"pledges" poems
Two things I had never asked for, not these things not from you. Honour and loyalty are pledges oaths taken to one whom fealty is owed, a king or master. Loyalty and honour, not always given willingly, freely. Honour and loyalty are stiff, hard, formal words- a debt you feel you must pay. If this is how it is to be, know your debts are paid, you are absolved. I once had your love and friendship, but in lieu of those do not endeavor to fill this space with what you think is necessary. Your honour and loyalty, save, for those more worthy, for those who want this from you, for those who do not know how infinitely more you are capable of.

Honour And Loyalty
"This heat and this blaze harm and burn me, please turn me away" She said crying out into the endless hell, her stay And she continued crying out, Loud even whilst she was about, to burn to dust Her boiling blood, gave the surroundings a smell likewise rust Until the Lord finally answered her call >"If you are granted this wish, will you ask for anything else at all?"< In her pain, in her agony she could only respond "No, I swear by your greatness, I will not go beyond (this wish) " Her wish was fulfilled, she was out of hell, But, this made her ask for more, would it suit her well ? " I beg you oh Lord, bring me forward, just to the gate of paradise, I have no other wish, I promise...please..it would be nice" So her Lord would say: >"Didn't you promise not to ask for anything more ? Woe to you, who swore (by my name)! Oh you who was created from the soil...how treacious you are" She kept begging and pondered so far " I swear by your greatness I will not ask anymore, Am I for you, but a useless ***** ? " And she will continue to promise and pledge, Until she was finally brought to the edge The gate to paradise When she looks inside, she would see its vigor charm and pleasure But remembering her promise she would remain silent, in front of this treasure Then, eventually, unable to bear this...she would scream " Oh Lord, let me enter paradise, it is my greatest dream " And again her Lord would add: >" Did you not make all these oaths and pledges not to ask for anything else ? Is it not enough that I brought you out of hell ? You are still sad ! Oh, woe you, how treacious you are " Tugged in her misery she couldn't help but feel down Though she didn't bother to shed more tears, just frown " Please don't make me the most miserable of your creation, Please forgive me and make heaven my home, my final station" And she would continue to ponder until her Lord would laugh As he did, she was able to enter heaven, its most divine half When she was in, it was said >" Make a wish, it will come true"< Happiness overcame her, growing faster than bamboo! She kept on wishing, until there was nothing left to ask for And thus, the former human, lived in bliss From now on and forever, never bored by this ~ Umi

As this world runs in cruelty and in greed, Our eyes see the world perfect-blindly. Those who have power stay unfair and unjust, indeed - The stated laws were implemented tightly. Power over humanity exists in today’s world. We as powerless have no right to scrutinize, but to concur. Their pledges remain twirled - The hurdle stays in abundance with no cure. It is in us where the grievous suffering is in store; And we have none to succor them all. The hunger and incurable malady strike humankind in any form. It led to increased mortality, decreased economy, but who to call? Whoever has power, our safety cannot be guaranteed – They are the ones that makes our life at risk. They stand as an impediment for our nation not to succeed. Their fall is soon our victory – this is not in the pace-brisk. It’s been a year, still no sign of good deed. Half of the world is asleep – Some shock for awakening their soul is what they need. We have lost enough; at least we have ourselves to keep. The string of our patience reached its limitation. Rich people hoard too much and now most of us left deprived. Who’ll lift marginalized Filipinos in our nation? – Who'll give us fair allocation that is incumbent for us to survive? Tedious journey might it seem. Our souls’ little voices are still unheard. What life this could be without our soaring dream? – We shall move our mountains even gratification is deferred. Now, the time is ours to stand as one with clenched hands, It’s time for us to deplore and abhor their thoughts. It’s time to listen in our souls' little voices to be heard at once. And it’s time for us to break the darkness by our flaming oath. - Aubergine Cher Bautista

That's not what I meant to say. I know my words glide through your flesh like a hot knife through soft butter, But we both know that muscle only bows to a master outside... That demon that lies sleeping beneath a cavern of insecurity inside my skull Pledges loyalty to only one master And you know I don't like to talk about him. I speak for redemption. I can't live my life knowing that everyone knows what I am. Vindicate me so that I can get a moment of sleep and maybe then I won't hate you so much. Sure, I'd like to crush your teeth out of your head, But what would that do but send you into swirling fits, Speaking blasphemous truths through your gums, beating? Say you forgive me. I deserve it. I need it and you know you need it. Quid pro quo. Let me hurt you so you can forgive me. Vindicate me. You need to forgive like I need forgiveness.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Infinity's Mirror by Nat Lipstadt Two mirrors, set in opposition observe created notional blending, a reflecting pool of bonding's of unglued, contrary compositions. Mirror to mirror, his imagery, fuses to Sylvia's images, hers, faintly recollected, now living face, face to face, with his past insurrections, alters his future visions. From cold water lake she's drawn, impaled by refracting regrets, retrieved, drawing her words upon him, an awakening slap to drink, beloved, tragic magic, infinitely captive. But this old man's tiddlywinks, land-locked words, blunted instruments, needy for release & salvation, are neither silvered or exacting, just stains on a dulled, tarnished brass spittoon, except for the brunt'd bunting of lines across his roughened terrain'd face, black and white, pen and ink etched illustration of howling agitation. His words worn down, hardened, red faced, purloined speckled pellets, damp to roll on down her rutted, almost ancient, tear streak paths, disbelieved superstitions, sacrificed for one of her living morsels of words. Man, here to her, pledges allegiance, audaciously defiling her poetic sanctity, a visage endless repeated, delivers her shiny poem-poised countenance, even though no forgiveness from time can a mirror afford for either, from her words, confession born, terrible truths beyond, beyond the finite. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mirror by Sylvia Plath I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions. What ever you see I swallow immediately Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike. I am not cruel, only truthful--- The eye of a little god, four-cornered. Most of the time I meditate on the opposite wall. It is pink, with speckles. I have looked at it so long I think it is a part of my heart. But it flickers. Faces and darkness separate us over and over. Now I am a lake. A woman bends over me, Searching my reaches for what she really is. Then she turns to those liars, the candles or the moon. I see her back, and reflect it faithfully. She rewards me with tears and an agitation of hands. I am important to her. She comes and goes. Each morning it is her face that replaces the darkness. In me she has drowned a young girl, and in me an old woman Rises toward her day after day, like a terrible fish.
247 What would I give to see his face? I’d give—I’d give my life—of course— But that is not enough! Stop just a minute—let me think! I’d give my biggest Bobolink! That makes two—Him—and Life! You know who “June” is— I’d give her— Roses a day from Zanzibar— And Lily tubes—like Wells— Bees—by the furlong— Straits of Blue Navies of Butterflies—sailed thro’— And dappled Cowslip Dells— Then I have “shares” in Primrose “Banks”— Daffodil Dowries—spicy “Stocks”— Dominions—broad as Dew— Bags of Doublons—adventurous Bees Brought me—from firmamental seas— And Purple—from Peru— Now—have I bought it— “Shylock”? Say! Sign me the Bond! “I vow to pay To Her—who pledges this— One hour—of her Sovereign’s face”! Ecstatic Contract! Niggard Grace! My Kingdom’s worth of Bliss!
I believed I was an immortal Until you began opening portals To the future and the past To the needle and the flask Portals that warp my mind Like space and time Until I dematerialize From the appearance of lies This portal I must climb back through When all the lies have become true Like when they said portals couldn't be climbed For there are no ledges Only pledges Of a hatred death wish That leaves me breathless The portals had to be sealed You became my quantum mechanic The tires of the DeLorean squealed As we abandoned my stationary driveway And started rectifying my past By driving forward The portals' gravitational pull was lifted And I could walk again A pedestrian in paradise Until you teleport into the rain And I teleport into my brain Becoming a prisoner To thoughts that travel at the speed of light And create a beautiful spectrum in the mirror you presented to me I fear the day you shatter our light barrier You'll see you're more mature And fly away like a jet that's harrier Because once you can see my thoughts You'll sell all the stock you bought You'll see I'm merely mortal And you'll open new portals
solo piano and contemplation songs in D minor to distract desolation and turn it into poetry bittersweet, solemn, raw emotion encapsulated through rhetoric into the sound waves, into the billows a letter read aloud, a message in a bottle with melancholy rigor, and the finest of pledges to sentiment, a vow to exhibition and art, and commitment to fighting trespassers but please, dear, don’t escape, the woods of stability is for the wild and those who are lifetime trained so toast to passion, stay for the verse delay the sojourn for the song and show often rest is the answer to unsettling dreams sip the grape vine, if you please, but not forget the pen and paper by your bedside, never neglect the manuscript, not ever cease the creation write away the man that left you, destroy the character in your prose, demolish the utopia he once yearned, a poet’s fists are stronger than the fighter’s for the writer’s battle continues beyond the ring step out of the sorrow, relay the violin’s lingering echo, and one day the call outside will pause for a tranquil summer day when you are not alone
Fair pledges of a fruitful tree, Why do ye fall so fast? Your date is not so past But you may stay yet here awhile To blush and gently smile, And go at last. What! were ye born to be An hour or half’s delight, And so to bid good night? ’Twas pity Nature brought you forth Merely to show your worth And lose you quite. But you are lovely leaves, where we May read how soon things have Their end, though ne’er so brave: And after they have shown their pride Like you awhile, they glide Into the grave.
We all make pledges. We all make vows. Some just said, some very sincere. Too you, I give my love. My word I'll forever love you. Too you, I give my heart forevermore. Doctors take an oath. Lawyers, do too. So why shouldn't I take a forever pledge to solely love only you? Too you, I swear to protect. Put my life before yours if ever attack. Yes, I  got your back.
Blest pair of Sirens, pledges of Heav’ns joy, Sphear-born harmonious Sisters, Voice, and Vers, Wed your divine sounds, and mixt power employ Dead things with inbreath’d sense able to pierce, And to our high-rais’d phantasie present, That undisturbed Song of pure content, Ay sung before the saphire-colour’d throne To him that sits theron With Saintly shout, and solemn Jubily, Where the bright Seraphim in burning row Their loud up-lifted Angel trumpets blow, And the Cherubick host in thousand quires Touch their immortal Harps of golden wires, With those just Spirits that wear victorious Palms, Hymns devout and holy Psalms Singing everlastingly; That we on Earth with undiscording voice May rightly answer that melodious noise; As once we did, till disproportion’d sin Jarr’d against natures chime, and with harsh din The fair musick that all creatures made To their great Lord, whose love their motion sway’d In perfect Diapason, whilst they stood In first obedience, and their state of good. O may we soon again renew that Song, And keep in tune with Heav’n, till God ere long To his celestial consort us unite, To live with him, and sing in endles morn of light.
For days it was as if I never existed. You have flung me out of your world like a wilted flower from your vase. I have treasured our unuttered pledges— rising with your name as a prayer on my lips, breathing the morning breeze, marveling, oh God, isn’t this the same fragrance my dear one breathes! I waited beneath your window last night, heart aflutter under the moon, for a rustle at the curtain, a fleeting glimpse of your shadow... Throughout you kept it shut.
She was a beautiful mess, Yanking out her auburn hair in distress. The agony had her heart aching, Her frail structure shaking. She was a beautiful mess, Wishing she had never confessed. Sure she was rough around the edges, But she stayed faithful with her pledges. She was a beautiful mess, Telling herself she was worth less. Her amber eyes were now puffy, Her tomato red nose completely stuffy. She was a beautiful mess, But the truth was she had been confused nonetheless. She knew she deserved better than him, And determination surged into her with a whim.
IMPERTURBABLE
Where contemplation finds her sacred spring, Where heav’nly music makes the arches ring, Where virtue reigns unsully’d and divine, Where wisdom thron’d, and all the graces shine, There sits thy spouse amidst the radiant throng, While praise eternal warbles from her tongue; There choirs angelic shout her welcome round, With perfect bliss, and peerless glory crown’d. While thy dear mate, to flesh no more confin’d, Exults a blest, an heav n-ascended mind, Say in thy breast shall floods of sorrow rise? Say shall its torrents overwhelm thine eyes? Amid the seats of heav’n a place is free, And angels open their bright ranks for thee; For thee they wait, and with expectant eye Thy spouse leans downward from th’ empyreal sky: “O come away,” her longing spirit cries, “And share with me the raptures of the skies. “Our bliss divine to mortals is unknown; “Immortal life and glory are our own. “There too may the dear pledges of our love “Arrive, and taste with us the joys above; “Attune the harp to more than mortal lays, “And join with us the tribute of their praise “To him, who dy’d stern justice to stone, “And make eternal glory all our own. “He in his death slew ours, and, as he rose, “He crush’d the dire dominion of our foes; “Vain were their hopes to put the God to flight, “Chain us to hell, and bar the gates of light.” She spoke, and turn’d from mortal scenes her eyes, Which beam’d celestial radiance o’er the skies. Then thou dear man, no more with grief retire, Let grief no longer damp devotion’s fire, But rise sublime, to equal bliss aspire, Thy sighs no more be wafted by the wind, No more complain, but be to heav’n resign’d ’Twas thine t’ unfold the oracles divine, To sooth our woes the task was also thine; Now sorrow is incumbent on thy heart, Permit the muse a cordial to impart; Who can to thee their tend’rest aid refuse? To dry thy tears how longs the heav’nly muse!
I have a passion for graveyards,           for ghosts and secrets lurking below overturned soil, cracked headstones screaming haunted pledges,           ripe grass fertilized by those we love. The perfect place for a sunlit picnic.   Jupiter hangs low in the pregnancy of midnight,           lord of my eternity. A sustenance to fuel my blood and feed my soul,         we spend our nights swapping juniper berries and allegories. You’re my albatross, my cemetery stone, a Cheshire catalyst embedded in my soul.
It's okay, I'm suppose to look like Hell, been sweating out this poison for a couple days but I have to fight these Phantoms I'm tired of waking up in pain Sick of not knowing who I am I've been here far too many times running in circles for far too many years running from every single tear But I shall run no more. And if I must, only towards it, not from No more confessions, only promises No more apologies, only solutions no more excuses, only me. I know, I know, I know I've said this all before again, and again, My empty pledges never get old only my body and soul do But don't give up on me I've been through worse, you know somehow, I'm still here and that means something to me there's something left for me to do and I need you to be here to see it So I'll take it slow Day by day One breath, One prayer at a time, learn from my mistakes, learn from your lessons, I know this ride ain't over yet and so much is left to learn from But we're getting there we're moving forward one day at a time one right at a time I'm not where I thought I'd be It's not where you should be But it's a step in the right direction And I don't have to tell you, That's a better place than I've been in years.
Take It Slow
I'm hallucinating zombies heads twisted Blood spread on the floor, it's slippery Should I attract these creatures instead? Soon before they turn, better hurry I stepped out unnoticed, it is too dark Only some pair of green round lights I froze the moment I heared them bark Oh Lord! This nightmare, worst bites The faces of these beasts covered blood Felt like I'm pushed to edge of a grave Mine blood they tasted, last breath, dead I prayed angels to hold me and save Are my pledges thrown into this pit? Are the chameleons smiling at this wit?
The Truth Behind (Sonnet)
I am a temporary trophy, gold leaf gilded and shiny, bright, shimmering. You're 200% proud because I'm yours. The small handcuff trapping, pinching, suffocating, my left pinky's neighbor pledges my body to you. If only you could chain my brain, maybe you'd be content, satisfied, done. Perhaps that's why I cry at night and wonder if I'll ever break free. Your "love" is an exceptionally cruel box to exist inside.
