the time to pre-read
as much as I should
.3:00am I post a poem.
Never advisable nor good

Honestly, the poem is
really still a draft
Celebrated, with errors
never mentioned
I have to laugh

I wonder do they not see them?
Or are they just being kind?
I would appreciate negativity
In a private message
Not on the World  stage of opinion
You get further with honey
Then with vinegar
I’m not interested in sinister

BlT Webster’s word of the day challenge
July 7, 2025 procrastination
To procrastinate is to be slow or late about doing something that should be done, or about doing or attending to things in general
Keeping true to me this is yesterday’s word
I blew it. It’s absurd.
Today’s word July 8, 2025 is exemplary
Of which this would not be a example

Who are “They”
I’m just saying
Madder than a hornets
fit to be tired
It’s gonna be a bumpy ride
I’m continuous today
I’m speaking my mind in every way
My guff is full I have much to convey.
Who are they?

Where is congressional oversight?
“They “ won’t leave without a fight
Who are  behind  the elusive “they”
that hide a bill in the darkest night
people are told to vote on it ,without Sight

You can read the bill
after you voted it into law
Is that how all the flamboyant money disappears?
That would justify our suspicions our fears
“They say trust me ,
Predator or prey who are they?

This has been going on for decades
That is the excuse of their charades
Filibustering a bill that will help Americans
For the sake of their constituents
I wonder are they on drugs ******* barbiturate

who are “they “ beholden to
“They” got him into Office what were they buying?
“They” made a deal with the devil constant lying
Naïve, do gooders The government not on the level

Isn’t the whole principal flawed?
Predator or prey
Who are they? no more hiding
“They” Seek reek havoc in plain sight

Mostly peaceful protest fire bright
Burning Tesla in broad daylight
Congressional representatives bullhorn in hand
Calling the people To rise up to take a stand

How did they get into government
With their agenda on  race Hate
What about the oath “they” swore
American’s should be saying No More

Who are “they” that infiltrate our interior?
Insisting race, creed color, superior
Why do They find America inferior?
So much they want to tear it down.
Threatening the United States like a clown

Why Would they double down
Unable to profit from the lush trust funds they built
LLC’s exposed follow the money trail tilt
Who are they? How far how deep does this run?

Government officials go into politics to become rich
Off of the backs of the middle class and poor without a stitch  people don’t matter
Americans are waking up now know the score

To the obscene schemes Money laundering
Too fantastical to be true if we really knew
It doesn’t matter what letter is behind “their”names
both sides are lining their pockets,
Like Davy Crockett

feathering their cap for decades hidden
millions billions trillions hide it locket it
How deep does it go? We may never know.
Who are “They” who reap what they sew

Elon admits a target on his back he might be killed
The obscene amount of money power “they” yield
Scratch the surface, don’t go too deep
They’ll dig his grave, keep exposing, don’t sleep

Too far down the rabbit hole to stop now
Corruption in every agency people ask How?
Hear the accusations, give the benefit of the doubt
Ask motivation “They” who the loudest shout

What do “they”not want us to know see
Why do “they” put a false pretest leave it be
What do they stand to lose?
Follow the money innocent or guilty choose

I’m Not on either side.American citizens
want to know where our money was spent
It’s so incredible. It’s hard to believe it’s true.
Congressional hearings bring the receipts

Follow the money from beginning to end
Regardless, who and ware banking sends
America has the right to know what laws are being broke middle class and poor pocketbook spoke

When a person in power comes up for reelection
Their report card should be under inspection
Every bill “ they”voted on or said NO to
should be their report card for the people  to see.

No more behind closed doors. Americans are the bosses to see their test scores.
I’m on the side of Justice for
the United States of America

I’m on the sides of less government more freedom for the people. I don’t want to hear rhetoric double talk or hyperbole show me the proof no more stonewalling no more double talk lying and bamboozling no more stratagem

American people ask, how do you know when a government officials is lying?
punchline their lips are moving
People vote people are choosing informed facts no more boozing snoozing hush Mooney under the table no more special interest payments

Once you good name is lost. It’s lost forever.
They need to prove to the American people
What we bought and paid for
Protect those who are exposing the bad
Protect the whistleblower enough they’ve had
Bring it all to light and let’s clean up the mess
Lowering the budget is anybody’s guess

American towns are burning. What are we learning? They don’t want the truth to come out.
They want the **** killer murderers to stay in our country why?

Footnote
I started this poem when Biden was in office and it sat in my draft for a couple of years so this blast the past both administrations, both presidents
just goes to show. History has a way of repeating each other and not in a good way.
I’m not on either side. I’m on the side for the people. However, my Verison may be different, but I’d like to see America great again. Governor Newsom is putting out all these TV ads saying it’s about corporate greed two oil companies are shutting down if they are so greedy in getting so rich why are they leaving because they’re getting slammed with the cost and they can’t afford it. When the banks were falling down May, the government stepped in, but when they’re gonna be charging $10 a gallon for gas, nobody says a dang thing. Three phases of building low income housing for immigrants. Yet Americans have been waiting for years. The newhousing for immigrants
Will be complete in November.. Siri is not ready. We are small rural and we have three sheriffs. That’s it. There’s a small supermarket that was meant for their fishing boating people going up to the lake. This market is directly across the street from the New housing. The park right next-door is a favorite for drug addicts The city’s way to potential problems is to put in bright lighting. It was shining all the apartments that they just made it makes no sense. Immigrants will get free busing from one part to the other. Without a car this is not the place for anyone restarted a neighborhood patrol. I don’t know how effective that will be..

Anti Ice Riots
The saga continues

Day by Day
More or less in a desultory ride
Through the motions they find their stride
Until then, going along with the tide
Disappointing performance quality pride
Overall Purpose muddled in every way
It’s not what they do it’s what they say

Burning Tesla cars in the street
Throwing bricks at police
Protest officers walking their beat
Riot gear from head to feet

Without a soul
A Rioter’s goal
To take control
Unrelenting exacts a toll

City by the Bay LA
Peaceful protest Snatched away
Leadership lacking
Violent Rioters packing

Activist extremist in disguise
Hiding in plain sight realized
Extremist sleeper cells In the crowd
Violence encouraged allowed

Vandalizing stealing thievery looting
Speakers chanting recruiting
Their one true purpose deluding

A time will come when the messages is clear
Serpent slave time is near
Empowered they shove us to our knees
Evil thoughts do as they please

Rile up agitators
Governor Newsom says
The quiet part out loud
“ I don’t care”

Defiant, proud, inciting the crowd
Chanting rhetoric bullhorn loud
First he let the Palisades burn
Now it’s illegal immigrants turn

His practice lines are well rehearsed
Turned his back on the dead first
He told Police
Don’t intrude it will only get worse

The press President Trump media blamed
A Lying Beast cannot be tamed
Word by word verse by verse
The essence of an evil curse

Mayor Bass habitual, swearing
Lack of compassion nor caring
Hatred for the Presidency preparing
Destroy capitalism remnant rants daring

Trump wants
to stop those who
Escalate
Capitulate
Violate

The State is
Up for grab
Everything can be had
Break it Loot it take it all
California will eventually fall

The rich middle class moving away
Many ask, why do I stay?
God gave me  His call
It’s not time for California to fall,
The inertia of it all

Illegals fly the flag
of the country they fled,
Never wanting to return

While Burning the flag of
The country
they never want to leave
Rhetoric babble practice to deceive

This is not about blending in
This is an insurrection
What They want is to destroy America
Rebuild from the ground up

The destruction they have planned
For our country, our land
But we’re too ignorant to see
We are on our knees
Trying to appease and please
Because we put ourselves there

I grew up in California
On a small country farm
Local flavor friendly charm.
Gone; Community’s cities ghost town
One last look around
Massive areas
Burnt to the ground

Call a place paradise
Kiss it goodbye
A lump in my throat, a tear in my eye
One day I’ll say a final goodbye

Evil doers like locus destroy another city
It’s a pity it’s a shame unrecognizable blame
Drug lords human traffickers cartel gangs
Welcome to Los Angeles turf war claims

BLT Webster’s word of the day challenge
July 3, 2024 desultory
Desultory is a formal word used to describe something that lack a plan or purpose or that occurs without regularity. It can also describe something unconnected to the main subject or something that is disappointing in progress performance or quality.
CJ Sutherland Jun 28
Most go through the motions daily
without thinking Sunday 8:30 AM
Walking the park with my dog
I noticed something that seemed off
The kind of thing you can’t put your finger on
It’s a feeling a thought something
that made me turn and look again

A White middle-aged man heavyset
Wearing a white ill fitted dress shirt,
a red tie  Solid black dress slacks
It’s Sunday OK I could believe that
He had the hand of a little girl five maybe six
She was dressed in really short Daisy Duke jeans
A white tank top with flowers
Her blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail
Low at the base of her neck

Her head forward eyes fixed the ground
When somebody passes by I give the
Standard Greeting Hello good morning.
He replied good morning.

It’s what the child did behind her back.
That panicked me to the core
I needed to see it once more
She had left hand behind her back, her thumb in towards touching her palm
She was moving her little fingers in and out
Slow determination with urgency first,
I wasn’t sure what I saw

She looked over her shoulder
Then quickly , looked down at her hand,
Returning it behind her back and then
Glancing at him afraid he might see
head forward eyes to the ground
****** features emotionless frown
Not a word spoke, but you saw
something in her eyes  Fear
Almost a tear
The movements of the hand quicker
Fingers wider thicker
each time she looked behind at me
Attempting to get my to see
There was no interaction between
the adult male and the child except
for his controlling grip on her right hand

Next to the swings
There was this makeshift square blue tarps
Fashioned into an enclosure
He extended his hand and the hand of the little girl towards the enclosure.. A hand emerged from the within without the rest of the person being seen.
Again, her hand quickly extending and closing wildly gesturing now frantically apparent
The little girl disappeared in the enclosure

The man maintained distance waiting in silence
There were two young adult white, male and female, tattoos up and down their arms with them
Three children all boys, different ages I’m guessing
7,9,10  silent
They did not wiggle, or giggle .they did not do anything, but stand perfectly still.
Honestly I did not notice that at first.
My mind was fixated on the little girl

I approached them and said do you see that man and the little girl?  something seems off.
I explained to them about the distress hand signal
Taught to the children in schools in case they were ever abducted we’re in a situation they felt they could not speak and we’re not safe.

The young adult female unfazed said well he’s part of our church. Not They (the little girl) but He’s
I said something’s off. I hope I’m wrong
but there’s something wrong with this picture.
The the young adult woman offered no explanation or seemed concerned for the little girl’s safety .

The young adult man said nothing looked away avoiding eye contact
The three boys kept their heads
forward eyes downward
The park was empty
There was not a group of church people around
the park, it was this couple, the three boys and the man with a girl. All white.
I am not one who looks at color
however the police need
A full accurate description

I turned to the man standing there
waiting for the little girl and said
What church are you with?
He replied, LDS
I looked right in his eyes and said
that girl is in distress. There’s something wrong.. He didn’t say a word. He didn’t express concern.
. His mannerism was rigid.
My heart already pounding.

I wasn’t sure what to do.
I told him something‘s feels wrong
I offered him an opening to ease my suspicion
If everything was fine,
A normal response would’ve been
Him yelling, telling me off or
to mind my own business or
To reassure me, everything is fine Or
At least to ask me why I feel this way

Silence was not the correct response for the situation that I was escalating. I wasn’t yelling.
My voice was excited and loud I was shaking
This is where I made a mistake that could have caused those children their lives
I told him I’m going to make the call still nothing
I walked away and I was on the phone with 911

Looking right at the man
describing his features To 911 dispatch
I should not have alerted them that I was calling the police that gave them ample time
to Leave To get away

My husband said they would not do anything in broad daylight too much exposure

When the police got there, of course they were gone. That little girl‘s face etched in my memory
silent rage behind her fearful eyes.I failed her.
The police asked was the dad abusing the girl
He did not say he was the father. I told the police.
I didn’t witnessed any physical abuse.
Then what made you think something was wrong?

The little girl was doing that hand gesture they teach the children in school if they’re abducted or something’s not right oh, he said.
as if not fully impressed. I said I’ve been coming to this park for over 20 years. I have children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I know when something‘s off and there was something off with that little girl.

We were finishing our walk as the Police Man investigated minutes only the whole situation plays over in my mind..  had I been more inquisitive to see what car they drove.
LDS little girls don’t dress like that
especially on Sunday.

I wonder
What was behind that Blue square tarp enclosures. Who was the person that pulled her in?

There’s a group of people who said on the bench passing out flyers for their church the watchtower. I told them about what I observed, and one of the ladies was quick to say just because that man said he was LDS doesn’t mean he really was and she started to tell me everything wrong with that picture. Another man at the market walking me to my car stated he saw a man dress like that. It’s one of the scams they use their dress like a business person saying they’re out of gas. They left their wallet at home whatever the story is very but they’re dressed like business men so they don’t appear homeless and are more likely to get what they want or to be seen blending in. The store clerk said stay away from those guys they’re evil.

This is a cautionary tale. We need to be observant to our surroundings children’s lives are at stake.
The children in the school district are taught survival should you get lost in the wilderness in May? They go for a week at West camp. They’re taught how they could survive with a pine tree eating the bark drinking pine tea noodles where is north south east and west and what to look for when lost Basic survival. They are also taught in the event. They are abducted. You put your hand behind your back put your thumb towards your palm and you move your finger in and out when you can’t use your words this movement behind your back can alert people walking by that you’re not safe. There’s actually a corridor that starts in Sacramento works its way up towards our area traffic‘s the children in our small community and using our hotels and taking them up to Reno in Vegas never to be seen again. It’s called the look twice program. Only one time had I experienced this in our Market. Looked about 13 or 14 year-old Dressed in a **** Catholic school outfit thigh, high socks, really short skirt and a white button up blouse. But what really gave it away was the wig she was wearing it looked like the wig of a middle-aged woman. And having children and grandchildren, her attire would never be permitted in school. She was standing by the ice cream. I went up to her and asked her if she was OK and I was gonna get some ice cream for my grandchildren and what kind would be a good kind before she could say a word this man came and grabbed her and pulled her forcibly down the aisle. By the time I got up to the front desk, there were six other concerned parents, the police were called. The child was saved, and the man was put in jail the look twice program,
That was years ago. I certainly have never come across something with children so young I am one that minds my own business but when it comes to children, I’m a grandma the whole thing just gives a sick pit in my stomach, wondering where those children are tonight.

These nascent
Symptoms are growing
In intensity

I’m hot. I’m cold.
I’m hot. I’m cold.
Menopause is under sold
This is what happens
when you get old

There’s no set age
Every woman is different
Life is the gauge

This whole fiasco
could have been avoided
Had my doctor told me
Of the possibilities

Quick lickety-split
Jump up
leg cramp
Ready to set in

Cramps are not just
in the leg,
the upper arms,
the middle of your back
It’s just like that
No rhyme no reason
it’s menopause season

It’s more than just a cramp.
That won’t let go.
It seems to reach
My very soul.

Just when you hit
Your all time low,
there’s something new
Starting to grow

Restless leg syndrome
that’s a mouthful
The legs, have a mind
of their own

It drives me mad
This is not driving Miss Daisy
It’s driving me crazy

I wish I only had these conditions
Just add him to the list
Breath, focus,  cry
Wondering why

Getting through it
Stay calm,
it will go away
In a bit
These can be extremely bad
The worst condition I’ve had

I never imagined
There was something
worse
than body cramps

Restless leg syndrome
will make you beg
Please stop
Bending twist hop
God help
I’m at Wits end
Too much to contend

literally are not sure
what comes next
Perplexed

Body cramps vs Restless leg
Which is worse
Order me a casket,
A long black hurst
Can you get them
both together?
Thankfully, not yet

Jump before the
Leg sensation sets in
The body in a tailspin

Dead tired I need sleep
Life can’t get more bleak
Standing waiting for relief
rocking back and forth
Rational emotions head north
Is this par for the course?
Questioning my sanity
By duration immensity

by the side of my bed.
The sensation grows
lacking body self control
How long before they let go?

this new phenomenon
Does a number
In your head.

Women
One sure sign
You’re in menopause;

When you’re
standing
in the kitchen
Naked
with your head
in the freezer

And your husband
Treads lightly with Care
Broken egg shells everywhere
Does not dare engage
His wife a wild
Animal in a gilded cage
A quick glance
he Looks away
quickly walks by
He hears her muffled cries
Caution in his eyes
He has a million questions
Does not ask why

In frustration
All you can do
Is cry

Mrs. Goddard
Looked like Mary Poppins
Always a smile on her face
Caring, Kindness Grace
I wanted to please her
By doing my best
Ace every test

“If At first
You don’t succeed
Try Try again”

The reward
“To be a Study Buddy”
Help a friend do better
“A feather in your Cap”

We all wanted to be
The little engine that could
To always do good

“I can if I think I can”

Third grade was
A milestone
Our touch tone
It was the First time
Our voices were heard
Even the
Outlandish absurd

I wanted to
Come to school
To learn
“The Golden Rule”

Every morning
She smiled
Every inch
Every mile
She started
The class
With promise
We were beguiled
She had many sayings
Like Mary Poppins

“A spoon full of sugar
Helps the medicine go down
Is the most delightful way”

I still remember
“Silence is golden
So get rich quick”

We would settle in
Wiggling anxiously
In our chairs
Giggling without care
Soaking up
The happiness
In the  AIR
Glancing around
Anticipation giddy
Ready to get to
The nitty-gritty

It was a look
A glance
A waltz
A dance
An expression
Her finger
On her lips
She invited us…

“Are you ready?”
Every face, Smiled
“All right, Boys and Girls ”
“Put on your Thinking Caps”

Each eager child
Full grin smiles
One and all
Went through
The motions
Of putting on
Their Thinking Caps
Arms over the head
Adjusting it just right

She would ask
“Is it on
Good and tight”
We Readjusted our
Caps for good measure
Her face beaming
Smiling with pleasure

We saw our Cap
in our mind
By her
Design

That was the start
of  Our
Imagination

Infatuation
Admiration
Appreciation
Nurtured
We grew
Sublime

We were all
Diamonds
In the rough
With years of
Refinement
We will shine
Sparkle glow

Let our inside
Show

Don’t worry
About
Little chips
Imperfections
Polish and shine
Until
No detection

Five minutes
Seemed

Marched on

All we can do

Interminable
Things that have or seem to have no end, especially because they continue for a very long time.
That was the year a boy kissed me
I was madder than a hornet‘s nest. He put our friendship to the test. I had no interest in boys. I was a tomboy
I interested only in running faster, better, then the boys. Not because I wanted to be a Boy, but because I could
My 4 brothers called me a (tomboy) my father called me Charmin Carmen. That’s the year. I got my nickname.
My mom still put me in dresses, but I wore shorts underneath to maintain my propriety.
It wasn’t easy t climbing a chain-link fence with a baseball mitt in a dress, but I  did it gracefully!

Much to my chagrin
This is how a normal day begins

Just like a Mercurial Californian
Morning, noon and night
California girl’s foresight
Longing for weather just right

Too cold at night
Too warm by day
The weather needs to be
Just my way

As the days grow hot
We Dressing in layers
A feo pua
I’d rather not

Such the way of California play
Tank top light shorts, zip up hoodie
Bathing suit always underneath
As the weather increases
Articles of clothes releases

A bead of perspiration
Smudges artisan make up
Irritation Hours of conception
Many shade of perfection

Once translucent powder
Gets moist tacky
Splotched patches
Look, wacky

Protecting the complexion
Shadowing and contour deception
To get every color demure not bright
to make everything just right

Defeating the Sun continually heating
A neck cooler now, that’s cheating
The weather never used to be this way

A California day hazy in the morning
Without warning they begin
Santa Ana winds blowing, dies away
Ending in a perfectly comfortable sunny day

Now we contend with chem trails
Severe blankets of pollen
Covers everything Geez !
Even my dog has allergies

As a newbie, we are unaware
We go through life as if we care
Incompetent inept go here or there
Thinking that we know it all
Inevitably comes the fall

Then we slowly realize
As it begins, the End
of our demise
we didn’t compromise

However, it’s more
Than just the fall.
We thought
We were
Impervious
10 feet tall.

The older we get
The more we realize
The ignorant follies
Of the less wise

Pride before the fall
Comes towards us all
We paid no mind
To the warnings call

Greed, Lust,
A wild ride
Envy Wrath
Look inside
Gluttony, Sloth,
Our  Guilty Pride

Don’t let this list
Be your guide

It’s OK not to know everything
It’s OK to be a teen in between
It’s OK to misread a panic scene
It’s OK to admit your wrong

Do the dance,
Sing the song
Don’t act wise,
Apologize

Pretending
you know it all
Inevitably
The jig is up

Never ready For the call
Will you learn the lesson
of the fall
knowing you don’t
know anything at all.

There is always
a lesson.
To endure
It’s OK not to be sure
we were all

And a middle aged
Disillusion lost soul

There will be a time
When you’re not

Haiku
A modern haiku, like their traditional counterpart are short, focused on a single, a vocative moment or experience.
They often use strong imagery to create an impression on the reader.
While the 5 – 7– 5 syllable structure is often considered a starting point for traditional haiku modern haiku, poets are often experimenting with different line lengths and syllable counts. According to the haiku foundation and the poetry foundation. Traditional haiku have to do in nature..
While other types deal with human nature. It can be confusing, identifying the different types of haiku without, The poet.
Haiku is a wonderful expression of poetry.
English haiku differs from Japanese haiku as the language gives a different syllable count.
I call this poem a modern haiku in that it is using the theme of human frailty instead of nature,
even given the option of a different line syllable length as a traditionalist fundamental structure should not be altered.

not celebrating our Easter tradition
When I was growing up for Easter, we used to eat ham until I was an adult and I realized Ham is not something Christians should be having on most sacred day of Easter
A ham is considered an unclean animal.
Although the Bible refers to it for Jews, if you look back to all the diseases came out from eating ham, that’s a good enough reason to stay away from it. Yes, that means bacon too…
so I reverted back to Thanksgiving tradition. We tend to think everybody does the same thing for each events, but how wrong I was.

It’s not talked about in Hollywood
Certainly not among the pretty people
I’m referring to when an actor actress in bodies a role so well you generally don’t recognize them

I’m referring to their acting being so convincing that you see only the character unfolding,
even if it was only for a minute before it clicked
I’m not talking about minimal physical transformation, not heavy, prosthetics or CGI for example which would obviously disguise a person.

When an actor immerses themselves in a character
They are taking away their character completely
In doing so they’ find myself in a paradox
When does acting end and their character begin

They train all their life to be a believable character
To personify little idiosyncrasies to define depth
Part of this training is believing you are
who you say you are

At gatherings and parties they try
to be themselves But who is that?
They’re celebrated for other characters
they became, does that character remain
Are there attributes that glam onto
their psyche soul that won’t let go.

They become more unsure of the real world and their part in it. People accuse them of acting.
A pugnacious member takes issue argument, transpire the actor in a quagmire
Fight or flight what characteristics to prevail

Is it any wonder why a significant number of actors actresses, run to psychologists or psychiatrists for years of therapy or psychotherapy?.Major decisions rehashed for other’s opinion what should I do?

Think of the movies where an actor changed himself so much for a character that
you did not recognize him. if only for a minute.
I could name a few.

Keith Ledger as The Joker( his last role)
Fellow Actors said he was so scary.
They couldn’t even say their lines.
The darkness that came out of him

There are others, but these readily come to mine

Heath Ledger in Batman
Dustin Hoffman in Rain man
Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade
Matthew McConaughey in, The Buyers Club

Christian Bale in Machinist
Jake Gyllenhaal and Brokeback Mountain
Sylvester Stallone in Rocky

People’s burning desires come to California
To become a star, follow their dream they’ll go far
Life is not what it seems broke, sleep in the car
Are you willing to sell your soul to become a star?

Can you survive The Harvey Weinstein‘
Movie Mogul  type the casting couch slouch
Roofie, **** drug without  consent
or The music scene P Diddy type Hell bent

I encourage you to watch some of these movies where the actors are so far above the rest

Finding My Voice

I can think of younger days
My stories slowly fade away
Lessons learned how to love
How to mend a broken heart
Discern between the light and dark

I’m a simple poet a realist to the core
Youth Arguing fighting, keeping score
Impetuous, impatient, demanding
Stubborn opinionated long standing

Writing in the heat of a fight
When my wrath verbally take flight
All of my poetry comes from within
From the depth of my soul original Sin

How do you mend a broken heart?
That’s how I write how I start
As I age, I entered into another phase
Most of which for me a mazes

I have the grace and wisdom to hold on
A movie, A word, A sentence,, A song,
All day long these muse I choose
They carry me back to a simpler day
In a world, that believed in God we pray

Today, my life simplicity ever changing
Duplicity beliefs are constantly rearranging
I am 64 with 1 foot out the door
New styles of poetry I explore

Believe, hope, faith, pray
These are not just words I say
Just as poetry is the fabric of me
No time like the present to write poetry

Malleable minds
Growing where knowledge finds
Qualities of learning grows in kind
Like a sponge soaking over time
Seeking knowledge they will find

Thirst for more they learn
Raising their hand, take their turn
The wheels in the mind discern
Subscribe to the attributes time churns

That aha moment when they grasp the concept
Once knowledge is learned it’s kept
in their mind and in their heart
it’s malleable, but it’ll never part.

The gift of education is more than If you could
It’s changing a person for the betterment of good
Giving them the keys to success learn and grow
The seeds of wisdom understanding they sew.

Education is something no man can take away
It’s more then what Teachers say
Each student calculates reason their own way
Applied concepts emerging intelligence at play

The weight of a valued teacher insurmountable
teachers don’t measure up should be accountable
Playing with impressionable minds is precarious
to knowingly poison that mind is nefarious.

Benign describes something that does not cause harm or damage. In medical context. It is used to describe something that is not threatening life as in a benign tumor.

FYI
Doctors are now turning away, Medicare patients
I currently drive an hour and a half to two hours to doctors as the closest available that will take my insurance. Concierge doctors is on the rise. I’ve had so many doctors. Tell me I don’t take any insurance. People will get sick. They will pay.
Then they asked me where do you go for medical service. I look at them earnestly and say oh no I don’t go to any doctors around here. What I’m really saying is I don’t go to self-serving money hungry doctors who milk the system.
But many people are not that savvy when it comes to doctors, they think of doctors as gods. I did Dr. credentialing I know better. When you’re looking at a doctor who’s on his fourth med legal in fraction almost ready to be kicked off of all insurance company lists and not able to have patience and we’re supposed to pretend this is a wonderful doctor for our staff. I handled the med legal cases example, a patient dies their file goes under lock and key on my desk and I have to find something else at fault, other than my doctor. The machine hadn’t been serviced faulty equipment  yeah
I was a certified biller and coder. Then I started teaching at a post secondary two year degree program for medical billing. I did doctor education throughout the United States worked on emergency hotline all different areas within the medical field. I had my own medical billing service business chain, doctors and staff how to build correctly Education classroom to their office.. the lack of education in these office is astounding when somebody tells you the balance is your responsibility, call your insurance and make sure they build it correctly. 33% of errors in billing and they try to build a patient unwittingly especially older patients pay it.. They might just be asking for doctor information.

I do raise the suspicion in triplets and quadruplets that would be harder to carry those are typically followed by lower birth rates in a time when babies did not survive. Perhaps her did thrive!

Old People Smell
Have you
ever been
in a
convalescent
home?

Hugged an
old person
all alone

There’s that
musty smell.
Hell
It’s
every where
Even in
Their hair

.
Yet nobody
else notices.
Should I
tell Grandma
it’s there?

I’m not
Suggesting
Snarky
Comments

Rather
A
Graceful
Hew
Of
Compassion

I
Could
Never
Pretend
I don’t care
I certainly
would want
to know

If I’m
giving off
A pig pen
Glow

A Horrific
Odor
As I get older
A
Bad smell
I can’t tell
Do others
ignore it
From me?

Is it
dead skin
in their
clothes
that makes
me
want to
hold my
nose?

Nobody knows
for sure
If they did,
there would
be a cure

For now,
Lots of
Quality
Expensive
Perfume cologne
A multitude
The old
Condone

As
Grandfather
would say
“pull
my finger
The odor
will linger”

I will always
remember
that smile
on his face

He was
An old
Chester Cat
Top hat
Grin

He
Used up
all nine
lives
Just
Like that
A
Mischievous
Smile

The bright Side
when
I pulled
his finger,
That
Incredible
smile
Also
lingered

I don’t know why you smell that with elderly people, but they don’t seem to notice. Nobody seems to say anything. What’s the deal? Is that what I have to expect for real.?

How’s The Weather?
My brother married
A vivacious woman
She positively glowed
as effusive compliments
echo by my brother

She beguiled him
With her charms.
She was a cynosure
Of all eyes
As she walked
Into the room

As time passed
Their love
Became volatile

My brother and I
Devised
Our own language
Though the use of
Weather Terms;

It’s a sunny day
meant
A good time to visit

Cloudy weather
Changing Rapidly
meant
She’s about to blow.
Not advisable to stop by

The weather terms I worried about most;

Thunderstorms, Eminent Danger

Lighting Strikes likely Twice

I only heard this report once;

A Cyclone Twister
Appeared out of nowhere
Run for the hills
Nowhere to hide
No one is safe
Probable Casualties

My reply;
Yep I’ll skip the visit
To my Brother’s today

Brother’s reply;
Yes a good judgment call
Little Sister

My reply ;
Thanks for the heads up, Bro

I’m a Smooth Sailing Breeze
Perhaps I’ll Catch you
On the way back.
Depending on where
The Weather Blows

Brother’s s reply

“Bury me at Sea

I fear RIP”

I think we’re just the kind of people who don’t quit. you take the good with the bad regardless of the situation you keep going and there’s always tomorrow. There’s no such thing divorce. If you think about it, if you know you’re gonna be together tomorrow, it kind of takes the sting out of those hurtful comments. more than 50% of all marriages end in divorce.

Footnote
Every day all day long, we make choices between doing something good or doing something bad evil. Each of us have the capacity to be the good Samaritan or to be somebody’s nemesis. And the person we choose in the path we take is predicated on who we are and what we feed
Most people don’t know ,in the parable of the good Samaritan. The injured  man on the ground was the Samaritan’s worst enemy. His nemesis. Yet he showed kindness and passion.paying for his care.

Of how much blood was shed to get us to where we are today. Nothing and nobody is perfect, but we can stand proud as probably the last nation for what it is on this earth. To those who speak ill of America,

For your happiness, you seek life elsewhere.

Luck of the Irish
CJ Sutherland Mar 17
St. Patrick’s Day
In the local pub
I met my love
Drinking a pint of brew
He swept me off my feet
We fell in love before we knew
Romance so sweet

However I had a major problem an issue
I cried through a box of tissue
He had a tattoo of his ex-wife name
It night have been the end game

Big bold letters on his upper arm
His handsome facade lost its charm
Trish, my wish I wanted it removed
But what would that prove

Outwitting an unwilling participant
While His new lady love enchants
Tattoo a final decision to make
It could be the end of a beautiful romance

Winning will not be a piece of cake
We are both opinionated headstrong
An argument lasting all life long
A miracle it will take don’t forsake

The humiliation was my curse and cause
Except the past else relationship pause
We needed to find an amicable solution
To cease irreconcilable harm
He was impervious to my suggestions
We were at odds, on opposite sides
A revolution An amicable resolution

My darling man of reason
Wanted to clear the air
Avoided committing  treason
He wanted to be fair

In hindsight it might be a different ride
Some tattoos are hard to hide
he wondered how he would feel
If his wife had another man’s name for real

On her *** now that’s a show of style and class
The ex-wife carries His name without shame
still on her **** cheeks large letters, nice and neat
He smirked at the visual and size

He wonders as he slumbers What her
new boyfriend Would think deduce
White flag he issues calls for a truce

I hold my temper,
but stood my ground
I smiled spoke in a soft sweet voice
Miraculous patience I found
Leaving him little to no choice

Well, dear my name is not Trish
Resolution is, my only wish

The day was done
a clever girl Won
Sublime heart and mind
Contentment for all of time
I would find

Was it such a large price to pay?
What would you do or say?
to resolve the situation
in amicable way?

If He added a line under the letter T in Trish
He can represent Irish
40 years of marital bliss
Came down to this
a simple line
in the proverbial sand
ain’t love grand

my darling lad drinks a pint of brew
to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
to pass the time away of the change of his tattoo
The luck of the Irish now he knew

Happy wife happy life
A tattoo is forever think twice
Your decision might cause strife
Any name is simply a roll of the dice

Now, my Irish pappy
isn’t really Irish but remains happy
Resolution on his arm sleeve
a lesson learned a tale to believe

BLT Webster’s word of the day challenge
March 13, 2025 CURFEW
Curfew refers to a law or order that requires people to be indoors after a certain time at night, as well as to the period of time when such an order or law is in effect it can also be used to refer to a time set by a parent or caregiver at which a child has to be back home after going out

The Phrase
“Never send to know for whom
The bell tolls; it for Thee”
Originated from John Donnie’s meditation 17
and means we are all connected, and the death of any person, even a stranger, is a loss to all of humanity, as we are all part of the same human experience

Ernest Hemingway use the phrase as the title of his novel  “For whom the bell tolls”
The phrase can be used as a metaphor to emphasize the interconnectedness of
Humanity and the importance of caring about the events and people even those far away

Today is my fake birthday
On my 16th birthday,
I filled out the paperwork
at the DMV for my drivers license

The Paperwork came back
Invalid date of birth
How can that be
I knew when I was born !

I requested a copy
of my birth certificate,
Three  months later
I was stunned to find out

The date I celebrated
For 16 years was wrong
My fake cake birthday song
Off By a couple of weeks.

That’s bogus it stinks.
One of eight children
We line up roll call
We all had a number

I was number six
I was lost in the shuffle.
We had many nannies
Babysitters too

perhaps one of them knew
My brothers and sisters
Don’t remember curious
But nothing really serious

they all thought the 10th
was my true birthday
Both parents are no longer alive.
There’s no one to ask

How this happened or why
To be fair, this happened
to my younger brother as well
But his was only one day off

They say we spend our adult life
Getting over our childhood
I thought mine was fine
until I was lost in the shuffle.
I have a brother who will send me a text or call me on my fake birthday and he’ll laugh and sing happy birthday and then say not. I didn’t remember it on my right day, but he remembers it on my fake day which is today March 10 the way I look at it is none of the other brothers or sisters remembered my birthday at all so at least even though he’s mocking me jokingly not at least he’s talking to me that’s a good thing right

As soon as we have, the thing we thought would make us happy, we move on to something else in that too becomes our drive and focus dangling the carrot in front of your face, changing the rules along the way
I used to think age was a state of mind
Working my whole life nose to the grind
Turbulent years have not been kind

Was there a specific moment life rearranged
When I began to notice change
Overtime life dreams became estranged

Began to move a little slower love not as bright
Cancer demands choices joy is out of sight

Illness take its toll
Pain can change the soul
Bulging disc back spasms knees give out
Numb feet neuropathy pain throughout

Forgetful, lost thoughts
The haves, and the have Nots
Memory once Sharp as a tack
Scatterbrain recollection now I lack

I understand why they call
Alzheimer
The long goodbye
Why, did I come into this room?
Frustrated can’t remember gloom looms

Legs give out falter unexpected falls
Yelling, screaming, crying, deaf ear calls.
On the floor flat on my back
processing where I am at

Not completely aware
How I came to be there
Mental assessment first things first
Instant flood of pain burst

Anything broken bleeding bruised
Knot on the head, lose tooth, blood oozed
I rub emollients to soften and sooth
Aspercreme BenGay, which one to choose

Triage situation urgent versus emergency
Elderly fall risk develop a contingency
Scrapes cuts occasionally a broken wrist
Off kilter slipped twist landed on the fist
Unable to get up nobody around
Floundering helplessly on the ground,

Surgeries total replacement both knees
Unable to put pressure on both of these
Not as simple as it sounds,
To pick yourself up off the ground
I can roll over
Than what?

Scoot crawl wiggle on my backside
Down the hall iPhone the goal my guide
Traverse down a few stairs a slide cried
Instant pain runs down the spine
Pray every moment for strength I’ll be fine

Solution: need a chair to pull up on
Everybody gone for how long?
Quickly learn to fend for myself
Shoot, the iPhone up high on the 3rd shelf

A horrific thought resides
Creeping seeping an emotional tide
After a fall my friend died
He hit his head on the kitchen granite table
Wounded bleeding Unconscious unstable

He could have lived the police surmise
Elderly incapacitated facts surprise
Investigation what happened evidence resides
Estimated  time on kitchen floor for three days
In and out of consciousness, craze haze

He bleed to death.
On the kitchen floor
His daughters will confess
Never able to talk to him ever more

Nobody came to visit. Not a single call
Loved ones should not die from a fall

A prominent man of well to do means
Living situation wasn’t what it seems
A celebrated man of stature
Tasked in war enemy capture
A battleship under his command
Near his end, he can hardly stand

father of two his children the man they never knew his adoptive family battleship cast and crew

AN EMOLLIENT IS SOMETHING SUCH AS A LOTION THAT SOFTENS AND SOOTHES
I am 64 and my husband is 77. We’re in a new phase of life and it’s not always pretty . My husband is falling all the time, he rolls over and falls out of bed. I had to put up a bed rail. He’s got all his faculties about him, but his numb feet makes him unsteady neuropathy. This is just a brief little picture of some of the elements we’re dealing with, but surely this is  a typical picture of the elderly today. We are now in the phase when our friends are dying I pray. today is a precious gift. sometimes I worry what tomorrow
Will bring. Is today our last normal day??. what will I need to do to survive when he ‘s gone?. Tomorrow is promised to no one live today to the fullest. It could be your last day.. the worry of the unknown I don’t let it take hold, but sometimes it gets the best of me.. death will come for us. All all we can do is smile when he comes to call..

3-5-25 ASKEW
ESKEW  means not straight or at an angle and can be used
both as as both an adjective and an adverb
Bonus Word
WONKY
Wonky British English: is used as a synonym  of ASKEW
Both unsteady  shaky, awry wrong
They are watching you

A dilapidated billboard sign
From a time, unable to rewind
Large blue eyes behind a pair of glasses
Overlooking the valley of ashes
( F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby.)

They are watching you

The haunting waste of the past nothing lasts
Which linger through its irreversible varnish
The eyes, dimmed vacant, eternally blind tarnished
Forgotten , too many days under the scorching sun
A solemn dumping ground can be found for no one

They are watching you

What’s left of the world is unrecognizable
A waste land, It’s a small world after all
Wake up Rise up Here God’s call
Echoes of the past voiced by the small

They are watching you

A Draconian government grew
All communist too
People didn’t realize what’s in store
Reminiscent of the Book 1984
(George Orwell‘s dystopian novel 1948)

They are watching you

Limited words concept control
Government’s grip won’t let go
People stifled language remove
No praise stand above or to prove

They are watching you

No freedom to think or speak
A slave No better life to seek
Obey don’t ask don’t say
If you try, they’ll take you away

They are watching you

The Past rewritten History gone
A citizen’s job all day long
Dumb society down
Shopping malls in town
Closed burned to the ground

They are watching you

Issued items from the government store
Refused a new razor blade on the knees implore
Yet expected to be clean shaven evermore
The week seek Black market contraband
If caught you lose your hand

They are watching you

Reeducation they proclaim
They know your name
A cog in the wheel, food you sought to steal
The government knows what’s best they maintain
Stay docile. This is not a game.
Driven MAD your mind breaks plan insane

They are watching you

Food scarce people emaciated
Every race creed color Martyrs created
The rich people are getting fat
They retort nothing wrong that

They are watching you

Death of the poor that’s what’s in store
For the good the betterment of mankind?
The best of humanity can no longer find
Too many mouths to feed if they have worth
they are spared beyond that no one cared

They are always watching you

Footnotes
While attending university a minor in literature two books that stayed with me throughout my life are the great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald, and George Orwell‘s 1984. Gatsby, the billboard always watching and the symbolism throughout the book that permanently in my mind that billboard and its significance. George Orwell‘s 1984 was laughed at for so many years , there’s no way it could be a possibility. But today many things in that book are coming to pass. It’s as if “they” use that book for a roadmap to where we are today. Yet people live in a bubble they don’t think an out anything outside their bubble, they stay out of trouble while man’s freedoms are slipping away.

Pomp and Circumstance
CJ Sutherland Feb 28
A gallant man
Donned his Top Hat
Tipped the brim
Smiled ceremoniously

As the young ladies passed by
A glint, a gleam
In the corner of the eye
A gentleman by and bye

At the close of the day
The foyer was the place
An unspoken ceremony
Of  Style and Grace

He Doffed
His outer wrap
Dress Coat Top Hat
Cleaned and pressed

Kept preserved
For the well dressed
At the ready
Of the gentleman‘s leisure

Until the next day
For the well deserved
Sanctimonious
Ceremonial
Continually observed

A prominent display
Of pomp and circumstance
(Pompenstanse)

An elegant dance
Of the well to do
In the year of our Lord 1882
