Let go of Loss
Tamara Lynn Sep 2021
What's meant for you will be
The rest will fade away
Just give it time and see
That some things just can't stay

Don't think that they are lost
But rather just observe
Your heart now has more space
For things that you deserve

A Reflection on Existence
Tamara Lynn May 2017
What is life
What is it's meaning
Age old questions since the brain of **** sapiens developed abstract contemplations

I wonder,
Could it's meaning be entirely subjective
And that life is simply a matter of perspective

We live in a vast and seemingly infinite universe
Isolated on this tiny grain of dust that we like to call Earth
To quote Sagan, on it
"Everyone you know, everyone you love,
Everyone who was,
Every human being you've ever heard of,"
Lived here

And that thought might be daunting
The complexities and mysteries of the cosmos may be haunting

But maybe we can find peace
In the inevitable fact that our existence will one day cease

So I open my mind to the thought,
Why should we worry about everyday grief
When to me,
This entire concept provides a sense of relief
My point: Nothing really matters and we won't be around forever, so let's make the most out of this weird thing that it is to exist.

Island
Tamara Lynn Mar 2019
An island in the sea
Is where I longed to be
Blissfully safe and sound
Without a single soul around

But what I discovered
Was that venturing from that place
Was the key I needed to uncover
So I had to begin at a new pace

An island in the sea
Is no longer for me
I assembled a vessel and sailed away
On the waves that I once had to wrestle
And so now I can certainly say
Onward to a much better day
As a child, I always thought it’d be great to live on a small uncharted island in the middle of nowhere. I guess it's because i’ve always been an introvert and the thought of it seemed safe. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that I enjoy other’s company quite a lot. I don’t want to be isolated. I crave connection. And sure, I’m definitely still an introvert and need lots of time alone, but I’m glad that I no longer care to live on my island.

Weight of Being
Tamara Lynn Sep 2021
To be conscious
Isn't material
Or something tangible
But rather something ethereal
A fleeting idea of what's real
Intruding on the illusion
That we have all the solutions

Can't explain why
But I'm humbled to see through these eyes
Our echoing cry in the corner of the skies
Reminds me that
The shear gravity
Of just being
Is staggering

We exist in the blink of an eye
What a concept to be alive
To perceive is to conceive
In this moment its the beginning
Of the rest of your life

We are not immortalized
Our fate is demise
To no surprise
We fantasize to calm our cries
But its truly profound
That in the end
Never again will there be a sound

There's peace in that fact
That time isn't able to backtrack
What was meant to happen has passed
It couldn't last, but alas

This is precisely why the weight of being
Holds an astounding amount of meaning
Just by being alive, we're faced with many burdens that we can't fully comprehend, but that's why we need to allow ourselves joy while we're here for the little time that we have. Life can be as fulfilling as we make it. That's the message I'm trying to convey in the most realistic way.

One in the Same II
Tamara Lynn Feb 2020
When we focus on what makes us human in the expansive cosmos that is our only home

It’s a humbling experience to have the knowledge
that this existence is impermanent
And that we are not alone in the awareness

These beings among us are the only ones we know of that will ever grasp the concept of our place in this universe

For that we can at least empathize with one another
Realize that love and peace is what we should pursue

If for only but a second could we all zoom out
and come to conclusion that we don’t really have a clue

That it’s okay that we don't have every answer

At times it’s necessary to admit defeat
We can find solace in the incomplete
Meditate on the beauty in the madness
Rest our minds amongst the mess

The way of this world is not meant for perfection

Entropy is inevitable
Destruction and decay
We can hope and pray

But this universe doesn’t speak that language
It’s set on its own path

Time flows in a linear direction
from which we can’t turn back

Nevertheless we are apart of a whole

We have to keep that in mind and hold on tight
Please allow this message to console

In the midst of this glimpse in the timeline of human life
It’s crucial that we waste no time and choose to live it right

The Season of Growth
Tamara Lynn Apr 2017
Petals flutter softly in the fresh spring breeze
The melancholy sky will soon take a leave

They fall to the ground with such grace and poise
As if trying not to offend the air with any noise

Floral landscapes emerge filling the previously deceased ground
Bringing back life to the earth without even a sound

Blooming into existence for the gazing wanderer to admire
Filling children’s hearts with cheer and desire

It’s no wonder a passerby might feel heightened emotions
Gazing into the cyan hue of a blossom resembling the oceans

Inducing a spike of those happy neurotransmitters
Encouraging contentedness in everyone, even tiny critters

Photons trickle down after descending from the core of the sun
Nuclear fusion is a wonderful thing that is done

Showering our bodies with warmth as we expose our skin
Deep within our star is where it begins

Let photosynthesis bring forth nature’s charm and appeal
As foliage dines on their favorite meal

Sustaining a planet and allowing it to thrive
This season makes me feel truly alive

New Beginnings
Tamara Lynn Apr 2017
The crisp Oregon air fills my lungs
Rain falling onto rooftops sounds like a beating drum
Echoing into the trees
I know that this is where I’m meant to be
New beginnings are in sight
As I’m starting a new chapter of my life
And I can’t help but wonder about all the potential that is there
As I sit and stare into the night

Tamara Lynn Nov 2019
Oh how long it’s been, my old friend
After years in the city
It’s refreshing to see sights this pretty
I’ve missed this type of peace
Daily chaos never does cease
But here there’s a type of mystique
The kind that can lull you to sleep
You whisper sweet nothings to me
By the sway of the trees
That subtle breeze
In the early morning when the sun first peaks
I get a glimpse of how life should be
Calm
Pleasant
and
Simply carefree

Everything That I Am
Tamara Lynn Nov 2019
I value my sensitivity
I’m not wrong for sharing my vulnerabilities
I care with everything I’ve got
Whether you like it or not
This is who I am
Never again will I look down at myself for that
There’s so much more to me than meets the eye
Underneath the shy
I may be afraid to speak up at first
Honestly it feels more like a curse
There are layers that make up who I am
But if you decide to let me in
Take care and please show compassion
I’m trying my best to be authentic
Even at times a little bit eccentric
But at my core
I just want to implore
That you allow me to show you my passion
For everything that makes up who I am

Unravel With Me
Tamara Lynn Nov 2019
We unwittingly became intertwined
Believing that our hearts could be pleasantly aligned
Although truthfully our souls were greatly confined
Stop your crying my love, it’s a sign of the times
Here we were doing that chaotic dance of so called romance
Were we masking the fact that we weren’t intact
Could it be that self love is what both of us lacked
Idealising a fantasy of what could be
Did we get caught up, ignoring the underlying misery
We can never be since it’s unrequited, you see
We must first help ourselves before we can love anyone else
And so we’ve become unwarrantedly intertwined
Only to unravel everything bound so closely together
Until all that’s left is a fragile memory that can only be treasured

Walk into the room
Mind swirling
Hands like ice
Do they like me
Shouldn’t assume
Can’t breathe
Shake in the knees
Crawling in my own skin
Want to speak
Where do I begin
Deep breath
Throat tight
Words don’t come out right
Teeth clenching
Heart wrenching
Tongue tied
Mouth dry
Cover it up
Don’t let it show
Put on a brave face
Hope they don’t know
Relief when the moment has passed
Although surely it won’t be the last

Proceed With Kindness
Tamara Lynn Mar 2019
Proceed with kindness
When you find yourself alone
Dwelling in the abyss of your own mind
And you've hit the bottom
Feeling like you're at the end of the line

You may be wary since the unknown is scary
But just be aware
That if you dare discover deep from within
A love so kind and pure
There won't be anything you can't endure

The secret to it all is self love and care
By this I swear
Rather than relying on external validation
To fuel the unmet needs of your childlike tribulations
Let's let go of all attachments
To things that merely pose as distractions
And let it all just be

One with yourself and nobody else
Because eventually one day you'll see
That in the end
Only on yourself can you fully depend
With this advice I advise you to heed
Only with kindness should you carefully proceed
You're all that you need ♡

It was something that didn’t last
I can’t quite pinpoint why
But I can’t say that we didn’t try
They say love conquers all but that can’t be true
Distance is something that we just can’t undo
I’ll never forget the moments we shared
I hope you’re aware that I truly cared
And with every passing night I dream
How life would've gone had we’d been a team

Forgive Your Own Mind
Tamara Lynn Dec 2019
What if
For just a moment in time
We pressed pause on the world passing by
Silencing the inner mumblings that tell us all these lies
And actually forgive ourselves for once in our lives

You know all that weight we carry around
The kind that causes us to be confined in our mind
Couldn't we just hold it in our palms
And let the wind sweep it to oblivion
So that we're no longer haunted by the sound

Quieting our personal qualms
We can then make space in our hearts to accept actual love
The kind we once thought we didn't deserve
We need a whole lot more, from what I've observed

We can pause our own world
In this moment make the conscious choice
To allow the heaviness to sink
The ongoing commotion to fade
To a dull white noise with little voice

With a deep breath in
Then let it all go

None of it matters when you put it in perspective
We're only human and that's all we can be
The only ones that hold our own key
Right now it's our critical objective
To set our minds free

Inevitability
Tamara Lynn Dec 2019
I wish I didn't bear the burden
Of feeling it all so heavily at once
The weight of my heart
About to erupt
Self destruct
You were just right here by my side
Hands grasping each other's so tight
Our essence and being
So gracefully entwined
In a flicker of time
All of that can feel like we've hit rewind

We were just two lonely people in search of another
To confirm that we do in fact have a purpose
In a great big world that lacks emotional explainability
The void is difficult to face on your own
When all you can see is a sea of uncertainty
But it was you and I against the time
Until our unforeseen, inevitable decline

Oh but why
Did these delicately cultivated memories
Shatter at the seams like they were never truly reality
But I'm aware that it's out of my control
All I ask is that you please don't forget
The way you used to look into my soul

The Dawn of a New Decade
Tamara Lynn May 2020
It’s the dawn of a new fate
For the entire human race
We’ve grown to take advantage of being alive
And what it means for us to thrive
Hindsight has now let us realize
That our main goal is to simply survive

A dawn of a new age
Stuck inside a cage
A rat race while we isolate
From afar we communicate
Remain in a state to collaborate

Just waiting for the upward trend to reverse
It’s been a turn for worst in the midst of a new decade
Social dissociate is not how we were made
Many without pay and a world in dismay

With the dawn of each passing day
We hold onto hope that a new fate awaits
I wrote this when the Pandemic was first hitting. Just some thoughts about the strange times right now. Hope you all are well <3

April Showers ☁︎

Tears rolled down my cheek
Moistened the Earth beneath me
I sunk to my knees
Gazed upward at the sea of turbulent skies
I closed my eyes and felt the downpour of twilight
Guess we have that in common tonight
Mother Nature must also want to cry
But she tells me that this will not last
As I open my palms
My hands begin to dry
April showers can empower
For when the storm does pass
The land will glisten
The flowers will thrive
And so will I

And all at once it became clear
The truth suddenly apparent as I looked myself in the eye
Turns out everything I've been searching for is actually near and dear
From within my own self and not from the outside
I actually may have liked what I saw
For once in what felt like the first time
Things that made up who I am were already enough to shine
Thus allowing myself a chance to be real and raw
My thoughts and world finally aligned
Self love is a journey and a continuos effort, but if you stop and look at yourself from a new perspective, you may decide to like what you see. Not in the name of vanity, but for pure self acceptance for all that you are.

The Universe In Me
Tamara Lynn Dec 2019
I am the universe
And so are you
A manifestation of matter and energy bound to a carbon based body that developed a conscious awareness of it's surroundings

The elements that comprise our bodies were forged in the core of a star that collapsed and burst
Ultimately creating the building blocks to our existence
It's utterly astounding

But deep down underneath the surface we're a mere collection of subatomic particles interacting in strange, incomprehensible fashions
And so is everything else which sparks intense curiosity and passion

Does that then imply that I am the universe and so are you?
It's all the same but manifests itself in different ways
I am an outward expression of the universe and I'm enjoying the view

I’ll begin to start fresh from the place that I left

What I’ve discovered is that with anything you do in life
There are moments of good and times of bad
The good should outweigh the bad but you can’t deny its existence
Negative moments are inevitable and we shouldn’t put up a resistance
But rather let’s accept that reality is not all peaches and cream
Sometimes there’s a lot going on behind the scenes
It’s okay to embrace the darkness of the night
Let yourself process until your chest isn’t so tight
Because when life hands you situations out of your control
You’ve got to let go and not allow them to take a toll
Feel, process, release, repeat
Don’t let the bad take you in defeat
