Poems
Keeps me warm
on a cold night
Cradles my brow
from the intense light
Comforts me through my fears
Wipes away this pain , my tears
Open the pages of the book
Blank though they be , let's take a look
Be the pen and the ink
That sets my soul free to think

Freedom of Love
The freedom of a sparrow
is the air under it's wings
The freedom of the wild horse
is the plains that recede
The freedom of a choice
is the choice not made
The freedom of love
is knowing you had no more to give

Winter is ending
and I am looking ahead
Even when winter has
one foot in the grave
It's not to be a stave

A sparrow without love
is a bird without feathers . . .
and cannot fly

A wild horse without love
is a horse without a plain . . .
and cannot run

A choice made without love is recklass
and bound to be wrong

Love knowing you held back
leaves you little to hang on

Ego and Eggo's
Take the ego . . .
Not mine but your's !

Toast it golden brown , hot
put some butter and syrup on it

Now see if you can eat it
Without choking on the way down

What ? Milk ? Sure here's some 2%
See if it helps swallow it down

Here's seconds coming up
Hey ! It's your ego

I can't help it if it's large !

Have some more syrup . . . butter ?
How about a gallon to go

The Distance Between
the rays of light , first past night
A rooster of a red bull dawn
penetrating my space making place
in my mind , my heart , and soul

got a messenger on my mail
saying , you have a point to nail
the distance between is shadow thin
and in silence you're assailed

Oh , no ! for there is no assurance
between the bookends afterglow
over a sea of promisses drowned
flys the arrow's revenge far from the bow

the required 1% , not evident
blood be drawn , sacrifice made
to tease your foul reasoning
embryo was to the point purely all ******

Now as afterthought was hollow grave
as you lay love's carcass down
cover it with time's wasted words
of a distance that was only shadow thin

After Midnight Now
It's after midnight now
I've come to howl
the words my muse
keeps in her bag
She's a blackhearted *****
with gnarly teeth
and razor thin lips to bare
She has kerosene breath
and her fingers are as cold as death
She's long desired
to catch me in bed
But I would drown in the creek
before I would be tongue bound
and give in to such an ugly witch
She plys me with liquor
He tongue is word flickered
She dances around and around
I stand but falter , and tumble on over
And she's quicker than a cat on a moth
She's licking my neck
and I shudder from cold z' over
She lays across my chest and declares
"I'll put you to test , taking all of your best"
Then she slides her hands under my shirt
Then cackling with glee
she strips down my clothes to my "T's"
So excited she trembles ecstatically
She raises her dress and sits down upon me
She screams  in such delight like
two bobcats fighting at night
And I lay helpless as I stare
She moans , then groans
then short tempered yells
and many an "almost"  and "Oh Oh Oh's"
Then turns soft as a quail
Her fingers now all over warm
Replacing the cackles and bows
a beautiful voice that glows
She whimpers like a puppy scorned
She's now in the buff
And little concerned
In the calm after the storm
her true beauty really shows

Bullet From A Gun
I lived my life
Like a bullet from a gun
Racing down a barrel
From an explosive past
Always smoke and fire and blast
Then I moved on

In my haste racing away
I'm concerned not who
I graze
All my days I came
Crashing into , littered souls
What carnage too

Once I left I was gone
awesome , strong
Hell bent on ways
That destruction sent
Cold steel and
Hot lead

My nerves bled
and others too
Through your flesh and heart
I pierced
With never a thought
Of mercy due

I lived my life
Like a bullet
From a gun
Cold cold steel and
Red hot lead
When the sun goes down
we need a light
so we burn our bridges down

And holding each other tight in fright
We know we cannot go back
because all our bridges are down

. . . . the sun has gone down
but a full moon of love is rising
we will see our way forward

I won't look back if you won't
there is no turning back
are you with me ?

The bridge burning away to yesterday
too hot to hang onto . . . ouch !
Let it go for today
I said I love you in the rain
I said I love on the train
I said I love you over and over
          again and again
Till I turned blue from pain

Bodacious !
Borboleta fluttering away . . .
Flip , Flip , Flip
Hound dog ahowling at the sly fox
ahowl . . . ahowl . . .
Bark Bark they say !
Red fox winks and runs away
ahool . . . pant , pant , pant ! ! !

Hold on you say . . . how ?

Save it for a sunny day . . . hold on
You got to hold on for one more day

Blue
A bottle of wine
ordinary cheese
the foreboding of
the evening breeze

Soft honest words
murmured across the station
And silence for
contemplation

Another slice
another drip
As your mind
begins to slip

Across time
across the rhyme
What's real
so intertwined

I can't remember how
to make blue

Blackbird Sitting
I am the blackbird sitting
on the branch . . . watching you
Peering into every aspect you do
Kaw . . . Kaw
and you . . ,

Late at night if I ever get out of here
I swear I will turn into a thunderstorm
And hurl my bolts of light at you
And pound you with my thunder

I am the blackbird . . . and I am still
watching you
Can you feel the unease of my stare
Kaw . . . Kaw . . .
now you are aware

He held a grudge forever more
Never could he release the hate and pain
Nothing nice again , just rain
He could never get out again

The blackbird and me . . . .
as the feathers flutter to the ground
Went both of us . . . around and around
Dagers drawn , guns blazing

Like I said it is late of night
Cursing and swearing my heart pounds
Mark on my bolts , holding thunder
I notch another line on the barrel of life

Blackbird ! Blackbird !  Blackbird be !
I am the blackbird sitting in your tree
Peering into the aspects that you might be
Kaw . . . Kaw . . .

Door To Love
I opened the door to love
The front door of my heart

You came in and measured rooms
Remodeled in all it's parts

And before I could say I knew it
You had rearranged my life to suit

Then you began to moan and complain
That my heart was way to small

So you began to shop around
And found a complex next door to the mall

Forgetting all those vows of I'll do it
My life like a revolving door you went through it

You left leaving the front door open
But you shut off all my lights

Now I hear your searching again
Your talk of true love , I scoff

Maybe it's on a secluded island
One with a two story loft

so be it . . .

All The Reasons Why
Only the answers why
As I gaze at an evening crescent

Only between the sighs
As blood flows , porous , effervescent

So it was this time due
Ripped the scars vertically

For all these feelings . . . you're
Taken into nothing totally

Yes in my heart I bleed
Day , tomorrow , in eternity

Falling the crescent seed
By night dark without paternity

One hundred and one stitch
Reside to mend this remake fantasy

So flies the weathered witch
Across a crescent moon above me

Second hand moonlight ray
Second guessing all that which I gave

Will I live to see day
Silence knows but there is nothing to say
Her eyes in the moon
Reflection of a dreaming
That I can't awake

A following sun
Now that I am forced to be
A ring in a tree

Futile in my ways
One sees beyond shallow grave
Gurgle in the creek

Can there be so sweet
Your hand making me complete
Sun kissed cool in the twilight

In a circle rule
Come a stroke now of midnight
Silence flies the owl

Twenty-four hours now
Making my day complete
Blue sky , clouds pass by

When I Die Bury Me In A Poem
When I die burry me in a poem
I am six foot six so make
My poem seven foot long

Make it from rich azure tales of Arabian nights
Make it's walls strong to protect
My remains from a Poe's delight

Rest my head on a pillow of silken vowels
Line the walls with chiffon
And wolfen howls

Place inside the words of my poems
Lest I be presumptuous
Under my tongue a copper coin

Lest they forget , leave the calendar of my last living date
So I can ponder how fragile life is
Death a certain fate

Finally , bury me six syllables deep
I pray , that my poems
For them to keep

Softly and Tenderly
"SOFTLY AND TENDERLY JESUS IS CALLING
CALLING FOR YOU AND FOR ME
SEE ON THE PORTALS HE'S WAITING AND WATCHING
WATCHING FOR YOU AND FOR ME"

She lay in bed under the covers facing the wall .

He sat on the bed facing away .
He sat there for eternity it seemed .

"Are you going to lay down ? Your'e sagging the bed ."

He laid down facing upward

Then she rolled over and looked at him .
For the longest time she didn't move or say anything . Then she rolled back over pulling the covers up

He just laid there , not moving , barely breathing

Fifteen , twenty , thirty minutes
Then she rolls back around and puts her arm
across his chest and snuggles up under his arm

He is surprised , doesn't know what to do
He doesn't want to break the spell

Slowly he puts his hand on her waist and feels a quiver shoot through her , but she says nothing

He breathes easier . . . softer

"COME HOME , COME HOME
YOU THAT ARE WEARY COME HOME
EARNESTLT , TENDERLY
JESUS IS CALLING
CALLING , O SINNER , COME HOME "

Thirty Years Later
Hello Margaret , it's been thirty years now to the day .
Gee I would like to ask how you are but that seems silly now anyway.
Hard to believe it's been thirty years to the exact day .
Thirty years since you took your life away .

Angel is all grown up now with two children of her own and another on the way .
When I asked her if she wanted to come she looked down and said , "Tell her I love her ."
It still bothers her unfortunately .

Me ? Well I grieved for years and finally crawled out of my hole . I met Ann and she has made me whole .
You know I love her as much as I loved you . It's just another kind of love , different than the love I had for you .
She's waiting over there inside the car . She understands how I feel and will always be that way . We have children now , two of our own . I think you would love them if it were left to God alone .

But it's not about me that brings me here today . I just had to see you and just wanted to say that I still love you and will never change my way . And for some strange reason I thought I would hear you say you feel the same way too ,

Caged Love
My love is caged
like a wild beast
I see you walk by and I growl
deep within my throat

These bars that separates us
will not be forever
One day I shall be free
to have my way with you

I stretch my claws for someday
I will claw you
I lick my fangs for someday
I will bite your neck and thrash you

I shall stalk you
and crouch in shadows
With only yellow green eyes
will you see in the reflections of your light

I shall leap and pin your
helpless arms with my paws
I will look into your eyes and growl
You will feel my hot breath upon your neck

I will bite you , then taste your flesh
My claws will rip you
Bite after bite , rip after rip
It will be my pleasure

My love is a caged love
but I will have my treasure
These bars cannot hold forever
Some day my love will be free

Moses and Jesus
Moses was Egyptian
Jesus was a jew
God came down from the mountaintop
said there's no difference between the two

Well parting of the red sea
Or was it a sea of reeds ?
Who flipping cares now
What is important is the fact of the deed

And Noah built a boat
Had a raffle giving away time shares
But interest was at record lows
Just showers and who really cares

So they crucified Jesus
Did they nail or rope him down there
Doesn't really matter
we left him dangling in the air

We have all heard of the Passover
But we celebrate "pass" with the beast
There is grit and grittle in the foundation of our hearts
Somehow we feel we are complete

So how God holds a special place
for such a hideous race
Even by God's Standards
that decision is hard to take

Mason Jars Of Suns
I collect the stars
and drop them into mason jars
that once were home to
my honeysuckle jam

Suns  Suns  Suns
One by One
I use their lantern's glow
to light up my universe

Ahhh . . . , the universe is black
without it's light
And I pause in my gathering
to comtemplate

The sky is blue
A sea of blue
as far as I can see
A sea of blue without mermaids

Oh , that feeling
as I turn into blue
A lingering
A disintegration

A chorus of crickets
are singing ,
"Here Comes the Sun King"
he is one and done

Yeah !
I need a jar
to start collecting
all the lightning bolts

Didn't anybody tell you
that touching a bolt of lightning
was so much hotter
than kissing the sun

pause for reflection . . . . .

I opened all my jars of restraint
and freed the Suns
They fled smiling
glowing with joy

I contemplated
smashing all my  jars
but I made scupernong
wine instead .

Ghost
I used to walk over my emotions
in the rain , sometimes the snow
Still I just don't know
   where the nighthawks go

Flying high , diving low

I used to walk in the night
Alone , unafraid where the red lights
turn green through the alleys

Once again past the gates made of tin

I turn thinking of her skin
   turn again and again
Singing softly , mumbling curses
   never coming to an end

. . . . . ?. . . . .

I've seen the day come crashing down
   seen it rise up again
Seen love come in and walk out the door
   Seen relationships turn to snow

Seen reason falter , stumble and fall
   Seen it's anger and rage
Seen loves folly over coffee , jam , and toast
I see it all as if it were a ghost

Seeking Safe Harbor
She just fled an abusive relationship
He befriended her with the kind words
That she was seeking
Soon they fell into a bed of convenience
Making love more out of the confusion

She let him have his way with her
Grateful for saving her from the pain
He was pleasured to have her
Taking her as far as he could gain

Soon the ritual turned into a habit
No real love to the affair
She was giving once again
To a man who really didn't care

An Unwritten Truth
Time stands still for no man

Stop the train ! I want to get off !
If I can't be anything more
Then let me scold and let me scoff
Please now just open up the door

Your pretentious pretensions
Pause and place me inbetween
Take your dreams and nightmares too
I see the truth there in your gleam

Let me off at the next stop , please !
Just let me debark from this strife
I have no need of solicitations
From the perpetrators in my life

Just back away from your misgivings
Keep them all for yourself
I have no use for the falsehoods
So put your book back on the shelf

The Muse Master
Muse :
"Move over fool and watch a Muse Master
at work"

In the blackness of my soul
I sit listening to far off thunder
      As inside it also rolls

      For long long seconds
      There is no sound
      Then begins the brumble bound

      Quicken flashes does my mind's
      Hindsight cause flashes white
Of the truth hidden by the night

It is perhaps then I stir
And begin to think of you
      A soul's ***** as if a burr

      Then the truth will crash
And I slow count to ten
      Before I hear rumble within

      Then comes a calm
      No more flash or sound
I have burried my thoughts of you

Me :
"I don't know ," I say. "Maybe by tomorrow's
light . . . . I'll have a say ."

Then the muse did stare
With such a cold cold glare
All the fluids in my glass froze

There she was
Then she wasn't
And she vanished
Into the cold thin air

Jimena and El Cid
The sands sleep beneath the mists
As the breath of time sets in
And the memory of you
Settles soft upon my skin
I feel your hand of time entwined in mine
As you call me your El Cid
I return the devotion , calling you Jimena , my devine
And across the morning mist
We will once again walk hand in hand

In a latter day I found a wonder
But no where near the age
I am sadden by the book
With the many missing page

If you are my Jabal Tariq
Then I will be your rock El Cid

But far across there is such distance
That no man can rid
Perhaps in another life
Closer we will be . . . .
And I will return as your El Cid
As you my Jemena , come back to me
Jabal Tariq - rock of Gibraltar
El Cid - national hero of Spain
Jimena - wife of El Cid

Red Canvass of Life
1971
when I was 21
unfulfilled dreams
were bred , then bled out over time
time drips by the second
from the icicles of my sorrow

the winds out of Africa
bring rain and destruction
to my Gulf of Mexico sound

blue . . . covers the canvas
with dark reds , and space to fill
the brushes are stiff from
impropper cleaning

58 days till next year . . . 1972

California is calling me . . .
but I don't want to go
the grass is bluer at home
the grass has red canvass strokes
from such useless sacrifice
Caught in rememberance of a fallen Viet Nam soldier . Marine PFC William Le Grande Dawes (June 24 , 1950 - October 19 , 1969)
The word canvass is used militarily . To canvass an area means to clean it up or to observe the area . Here it refers to my looking back upon a life cut way too short . And the use of canvas is to paint a picture mentally of that dreadful time .
By a dank , stinky waterway
Blowing off all my care
Swarms of tiny black insects
Biting me everywhere
Around the bend so listless
Hovers a barge's spotlight

Now I was feeling cold as a stone
So I knew that it was time for me to go
I roared down the highway
To that trucks diesel smell
Seeking shelter in the middle of the night
Somewhere , where they treat you well
A red light dangles from a window
Lady Nightly is leaning against the door
She says, "Won't you come on in and I'll
be your ***** ."

Oh , welcome to the Hotel , Alabama
Such a secluded place , "such a secluded place"
Such a must see place
Book a room at the Hotel , Alabama
Put away your fears , "put away your fears"
She'll be waiting there

She'll twist your time so swiftly
Make you taste all of her amends
She knows all the right moves
If not she'll call in her friends
The moon ago was arising
She covers all of your bets
Pure pale skin in the moonlight
A taste I can't forget

I call up the dispatcher
"I won't be in on time"
Lamenting he said ,"Where are you this time?"
But his voice just got more distant
As I turned away
Forgot all about him as I dove back in bed
(Then she turned over to say)

"Welcome back to the Hotel , Alabama
Such a lovey place, "such a lovely place"
Always has a place
"Welcome to the Hotel , Alabama"
What a pleasant rise , "what a pleasant rise"
No need for disguise

My senses now reeling
Gin and tonic would have to suffice
She said , "Once , twice , now let's make it thrice"
There in the muggy bedroom
We were joined like a beast
We slapped our steely bodies
But couldn't satisfy it in the least

The rising sun glared at me in the face
She was standing by the door
"Y'all have to stop by on your way back
And I'll give you more"
"Oooh , aah ouch !" said I to the lady of my night , "It's more than I perceived .
You got a facebook page , one that I could like ?"
(And all she said was),"It's time for you to leave"

So welcome back to the Hotel , Alabama
Such a distant place , "such a distant place"
Such a must see place
Welcome back to the Hotel , Alabama
What a pleasant rise , "no need for disguise"
You can always book a room at the Hotel , Alabama
Such a lovely place , "such a lonely place"
Such a distant place . . . . . .
A nickname I had when I drove trucks was Alabama .

Writing Poem
I steal my love away from you
Early in the day
I seal my fate with you
But my heart won't let it stay

Then when evening turns to dusk
From the fragments of our day
Passion rising , consuming
Assuming what I'll say

As when truth ascending
The pen pending
But alleging my feelings
Are all for you

Wayward tongue flickering
Piercing is the bite
My poissoned thoughts burning
Screaming from inside of you

Racing , scathing , penned
Between the lines I do
Then releasing , bursting
All my poem comes through

The Muse Died
The muse died
I put a stake through her heart
Put her in the ground

She will no longer
**** away my sleep
Trade my time for trinkets of rhyme

I left her
In an unmarked grave
So soon to be forgotten

She will no longer
Rise at first moon
To haunt my memories

Like a simple twist of fate
She looked astonished
The first blow upon the stake

I dust off my hands
And lay my shovel down
I'm going home

I will lay down
And go back to sleep
all within my ease

But before I do
I'll throw another poem
Upon the towering stack

1313 Primrose Street
Old friends sat on their hands
Leaning forward
swinging their feet
like second grade

1313 Primrose Street
The first thing I ever memorized
Except for the hollow fear
of empty footsteps
following me from Texas

The sharks always fascinated me
Charged me with fear
and apprehension
Evil dark black eye of devotion
They were all maneaters

Her skin was sandpaper thin
She made me always bleed
She drank shark's liver oil
and made me always smile
She was a maneater

On a mountaintop
my love came alvalanching down
Even January's cold
was no match for what I was told

Drove back to Birmingham
with the thermostat stuck
But I didn't care
I couldn't be colder
frozen in my forlorn heart of despair

There is a Tempest
There is a tempest
In the Temple of tonight

All of my values , morals
Are shaking cold from fright

There is a reason now
For all of my due fear

When red is the color
It has turned from water clear

There is red blood from the innocent
Caking on my fingers from their souls

They have been taken in their silence
Their blood has been dried by the cold

In the darkest of the winter
My seed willingly spills

Sickening sweet the cost
Of such a cheapening thrill

It crystalizes screaming
Without making a sound

Upon the snow white flakes
Of the frozen ground

You shuddered when caked
And cold ****** fingers

Stopped to caress your silken breast
Where upon they linger

I briefly touch with the back of my hand
Your perfect cheek that flowers this land

I turn to see a nor by norwestern star
It's my place , my home so far

Then into the blackness
where none of the living dare goes

Love takes a walk with me
Until it's suddlenly froze
Dedicated to Eridamus , the river conttellation .

Crazy Mary
"HELLO DARKNESS , MY OLD FRIEND"

As the radio spewed out the words
To the "Sounds of Silence" an old
Simon and Garfunkel song

"I'VE COME TO TALK WITH YOU AGAIN"

And Mary would turn the volume down
Quickly and explain

We were maybe upper teens but Mary
Had an understanding
Beyond the prophets vision
She would explain the hidden meanings
Of the songs to me

"BECAUSE A VISION SOFTLY CREEPING
LEFT IT'S SEEDS WHILE I WAS SLEEPING"

At the time the Viet Nam war was raging
And our friends were dying for nothing

Jake my best high school friend
Had died at nineteen
Mary's brother was listed as missing in action
And never came to a conclusion

After that Mary sort of lost it
And acquired her nickname
But we both learned to cope with it
And music was the cure we both sought
For healing

"AND THE VISION THAT WAS PLANTED
IN MY BRAIN STILL REMAINS"

Mary grew up , older and married
Some pseudo fake frat guy
Who remained 18 for the rest of his life

Mary turned into a pill dropping alcoholic
And one night went to bed and never
Woke up again
And I can hear her saying ,

"DEEP WITHIN THE SOUNDS OF SILENCE"

Sunburned Flakes
I opened up today
with cereal coated
in sun's rays

I ate every last flake
And got sunburned
Now my tummy shakes

I asked Brenda Sue
If I could kiss her lips
"What ! You certainly can no do "

Then it began to rain
I had no umbrella
Was my refrain

Quick give me your coat
and she put it on her head
Like a boat

Then we ran in the drench
Comming down big drops
That soaked me hence

We made safety
Behind the store
She so dry reliably

Handed me my dripping coat
Then kissed on my cheek
Left handing me a note

Next time on the lips
The emptiness of disbelief
The hollow of a bell
The lack of any reason
Raising buckets from a dried up well

Looking for life inside
The largest of museums
Firebomb a defenseless city
You can call it Dresden

Step aside , don't block the way
Cause the air tastes of cyanide
Explode a nuetron bomb
And no one will survive

Hollow rings the empty bell
Surface to air missles come together
It tolls for the souls be sent to Hell

How Hannah Met Her Chi
It was a dark night in November
A baby wailed as it was delivered
The mother gasped and breathed no more
Began the tale of sorrow for
And every night was darkened pain as
Hannah would have to be refrained
Caught up in her guilt
She's thinking about cutting again

But comes a rattle upon the pane
And in flies the spirit's wind
"Who dares cross this portal door
Come out I do implore"

And Hannah stepped back in fright
For it must be an attack tonight
But the spectral image of a shady form
Left poor Hannah unadorned
"Speak most devious one
Tell me where it is your coming from"

The image coalesced into physical form
That on the outside looked so forlorn
It parted what looked like lips
And uttered the word,"Chi"

Hannah was quick to know
Everyone has a chi that flows
But still Hannah was confused
And the question now arose
"Of what Chi do you speak
And tell me how it works ?"

But the only response was a hollow whisper  "Chi" , was all it said

So Hannah was quick to respond
Ran to the refrigerator and opened the door
She grabbed a can and quickly returned
To the entrance unconcerned
With a can of five hour Super Chi

She popped the top and poured it down
Into the spatial beast
It shook at first then burpped at last
Wiped it's mouth and passed some gas
Then it said , "Chi that was great !"

Fallen Angels
They fall far , they fall hard
They leave stained and ***** feathers
Some soaked in tar

Their kisses form shallow
Their embraces colored weak

Their hearts are shredded
Their pulse timid
Barely a beat

Love has been cruel
A diversion in pain at best

Little did they know that
When they flew
From the nest

Now broken and battered
No longer good of wing

They perform as requested
Or chance another
Beating

All of their tomorrows lay in powdered dust
Nothing to hold onto

No children , photograps , ring
Nothing
Except the next man's ******

I and You
I am the air that embraces the air of you wings
When I sleep at night you bring me dreams

I am the first rays bursting forth on a cloudy day
You are the open ocean's windy white spray

I am the glazen white light from the dust of the moon
You're looking back saying ,"Come catch me real soon .

I am the glisten as light shines through the rain
You are my Magi whose hands heal all my pain

I am the father before there was time
You are the mother as eternity unwinds

They say it is written in stone on the walls
I say it is unwritten that tells to me all

Grey Wolf
I ran with the wolves
Howled at night's full moon
Ate my prey warm
With it's heart still pounding

But moon after moon passed
Alfa wolves rose and fell
And I no longer recognize
Original clan

They speak of me as the grey wolf
The ancient one who howls
Up above the highest peaks
The grey ghost of the ancient past

I sleep with the always cold
Looking down from the highest passes
Even with cloudy eyes
I still see

No Longer
There will no longer be a coming in
Just the feelings I have stored within

Now you will soon fly away , leaving me
In my land of snow and ice in May

I wanted you to have my all
But chains bound me to my call

If I could but know I shant
Cradle your love , growing now so faint

Sometimes you cut the ropes
Sever the ties you had with hopes

What you said was , "God Ordained"
Now you say , "Oh God , I'm refrained"

As love is abandoned in the sea of despair
I watch it sink and disappear

And I know it will drift there for evermore
In the center of my heart's aching core

Hollow Reed
Make my life a hollow reed
That will bend now in stormy breeze
For in numbers I find my strength
Beneath the willow tree

Make my life like the rock
Piled high upon , top to top
A stonewall that runs for miles
Around my lands it stands

Make my life short and sweet
Give me peace not dire defeat
Give me love and woman's sigh
Amidst the clovered fields

Make my life a Godly song
One that knows right from wrong
With wisdon as old as stars
I'll dance inside the fire

Make my life to unfold
I am tired , my shoes have holes
My dreams are seeds cast to the wind
And just the husk remains

Make my life now come to end
It's my time to propend
I'll walk among the ghost's remains
And willingly I quote

Hollow reeds will bend not break
Holow reeds will not forsake
Of hollow reeds my death bed make
And lie amongst the stars

The Race
Her hand lay upon his bare chest
His hand her back caressed
They just took their physical test
And both prayed they passed
He wanted feedback oh so bad
She wanted to tell but was afraid
But in silence was all both had
In the bedroom of his cave
He touched her face pure and soft
She kissed his lips and made a wish
Then his passion again took off
And dined on the gourmet dish
She moaned and wailed like a wraith
He extended out the pace
They ran together in a race and
Crossed the finish line together
Her eyes they pleased his face
In his smile she felt relief
Together they hugged
And said together , " I do."

Bareback Rider
Mustangs , best beasts on hooves
Fly all day without wings
Tough as a Rocky Mountain blizzard
Unforgiving as any rings on reins
Tough as any ******* rider

I tame my phillies like Mustangs
With gentle persuasion
And kisses of sugar
Hugs aplenty
Make them my best friend

I whisper softly , come here philly dear
Let me whisper in your ear
I am cruel , hard , it appears
Soft unto your soul
Make me your fool

With whip and rope I pace you
Around until I mount you
Taking you by your mane
I will make you
Make your mind , mine

My you strut your stance
You do dance untill
I take you by force
And of course
Make you whinny

Women are creators

Women create action just by combing their hair
              men are instigators
Women turn the rough and jagged into silk

Women can turn parcels of land into houses
with a smile , all they need is wile

Love in a Bottle
I put a message in it
Corked and cast it into the sea
Saying , go find my lover
Bring her back to me

. . .as the surf swirled around my heart
I was shoved and pulled apart . . .

Oh ! full moon tide take away my bottle
Sweep it far away from me
Take it to my lover
So she can see what she means to me

. . .bobbing in the crest . . .
between ocean and sunset . . .
there are glints and flashes . . .
of my bottle and the contents that are in it

I threw a bottle . . .
take it far from me . . .
take it across the Atlantic
to the one . . .
who is in love with me

The Sounds of Sorrow
The sounds of sorrow :
soft whimpers under covers
late , late on a cold winter's night

Low moans of eternal pain
that one has tried to turn
into  . . ."I forgot"

Long wails that are full
of fury and devastation
as a hurricane's whip cracks

The heart that has been
kicked and stomped
and stabbed to froth

Flipping pages of poetry
fanning the heat
of discourse

Long sighs
sitting in a swing
looking down . . .coughs

Hearing what other's think
what they say
in silence

The scrape of a mental shovel
digging deeper
trying to bury the past

Oh ! Of course !
the frustration of deliberations
throwing and shattering glass

Yelling in a canyon
but there are no echoes
bouncing back

The ******* sound
made from a razorblade
that is in your mouth

and then silence

INNOCENCE
Innocence  displayed
Like a little girl touching dandelions
. . . a butterfly left behind
lingering on the doorsteps of winter . . .

Time , Time , Time
. . . so elusive , so undefined . . .

we have tried (so) true
(only) we fall so short

Love . . .  an instance in time . . .
. . . so passionate (in it's) displacement
We hope for but it lays like the cross
. . . at Jesus's feet . . .

We bury time , we bury love
We bury ourselves in search of both

The little girl without a sense of time
Knowing only basic love . . .
Tenderness of care . . .
and dandelions

Maybe we are the dandelions of time
Petals of love . , . surrounding each
in it's time . . . falling  . . .
one by one . . .
Like kisses given and taken

Lost to time , in love ,
till the doorsteps of winter
close in and freezes the moment

. . . all alone . . .

Love  . . . time . . . dandelions
Little girls . . . and innocence . . .

Run away as fast as you can
Just trying to figure out what in the Hell happened .
