If you could see what they think...

Others Who?
PaperclipPoems Sep 2016
Do you mean the ones who live on the other side?
Clear across the ocean, two miles in from the tide?

The ones that live with little means or the ones that live like we were meant to?
That work, play, stress, fear, and cry, just like we do?

The men who were created from the earth and the women from Adam's rib?
The ones who fall asleep staring at the same galaxies wondering if we're all there is?

Do you mean the ones in straw houses near dirt roads?
That learn how to survive on the land and wear the clothes that they sew?

Others and me,
I'm sorry, pardon me... I'm just slightly confused
Because when I think of them, I think of me
I can't separate the two.

Leaping for Life
PaperclipPoems Sep 2016
I saw a video yesterday
It made me fall to my knees
Watching the sky scrapers fall to the ground
Listening to the scattered high pitched screams
Women and men falling from stories
Women and men hoping for life
Children and siblings clasping their hands together
Hoping their loved ones will survive.
Don't forget the air they breathed
Don't forget their names
Each year we come together to remember
The tragedy we all shared that frightful day.

The Girl You Found
PaperclipPoems Sep 2016
I love your eyes
They see a girl in me that I have never seen
You see a girl that has beautiful flaws
A girl with a warm touch who loves to be held
A girl with a bright smile who adores to laugh
Your eyes have found a girl with compassion and the ability to love
Your eyes have found a girl in me that I never knew existed
And the more you talk about her, the more she wants to come out to play.

Checking In
PaperclipPoems Sep 2016
So... I've been gone for a while,
Been trying to get my life in line
Thinking about the future mixed with where I've been
A memory sangria, without the tequila and wine

Not quite where I imagined I'd be
Still so far from understanding
All of the mistakes that I've made and the damage I've caused
While trying to come in for a smooth landing

Hearts that I've shattered while trying to feel whole
Searching for love through sleepless nights
Tearing apart families then embracing that karma
Turning all of my wrongs into rights

Somehow I don't find it necessary anymore to have a say
Lost between silent and won't shut up
I thought I had it all figured out yesterday
But I woke up today feeling quite stuck.
Please check out my revised website :) I'm excited about it since I lost my inspiration there for a while, but I think it looks much better on mobile devices now.

Wreckage
PaperclipPoems Aug 2016
My happiest moments with you
Are when we're together in my dreams
Please let me go so I may be with you there
Here as I face you, you can't stand me.
The man I once fell for held me with passion
To this day he's gentle with his touch
I wake up to you and encounter a wreckage,
A combination of hatred and lust.

Alternate Reality
PaperclipPoems Aug 2016
Where have you been
I haven't heard your voice in what feels like decades
Have you been near love?
I haven't felt this distant from you since I've seen your face

Stuck in time, frozen in memory
You stay...

I hate to close my eyes
Because I see your eyes
And I feel your warmth
I hear you tell me there's no one else that you're meant to be with in this moment

I hate to dream
Because I feel your hand
And I taste your kiss
And my heart beats out of my chest in sync with yours

In this memory world, I live a life of fictitious smiles that are based on moments. But it feels like a life we could have created. We had it in a second.
PaperclipPoems Aug 2016
Your stare was wicked
You looked at me like I could be desert
I could feel all of your senses surrounding me
Your entire body craved me
I could feel it.

I thought your hands could heal
You twisted them together in a way that made me think you were a magician
Your stare was wicked
I thought you could see through me, you made me feel like delicate glass in your hands.
Vulnerable, exposed, so trusting
You threw me to the cement and I shattered
CRASH!

A billion pieces, you watched and waited
I laid and desecrated.
Melting into the earth under the sun
Like glass on a beach.
Stepped over and buried by progression.

And you moved on.

Breathe, Exhale, Breathe
PaperclipPoems Aug 2016
Hush baby, everything is going to be okay
Close your eyes and let the tears fall
Clench your teeth and hold your breath
Then let it all out, scream into your pillow.

Feel everything right now
Everything that everyone tried to make you forget
Because no matter how far down you burry the chaos today,
Sure as daylight, one day it will all re-surface and you will feel it.
Feel it. Accept it. Don't let anyone tell you to move past it. You have to live with it, they don't.

Speed By Me
PaperclipPoems Aug 2016
Please don't tell the world my secrets
I know you can read my thoughts
I know you understand my pain
And know the battles that I have fought.
You know I'm weary of this
And that I don't trust men
Yet you persist and insist
That you are nothing like the rest of them.
Please don't run away with my heart
And give yours to another
Please do not build a foundation of lies for us
That one day I must uncover.
Why are you so kind to me?
What do you see in me that the rest have missed?
Why do you not take someone else with less issues?
What about me has you interested?
Please don't tell the world these emotions I have
Please just keep them to yourself
And please don't try to save me
Because I do not need your help.

Searching Bottles
PaperclipPoems Jul 2016
Is there a liquor strong enough to fix me
Strong enough to make me forget who you are
Forget your name.
Maybe if I drink enough, the memory of you will come out with all this food I had earlier today.
Is there a liquor that tastes better than your kiss
Feels better than your arms
I've searched many bottles and have yet to find this liquor that people say mends their pain.

Slipping into Absence
PaperclipPoems Jul 2016
You seem to be the only one I can't stand
The only one I can't forget
I bang my head against the wall
Hoping the memory of you will fall out of it

You seem the be the only one
That I just can't shake
I drown myself in tears and liquor
Until I finally numb this heartbreak

But in my dreams you remain
These feelings never die
Every day I fight to neglect
This void you left behind

PaperclipPoems Jul 2016
Some people are just made for you
You know it the second you enter a room they're in
You feel it before you even see them
You love them with every cell that makes your heart beat
They touch you and you crumble
They move and you follow
They breath and you can feel their inhale through your lungs
You become two halves of one person.

Finding You
PaperclipPoems Jul 2016
In the middle of a dead field
Nowhere to be
Yellow mountains and narrow dirt roads
Surround me
Thoughts of you keep me moving
I'd follow you with bare feet
Across California until my hands find yours again
You are the half that completes me.
Free to make a choice
Free to give my heart away
No matter how far you go,
To you I will always find a way.

Confessions
PaperclipPoems Jun 2016
I have something to say and it's taking me so much courage to tell you. It's a scary feeling and it's also so overwhelming. I wake up with these thoughts splashing around in my head. They overflow onto my day and drown me in thought of us. I've been holding back for some time now, thinking that this feeling is rushed. I thought that by holding back I may be able to better grasp it and analyze it to make sure that it's real. And now that I've taken this time, I'm finally ready to share.  I'm ready for you to know that I won't ever let you go. I'm ready for your next move, whatever that may be and I'm ready to stand by your decision. I'm ready to smile every day for the rest of my life. I'm ready to be loved and give love in return. I'm ready for big dreams and future planning. I'm ready for commitment. I'm ready for mistakes and hiccups along the way. I'm ready for uncertainty. I'm ready for passion and a breath taking life. I'm ready to give you my hand, my heart, my mind, and my body. I'm ready for you to know that I'm ready for you. I know that I'm ready, but I'm also ready to wait for you to be ready too.

Dreaming of You
PaperclipPoems Jun 2016
I've been dreaming lately.
Painting watercolor images on the canvas in my mind
Watching romantic movies on my eyelids
Singing in my sleep.
I dream that I confess everything to you
The way that I feel, what I truly think
And I even place my heart in your hands.
I wake up whispering "I love you".
Sometimes your forehead is resting on mine as I say it
Other times you're walking away...
The scenario continues to change,
But the result is always the same...
I continue to love you.

Space Bound
PaperclipPoems Jun 2016
I'm thinking about you.
Laying in bed, watching the ceiling.
Waiting for a great life change to come knock on my door
Hoping maybe you will be that knock.

I'm thinking about how you make me feel.
Trying to analyze the emotion and put a label on it.
It seems impossible to understand.
It swirls around my heart and sends messages to my brain like a fast paced satellite
But the messages are not clear so I'm left to decipher them as best as possible.

I'm thinking about your hands.
How there couldn't possibly be another hand in this universe that could be so perfect.
Not one single flaw.
They have their own language and they explore my body every time like it's the first time.
You clear my mind and kidnap my soul.

You take me out of this world.
Take me to Jupiter.

While the rest of the world lends an ear
Speak. Speak. Speak.

Little Feet
PaperclipPoems May 2016
Her bare feet were tougher than her soul
They ran through the woods all day
Snapping twigs, relentlessly killing the life below.
Little bare feet that raced each other through these halls
She grew older and she grew wiser
Gaining strength from every fall.
Little girl, now not so little
Chasing new little feet
Through the house and out the door
Adapting to this new wild beat.

Website Created
PaperclipPoems May 2016
Hey guys,

For a long time I kept my poetry to myself. It was the only outlet I had to express my thoughts and feelings. Since finding this site and receiving all of the support from everyone, I've decided to create a website as another outlet to share my work. Mostly everything I've posted on here is there, with a few exceptions.

I'd really love it if you guys would check it out and let me know your thoughts. What you like, what you don't like, etc. I feel like everyone here has been a helping hand in it.

Thanks so much guys! :)

Remember My Name
PaperclipPoems May 2016
You pushed me
Expecting me to fall
Silencing my voice with your screams
Ignoring my surrendering call

You bent me
Expecting me to snap
Untwisting my brain within your fingers
Letting the fragments rot in your lap

You stabbed me
Expecting me to bleed
Over and over you left me for dead
Hoping that I would cede

All of these terrible things you've done
All of the pain that I've endured
Karma will come back to find you
And when she does I am sure,
She will haunt you for a lifetime
She will avenge all of my pain
You will cower in her fury
And you will remember my name.

Hard Pill To Swallow
PaperclipPoems May 2016
I know that you want to know
Why I am the way I am
I brush it to the side playfully
And answer "because I can"
The most nonchalant answer I could give
You better believe that's what you'll hear
Because I'm not ready to confess the truth
I'm not ready for you to disappear.
The truth can wreck you sometimes. Sometimes it's easier not to know.

Picture This
PaperclipPoems May 2016
Broken China in the kitchen
Blood throughout the carpet
Punched holes in the walls
The house remains silent.
His love was no love in the end
Hers was just as broken...
The lies and the stories resulted in madness
And at the end of each day it was always so tragic.
Wake up in the morning, breakfast for the kids, kiss on the cheek,
No matter how in love they seem in the morning, each night is a repeat.
This is not love, this is just cruel
You're battered, but stay for the idea of love. This makes you such a fool.

Don't Blink
PaperclipPoems May 2016
Little girl with bright blonde hair
Cheeks painted pink
Playfully hid behind the table
"Mommy do you see me?"

Innocent eyes and a smile so grand
Her laugh so bubbly
She looked up to her mother
"Mommy do you see me?"

Her mother looked down
And she covered her eyes
Only just for a moment
But she opened to a surprise

Her baby girl had grown too fast
And she herself was aged and weary
In the hospital bed, by her side her daughter sat
"Mommy don't leave me"
PaperclipPoems May 2016
She was screaming
Pounding on the door
"Let me in!"
Knuckles ****** from the constant banging
Her voice was raspy and if you could see her
You would recognize that her eyes were burning from all of the tears
And her cheeks were flushed from her efforts
Let me in, she cries
Let me in...
But as you two stared in each other's eyes that day
And you continued to tell her of nothing things, as you always do
She listened
You did not hear her begging,
Only because she did not ask you directly
But inside she was giving up
Leaning her back against the wall to the right of the entrance
Lifeless body and limbs weighted to the ground
One hand barely tapping the bottom of the door
Her eyes fighting to remain open
She is fading
She is giving up on you.

Falling from the glaciers to the meadow
Her mind never rests
So full of life
Healing the valley's drought
Her waters are soothing
The resonance of rhythm
The sound of silence...
Her words will baptize you
Make you believe in another power
The strength in solitude
The power in poetry.

Say Love
PaperclipPoems Apr 2016
You speak of love as if you should know it
But you have never fallen in love with a poet

You have never been captivated by a sentence or a phrase
A heartfelt tribute that would leave you weakened for days

You have never been held prisoner by a verse about love
A single idea expressed in rhythm that made you feel like you couldn't get enough

You've never read an emotion that broke your heart and broke you down
No, you've never loved so deep that you thought you might drown

I love you this way, the same that I love my lyrics
If you can feel what I feel, then tell me so I can hear it.

Fantasy
PaperclipPoems Apr 2016
Just hold me

I don't need you to promise that you'll love me forever
Or that it will all be alright.
I'm not a child, I understand that the world is cruel and we don't always mean what we say.
I understand that people grow up and grow apart.
I don't need to hear a happy ending
Or a perfect dream.

Just hold me and be silent.
Let me fantasize what it might be like to live in that moment for infinity with you.
If I could exist in a dream, that would be it.

Are all over my brain

They don't let go
And I never want you to

Lost Boy
PaperclipPoems Apr 2016
Tonight I discovered something.
After all the time I spent putting my pieces back together that your lies had so effortlessly thrown around...
I realized that you couldn't be honest with me
Because you couldn't be honest with yourself.
And that's a big deal.
Because for a long time you were the closest thing to Truth that I thought I had.
You were the closest thing to feeling whole that I had ever found.
And when it was over you had me lost for days.
I lost my mind and I lost myself.
But now that I've put all of my pieces back together
I can clearly see that it was you who were the lost one.

When I close my eyes I still see your bright brown eyes find mine for the first time.
And in that moment we were one.
In that moment you were mine, and I yours.

Monday Brunch as a Civilian
PaperclipPoems Apr 2016
Is there such a thing as wholesome in Hollywood?
Is there such a concept as real?
I've heard the press spread your secrets and assume your thoughts
Do you trust anyone enough to share how you truly feel?

Do you travel the streets of the world in amazement
Or only travel because you must
Have you ever held a woman and wanted her soul forevermore
Or do you only chase after lust?

Would you say you're like a bird
Free to fly with the world at your feet
Or would you say you're more like a circus pet
Caged, awaiting your next crowd to greet

Do you ever think about a different life?
Do you wake up and wonder if there's more?
I find it funny how so many wish to be in your shoes
I wonder if they'd still wish it if they lived every day behind your door
Woke up and found inspiration through Instagram. Watching all of these famous people go through things that we do, except their life is on broadcast.

The Struggle
PaperclipPoems Apr 2016
You group circumstances together as one whole
While I separate them all out
You see people as black and white (metaphorically)
While I give each the benefit of the doubt

I see grey in a colorful world
While you see what you desire most
Two beautiful individual people, is who we are
Who were raised on opposite coasts

While you've seen the light and the dark
For the most part you've lived good
While I too have seen the light and the dark
For the most part I've lived misunderstood

We collide and we crash
Because our minds work in different ways
And all I really want is for you to fight to be here
Every time I push you away

Can't you see that I just want your hand?
There's not another soul that I'm tied to more...
I often wish you would just hold me in these times
Rather than erupting another war.
